[Wallpaper] [Icons] Windows 8 tablet "Metro UI" - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

After watching the video demoing the Windows 8 tablet I decided to try and recreate as much of the UI as possible.
If this sounds like something you want, you'll need the following apps:
-ADW EX Launcher
-Desktop Visualizer
-Multipicture Live Wallpaper
Optional:
-Palmary Weather Pro
Setup:
-Place the adw_ex_settings.xml file into your /sdcard directory and restore settings in ADW. Or set columns to 9 and rows to 5, make sure you have widgets set to stretch in advanced and turn off wallpaper scrolling.
-Set the wallpaper in Multipicture Live Wallpaper. Or you can try Wallpaper Wizardii if you want, but even though we're only going to be using the one wallpaper I found Multipicture was easier to use.
-Place a shortcut to open/close the app drawer under "Start", use the transparent.png for an icon and delete the text. Then arrange the 2x1 and 1x1 desktop visualizer widgets as you see fit.
*Optional* Modding Palmary Weather Pro:
-Download Apk Manager from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
-Pull the Palmary apk and place it into the modding folder, then run the Apk Manager script and select 1 to unzip the apk.
-Unzip the weather backgrounds and icons (optional) I provided into their respective directories, overwriting the existing files.
-Press 3 to zip it back up and then press 4 to re-sign the apk.
-Install the app and change the background color by choosing different transparencies in Palmary settings.
Please note that if you edit the background png's I provided they will not work afterwards. If you want to add more colors or change the ones I included, you'll have to refer to this guide here: http://modmymobile.com/forums/404-mo...ng-images.html
I hope you like the look, and if you make some new icons or wallpapers please upload them to the thread. If enough new ones get made I'll add them to this post.
Files:
Wtab8_icons - icons, wallpaper, adw settings
Wtab8_psd_fonts - 2x1, 1x1 psd files, Segoe fonts
Wtab8_weather_mod - backgrounds and icons for use with Palmary Weather.
The Palmary icons are still kind of a work in progress, if you live in an area that gets severe weather things can look a bit busy.

You can stop here if you want, but if you want to make the Palmary Weather widget look more like a Windows 8 live tile you'll need to take some additional steps...
First you'll need to download Apk Manager from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
Once you've pulled the Palmary apk, place it into the modding folder and press 1 to unzip the contents into the projects folder, then simply extract the weather backgrounds and icons (optional) into their respective directories. Then press 3 to zip it back up and then press 4 to sign it. Once that's done you can install the app again. Then you can change the background color via the transparency option.
If you want to add more colors or change the ones I included, you'll have to refer to this guide here: http://modmymobile.com/forums/404-mo...ng-images.html

Use the same method used to modify the palmary weather widget on ADW. Once the apk is unpacked, find the icons and make them transparent.

I just modded my apk and got rid of the icon. PM if you want it

Amazing work. Just set up my gtab 10.1 home screen to look like this. Could not palmary weather to work like yours so i settled for a 1x1 widget. Would love to know where I can download more icons or how to make them. Thanks for posting the guide!

do you have to be rooted for this? i cant find the "sdcard" directory...thanks

Help with Folder Organizer & Toggles - how?

Is there any way in Folder Organizer to change icons/labels of Android toggles (GPS/Airplane/4G/Mobile) for my HTC EVO 4G?
They don't show up under any of the change options for FO at all like the apps, settings or even shortcuts.
Wifi is considered a settings so is eligible for change but not the above?
Am I missing something?
They're widgets, not shortcuts. You can't edit a widget through Folder Organizer. You can edit shortcuts to those settings, but not the toggles themselves. If you want them to look different, you can use something like Beautiful Widgets that has skinnable toggles (you'll add a Beautiful Widgets widget instead of a "Settings" widget). Or you can change the image files that the toggles use - you'll have to be rooted to do so.
Folder Organizer can only go as far as the Android system will allow, so don't blame the app. You can't put your Facebook widget in Folder Organizer, why would you be able to put another? If you think about it, it makes sense.

I wasn't blaming the FO app.
I was just trying to see if I had missed a step somewhere.
thanks for chiming in with your 2 cents.

Icon packs without launcher? I actually like blur home

I actually like blur home. It's only 74 kb, it's super quick, and I never really liked LP or ADW [stock g2x..stock defy..etc]
but I have installed the pink theme and now want icons to go with it..
is the ONLY way to use the icons a launcher?
Desktop Visualizer is not the answer..you can make shortcuts but it won't replace default drawer or dock icons
Someone let me know.
pretty sure you can change icons by unpacking the .apk files and changing the icons inside them?

[Q] Miui icons

hey everyone got a quick question.
so ive searched and searched multiple forums and threads and i just can't find away to do this. what i would like to do is change some miui system icons with out applying a whole theme. like going into the icons of the theme and just changing the ones on my homescreen. i know that if you use a different launcher you can change them but i do not want to use an alternate launcher i would like to use the stock launcher. if anyone can't point me in the right direction on changing them feel free to post in here or message me.
thanks in advance
You can either open the theme you're using and modify or add the icons, or you can use Desktop Visualizer. You'll still have the app icons on your screen, you can just put them in a folder if you want. Use a Desktop Visualizer widget, don't use the shortcut.
If you need help changing your theme (or making an icon theme if you're not using a theme) you can pm me & I'll do it for you. Just send me the icons and name them what you want them to be. If you don't know how to name them properly, I can do it. I just need to know what you want the icon to represent.

7zip should work. Unzip the theme, and inside you'll see an "icons" file. Add a zip extension and extract. Add/replace the icons that you want - they have to be named the process name. For example, if you want to add an icon for the Market, you'd name it "com.android.vending.png". You wouldn't add the png extension since it's already there. The MIUI Music app would be com.miui.player.png, and so on. Once you've finished, rezip the icons and remove the zip extension. Then zip up the whole theme and change zip to mtz.
I know a lot of the popular process names off the top of my head because I do this a lot. It's actually faster for me to do it for you than to try to give a step by step guide, so if you run into issues send me a pm.

Motorola Defy 7 - WindowsPhone 7 UI by adrianmignogna

What you need for this:
- Launcher (ADWLauncherEX, Launcher Pro, etc.)
-MultiPicture Live Wallpaper (klick)
-DesktopVisualizer (http://www.appbrain.com/app/desktop-visualizer/jp.co.bii.android.app.dskvzr)
-Windows Phone 7 UI (http://www.mediafire.com/?k2qaqta6alfyt74)
-and of course, an Android phone...
Step 1: Launcher settings
Go to your Launcher settings and change the Icons per sites option (Columns 6, Rows 10).
After that, you have to hide your Notification-bar!
Important: Make sure, your transition effect is "slide" (or something similar)!
Now you can make your dock. I've got a transparent dock with 5 Icons (I only have 2 icons, the other's I've made transparent).
Congratulations! You have completed step 1!
Step 2: MultiPicture Live Wallpaper
Set MultiPicture as your Live Wallpaper, then configure it:
Set the Wallpapers from the downloaded Windows Phone 7 UI pack.
And the most important in this step: Change transition to "slide"
Congratulations! You have completed step 2!
Step 3: Desktop Visualizer
In this step you have to change your icons on the homescreen with Desktop Visualizer.
On your Homescreen you have to add a widget. There you should see the Desktop Visualizer widgets. Select the one that's 2x2.
Important: All your Icons have to be 2x2!
Make this step with every icon you want on your Homescreen.
Congratulations! You have completed step 3!
Step 4: Widgets...
Now you can add widgets like a clock, weather or other stuff.
Congratulations! You have completed all steps!
Enjoy your Windows Phone 7 UI

Okay... I can appreciate the work put into the "tutorial", and I don't mean to be rude, considering this is my post, but as someone graduating from Launcher7 into a new program (because Launcher7 isn't supported by ICS), I'm left scratching my head.
You're going under the assumption that the reader knows what (s)he needs to as far as the Launcher, MultiPicture Live Wallpaper, DesktopVisualizer and Windows Phone 7 UI goes, but it would be very helpful if you would post step-by-step tutorials easy enough that someone who's never used the programs before can understand them, and at least get them started.
I pretty much got lost at the second step, because I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing with the Windows Phone UI. Do I need to unzip it before its found? Because nothing seems to be finding it. Does it need to go into a specific folder?
Desktop Visualizer isn't finding any of the icons either.
Any help at all would be appreciated, because this wasn't any.
it looks great.. thanks

Copy homescreen layouts

How can I copy my homescreen icons/layout from Apex to Themer?
What I want is:
1) Copy the homescreen grid shortcut items, folders, widgets.
2) Copy the grid layout, so if it's 7x7 in Apex, it will be 7x7 in Themer.
If I could do this just once that would be great.
If I could add a shortcut to copy them over whenever, that would be better.
If I could mirror, so anything deleted, moved, or added on one would be done to the other....

Hi,
You can change the grid layout in Themer by long pressing on the homescreen - Advanced - More - Desktop - Desktop Grid Size.

Is there any way to copy over the icons and wigits / folders? Maybe an app does it? I've looked at a bunch, I'm guessing it's not developed.

We don't think an app will do this, but copying your icons and widgets manually won't take too long You can then save your layout so you'll never lose it

I've been testing apps and launchers, done a lot of reconfiguring.
Many of the features of a Launcher are also available as separate apps, so it seems the most important is stability, special features, active development. Right now Themer has no search in app manager (which is being redone) but there are a bunch of app manager apps to use instead, none that I'm happy with so far, but the only way to find the perfect setup is to do a lot of reading and testing. So, the app manager that ships with a launcher could be a selling feature, but is not a reason to not go with a launcher.
Unfortunately, few devs code for one-hand use with a dark background / light text in all apps. Most apps have the toolbar on top and the keyboard on bottom, makes no sense to me, everything should be where the user has his finger most.
