iptables / netfilter / droidwall - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello
i want to use droidwall on my legend
it´s rooted after a downgrade to 2.1
What can i do?
1. I found an rootet 2.2 here. In another thread a read something about a connection between iptables and wifi tethering. So froyo support tethering, will droidwall work with froyo?
2. Custom Rom: I read somewheye cynagenmod supports iptables and so droidwall. Is it true?
3. Which kernel can i use with the legend which supports iptables? The htc kernel is the problem for using droidwall/iptables or?
Thanks

[Q][SOLVED] Rom with working PPTP VPN?

Greetings,
Can anybody point me to a rom with working pptp vpn setup? Camera working is a must.
I already tried stock (1.31 - 2.03), Almost Stock Legend 2.03 and currently trying out Mdj Droid L0.1
Big thanks to all!
Hours of flashing later a winning combination seams to be:
r2 - Modaco Custom ROM + tun module from here: hxxp://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/309602/problem-with-openvpn-in-r2-rom/
The native PPTP driver that comes with Android 2.2.2 works. No ROM mod or root needed. Verified on a debian pptpd.

Simple Mobile tethering on 2.1

i've seen all this info how to tether on t-Mobile on OS 2.1, but does anyone know how to on Simple Mobile? rather not use custom roms if i don't have to

[Q] PPTP not working on P500?

I've tested VPN on both internet APN and wi-fi with multiple servers (I tried both Windows 2008 R2 and Windows XP x64 server). It seems no connection can be made, encryption on or off doesn't matter.
I'm using Android 2.2.1 with mikos kernel.
Is this a known bug with the P500?
I'm willing to sell it just because i'm at the end of my nerves.
My Windows 7 laptop connects with encryption on or off without any issue.
No one bothered to answer. It seems like a bug in 2.2 version (or kernels based on 2.2). Froyo 2.2.1 fixed this problem.
Still, I'm looking for a kernel with touchscreen bug minimised but based on 2.2.1 kernel.
Is there any such?
no.
since u cant root 2.2.1 no way to flash the kernel..

You are saying the ROM i'm currently using (Prime v2) is not using 2.2.1 kernel? It's saying 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #2. Rooted already. I say it can be flashed if you have custom recovery already.
The whole point is having a custom made 2.2.1 kernel and that's it. I think Prime V2 uses stock 2.2.1, i just want to have the touchscreen bug fixed and VPN also.
Primev2 is not 2.2.1?
wat makes u think vpn issue is associated with kernel?

I've tested almost ROM for P500 but only Prime V2 can connect to my VPN. But it's still not very stable, sometimes I can't connect VPN
Frustrated....
Same problem here.
Using Optimus T with stock 2.2.2, also tried some 3-rd party ROMs ... None of them worked so far with PPTP VPN yet.
Can anyone tell me if there is a ROM with working PPTP VPN client?

[Q] ANT+ Support in Custom Roms?

I have an X10 mini and use the stock SE ROM with a Garmin Heart Rate band (ANT+ protocol)
In an ideal world, I'd like to upgrade to a 2.2 Froyo rom (or later) which supports:
1) Using the x10 mini as a WiFi Hotspot
2) ANT+
Does such a thing exist, or do I need to stick with the stock rom and Barnacle?
Thanks!
1. I believe it's possible with 2.2 rom
2. No, ANT+ is currently not supported.
Gigglebread has some ANT+ debugging files, but that's 2.3 ..... whatever
Touch the thanks button if I helped you

are u sure about that?
barnacle works fine on MiniCM1.0.2
OK - so Barnacle will likely work on any custom rom "as well as it does on the stock rom" (that is to say not without its problems, in my experience).
So do all 2.2+ roms for the X10 mini have the standard Android WiFi Tethering Hotspot functionality built in?
And we think that ANT+ doesn't work on any 2.2 ROM, but it might work on a 2.3 ROM (Gigglebread), which lists it as having "bugs" in?
Think I'm going to have to stick with the Stock eclair rom, unless anyone can shed some more light
In custom roms native tethering does not work since they are bulit on top of se kernel. You have to use Barnacle ad i can confirm it work great in MiniCM6
Don't know about ANT, since it's no so widely supported i bought a blueetooth heart rate monitor
Still no custom rom support ANT+? I can say the volume of users via My Tracks is increasing significantly so I'm sure there are other like me who enjoy using the mini pro as a bike computer/GPS etc.
2.3 based GingerDX at least allows me to install the ANT+ radio service and bike dash, but the bike dash crashes on start..
Im currently dualbooting back to the stock rom to leverage it though..
I tried GingerDX and mini-cm6, both dont work with ant+.
If you've rooted your stock ROM then the ANT+ will work, and you can install the Netfilter module AndyX developed in the X8 forum so native tethering works too.

Not true. I installed stock 2.1.1 rooted followed by minicm6 and ant+ did not work.
What is the reason that ant+ is not working with custom roms?
Is it the kernel coming from other devices??
If so, would a custom mod like gingerDX v015 using a custom kernel based on SEs kernel have working ant+?

I'd really like to know this too!
I heard that ANT+ support is coming to freexperia very soon.
ant+ is now working on miniCM7-2.1.3
Hi, I have a Polar Wearlink belt. I can't connect to my phone but I'm not sure if it should.
Anyone with a similar device?
Polar wearlink won't work unless its Bluetooth version. The Xperia uses Ant+ which is not compatible with Polar. You can buy a Garmin or other Ant+ HRM module and use it on the Polar strap though..

Wireless Tethering with Xperia Mini.

I am trying to activate Wireless Tethering on my "Rooted" Xperia mini
Model: E10i
Firmware:2.1-update 1
Baseband: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Kernel: 2.6.29
[email protected] #1
Build: 2.1.1.A.0.6
I tried Open Garden, Barnacle, Wirlesstether, and none of these apps worked.
What happens is that the wifi tethering starts somehow, and other devices such the Transformer (HC) or the PC are able to detect the wireless service, but they are stuck in "Obtaining IP".
Also, I noticed that in whole the apps I tested, the Upload stucked to "0", while the download was active.
The Wifitether app also notified that the Kernel version of my phone was not supporting tethering. But somehow some users affirm that they managed to make it work.
So my Question is basic and simple:
What should I do???
Note that:
- I already tested any possible settings in all the apps.
- I followed some guides but mostly couldn't understand a word since I am not familiar with development terms.
- I of course searched this forum for a solution, but there aren't any specific to this problem.
- In one thread a user confirms that he made it work and the problem was that he needed Iptables.
here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235541
He shared this link for a solution, which is all gebrish to me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184907
(Something about Kernel needing IPTable support, not really clear).
Any help would be appreciated.
You could try using a custom kernel like nAa kernel. And nAa MiniCM7. It has tethering built in. (Of course you need to have your bootloader unlocked first.)
tnx for the reply.
I just learned that ICS will come in march for the xperia mini.
I guess it will solve the problem.
Is this a joke?

Xperia x10 mini and xperia mini are different phones. X10 mini (E10i) will not recieve an official ICS-update. Hence, your best option is to unlock you bootloader and change to naa kernel and ROM.
