[Q] can i use iphone/itouch charger (change usb cable) for mini pro? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

can i use iphone/itouch charger (change usb cable) for mini pro?
i busted my charger, i wonder if its ok to use apple charger
just exchange the use cable to charge my mini pro?

as long as iphone cable match with ur phone, why not..of coz u can..

If the charger have a USB port, then you're good to go, but just make shure the output voltage is around 3.7~5V DC (Altough I think that every phone in the world uses that voltage )

yeah, but se charger has 850mA and iphone charger has 1Amp.. is that ok?

Yes, you can.
Olso i use the charger of an iphone 3g for my x10 mini.
Stai tranquillo
All USB chargers are compatible (ok, most of them. Sometimes its just better to check voltage of charger. From 4,2v to 5v it's ok)
The best thing with usb is you can plug it in anywhere. Xbox, pc and media player. Me and my wife share chargers, my x10mp upstairs and her htc downstairs.
The only exception seems to be my boss's blackberry which uses a molded cable and mini-usb... how inconsiderate of him!
As it has been said as long as voltages are within range they should be fine, though beware some have rediculously low 'mA' rating which may slow or even discharge your phone. But if the 'mA' is high its fine as the phone/battery will regulate it.

but what about the Amperes?
i think SE charger has 850mA while iphone charger has 1Amp
but they have same voltage 5V

As long as the mA is the same or higher than the SE charger its fine. The mA is the output capacity of the charger, you could in theory have a 10A 5v charger and it would charge the same as the phone would only draw 850mA.
However, if the mA is lower (say 100mA) then it could discharge the battery instead of charging it.

thanks for the knowledgeable answer

Battery charger

Hello folks, i've got a simple question:
I had a x10 mini pro which it was stolen to me and i was only left with its battery charger (ec700) could it be safely used instead/in alternative to the mini pro boxed one (ec450)? there shouldn't be any real difference cause of the usb, am i right?

Make sure the output is with the same rating as the stock charger (DC 5V 850mAh). I am not sure what's the rating of standard PC/notebook USB ports, but should be lower.
I am tempted to try my galaxy tab charger (DC 5V 2Ah=2000mAh) but I'm afraid it could fry the charging facility who knows cos its more than twice the one of stock, but should charge in half the time.

Try it? I think it won't harm your phone (there's a USB charging spec), and even if it does, nobody can prove that you used a 2000mAh charger so you shouldn't have trouble getting the phone replaced...
No worries im using a 10 year old laptop with usb 1.0 as charger right now

will using a different USB charger cause damage to the phone?

I have the original charger that came with our X10, I also have a 3rd party car charger and I charger for a different phone in my office. I use all 3 of these chargers to keep my X10 charged up.
My question is this. Do all USB chargers have the same voltage and amp specifications?
So will my car/office charger damage my phone?

USB is 5V as long as I remember. I've charged my phone with car & galaxy s2 charger and it is still working, so it shouldn't make any difference.
Usb is what the pc pumps out
Car charger is what the adaptor pumps out, same for mains charger.
Chargers normally tell you what current what is pumped out,so check that out.
Usb must be more of a trickle charge...

USB Charger
Well for me, the USB cable is broken (never really understood why the design for microUSB's had the little flimsy teeth at the end). I simply replaced the cable with an LG brand and attached it to the original Sony charging block. Havent had any problems since.

[Q] Xperia Sola not charging from car charger

I have been googling the issue but can't find any good answers.
I recently bought an Xperia Sola, but it won't charge from any of my car chargers.
Please note that I have systematically tried to eliminate error sources:
I have 4 different model of car chargers (I have two of a few of them, in total I have 6 USB car chargers), in 3 of them I have soldered to short D+ and D- to make my old HTC Hero use more than 500 mA (chargers can give 1 A or more). The model without the short can only give 500 mA so I haven't modified it.
Now, all four chargers will without problems charge the following devices: My old HTC Hero, my old Zen Vision: M, my daughters ZTE Blade, my sons X10 Mini Pro and my kids iPads. So, the chargers are working, the micro-USB cable works with the Blade and X10 Mini Pro (the Hero, the Zen and the iPads don't have micro-USB).
But my Sola won't even recognize it's connected to a charger.
But the Sola charges fine with half a dozen different wall socket chargers, as well as from the PC USB port and a solar cell battery pack I have.
But not any single of the car chargers I have tried...
So, what does the Sola expect from the car charger that the chargers I have are missing?? I bought car chargers with a USB port to be able to use them for all our stuff that can charger from USB with just different cables, it would really suck to have to buy yet another car charger that will have to be dedicated to the Sola...
I have the same problem! I have USB car charger from DX and it works great on Desire HD and Samsung Galaxy Mini. But Xperia Sola doesn't want even start charging!
Have you tried a car to usb adapter and then use the original cable that comes in the box for the Sola?

I didn't try with Xperia's USB cable. I don't think that the cable can make any difference.
But I also tryed original charger from my Garmin Nuvi 205w and also it can not charge Xperia Sola.
I have tried both the original cable and half a dozen other cables. They all work with the wall chargers as well as the USB solar cell battery pack. But not with any of the car chargers...
Luckily I can use my old HTC Hero (running CoPilot) as a GPS in the car. But it would be nice to be able to charge the Sola in the car too... Now I have to charge the USB solar cell battery pack from the car and then the phone from the battery pack. Not a very neat solution.
I had the same problem with my Sola. Then I bought original Sony Ericsson charger and it works now.
Try this one: Sony Ericsson Micro USB Car Charger AN401 (1200mA, price 12EUR)

From my post: "it would really suck to have to buy yet another car charger that will have to be dedicated to the Sola..."
I had the same problem: when I connected the USB cable to the 700mA car charger, the orange LED on Sola blinked and it didn't charge.
Now I am using a 1000mA car charger and up to now it seems to work fine.

Interesting, since my 1000 mA chargers don't work... I wonder what the difference is...

I know this isn't the thread for my device but it's still a sony and I'm just trying to help. My xperia m charges fine when connected to a computer. As an experiment, I slipped a bit of paper between the two inside pins on the computer side(D+ and D-). No charging in xperia m, but charging in Galaxy mini. Is this a software limitation or hardware limitation. I am guessing hardware.
Old thread, but I finally bought a Sony charger and it works. Still can't understand why the other ones didn't. At least now I am able to charge my phone in the car.

Could you share with me the charger? I've made myself homemade charger from 4AA bateries it works with all other devices except my Xperia L(Might be the same problem)
If I recall correct it's called AN401 or AN402 (I think they are the same charger, only different cable).
Turns out, Sony implemented restrictions in the kernel. Google something called float charging, of you're interested.
