How is the video quality? I have tried a few different programs and so far I found tango to have the best quality of video. It's funny when you watch the commercials for video chating and the video is crystal clear.

Is the video fixed in this one? no more sideways video?

To be honest, the screen shot shows nobody with video chat was available, so I couldn't test it, But this is from a new official HTC build, so it should fix the sideways camera issues that sense ROMs would receive.

so you have no idea if this works? Appreciate the effort, but appears to not work - at least in my limited testing. Sure it shows the video chat icon, but I cannot initiate a video call. Could be the ROM i'm using. Anyone?

I didn't use it on 2.3.3, so i am not sure, but probably not. It's not modified for anything under 2.3.4. Try it, just backup your original talk app.

Ahh, thanks for letting me know. I'm not good at making flashables due to scripting. Use root explorer. Extract the files and copy them and and change permissions as in o.p.

At the top right, there's a button that says mount R/W (Read And Write) Click it.
Once you click it, it will say mount RO (Read Only.) Don't click it again, leave it as is. Then you can edit system files. If you need a screen shot, let me know.
Edit: I see you got it. Let me know hoe it goes. You don't have to, but I do just for extra precaution, change owner to root. Dame like changing permissions, but instead scroll until you see change owner.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the video running without WIFI to work on the Rogers 3VO 3D running on AT&T..? I logged into chat and I see I'm video ready but I can't send or receive calls unless I'm on WIFI.

NC 3d Custom Boot Animation [6/28 update]

Since tinkering with things is a hobby of mine coupled with an ongoing infatuation with Blender3d I decided I'd spend some time working on a few new boot animations.
Admittedly I only have a basic understanding of the boot animation format but I'm going to render some frames out and see what I can do. Neat stuff is neat.
Here's a few frames from my first test animation..

I've started with a new CM7 boot animation since I use CM7+DalOC+SDcard boot on my own Nook Color.
If anyone has any other ideas or a wishlist drop it in here and I'll see what I can come up with. We are limited by only our imagination.
looks good!
Good job and good luck.
Mmm looks like a green lantern android. Moar plz!
Looks like it's gonna be an awesome boot animation, I've always loved trying out new one, and it looks like this ones gonna be amazing! Awesome work so far, and good luck finishing it off.
I like! Nice start

Hey guys,
First bootanimation is ready to go. This is the full screen .png version. Runs fine on my nook. I tested a smaller res version on my nook and it didn't make much of a difference so I ended up just leaving it full screen.
Quality on the nook is much nicer of course...
part1
part2
Download bootanimation.zip :
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SPBBE750
Instructions for installation:
1) Download and install the free E S File explorer on your nook
2) In the settings menu enable all the root options
3) Connect your nook to your computer USB and transfer the bootanimation to a spot you know where to look from E S File explorer
4) On your Nook use E S File explorer to copy the bootanimation.zip from that drop folder to the /data/local directory. You can delete the other bootanimation.zip that is there if you are replacing something.
5) Done. Reboot. Rejoice.
There may be other ways to accomplish the same thing but this is the method I used for my SDcard install.
Hmm, my bootanimation.zip stays in the /system/media folder... Not sure if mines different for some reason, but I've never heard of putting it in the /data/local directory...
Must be different on an SD card install, I'm running off of eMMC.
Oh, and holy crap, that animation is huge! Can't wait to try it out, but my Nook is out of commission at the moment, got it taken by my parents
I'm going to render out a red and cyan version of this same animation since I already have the models, lighting and effects in place. After that I'll probably switch it up with something different.

Sounds great, always loved cyan myself. Wish I could try it out right now!
Edit: hmm, when I go to the download link it tells me the file is temporarily unavailable... Anyone else have it? Could you attach it or post another mirror of it?

My pleasure, it's fun making things like this because it keeps my skills sharp and serves a purpose.
The cyan version is incoming in a day or 2 I just got busy with some other stuff.
I am downloading the red one. My sister and I will love this! Thank you!
OK, now where do I copy this file?
I am running CM7 N107 from SD & don't find any of the folders mentioned. Do I need to be looking at the "Boot" partition? If so, that is only available to me if I put the SD card in my PC. Am I replacing a zip file, or installing this zip via booting into recovery? Please expand on the installation steps.
Thanks,
kev
installation
I didn't install this particular boot animation yet (but Dling ).
The way I accomplished this was to rename original bootanimation.zip to st else (old.bootanimation.zip).
Then copy new animation to the same folder as older one was. Reboot .
I found mine in root-system-media
/system/media
Hope this helps .
P.S. connect NC to PC via cable (or wifi), copy zip file to SD card. Disconnect, open file browser, copy or move zip file to the folder above to replace bootanimation.zip.
Oh one important thing - you need to have rooted NC and have root access - your file browser must have root privileges. I used ES explorer if I rememeber correctly.
Do not unzip or alter the .zip file.

Hi bug,
1) open E S File Explorer
2) set all the root options to enabled and press the home button upper left
it will show a little house when you are in the correct mode
3) scroll till you find the data folder and click on it
4) inside this first data folder will be a Local folder .. click on that to open (not the data folder within the data folder if you have one)
5) insert or copy the new bootanimation.zip over the old one
It's only a few clicks to get this done on a SDcard CM7 install. I'm not sure of the installation of custom boots on the other installs since I haven't used any of those yet.
How bout a cwm flashable zip? Would make the process of installing your boot animations a breeze. Ill try and prep one tomorrow mornning. Unless someone beats me to it. I hope someone does.

Thanks for your response. On my system, the bootanimation.zip is located in system/media.
Problem is when I try to rename the file or paste the new file in the folder I get " Sorry, operation failed."
I get a "failed to mount" when I select "mount File System" under settings.
At launch I saw a message that ES File Explorer had been granted SU Permissions. I am at a loss for what to do now.

[APP][MOD] HTC Sense 4.1 Mail.apk with CORPORATE FONT SETTINGS + No Exchange Security

For those of us who use our phones on corporate networks and use Outlook 2007+ for our mail needs you know that the default font that the Sense Mail.apk uses (Arial 12) hasn't been used for years now and it looks unprofessional and is a dead give away that you're replying from your phone .
This Mail.apk will send all of your e-mails in Calibri 11. It will look as if you sent it from your desktop (Outlook 2007+ default font family and size is Calibri 11) [signature and all]).
Directions:
1. Download apk from attachment
2. Go to Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Exchange -> Remove your account!
3. Navigate to /system/app (I use Root Explorer) and rename Mail.apk to Mail.apk.bak
4. Copy the downloaded CorpFontMail.apk to /system/app
5. Rename CorpFontMail.apk to Mail.apk
6. Change permissions of Mail.apk to rw-r--r-- (same as Mail.apk.bak)
7. Normal reboot
8. Once you're back up, open the Mail app and add your Exchange account. You now have the new font settings.

I did not add the No Exchange Security modification. I modified the apk below to incorporate the font settings:
Code:
Sense 4.1 Mail.apk No Exchange Security Sauce: http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?14276-MOD-2012-08-31-Mail-apk-w-Exchange-Security-Disabled-*New-Sense-4-1-Version*
none
Good job on this, and I can honestly say I never thought about doing this.
Thanks. I got sick of it months ago being an avid Exchange account user. I like the integration Mail.apk has with Sense 4.1 so I had to change the font. Not only is it not the standard anymore (at least it wasn't Times New Roman 12 like old Sense Mail.apks) but it was ugly and unprofessional. Business users will appreciate this.

I tried running this use ES Strong File Explorer and I keep getting Mail has stopped Force Closes. I am rooted so no problem there, but it appears that something must be funky with my otherwise stock sense setup.

I did follow the directions exactly (just didn't use Root Explorer to change the settings). I restarted 2x and when I restored the backup, I had to clear the data/cache for the mail.app for me to get it back to what I had previously.
I could probably try Root Explorer and see if that does anything different. I was just hoping I could get it working so I wouldn't have to enter a PIN every time

It looks like it is working! The only additional question I have is that the SuperSU app keeps asking for access for the following item:
mksh ip add route 224.0.0.0/4 dev wlan0
It appears that this is happening when turning the WiFi on/off and there may have been some sort of hidden setting (for multicasting) that had that happen from HTC. I see within the forums that others are mentioning the same thing as of today, so it looks like it is ok and is a SuperSU issue.
Is that ok or what is that for? I can have SuperSU ignore those warnings if that is normal.

That has nothing to do with the Mail.apk and instead the SuperSU update. Wait for an update from the dev and it will relieve the warning.

I'm running Viper4G 3.01, fresh clean install
The base apk is named Mail+Prime.apk in the /system/app folder. I tried renaming it to a .bak, and installing the modded apk both named "Mail.apk" and then as "Mail+Prime.apk" and fixed permissions. there are no .odex's. I got Mail has stopped Force Closes both times and ended up re-flashing the ROM to clear it up.
Any thoughts?
Great work!!! I've been searching for a mod like this for a while. this was one of the first mods I always loaded back when I had my Sprint Pre phone. I do a lot of business through exchange and cant stand the default font and size. I would love to make this mod myself but could not find enough info to make the changes. Is it possible you can create on of these mods for the Sense 5 mail.apk or a how to guide?

[SCRIPT][TASKER]LTE Location Fix for Google Now and etc

I made a script which should help the LAC not showing up for people on LTE
This works when the Cell tower ID change checked by Tasker, each time the cell tower ID change, it will cache the new location from GPS to google location service. Should fix inaccurate location shown for Google Now every now and then.
The backup also includes a profile to enable sweep2wake when it is connected to my car bluetooth(disable it on disconnect), you can remove that if you want, but I find it useful.

Should be able to extract the folder, put it in root of the "sdcard" and in tasker to Restore the settings from it. Haven't been able to fully test the script as I just got home and thought of the idea, let me know how it turns out for you!
How it works is:
1. Store current Cell ID to a variable
2. Grab GPS location
3. On Cell ID not matching variable value stored last time, repeat 1 and 2
This approach is better than my first idea where it just cache location every 15 minutes, wastes battery a lot, but this approach should be more logically correct relative to how normal cell tower location is reported to android, but if you move about a lot, this might eat lots of battery too, not sure if it is a big battery hit yet.
Thank you!

Forgot to mention, the profile actually logs each time it caches a new location when cell tower ID changes. it is saved to a txt file for debugging purposes. When I fully finish testing, I will remove that in the script, for now, you can refer to that too to know each time it finds a new cell tower to grab new location from GPS.

Its a script. Download smanger from Google play. Enable root and browse to the file and execute the script as su and it should work. You may have to extract the script first from the zip.

Well the whole file is only 6 kg so I doubt that there's an apk in it. I looked into it. In the log folder theres a text file. I believe if you run that text file as su it should work, if it fails you could try flashing it like a mod in your recovery..

Never heard of flashing a XML file on its own. I can tell that by itself it won't work. If you couldnt run any of the files through smanger, then that's a problem the op should address. Perhaps make a flashable zip.

NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP GUYS! You unzip the zip AS-IS to the root of your sdcard and open Tasker app and the restore the data from it.

I thought of it yes, but it doesnt work as intended. When disabling LTE, Android breaks the cell connection for a few moments, that will drop and call in progress or internet connection downloads etc.
This is the most elegant solution i have come up with only
This is quite a nice solution. It's not a solve all but definitely a move in the right direction. Can you explain what the processes in this script? I have tested this on a few apps and my GPS is now accurate on LTE. GMaps glitches but it does provide me with a GPS lock where there's usability.
Does anyone have the individual profiles. The op only has a backup of his tasker.

Good lookin out bro!
wish it had a sound too like the default droid dna boot animation
I have tried and tried and tried over and over again with installing this animation as well as others and I haven't had a single bit of luck. I am rooted and using Nos m7 ROM with Sense 5.0. I tried an easier way of doing it with an app on the market and was able to get a couple animations to work that way BUT they were to small and I deleted them and got rid of the app. I even went in with es file explorer and removed them. I have read and watched everything I can on how to do this and when I put the file where I'm suppose to and reboot I don't get the animation that I should. Some of the animations I flash fail and won't work at all. I can give anyone who helps me out a step by step account of exactly what I have done and do in order to get a new boot animation. I'm just at a loss because this should have worked by now.
Work Great on the Nos Rom 3.0.7 GSM
Thanks you
How did you get it to work? That's the Rom I'm running!

It must be the file name because you are on gsm...try renaming it to bootanimation.zip and put in system/customize/resource

I renamed it that already. I just can't put it in that directory. I don't know why but I can't get it in that directory. I've put it everywhere else that should have worked and I got nothing. Oh just remembered something. I get permission denied. Unless I need to rename it and then place it in that spot. I'll try that and go from there.

that's because system isn't mounted as RW. Are you using ES file explorer?
- click on top left button (looks like a globe with a phone in front of it)
-scroll down to where it says Root Explorer. Make sure that is on.
- click on Root Explorer (not the toggle on the right, click to the left of it, on the word "Root".
- go to Mount RW
- make sure "/system" is checked as RW

OOOOO pretty, thanks bro.
I have done everything exactly as instructed and have read everything on the subject that I can find. I still can't get it work unless I use this app I found called boot animations. I have renamed the file I want to use and I have gone in and changed the directory to being RW. Nothing works. It keeps going back to either the stock one with the ROM I'm using, or one of the ones I had downloaded but deleted(I'm guessing I didn't find all of it so that's why it keeps going back to it). I'm stumped and frustrated at this point. I'm currently using the CM10 animation because I found that one on the app and it works full screen like it should. For now I'm throwing in the towel.

That was the very last thing I did before trying it again. I still can't get it work. Like I said...the towel has been thrown in.
Wait...I just restarted my phone and....for no real reason at all other than I got rid of some extra boot animations and then moved the ones I need into a file that was already named by the system as boot animations. It suddenly worked when my phone rebooted. I'm in total surprise and shock right now. Perhaps it was defaulting to the one I had downloaded because I had to many named bootanimation.zip and as it searched the system it just picked the first one it came to? My thing is why wouldn't it do that in the first place when I got rid of everything but the stock one that came with the ROM I'm running? Oh well....I must say the boot animation is pretty cool in motion right in front of me. Now I'm thinking I'll run that one for a bit and then see what else I can find.

2 different things, just making sure.

If you are using ES file explorer, long press on the file and go to properties. You will see permissions. Click on change and set them to -rw -r -r
