[Q] SOD on galaxy ace GT-S5830

Hey guys,
Just want to ask have anyone ever experience Sleep of Death(SOD) on your Ace?
SOD is that the phone goes into deep sleep or u can say it shuts down automatically when your screen is off for about 10 minutes...sometimes you must remount your battery only it will start up...its kinda annoying because you have to reboot 4 or 5 times a day!!!
I flashed my friend's stock rom from 2.3.4 xxkpn - 2.3.4 xxkph and rooted, deodexed, and have CodeRom v2x-2b flashed.
Everything goes nice and smooth...but the next day it goes SOD even so, i reflashed everything for 3 times but still things don't get solved.
But funny thing is i flashed my Ace with specification above everything is working superbly fine since the 1st day till now, but my friend's Ace goes SOD.
If there is anyone have experience on solving SOD don't mind sharing it??
because tried methods such as turning off wifi while screen is off and other methods posted on the internet but still won't work...thanks
yes, it's a common problem with SGA. for some people it happens everyday, for others it happens once a weak. you never know.
there are custom roms that dnt have this problem. right now i'm using GingerReal-2.0. it's very stable and fast.
oh...will try that ROM someday...but i'm still satisfied with my CodeRom
thanks bro.
SOD problem on SGA solved!!!
The cause of the 'SOD' is all because of the wifi when there is no connectivity or the phone is unable to connect. This has been tested for several times.
Just make sure to turn off the wifi when you are not in use and the 'SOD' problem will be solved.
The same for me
I'm also experiencing SODs with this smartphone. The Wi-Fi trick seems to help, but it is really unfriendly to the user. So, still waiting for a real fix.
There 2 other big threads wholly devoted to the problem:

[q] [q&a] wifi sharing 2.3.5

Greetings! Big time android n00b here but am an electronics technologist so I'm pretty savvy. So bare with me...
On Virgin, Canada
Just got my first GS2... YAY!
so far it's amazing
there is, however, one problem. Wifi sharing and wifi sharing manager drain the heck out of my battery. When i turn wifi on, the two applications turn on. When I turn wifi off, the two applications stay on and drain my battery an insane amount. I have to manually force close the two apps in order for them to stay closed. If i turn wifi on again, they start up again... I've read up on this quite a lot and was wondering if anybody has found a solid solution to this problem. So far, I've found that people seem to have had success with flashing a leaked version of 2.3.6...
Also, will Samsung ever "officially" release 2.3.6. Kies just tells me I have 2.3.5 and that it is the latest version. But surely this isn't the case. Damn Kies...
On my friends GS2, same model except he flashed XWKL1 onto it, works well. wifi sharing/manager turn on when wifi is turned on. Respectively, turn off when wifi is turned off...
help?

l2_hsic prevents my device from Deep Sleep. How to fix it?

Hello, I have installed BetterBatteryStats and CPU SPY, because I noticed that I had a faster than normal battery consumption when the tab was left alone.
I made a 30 mins test Wifi OFF, Flight Mode On, where the 29 mins of them showed me l2_hsic under Kernel Wakelock -> Since Unplugged.
Does anyone know what causes this and how to prevent it ?
Thank you.
( I am running Stock ICS 4.0.4 rooted)
Same problem here.
I am also having this issue as well using stock ics.
Hopefully someone might have an idea on solving this issue.
seems its a bug in 4.03 or 4.04 Roms , I searched internet and could not find any solution , The idea is this kernel wakelock is caused by some settings related issues like gps or wife or... , now I'm doing some investigation and try to find the root cause, however I wish an expert could bring some solution here
As I promised to report here is what I experienced:
My Tablet is P7500 and I did wipe , remove many applications , put in flight mode , disable this and that ,..... none of them where effective
and finally:
2 weeks ago I removed my simcard from tablet , Just to try to solve the issue I reinsert the sim and as you can see in attachment after around 45 minutes no l2_hsic wakelock .
what I mentioned above doesnt mean everybody have the same issue but I think its related to the sim and network discovery because during last 2 weeks I received notification in my status bar that says can not find network although it was on flight mode

You said 2 weeks ago you removed simcard from tablet and no more l2_hsic wakelock. Is your problem solved permanently?

Hi,
I have the exact same problem.
Tried all possible solutions with no result.
The only way is to let the Flight mode OFF, at least in my case, with stock rom TPH, WLP5.
I'm going nuts with this problem.
Yesterday I thought I had found the problem. DId several tests of getting in and out of the Flight Mode and everything was looking perfect, 5 & 6 hours of deep sleep. Then i connected a usb flash drive, that apparently also causes a kernel problem (see other posts about usb unmount). Rebooted the Tablet to solve the problem and here i go again with the l2_hsic preventing the device to deep sleep....:crying:
Hello,
I have the exact same problem and it's driving me crazy. Was anyone able to find out something new?
Thanks,
hugo.
A Custom ROM is the Solution
Hey guys, I am also a proud owner of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 but unfortunately, Samsung forgot about their flagship tablet and screwed up the kernel in an otherwise utterly awesome ICS Update. The only method to solve this problem is flashing another ROM no other go. This fixed the Deep Sleep issue for me, 12 and a half hours and I'm only down to 96%. So I suggest you Root your tab ( Instructions in this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBd9gMFCCrA ) and flash Toldo's JellyBeanRom ICS v6 ( This link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813651 ) and then enjoy the great Honeycomb battery standby on ICS (If you can't understand how to flash the ROM PM me :good
Happy Flashing Guys
i have toldo jellybeanrom v6 already flashed few weeks ago.. nothings changed, battery drain still remaining.
The problem is still there. AOKP 4.1.1 JellyBean, P7500 with sim card in. Same on CM10.
BTW. This is not a system issue (ICS or JellyBean). Rather something wrong in the kernels that come from Samsung. On my HTC One X (ICS) there is no such issue. Maybe some skilled developer could look at the difference in the source of this module between HOX and P7500?

[Q] strange wifi behaviour [cm10.1]

hi!
first of all i dont know if this is a s2, cm10.1 oder generell jb issue, got this problem on cm10 and cm9 as well.
following setup:
vdsl50, fritzbox 7390 running latest fw, wpa2 encryption, located in basement.
s2, running cm10.1 12.12.2012, baseband/modem I9100XXLQ6,no custom kernel(cm kernel)
(as refference) zte blade,running cm7, android 2.3.7
ground floor, when i enable wifi on s2 everything is fine, it connects with 65mbit/s and says good/excellent signal strength (wifi analyzer ~ -56dbm), after about 1-2 minutes it drops down to 5mbit/s ,however no connection drops.
i tryed same with my old zte blade, just for testing purpose and it connects fine with 54mbit/s and stays there, no drops at all.wifi analyzer shows same signal strength as on the s2.
i already tryed wep/no encryption on wifi ap, changed channel, switching 2,4ghz vs 5ghz.even when i'm just 1m away from the ap, no wall between it has excellent signal strength but still drops to 5mbit/s after 1 minute.
i also tryed several modems ( KH3, LQ6, LQ5, LS6) and matching RILs using GetRIL, nothing worked
i cant believe blade is performing that good in comparison to the s2...
anyone got a similar problem?i think its software related bei i don't know how it can be fixed
thx guys for your help
Your expecting stable WiFi connection on a pre alpha rom, on a device whose manufactures refuse to release the source code for the phone???
no i'm aware cm10.1 is in early alpha stage but got this issue on cm10, cm9, stock 4.0.4 und leaked jb stock as well so i guess its not caused by cm10.1

Wifi issues... Link speed

Hi... I have trouble with my wifi since yesterday...
The problem is that the phone can connect to the network perfectly but it has a really low link speed, 5 mbps and the wifi signal strenght is pretty good. I don't understand why this is happening.. .
What I have notice is that when I turn the wifi on, at first when the wifi icon is grey the wifi link speed is at 65 mpbs which I think that it was were it always has been but immediately turns to 5 mpbs.
Another thing that happens is that if I let the wifi on, after sometime it gets kinda like stuck, the connection is lost and the icon is grey but I can't turn it off.
My phone is a samsung galaxy s II (I9100) running CM rom, 10.2-20131014-NIGHTLY
Any advice about how to fix this problem?

You should try using a different rom like slimsaber rom by Fusionjack or cyanogenmod sabermod by Markox89.
Thanks for the reply, gsstudios.
I have a question, isn't there a way to fix the problem without having to use another rom? I don't think that the problem lays in the rom that I'm using, because like I said before, the problem started yesterday and I have the phone for a couple of years now.

You could try a different kernel like dorimanx 9.44 v005. If that bootloops, try dorimanx 8.44 v004. Since your WiFi toggle freezes after sometime, it could be a problem with the ROM. It could be due to some kind of corruption of the WiFi component in the ROM or maybe there is some interference with your WiFi signal.
Hope this helps, gsstudios
I installed Kernel_Dorimanx-V8.43-[12-21]-[24-10]-JB-SGII-PWR-CORE from dorimanx site and it didn't help with the situation, still I get a link speed of 5 mbps. Now, after flashing the kernel I have a new problem: I don't have root access anymore.
What can I do?

You should be able to get root access if you update SuperSU (if it's installed).
I can't update anything or do much things with the low link speed of wifi that the phone has...

Can't you send the file through your computer? Here is the flashable zip: http://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip?retrieve_file=1
Your problem with wifi seems very weird. Are you using 5ghz or 2.5ghz channel? If you've tried both, check if you wifi setting have changed on your router. And are you sure there is no interference that is potentially slowing down your signal?
Well, now things got worse, wifi directly won't turn on: not from the icon, not from the toggle bar. It's dead. I had the wifi on automatic so I don't know what band was on..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I found a way to get the wifi working again. But still I got the same problems like before: low link speed and after sometime the wifi freeze and I have to reboot the phone to get it working again.
On a side note, I have downloaded an app a few days back called wifi status wich is a widget app that let you see the wifi link speed and I don't understand a thing: it shows 2 things: the wifi link speed, for example 5mbps and down that shows something liike: -63dBm
That thing dBm is something that always change numbers...
Any idea of what that is?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now I have a link speed of 19mbps, a few minutes back was 26mbps... But it went back to 19 mbps... I don't know what is happening with the phone.
Help please, I don't know what to do...
