Apps to use with root. - HTC EVO 3D

I just acquired s-off and all the good stuff. Now what apps are essential or at least interesting to have with root? I had a couple for my Evo 4G but recollection of any of them is long gone. Except for Shoot Me.
Enlighten me fellow members. Thanks in advance.

I use root explorer and wifi tether most.
Oh, and titanium backup.

AntTek App Manager Root. Battery Calibrator. AdFree. CWM. FasterFix (GPS). TitaniumBackupPro. Terminal Emulator.
And many more
These are the ones I remember fast.

I have to throw in support for my app Flash Image GUI as it allows the flashing of kernels and recoveries from android w/o rebooting to recovery mode.
I consider it essential, but that might be a biased opinion!
Glad you're rooted!

Question on Titanium Backup. I had purchased a key for the full version when I had the 4G but now it doesn't show as purchased. Anyone know why that might be?
As far as doing an entire phone back up, what are recommended steps before jumping into a rom?
Thanks again for refreshing my mind.

Okay so I'm obviously new.. I flash many roms but it is so annoying that I always have to back up my apps with astro file manager but is there an easier was of backing up all my apps and everything else on the previous ROM so i don't have to through that extra crap to get everything perfect like my previous ROM.

Assuming you are rooted since you are flashing that many ROMs, don't most people use Titanium Backup? Has a batch mode to back up all system data and user apps... then I restore the ones I want.

Agreed. Titanium Backup can be downloaded for free from the Market and can be used to back up your apps to your SD card for later restoration.
+3 on Titanium Backup. Well worth the six bucks or so that it costs. Itll restore market links and apps alike. Theyve even got an auto restore feature. The free version is nice, but nothing beats the 0 click restore of the pro version.
Ti doesn't install data correctly on sense 3.0 roms. Just food for thought.

Temp root to remove Apps?

I've got an issue. Long story short i've got two versions of Spiderman on my phone. The demo and the full which means I've got two separate icons. I want to get rid of the demo version. Is it possible to use a temp root solution to get rid of the demo spiderman.

No, they come back. All changes are reverted regardless of what app/method/prayer you use. Lol.
While we're on the same topic, how do I use TitaniumBackup to remove apps?
I can't figure it out.
Or do you have to have TitaniumBackupPro?
Give this a try.

If you use adb to disable instead of removing them...they will still be disabled after a reboot.
If you use titanium backup to freeze any apps, they actually stay frozen after reboot. Haven't tried removing any though. I've had main bloatware apps frozen since temp root was first released. Have rebooted many times since then.

I think we need root to restore the AOL plus data using titanium. Same as sensation. The question is why hulu doesn't work on amaze when they have very similar specs. Hulu is slacking.

I dont remember which forum I got this from. but from what I understand is it's a backup of hulu off a droidx, use TI backup to restore. in the original thread people from other phones were saying it was working, so I'm hopeful it'll help us too until Hulu officially supports... Problem is need root for TI I'm still having issues getting the temp root, so maybe someone that did get that working can give it a shot.
edit: got it from rootz thunderbolt forum.... posted by huntken...

I can't get it to work on 1.4.1. Only 1.3.0 and earlier.
That's weird, I used the ti backup that I posted earlier on 1.4.1 without doing anything extra.... Fc or buffering network problems? x is using an adfree base, if it's network problems need to use adfree and do a revert or mod your hosts to stock... Which you probably know anyway, but just a reminder

I'll give that a try.
Yeah it shows up as "It appears you are having network issues. Please wait, or try again later."
But when I flash 1.2.1 it clears right up. I tried pushing the 1.2.1 build.prop over and that doesn't make any difference. I'll try the adfree bit as you suggested.
EDIT:
Holy sh!#
It actually worked. You sir... are a GODSEND! You have no clue. Now I can have my cake and eat it too. Hulu+ was the only reason I was staying on 1.2.0.
Thanks for the tip!

I'd still use Titanium Backup... I don't know if it's changed, but when they originally introduced it, it was used to install the encrypted (mostly the paid ones) apps from the Market
If you want your apps to work properly, back it up and restore it no matter how small or large it is.

yes when you do a nandroid backup, and then restore it. as they said above it holds some data for the apps, especially if you did one of those "move2sd" things. If i dont back it up and restore it, the app will either not be installed, or not open properly

Multi-questions

Let me first say :glad to be back (3-4 years back had a nokia with symbian that with the help of this forum i did minor modifications to)on the forum and out of the clutches of apple(3-4 days ago traded iphone 4 32gb for LGOG)
Now first question: I've rooted my phone attempting to remove any and all bloatware, however I can't seem to remove it?
Second question: in regards to cases what's the differences between att and sprint LGOG's?
Third question: how do I sent picture messages? Seems like a dumb question but every time I try to do so the message says something like "picture too big ,compressing" now normally that's fine it compresses the picture I send and its good however when I get said message the text I had started to send to whomever is gone and I'm back at the message as if I never started it?
Fourth question: how do I send a multiple contact message?
Finally : since this was a multiple question post, I did search , did read, tried everything I could think of to avoid asking a repeated-a-million-times-question , sorry if I did and sorry if I put in wrong part of forum
Thank you sincerely
LGOG rookie

Nope, you have to pay for it in the app store.
Or you can search and take a look in the other section (like the development section). I could be wrong, I dunno.

install titanium backup ROOT , delete any apps you do not want, really I just deleted most of the at&t stuff or stuff that requires you to purchase other things. one app that is worth its money is root explorer, sounds like you are new to android, one helpful tip to you is when you do buy these things in the play store you will always have it as long as you remember your google account, get a new device bam, still have the apps you purchased.
Yes I'm extremely new to droid as a whole
Let alone rooting and other info
Been trying to avoid posting a millions questions that could be avoided with a couple searches, I'm coming from iphone .
Iphones are insanely simple compared to droid ,however with the right tweaks droid can prevail for sure.

I phones seem simple because they don't have any of the customizations that android does. So, I guess iPhone is simple and not in a good way.
Also, "droid" is more commonly used to refer to the phone model by Motorola. We generally use the term android when speaking of the OS in broader terms. But more commonly we use the specific term for the version of Android or ROM that we're speaking of at the moment, Jelly Bean, AOSP, stock, for example. You'll get the hang of it.

Download the free Freegee App from the play store.
Run the app. Backup EFS. Click unlock Bootloader.
Boot into Fast Boot, then CWM or TWRP (depending what recovery you chose when using Freegee)
Make a backup.
Reboot phone and get an app called Titanium Backup (paid version has more options)
Using Titanium Backup you can uninstall bloatware or freeze them if you have the paid version (this is easiest and safest I believe)
OR you can use Root Explorer or a similar root file manager to manually delete each apk
Be careful what you delete. There is a post here listing what apps can safely be removed without messing up your phone.
Read twice, click once. Good luck

I would also have to say to the new guys...dont get all wound up on installing a new rom, trust me I have upgraded lots of roms from backflip, atrix, htc inspire but all those needed it. I have to say the original rom that comes on these LG's is pretty good, unless it doesnt do what you need it to I wouldnt worry about a new rom. root it so you can delete some of the bloat.
100% agreed. Amazing Rom for stock. I did the same thing and I'm loving it
