Revert to stock? - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

Hey,
I have recently flashed and installed a custom CM7 rom to my Galaxy 5 but i am not happy with the results and i wish to go back to Stock 2.2- i stupidly didnt create a backup, so can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get back to stock, i am completely new to this kind of stuff so please try and keep it simple!
Thanks

go to samfirmware.com and download the rom for your phone.
Then use odin to install it on your phone

[Q] bricked.....where did i go wrong?

So i'm pretty noob with all this stuff but i finally decided to try flashing my phone and, in the end, ended up with a "bricked" (or the extent a vibrant can be bricked) phone. Thanks in advance for the advice.
what i did
I followed the flashing guide in the sticky post "** GUIDE - TIPS - TRICKS ** Last Update 12/03/10 ** READ BEFORE ASKING" and everything worked great. I downloaded Rom manager, made a nandroid backup of my stock rom, flashed it with bionix fusion and everything worked great. I didn't do the titanium backup and there was an app that i needed to use the next day so on the way to work, i decided to restore back to the stock thinking that i could go back for the day, use the apps that i needed and when i got home got home, back up my apps with titanium back up and restore again back to the bionix fusion. So i did that. I went to rom manager and I first backed up my bionix fusion rom and then tried to recover my stock rom. When the phone restarted, it didn't go past the vibrant/samsung screen.
The question...
what went wrong? based on some reading i think it has something to do with the kernel but i'm not really sure.
but the real question is, how do i avoid from this happening again? did i do the recovery wrong? what's the best way to unbrick my phone back to stock without losing any data on the phone. is it possible????
at this point, i can go into download mode. what should be my next move?
Thank you again if you can provide any insight.
*edit*
So looking at some posts, I looks like I need to flash the stock kernel. can anyone tell me how to flash just the kernel using odin? I've never used it and I can't seem to find anything on flashing just the kernel. Thank you.
Problem SOLVED!
ok. not completely solved T_T.
What i've done.
I've flashed back to stock vibrant firmware and that works fine. When i try to restore my nandroid backup, and it reboots, I get stuck back to the same place i was. I made two nandroid backups and tried them both but neither of them work. am i doing it wrong? I have even re-rooted my vibrant and downloaded rom manager again and tried it through there and still get the problem. have tried it about 4 times now with no luck.
Again, any help is appreciated.
Nandroid doesnt replace the kernal
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Exactly, nandroid doesn't replace the kernel. If you want to run a nandroid restore, you have to either flash the rom the nandroid was created on, then restore (safest imho), or flash a compatible kernel for the rom from which your nandroid was created, then run your nandroid restore.

Pretty sure this was in the sticky too

[Q] froyo

I am coming from one of team whiskeys 2.1 roms and I havent looked much into other roms since then about 2 months ago or so. I want to try going Froyo with Nero 3. I have Odin downloaded and kind of get how to use it and stuff. But when going from eclair to froyo everybody says to odin to stock.. Well which rom is the stock one and is it stock 2.1 I am supposed to odin back to or is it the 2.2 stock? and Is there any other steps I should follow after odin-ing back to "stock" I have downloaded much of what I needed and have been searching for a while And i remember seeing a post a long while ago on the steps i should follow but my search skills aren't the greatest. Thanks in advance for any help!

If you are on Fusion 2.1, just use rom manager and install this using install from SD card option. You should be OK. If that does not help try ODIN.
Incase you are stuck and need to revert back to stock or want to take the long route just incase then use this file
Stock Rom
PIT File for ODIN
Thanks. I just tried it and everything seemed to have flashed over okay. I just didnt know if it was required to odin to stock first or not. Everything is working pretty good so far. gonna mess around with a few new kernels now.

Install Rom Manager from Market, Make sure you have Busy Box & Super user app. Launch rom Manager, Select Clockwork Recovery, Select your device from pop up window. Select Reboot to Clockwork Recovery menu. Phone will restart, select reinstall packages it will restart again and take you into Clockwork menu.
Tried this twice and it keeps taking me back to the stock recovery mode... Dont know why.
*edit*
Had to reinstall packages twice and it finally worked. Everything is gravy. Gonna see if the SuperIO kernel is better than the stock+Voodoo5...

Galaxy S Vibrant stuck in samsung screen .

Hi guys, I really need a big help over here . Before i flash my 2.1 to custom rom (the latest miui which looks very attractive ) i backup the rom using rom manager and flash my vibrant to the miui firmware then i backup it once more and i feel doesn't comfortable with it then i go for a backup again .When i intended to restore a error occur which is mdu5 missing (i think so) then i select my 1st backup (2.1) then i let my rom manager do it all but my vibrant NOW stuck in samsung home screen which doesn't move into vibrant screen . i try to get into download mode but no luck !!! Urgent need a big help !!!
By the way my vibrant is hardware locked .
ODIN to stock. From there root and flash the MIUI of your choosing. If you are trying to flash "ReVaMpEd" version, keep in mind you will still need to flash the "Original MIUI for US" first. Then the "ReVaMpEd". Either way that should get you to where you wanna be with MIUI, ENJOY!
If you ever plan to use the "nandroid" backup you made of the stock 2.1, you will need to ODIN back to stock, then root, and then restore the nandroid backup. Being that once on MIUI you will be on 2.3.5 gingerbread. You never wanna restore a backup of a different firmware then what you are currently running.
Good luck!

what he said above ....
i always almost prefer to Odin to stock even before I restore any backup. so I have a clean platform to work from.
Thanks for trying hard to solve my problem but the problem is .... i mention that my device is hardware locked means that i cant get through download mode ... is there anyway other way i can get into download mode ?
Buy a JIG. I honestly would keep trying the buttons though.
I know this is old but did you fix?

[Q] Help with reverting back to stock

So I've been running MIUI on my HTC EVO 4G for a while and have been jumping from ROM to ROM, I went to download CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 and, although the ROM was working and I flashed the Android Market also, it wouldn't allow me to download any apps . I tried doing this on multiple ROMs and nothing would let me download any apps at all, so I wanted to try going back to stock and unrooting, I tried flashing a PC36IMG.zip file on my phone and it wouldn't work, for some reason I can still download apps on MIUI though. Could someone please either help me figure out what I did to my phone or find a way to unroot and go back to stock?

Help Returning Back To Stock?

Hey guys, I've had the Galaxy Player 4.0 for a while now, and I've rooted, tried out multiple ROMs & Kernels, and I'm just not really with its performance anymore, and I'm looking to return it. I've been looking and I didn't really find the stock firmware straight out of the box that I can just flash with Odin. Any help? Thank you.
I just restarted it after what was said to be stock firmware, and it still had Superuser, and root permissions, clockword, download mode, etc. I want all of this gone. Someone please help
