[Q] Need proper base rom to install a custom rom? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys just a quick question, I'm new to xdadev so sorry if I'm doing anything wrong.
I'm running a custom rom based on XXKH3 and want to switch to villainrom instead.
villainrom is based on KG6 so do I have to flash KG6 base then run villainroms rom zip? or can i just run his rom (after doing proper wipes) straight from the base rom + custom rom I'm running now (custom is ninmphetamine's if it matterS)

not necessary .. you can directly flash villain rom (after full wipe everything) because the rom include the framework and modem too.
(make sure you downloade wipe version of the rom because some of the developer also include wipe & no wipe version)

Newbie - need help with Darky and Litening ROM

Hi all,
Sorry if this is kind of double post ( I have been advised to post it in this section)
Firstly I am a complete newbie so any step by step guide , pointer to the correct link or direction is so much appreciated.
My situation is:
I have SGS2 with:
Model Number: GT-I9100
Android Version : 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9100xxKG1
Kernel 2.6..35.7-I9100ZSKG2-CL361136
Build number : GingerBread ZSKG2
1. I want to try either Litening Rom 6.1 or Darky ROM.
* Is this the correct Link to follow?
Darky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1159920
Litening : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1095274
** Do I need to root the phone before installing the Litening ROM? or can I go ahead with my current spec and flash it with Litening ROM via ODIN?
2. I want to preserve my Current state of my Device before flashing with Darky or Litening.
* Is it possible to back up everything so I can return it to the way it is for Warranty purposes?
* or is it not possible to put back when we installed Darky or Litening?
3. Which one do you recommend Darky or Litening? - which one is less bug at this stage?
I am hoping that by flashing with the custom rom, it will make the device
- faster more efficient
- still able to get good GPS signal (or better)
- Good Wifi reception (or better)
- Good battery life (or better than now)
Please let me know if this is a false hope?
Thanks guys - sorry for the very basic questions.
Regards,
I am wondering if anyone else has experience the same process and would like to share their tips .
Thanks again guys

First its your own choose for a ROM.
But if you will Litening rom you must flash it with Odin.
For Darky ROM: I dont know.
For a better battery life check this thread.
Speedmod is the best battery kernel.
Your device is not very faster but a little bit.
I dont know about wifi and gps.
P.S I dont have a rooted SGS2
I found this link here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
is this the one I need to follow?
Do I need to install speedmod or CWM separately if I want to install Litening ROM?
can I directly flash directly from :
Model Number: GT-I9100
Android Version : 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9100xxKG1
Kernel 2.6..35.7-I9100ZSKG2-CL361136
Build number : GingerBread ZSKG2
to Litening ROM 6.1??
Thanks again
Yes, you can.
Litening rom will be a bit faster than Darky rom because litening will have already a overclocked frequency to 1.6Ghz with it.
Every custom rom build using stock like Darky & Litening & Villian will provide more stable system than Cyanogen, MIUI & AOSP roms. That's what I've experienced.
Problems that you may faced after flashing custom are it may has bootloop, stuck on splash screen. If you got a bootloop, try flash it again, sometimes it needs to flash twice. If splash screen never pass then do a full wipe in CMW, wipe user data, partition, wipe delvik.

[Q] Migration to UltraToxic Rom v8.0.1

Hey Guys,
I'm a newbie and i hope you can help me with that.
I want to move from:
Litening Rom 6.1 XXKH3 (2.3.4)
to:
UltraToxic Rom 8.0.1 XWKK5 (2.3.6)
Now my question is,
how can i make this (please very exactly instructions)
- Can i follow the installation instructions OR:
- Should i go to Stock ROM and then to UltraToxic, when yes how?
- Should i directly go to UltraToxic, when yes how?
- What should i backup?(Apps configs, Media, efs-folder,IMEI)
- Does this ROM has CWM?
You can migrate from Lite'ning to Ultratoxic by simply flashing the rom via Odin. I assume you know how to flash. If you don't, you can check the UltraToxic ROM thread.
Which means you can follow the instructions.
You don't have to flash stock rom but it's recommended. I never flashed stock rom before flashing ultratoxic and didn't experience any problems.
You don't have to backup anything, the rom doesn't require full wipe. But do a full nandroid (CWM) backup before you flash anything.
Yes, the ROM has CWM, BetterBatteryStats and Titanium Backup as system app.

[Q] [SGS2] Kernel for UltraToxic ROM and some Questions

Hallo,
I just got my SGS2 and wanted to flash a new Firmware, but then I saw that you need a Kernel with Root and some other things.
Well which Kernel is compatible with UltraToxic 8.0(.1)?
And how can I save my last Kernel+Firmware+Apps, so the whole System with original Bootloader, Kernel and so on.
Thanks for Help
