A Shocking Issue - HTC EVO 3D

Literally! I've had a few instances where the stock headphones have delivered a little bit of a shock to my ear!
I'm not sure if it is some sort of static electric discharge or what! Nothing really painful or serious, I don't think, but has anyone else had this issue?

Watched an unboxing video on youtube some weeks ago, it was a cdma sprint Evo 3D...no earphones here.
But here is an unboxing video of an gsm phone, recorded a week ago:
..seems, that the gsm version got earphones =P
Will receive my gsm evo tomorrow, hopefully also with earphones =D

Pfft. Stock headphones have always sucked balls...
...here is one more reason as to why! Lol

this has happened several times to me with several phones with headphones that have cushions on them. static discharge right into your f- in ears!

The only tine I got shocked was when I was going down a plastic slide with headphones on. Im glad it didn't damage my phone in the process.

Don't feel too cheated! They're pretty low quality headphones, but I'm kind of hard on headphones, so until I get another set, I'm kind of stuck with them for now
I've used countless headphones over the course of my life, and these are the first to shock me! I'd heard of iPhone headphones zapping unsuspecting users, but never any other ones...
Uh oh... Maybe we should close this thread before Steve Jobs sees it! :O I think Apple might own the patent on electro-static discharge!
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using Tapatalk

Apple owns the patent for audible vibrations emanating from a electromagnetic coil.

they have the patent for a power button too right? I've gotten shocked a bunch of times mainly It's my own fault taking clothes out of the dryer when I got to put a drier sheet in or wearing anything fleace.

That would be apple patent #1,956,754: Hardware mechanism or mechanisms that require a physical motion to power on/off an electronic or mechanical device.

EVO 3d doesn't come with headphones.

Evo 3D Survives Car Accident

I just got my car yesterday made a month. 2005 Impala it had a problem when I got it, the car shakes when I hit 50mph or over. I took it to the dealership and they told me all it needed was a speed balance and it's been working ever since until today. I was on 75 doing about 60mph in the last lane to the left. All of a sudden my car start with the shakes again. I got kind of nervous cause I was going around a bend so I started holding the wheel with two hands. It was still shaking so I tried to slow down but the steering wheel started to go towards the left I tried to hold it steady and pump the brake to slow down but all of a sudden the car started to slide and I tried to avoid sliding into traffic to the right. I tried to lean into the wall and the car made a loud sound I thought the tire popped and all of a sudden I smacked the left wall and slid to the other side of the freeway and hit that wall and came to a stop. No air bags deployed my OG Evo was in my pocket and the Evo 3D was on the sprint universal dock in the middle of the car right above the radio. When things cleared up my 3D was up against my cracked up windshield I thought the glass would have been cracked it only had the Sprint hard snap on case and the phone was find it just turned off and took a while to cut on. The car dock holster for the phone came completely off and was on the floor in the passenger side of the car on the floor. The car is totaled I'm pretty much glad I'm okay. The ambulance guys were like how are you okay all the tires were balled and the engine dropped and none of my airbags deployed. He said looks like I was sold a BOLD car he asked what insurance I have told him Progressive full coverage and he said I would sue cause the car look like its a lemon sale or some term with lemon in it that they sold me. The police came looked at the tired and said they were all the way down to the bridge that how ball they were he told me to file a law sue to GM for the airbag as for the tires the dealership.
Pictures up in a few minutes. Have to post them from my OG Evo
Damn, that's intense. Glad to hear you're alright. As far as the airbag issue, I bet the stealership did something to them, not GM.
omfg dood! glad you survived!
How the heck do u buy a car without A) test driving it both at low and high speeds, and B) not look at what condition the tires were in.... Your buying used, and I'm afraid to say both you and the dealership should of caught it. But I'm glad you're safe.

Yea man I appreciate it. I was so worried I didn't know what to think I just didn't want to slide into traffic. If I didn't have on a seat belt I wouldn't be here right now. It could be but I'm definitely going to try and fight it man I got a car note on that car for 15,000+ and it's totaled due to a problem I told them about and on top of that I hit two walls and dragged against one of them and the neither of the airbags came out.

I did a low speed test drive like around the blocks a few times but not a high speed after I got the car I got on the freeway and noticed it took the car back and told them about it. That's when they told me to get a speed balance. After that it was okay until today.(Edited) but I don't know much about cars I should have researched it. Thanks I appreciate it

This is annoying. I just started getting dust under my screen 4 different spots.
Anyone else experience this issue and does anyone know if Sprint would replace or clean it if I bought it from amazon?

I found some plugs to use when your not charging or listening to music to stop dust from getting in. Go to topicovers.com, costs 5 to ship a 2 dollar item but if you don't like dust its worth it.

Camera rattle and my OCD

Okay, guys, talk me down from the ledge here. I have an otherwise perfect Photon that has a rather loud camera rattle. I can hear it when I pick it up and put it down, and when I put it to my ear for a call. I try to ignore it, but it just keeps rattling JUST enough to remind me it's there.
Now, I know it's not a problem, doesn't affect the phone's performance, isn't going to result in failure, etc. But, my OCD doesn't allow me to ignore it. Tell me I'm crazy, that yours does the same and is just as loud, and convince me to stay with the Photon and not give the SGSII a try. Because of course I experienced nothing but horrible GPS and Bluetooth reliability with my Epic, along with questionable call quality and painfully long update cycles--all of which (so far) the Photon has demonsrated it doesn't suffer from. Samsung shouldn't benefit from my neurosis.
Consider this a voluntary intervention. I need help. I try putting the Photon in the car dock and just relax and enjoy the lack of hiss and seamless operation, and the speed of the phone in general, and the great screen performance in the SoCal sun. But that rattle--it haunts me.
Help. Help me, please.

its the battery. take your battery door off and you'll notice the battery shaking. its nothing to be worried about if you exchange it the next one will do the same thing if you are really worried about it put a sticky note in there or something to have it fit more snugly.
I have it and it does not bother me. A suggestion is get a case like otterbox and see if that might drown it out enough for you.

Guys this has been explained before. This is the lens cover that protects the retina of the camera. It is large, heavy and hangs loosely on a mechanism inside of the physical camera block. There is nothing wrong with the Photon, they all do this when the camera is not on (in which the flap is pulled securely off to the side), and there is no way to stop it from making this sound.

I know, I know. Hopefully it's clear that my post was 99% tongue-in-cheek. The 1% that's serious is that it really does drive me batty, even if I "know" it's not actually a problem. I suppose I really just wish Motorola hadn't bought a camera that's designed this way. Some people (like me) are really bothered by rattles and such in devices that are expected (rightly or wrongly) to not make such noises.

Refurbished Evo 3D has ridiculously-better build quality than original

I just found this interesting... I originally had HW001 with craptastic speaker and a cheaper feel to it, that also overheated... I had Sprint replace it with a brand-new handset which was HW003. This one felt even cheaper and the speaker was the same. I had given up hope, because HTC typically has poorer build quality than most of the competition.
Well my cat knocked the phone off of the coffee table and broke the screen, and Assurian sent me a HW002 refurb... this thing is tight, it runs cool, and sure enough, the speaker is as loud as my Evo 4G was. I don't understand it. Perhaps when they refurbished the device, they replaced the speaker/audio amp? It's ridiculously-loud, I'm telling you. I can hear music over the shower now... I never miss a notification anymore. Also the vibrator motor is MUCH stronger. I don't get how there can be so many variations on build quality, but again, it's HTC.
Just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone was frustrated and had given up hope. I dealt with that craptastic 003 hw for almost a year... I'm pretty pissed that I didn't push back harder, earlier. Oh well, you live and learn.
Also, audio is MUCH louder through the headphones, which makes me think the audio amplifier was replaced with a better unit when refurbished. It can get to the point where it actually distorts when I plug it into my car, and I have to turn it down on the phone side. Previously, it never got loud enough. This was a problem with my Logitech speaker dock, that couldn't compensate for the low source volume. Now it's crazy-loud as well.
Is the EVO known for overheating? My original Sprint EVO felt really hot one day
then kept rebooting; eventually i had to get it replaced. This one still gets hot but no looping reboots now.

Both my evo 3d and 4G over heats.
I had a refurb sent to me by asurion that had a better quality screen with more natural colors and rhe vibration motor was "smoother" and a lot quieter , but the phone was riddled with problems... Blue tint under glass, proximity sensor broken, capacitive lights kept lit when screen was off....
So asurion replaced that one too and its just like the one you described, but the vibration isbjust TOO loud now! I dont like it at all. Build quality overall is superb tho.
What does the sticker say on the back? This second replacement I'm using has a white sticker that says "Remanufactured in Indonesia" whereas my first replacement had a regular dark gray sticker like the retail one.

I've been doing that since Launch day with my Evo 3D and Evo 4G. Never had a problem with it because of that. My phones never had problems. Only a tilted screen and lame speaker on the 3D which I recently found out about.
Although it may not have affected your phone, generally speaking... humid air is bad.
I'm a EE major, and circuits are pretty damn sensitive. Exposing them to "wet" air is never good/common sense. It's the same reason why you shouldn't smoke in your computer room, because cigarettes create "wet" air (cigarette dust).

Lmao samsung has issues
I've never had hardware issues with a samsung phone. My Evo 3d had a touch screen failure, the power button has a deformed nub under it which makes it not work well, has light bleed, weak vibration issues, and the headphone jack acts odd bc it thinks i plugged in a headset and executes random commands like dialing numbers. It gets hot if I charge and use the phone at the same time but thats acceptable to me bc its kinda powerful

Each phone has flaws.. Samsung is slow when it comes to updates and fixes.. HTC is known for dust under the glass among other things... But both do good if you get lucky and find a good one thats not a bad lemon..
The only issue I've personally had with HTC was the ridiculous light leakage several of my OG Evo's had. But the 3D I was sent as a replacement has been perfect though!
It seems that HTC has taken all this into account with the one x ..the build quality looks terrific, ppl are saying it's the best smartphone screen they have seen and most of all to Me yhr camera has been greatly improved ..its the HTC I've been waiting for ..I still think my 3d is a speedy phone can't imagine what the krait evo lte will be like

Well, the Evo LTE wasn't released yet so they could have lowered the build quality to fit the Evo style.
/joking
IMO the evo is superior to the one x in a couple ways ..the SD card slot is huge and also the larger battery is a welcome addition. I'm very excited about this one..I think the e3d is a good device and it got slammed in most reviews the one x (evo) looks like a beast ..love the screen quality. So tired of hearing how superior samoled is ..ppl actually are saying it bests the gnex pentile display
I partially agree with this.
My refurb has a perfectly aligned screen, but the thin bezel that separates the glass from the plastic is warped. I suppose it's a decent tradeoff. At least now I can look at my screen and not be able to instantly tell that it is a few mm off. The 3D slider is still loose and irritating though.

MEElectronics Sport-Fi S6. Black/Red

So I got these headphones as part of a challenge from MEElectronics. At first glance they may seem simply the Sport version of the m6, but taking a closer look they are way more. They are some great sound isolating IE buds that are worth way more than their MSRP. Check this write up and let me know what you think. It may be a bit long but I want to be as detailed as I can
In Box Contents: earbuds, extension cable, armband, plenty of tips in different sizes, manual, carrying case, and clip!
Look:
These headphones look sweet! Not to mention the red and black combination are perfect for my Evo LTE since I have the black one. They have a nice design to them, and they definitely look slick! I've always been a fan of the red cable so I was happy to see that in these.
Fit:
As you can see from the pictures, these headphones come with loads of tips! They have a set for pretty much every sort of ear out there. I myself would have to say have a "normal" ear if there is such a thing and my ear canal is not huge or tiny either so several of the tips worked well for me. They also have what they call Memory Wire near the buds. This wraps around the ear for an even more secure fit. Honestly it took some playing with it to get it right but it was worth the time; once they are in and locked in place they aren't going anywhere! I went for a run in these bad boys and I have been known to sweat up a storm. All I can say is they stayed the whole time and never had to readjust!
Durability:
I have only had these for 4 days. I have ran twice with them and both times got very sweaty. They are marketed as being sport sweat resistant and so far so good. They have not messed up on me or anything so that is awesome! The cable on these is a good thickness. It seems durable but not bothersome. Included is a carry case for the whole kit so that really helps to keep these babies safe! The case is pretty tough and can hold up to some abuse.
Sound:
Ok, the most important part - sound. Let me start by saying I have many years of experience with headphones, speakers, and anything audio related. My current running headphones were some Bose and as we all know they're not the best out there I really like the sound on these headphones! The bass is just right for me and I can actually enjoy hearing my music with most/all of it's instrumentation unlike many other brands out there for listening to some "beats" lol. Bass is very present, and more than enough to shake a few screws loose up there. The highs were surprisingly clear, and this is something not found in most "bassy" earbuds. For being workout headphones they're awesome!! You won't get better sound plus sweat resistance in anything out there that I've seen. The only bad thing I noticed was that the mids were a bit muddied up at times right out of the box. Of course this is not a big deal out of the box, now if it were the case after burn in then I'd be upset!! But, I just finished the burn in period today and I did notice some improvement in the miss being clearer and more defined now.
Major plus here was the cable being pretty silent compared to other IE buds. Cable noise drives me crazy!! Thankfully these didn't have that problem.
IMPORTANT!!!
These isolate sound pretty well! That's a huge deal when you're in noisy environments and want to get away from the noise BUT it can be an issue if you're running out in the street with traffic so just a heads up! I'm actually going to try them out as in ear monitors pretty soon so I'll let you know how that goes
Overall I can just say I love my new S6. Check them out, they're pretty legit.
They look really nice. I have the klipsch s4a and the are really good also. The color on yours are definitely a plus. Like the red and black.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Put them through the test as monitors and they worked pretty well! For.their.price.range these bad boys are awesome
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Update:
Left some tips in my truck and the sun some damage to them! But I tried those warped tips on and I love them!! Got way better fit since they expanded and seal even better. Bass is now tight but very present
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I bought the black ones about 8 months ago, they work pretty good, no signs of wear yet, I use them to go walking 3 times a week,
the sound quality might not be as good as you would expect right out of the box, you have to let them burn out a little ..
I'm a satisfied customer!
I recently got MEElectionic's A151 headphones/earbuds. Only $50 and so far I like them much better than the Beats, Bose, and Klipsch that I've had.
wow the MEElectronics A151's are only $50 on Amazon right now....making it tough to decide b/w them or the MEElectronics Sport-Fi S6's....I currently have Klipsch S4a's and was interested in the features of the Sport-Fi S6's, but I believe the A151's are supposed to be better and at the same price now it throws a kink into it.....
They are awesome. For running and sports though best choice is s6 given durability. Can't go wrong with either as far as sound goes. Both are awesome value. I've been using my.s6 as iem and am very happy

I'm usually not to given to fall into the hype of little features lol but in this case to me it was worth it. But that's just because they're specifically my running headphones. I just finished a nice run right now btw, dripping sweat and they never missed a beat!
Thanks for putting me on to this company. I consider myself a mild audiophile but it seems I need to get back into the game! Had never heard of these guys until now. For $50 I may give them a try. These would be primarily used for weight lifting and 40-200 meter sprints.

used them both at work this morning here just now and the first initial thing I noticed is that the A151's are about 2x as loud than the Sport Fi's....give the clearity edge slightly to the A151's too but all that is expected given the specs of each set....
both are designed to have the cord go over your ear but the sprotfi's can save the angle when bent, and also has the detachable extension, along with armband it comes with where as the A151's you dont have those lil features...The 151's cord is twisted unlike the Sportfi's and does have the little thing to stop the earbuds from getting tangled also like the sportfi's do...
I guess it comes down to what you want...audio quality or the extra lil features the Sportfi's have and deal with the lessor audio quality(though its not bad)...

Hmm maybe I should buy those again and give them a other run, not for running though since I sweat buckets

I'd test out the Klipsch S4a set too....I have those also and while they are not as loud as the A151's the clearity is there for sure and might even be better....dunno for sure though...
