changing gmail faults...or not? - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I tried to change the gmail account without making factory reset:
* Go into / data / system / root accounts.db through explorer
* Remove existing accounts.db
* After being removed please reboot your phones
* After that, when going into or open market then re-insert the account you want.
* Have a nice try, good luck

Everything worked fine since I entered my new account details:
1. tried to connect to google servers - didn't work - but I was signed in the market.
2. I reset the phone: com.google.process.gapps error appears (maybe google talk)
3. I am not able to enter the market and phone with new account.
My question is: Can I backup everything from my phone - but not the account informations of google?
I'd just wipe and reset the phone, but I'd like to backup the apps before...
or is there an easy working way to change the gmail account?
thank you!
AD

to backup your apps you can use "titanium backup" there is a free version on the market, if you want to backup the data from the apps you need to have root acces

ok! Thanks - I have root access. I will give it a try.
Can it be, that it takes some time - when changing gmail account - for the new account beeing able to connect with the phone?
edit: I have downloaded and installed Titanium Backup - when I want to backup everything (apps, Contacts, etc.) except google Account infos, which option should I take?
I'd like to easily change my current Gmail Account with a different one and have to wipe everything for it....

i don't use gmail, but maybe the gmail account is listed under settings > Accounts and sync?
If it is you can normaly delete it from that list
hope this helps

Hi Hitmax -
I'd like too not use gmail neither - how do you handle it? For emails I just use my private emailaddress - but I thought for using the market, etc. I have to use a gmailaccount?
thx!
AD

Yes you need a gmail to use the market.
According to hitmax117 you can ad or delete a count in account and sync menu. You can also delete gmail or market data thru application menu.

Bonsoir -
you can delete the files - but than you have to hard reset...

After a few hours of testing:
It works! Very strange behavior, I tried a lot but finally it works. I wrote down, what I did, so maybe it can help people with this problem:
After changing gmail account on device (without hard/factory reset), you get error messages after rebooting - and you can't see your device listed on the android market account (you can't download apps).
I made the following for changing the gmail account - without factory reset! ;-) and the phone is listed on the market :
(before I did anything I made a backup with clockwork Mod!)
* Go into phone: / data / system / root accounts.db through explorer
* Remove existing accounts.db (backup before!)
* now reset the phone - you'll be prompted to enter your new gmail account detais
*you'll get some error messages - you can ignore it
*even there are errors: you'll enter the market after a while
*you'll get the error message -"com.google.process.gapps", etc.
*you can fix it by putting all files from apps.rar - thanks to "The Andropirate"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873884
*use droidexplorer or anything else with you ROOTED phone to put files to
system/apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=464956&d=1292420131
*reboot the phone
*no error message should appear any longer
*now you should be able to just enter the market and download apps on your phone
BUT: market.android.com will make some strange stuff: maybe it will not show your device. What now?
I tried a lot. Finally it worked this way:
'*enter google account - after:
follow this link: https://www.google.com/accounts/SmsAuthConfig
*enter any number - save - everything, that it's set up completely
after:
*set up "Apps and website authorization (translated from german) "
https://www.google.com/accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens
*Enter some APP: e.g. Android
get the code! copy it.
reboot your phone!
After you should be prompted to sign in to your gmail account.
*enter the code you got from your account.
*Now you'll enter the market on you phone
on log off your google account (desktop) and log in again.
now go to https://www.google.com/accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens again.
*you should now see a list, where your app is listed.
"delete" it.
On you phone you should now be prompted (maybe after reboot), to reenter your password (now with your normal account password).
NOW: you should see your device listed on the market!
I'm not sure if it works everytime, but you can give it a try, maybe it helps someone.
No guarantee.
Good Luck!

(Q)need help google apps please

hey guys I just flashed my phone to nAa ROM ----- worked well
installed gapps------- fascinating
problem is when I was in the first boot I didn't log into google since I have no package that time.
in the drawer I cant see the market app, my friend here said that i need to log-in to google to make it visible
now the real problem, I have tried many many many times to log-in to google, but always unsuccess to log in. what should I do?
questions:
1. are you connected to wifi
2. if not are you connected to data
is so:
1. go to settings
2. accounts and sync
3. enable background data
4. add account and sign in
not working?:
1. do a factory wipe and reflash

Unable to log on Google Playstore or account

First, I am running SlimBean 7.1 for a while without any problem. In the past, I had a few times of unable to log on google appstore, but a few times of clearing data or resetting apps preference would fix it.
Today, it happens again and no matter how I tried to reset apps preference, clear google playstore data and reboot the phone; it does not let me log on.
Then, I tried to delete all the google accounts and resign in again . Now, it does not let me sign in the accounts ( these accounts work fine with different phones ) under any apps such as thru main system account add-on , youtube, gmail.
The message is " cant establish reliable connection .... your android device may not be provisioned for data services.... "
I also tried to disable wifi, using 3G, or even reflash gapps .. no luck so far . Any thought ? TIA

Anyway to unroot without wiping data

My banking app requires me not be rooted and I'm a stock bootloader locked, rooted phone, can I unroot by changing some files or something? Not sure how my banking app knows I'm rooted
Thanks for any help
Si
Try root cloak in xposed see if that works, you can unroot via the su app if it doesn't work
Good call on root cloak but it's not working for hbos.
I did the remove root option in supersu but that didn't remove root..am I missing something?

Did you uninstall supersu aswell?
supersu uninstalled when I ran the option to remove root
I know I'm still rooted as I've got a root checker from the playstore.
I believe you can just flash a stock firmware and ensure that you uncheck the option to wipe data during the process.

Thanks for that, did a full back up this morning ( using the handy sony supplued backup and restore app ) then did a flash unticking the 3 wipe options ( appcache, syslog & data I think ), flash went well and when the came back up it did the android optomising your apps thiny like an uipdate had occured but most importantly all my data was good. I did see a contact crash of acore process which a quick google search identified as needing to clear the cache of contacts then I thought I was home free....but then I saw a pop up for a Sony OS update which I did and after the reboot I'm now getting Exchange services have stopped and Mail has stopped. I've removed my exchange account and cleared Cache and Data for mail, exchange services, calander, contacts and few more but I still get the Exchange error when I try to add my exchange account back in or open mail....any ideas ?
On the plus side, my HBOS now works like a dream
Thanks guys

I can only think of clearing the cache and data for Email, Enterprise Services and Exchange Services apps. You might also want to check under Settings -> Accounts and delete any email accounts you've set up there. Sorry I can't be of much help here.
No need to appologise, any help is apprecidated.
Spent 20mins at lunch going through the app list doing the following
Forcing Close, removing Database
Did for Calenders, Contacts, Mail, Exchange etc and obvioulsy hit the right one as it's not all working
Managed to add my email account back and my HBOS is now working
Happy days

Some Google Services Refuse to Sync

Hello Everyone. I have a Samsung Captivate Glide i927 (AT&T). It was running Omni ROM 4.4 but since the latest Google Play Services update keeps 'crashing' the phone (multiple pop-ups stating that Google Play Services has stopped), I have decided to go back to stock ICS 4.0.4
The problem now is that my Google account isn't syncing properly. My contacts, calendar, Keep notes are unable to sync. I keep getting an error that states that 'Sync is having problems.' I also can't connect to the Google account from certain apps like WhatsApp & SwiftKey keyboard and as a result, I can neither back my chats to Google Drive nor download my customs words for the SwiftKey keyboard app. I can however use the Google Drive app normally. The Play Store also works properly.
I have done everything that I can think of (& read online). They are:
1. Deleting the Google Play Services cache.
2. Emptied the phone's cache. I also formatted it & the Dalvik cache in CWM.
3. Removed my Google account from the phone. Restarted & added the Google account.
4. Reset the phone to factory settings.
5. Re-flashed the official/stock 4.0.4 ROM by using Odin.
6. Changed my Google account password to 'force' everything to 'reset' and resync.
7. I have added a hash prefix to the localhost IP address in the hosts file in the 'etc' folder. I have also deleted it.
Syncing still doesn't work for those services. I am at my wit's end. Please can anyone suggest a solution?
Thanks.
NB: I posted this question in the Samsung i927 section but there was no answer or comment.

How to Remove Recommendations for Previously Installed Apps

HI Everyone.
I installed some applications on my MI 8 LITE, and then I removed them.
All the time I go into the Google Play store,
He offered me to install again the APPS i uninstall from my phone.
HERE THE LOCATION:
1. MY APPS AND GAMES -> TAB LIBRARY -> Recommended
As you can see in the attached picture.
How do I completely remove them from the Recommendation List that I don't see them never again?
I did a clean-up data cleanup and a complete cache clean for the application and still it did not help make them disappear.
What is the solution?
Thank you very much.
You can't, that apps are stored in your Google account. And can't be removed by the device, try acces your Google account and search maybe for an option to do that.
Also you can use another Google account and delete the current account where the apps are stored and problem is solved.
