[Q] How to install the Contacts apk after flashing with CM7

Hi Guys,
I am looking at flashing my phone with CM7 now. Wanted to know if it is possible to install the some of the standard Motoblur stuff for example the contacts afterwards?
Anybody tried this at all?
Thanks
i want the stock contact apk as well, it helps match the contacts automatically, which is awesome
hi, sry to say that, but it's not possible, motoblur is rooted deep into the system so it's not possible to use motoblur software outside a motoblur rom.
greetings
motoblur contact app needs the support of Blur framework. the same for SMS app, etc.

[Q] New APPs in old OSs

After trying a couple of Froyo and Gingerbread roms I've gotten back to the Eclair 2.1 one with the black Rom. I think it gives me a faster performance, better stability and consumes way less battery. Anyway, I miss some things.
a) A decent Contacts/Phonebook/Phone calls app
b) I've managed to install the dual touch driver in the phone but some apps doesn't seem to care
The default internet browser.
Google maps
Photo gallery (doesn't matter since I found the installer of the gallery in cyanogen CM7 V20 mod.
My questions are:
Would it be possible to install the contacts app and the internet browser of Froyo or Gingerbread in Eclair?
How can I make Google Maps realize that my phone supports dual touch?
Try TouchPal Dialer, it's very good and free.
As for browsers, I'd recommend Ninesky or Opera Mini.

I've tried Opera mini and it's OK, but it's nothing compared to the default browser and I prefer the second even when it doesn't recognize the dual touch. I'll try the other two apps you say, but the thing is that I wanna know if there's a way I could bring the apps from a 2.3 ROM to a 2.1 one.
Tried touchpad dialer -> It's an OK app, but it sends me to my default app when I wanna edit, which doesn't solve the annoying problem of eclair when you merge contacts. It randomly chooses the name of the contact (Facebook, Twitter or the Name I gave it).
Tried also Ninesky -> Doesn't recognise my dual touch.

[Q] Gingerbread Contacts on ICS?

Hi,
I've have recently upgraded my Galaxy S from Darky Rom v10.2 to Cyanogen Mod 9 (ICS).. Absolutely EVERYTHING is better...
Except....
The contacts application (both dialer and 'people') that comes with ICS is not as good as the Gingerbread versions. Obviously the ICS versions look prettier but with the older versions you could:
- swype left on a contact to message (brilliant)
- swype right on a contact to call (brilliant)
- easily access the contacts app from within the dialer via the tabs at the top
My question is... is it possible to use the gingerbread versions of the contacts and dialer apps on ICS... if so, HOW?
Cheers!
OK here is the thing. You are comparing apples to oranges. The first from is built off of Samsung UI. The swipe left and right on contacts is part of the Samsung contacts app not the AOSP app that CM uses. Your best bet would be to find a 3rd party contacts app.
Like zelendel said. That's the Samsung modified contacts app and it's not the same as stock gingerbread. Try exDialer, has all the features you're asking for and looks good.

[Q] Stock GB SMS app (or simular) in ICS?

Hi, after using my HTC Hero since it was launched I finally recieved an SGSII at work.
I really love the phone, and have been able to tweak most things to my likings, but the iPhone-wannabe-ish SMS thread viewer is definately not to my taste. No big issue, ofcourse, but I'm still posting about it in case some of you skilled Android-hackers/users have an easy solution. On my Hero I really loved the look of the SMS app in FroydVillain (Froyo) and Decked (GB). I'm honestly not sure, but I think they both ran stock unthemed SMS apps. Black baground, white text, clean interface without those silly bubbles. I've been trying to do a Google image search but haven't found out how the stock SMS app really looks in ICS so I don't know if the cartoonish iPhone-bubbles are from TW or AOSP.
I dont want some bloated and ugly SMS apps like Handscent or Go SMS that I've heard cause problems like duplicate sms-es.
Also, since the phone is my eployer's I want to avoid flashing/rooting it, so simply installing mms.apk from a different ROM is not possible afaik.
So, any suggestions? I guess I'm sort of hoping someone already compiled a binary/apk based on mms.apk that can easily be installed and used as the default messaging app.
