OK well i had an Iphone 2g that wasn't unlocked, so i put my sim card with The current 4g hspa+ 2g data plan in it. I activated the Iphone thru Itunes which then switched my plan to and old At&t plan called, Personal Smartphone Data Unlimited, put your sim card back in the Atrix 4g call them and tell them that your Data isn't working on your phone. They will explain that your phone is a 4g and has its own personal plan yada yada yada, then also explains well sir/mam since you have the unlimited data you get to keep it and we make it 4g compatible to your phone. NO THIS IS NOT ILLEGAL AT ALL, ITS TRUE, IF YOUR AND EXISTING USER OF THE OLD UNLIMITED DATA AND THEY TOOK IT, YOU COULD HAVE KEPT IT AND THEY SWITCH IT TO BE COMPATIBLE, IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME I WILL UPLOAD PICS OF MY NEW 4G UNLIMITED

To everyone that was being A-holes about the subject im new to At&t i have T-mobile and Sprint. Also thanks to CaelanT for posting the link that would have been a lot more helpful then to just out right call me a moron. If this is suppose to be a good community forum your suppose to help, not try to embarrass. Obviously you can read someones Profile and see what they've included themselves in, and i haven't done much of anything so I'm still kinda new to this, I'm an adult before anything, and B4 i say anything that would make me look like a child im going to just say I APOLOGIZE for being late, and fault me for not knowing that's fine but i have a busy Windows 7 modding life i just started getting really interested in Phones so thanks everyone and i will only post important things and in the correct section lol

For the 11 billionth time, there is no 5GB softcap on smartphone unlimited plans.
That only applies to USB dongle DataConnect plans, not smartphone unlimited plans.
I wish people would learn how to read a contract.

I am announcing my good bye and resignation from this forum, we have decided to switch to AT&T because of how much Verizon has screwed us over, and how much we will save. I will be switching to an iPhone and hope all the devs continue their great work on ROMS and themes for the Eris. I had a great time, and who knows maybe I'll be back one day.

They don't have a lot of plans. The one that I have only gives me 50 mb of data a month. Since I am around WIFI at home and work, thats really plenty for me even with Android. I get 1200 text messages and 1200 voice minutes. It only cost $30 a month.
They also have an unlimited talk and text plan with 20 mb of data for $45. My wife uses that one because she likes to talk and doesn't care about the data.
In order for it to work for Android you have to be around WIFI and be pretty self reliant. Its a prepaid service. Anyone who wants more info can PM me. I am a fan, but I don't want to come off as advertising.

Funny I switched to Verizon for the exact same reasons, plus the better phones and cheaper plans (at the time at least). I actually wanted to go T-Mobile but their service where I am is garbage.
Good luck, it's a great switch if you want an inferior network and inferior device.
Note that the above is my opinion and I would image there's much more to the story than just your side.
Either way, I wish you the best and I hope you're happy with ATT.

I switched to sprint with the hopes of a fast unlimited data network I would be able to tether too, it has not been the case. It has been pretty lackluster, and now I have gotten the EVO 3D and it seems even worse!!!! I think I am going to return it and go to verizon at this point. It really sucks, because I HATE VZW. There phones BLOW! and they are ridiculously expensive, but what option do I have. Between Sprint's busted ass 3g network and TMO's lack of service out here, there isn't much for me to do....LAME!

And now I'm on sprint with 200kbps its gay but its cheap.. and its unlimited... No throttling... No tiered data package.. all i need is 4G in my town and ill be happy

This is where I am torn... I was optimistic about Sprint getting better...like if they set up more towers or something..but from what I have been hearing(on this forum)...Sprint has a very outdated 3G network that is only getting worse..sO I was thinking maybe go with verizon if Sprint is only going to get worse...? I was hoping to get some input and luckily I got some from you, thank you. Maybe mroe people have something to say on the subject..

I also switched from tmobile. Sprints 3g in my area sucks too but thankfully theres 4g here. If I were you I would just switch to vzw if thats the only good option for you.

Yea fort rucker really doesn't have **** for internet...unless like dude said you are a e5 and have housing then maybe you can get in on it. But yea I dunno I been resetting my activation with my msl because some people said that works but it didn't do anything but I just did it again and it seems to he working better... So now I am even more torn... Does anyone know for sure what the plans of sprints remodeling is?

Are you even part of a fighting force? I have a lot of military buddies, and customers for that matter, and I typically find it that those who do the most, talk about it the least. The many I know certainly wouldn't engage someone in a forum taking credit for keeping the US safe while sitting near Fort Rucker. You certainly receive no respect from me.

Certainly not asking for respect. To be honest, your opinion is one that I would have had prior to entering the service, but to continue with my honesty...I haven't been a part of the fighting force yet..but I know that I will be at some point(likely multiple) in my 6 year military career. I guess some people just don't understand the amount of freedom soldiers sacrifice to train, so that when they ARE called on they CAN fight for this great nation. I am not trying to make this a political forum...I found his assumption of me being someone who is too lazy to get an ISP illconceived....I am simply asking for peoples opinions because I know that I have a very static thought process when it comes to cellphone companies. I also find it irrelevant for people who work at Sprint to chime in and get offended for whatever reason. I will edit my post, so that it does not offend your demographic.

Yes, you will get to keep you're unlimited data. Atleast it was in Q&A.
Before everyone flips out on me... give me a second. So I told my dad he was going to lose his unlimited data if he didn't upgrade his phone by today. Which of course he ends up waiting until today to do. Come to find out that he had to upgrade before today in order to keep his unlimited data. We are on a family share plan and only me and my dad have unlimited data, but my brother and sister, who are also on it, have the 2GB data cap.
So I told him to try to transfer his upgrade to one of them and get the subsidized price and just upgrade it on his line. So he tries to pre-order the SGSIII on my brother's line and this pops up.
"The existing plan Nationwide Account Level Talk & Text Family Share 2000, is not compatible with the new device." So it either chooses new individual plan or new share voice and data plan.
What's confusing though is that under smartphone data packages, it doesn't have the new family data plan pricing. It still has 2 GB for $30, 5GB for $50, and 10GB for $80 and under plan shares summary on the left side where the totals are, it does say "Nationwide Account Level Talk & Text Family Share 2000". So I'm confused as F*CK right now and I want my dad to keep his unlimited for at least another 2 years, but I also don't want to lose mine and get screwed over with this new family data share plan. Not to mention that fact that I'm not sure whether they are actually forcing us into this new data share plan or not.
Thoughts? Can anyone who has a family plan with an upgrade vouch?
There is no more grandfathering it on on subsidized phones. You have to purchase the phone out right to keep unlimited now. No upgrading from 3G to 4G and keeping unlimited either I believe.
Put him on an individual account and then merge the two later on. The account change probably wouldnt happen til you activated the phone on your brothers account any ways...They effed up my rezound upgrade/account and that happened. Easy fix :3
Edit: that may not work due to their crap share accounts...

The problem is I'm not sure whether the share accounts are even in the system yet. It's telling me I have to switch to the data share plan, but doesn't give me the data plan pricing that verizon states.

Also, I would like to add that if the family data share plans aren't forced there should be no reason why an unlimited data line couldn't transfer their upgrade to a 2 GB plan. Have that person upgrade and upgrade the line on the unlimited person's line. Herego unlimited data being kept with an unsubsidized Price.

Yes I have searched the GSIII but still same specs almost unless gsm version and 4.8 inches is to big for me it's like the g-note and as well touchwiz I dont like.
But I do like the design and thats about it and I dont know about camera quality vs Rezound.

Battery life man. The S4 processor is a beast. Many reviewers said the thing is damn hard to.kill in a day under normal use.

I don't even really want the thing, I absolutely LOVE my rezounds but I figured I might as well grab the last subsidized phone available.
Op simple fix. If it isn't broken don't fix it! People really need to stop buying new phones. If you have unlimited, on any plan/network/phone please don't upgrade.
And I also agree with the screen being way to big and hassle.
Not to be off point here... But my HTCG2 ....grandfather'd from G1...to G2(HSPDA+)....2yrs still running...Running (ROOTED) ROM PORTED ISC4.4 my 4g speed is fast (check my post's for non believers) for proof of batt stats but I get close too 2days on normal usage...point is They didn't do an upgrade to the G2(*GOOGLE DEV PHONE) yet... and ur dad wants an S3? ....third one already and they keep making them to get ppl to *Want* to upgrade to get the better contracts out the way. Advice would be if you like the phone you have and are satisfied don't take any chance in 2012....(sry long)

Well everyone's completely missing the point of my post. I'm trying to figure out if Verizon is indeed trying to force us into these new data share plans if you're on a family plan.
so i just flash a note 2 to verizon prepaid its amazing for 50 dollars UNLIMITED you cant get a better deal than that..
amazing speed i was shock that hd youtube videos dont buffer when playing
i did speed test 1,9 to 2.5 mbs enough for fast loading webpages and watching video i also was able to do skype and ovoo
There shouldn't be much needed in the way of flashing. Root the phone, add in APN data for the prepaid carrier you're using, put in your SIM, and then profit. The phone already works on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US if you have a SIM, you just need to be able to add APN info, which you can't by default.

There are 60 and 70 dollar prepaid plans for smartphones though.
The $60 prepaid plan is unlimited talk & text and 1GB of data and the $70 plan is the same thing but you get 2GB instead

what method dont you people understand its called flashing the system wont know that you are using a smartphone but a basic phone
i can work with mostly any new smart android phone sprint or verizon

4G devices require a sim, something that verizon prepaid does not do so this makes me scratch my head and cry foul...

What part of Verizon sells mostly 4G smartphones now that require sims (and prepaid doesnt use sims), do you not understand?
What part of, this was deemed illegal as of january 26th do you not understand?
What part of, XDA does not allow talking about illegal activities and this thread has been reported, do you not understand?

well i guess you dont understand that the simcard its only for 4g lte doesnt mean that you cant get internet on 3g
and for the other 2 i do understand what about January 26 i could care less i already vote to veto that
i mean if you cant understand that i do this for a living and making people save money than yea that all you and thanx for the reporting
i was just suggesting people go to prepaid great service and no contract 50 dollar a month
