[Q] BLN, almost working, am I missing something. (MOD PLEASE DELETE) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so, I'm trying not to be a noob here, because usually I can figure out this stuff without having to ask dumb questions but here goes..
I am using Litening 6-1 and Ninphetamine 2.1.3. I tried using the BLN app and Blinky, and my problem is this:
BLN gives me a notification, but the lights don't "blink", they just stay on until I wake my screen. I tried replacing the lights lib again from one of the other guides and it made no difference. I'm lost. So, am I missing something stupid or is something wrong?
(MOD PLEASE DELETE THIS THREAD I WILL POST IN THE BLN ONE THANKS)

Isn't BLN Control Pro needed for that?
Also there is an app called Light Flow Lite in Market which supports Notification for Stock SMS app.
Regards.

Well I did hear that Pro has the "blinking" option, but I read that the app "Blinky" is supposed to work and does have blinking.
Can you/someone confirm that with BLN Free the solid (lights always on) lights is normal? If I have to buy pro I will, I just didn't know if I needed it cause I don't care about the missed call/stock SMS thing. Nobody ever calls me and I use Go SMS.

Well a Steady light is no way could be considered as normal. Anyway, I think you better ask here,

[Q] Hi,is it possibile to control the light of touch button

Hello, everyone, is it possibile to control the light of the four touch button on vibrant? It's greate if we can control the on and off of the lights.
I saw tat leds hack app works on many android phones, but it does not work on vibrat. After take a look, I found "leds hack" modify the settings of leds/lcds to control the lights of touch button. But for vibrant, I don't know how to deal with.
The second question is that
Which branch of android is the one samsung using in their open sourced vibrant 2.2 rom? there is so many release of android 2.2 from google, and in the source code, ansung gave no information about their android branch.
is it just android 2.2 release1?
You need BLN. Some kernals support BLN (backlight notification) and they are the newest ones in the developement section.
And for the second question. 2.2 is froyo.

Thanks. I know froyo is 2.2, but in order to compile the samsung's sources, you must download other parts of code from android. For 2.2,froyo, there sare several releases, such as 2.2r1,2.2r1.2 and so on,these are 2.2,but different release, so I don't know which release they are extractly using.
BTW:now, which kernel support BLN? so I can flash room and write an apk to try to control the backlight of touch button(this means the button on the bottom of vibrant, not screen)
krylon360 is probably the one you want to ask that. He is the main Samsung leak specialist. Although there are a few others, I just think he was the original man to see. Maybe send him a pm.
There is an app already called BLN control in the market.
These support BLN and are probably the best. Just visit these threads and they tell you all about them.

BLN is not working, after take a look at his code, I found that bln only supports "turn lights on", no any supports about "turn lights off"
Depending on what you want the LEDs to do, BLN might not help you as it simply uses the LED touch keys to notify you of calls/messages and such. What exactly do you want to change?

I want to turn the leds off at night(it's too dazzling at night)
download noLED from market and disable soft buttons . noLED is a cool app that dispalys tinny red or green or yellow box depending what u r reciving ect calls .mms .email , once u put your phone to sleep istead of soft buttons lighting up u will have a tiny easy to spot box on your screen bouncing arrround letting you know u got something going on .
as for shuting soft light at all i have no idea and would love to know my self.
im 90% sure soft light are controlled by kernel maybe talk to one of the devs to cook a kernel that shuts off back light on soft keys
Yes, after take a look at the code, I found this need to modify the kernel. So the best way is some kernel developers do this as their kernels have lots of new features. If we modified the kernel source from sansung and build it ourselves, we will lose these features.

[Q] New Samsung owner. S2 Notification help

Hi guys,
Got my S2 yesterday after having had HTC for a few years and sony.
I know on the samsungs that there is no LED status light for missed call, text etc but I also know you can get an app to do it.
I have been trying no led but find that its not working very well and very unreliable.
Can anyone offer any alternative suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Have you heard of BLN? I don't think there's support for it on the SII yet. Basically it turns the capacitive touch keys into backlight LEDS. It was a useful feature on my Galaxy S I9000; I came from HTC as well and missed the LED. This works just as good. You need a custom kernel that supports BLN though and as I've said I havent seen any support as yet...
But give it time and I'm sure there will be
I had come accross that one. Hopefully a kernel will come that supports it Thanks for you help
How about this free app from Android Market?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.led.notify
Thats what im using, but not finding it very good as it keeps changing settings etc
No led works great for me
Me also want a custom kernel who had bln and undervolt included! ... ;-)
No led does work, but I dont find it reliable as it constantly displays the wrong image or even nothing at all
How do I stop it turning the screen off if its already on?
For example, im using handcent. If im reading or writing a txt and another comes through, it switches the screen off to show the dot. can this be changed?

[Q] Notification led for sgs2

As we all know, the sgs2 doesn't have notification leds. However, we do have leds under the menu and back buttons. I was wondering if anyone knows of any app that takes advantage of this. I want to use the menu and back button led as a notification led. Periodically flashing would be extremely helpful. I know there is NoLed on the market but that isn't the most elegant solution. Perhaps even using camera flash on minimum minimum brightness could be doable.
You need BLN for that. (Back Light Notification)
1- You have to flash BLN compatible kernel for that. For example- Ninphetamine.
2- You need to have liblights.zip installed. You can find it from Jame Bond thread.
3- You need to install BLN Control Pro for that, free version wont work for Missed calls and stock SMS/MMS app.
4- If you want notification for stock SMS/MMS app then you have to install 'Light Flow Lite' from market.
I was recently using it with that kernel, but I don't like that kernel at all.
Besides flashing too many things for just a simple light notification is very kiddish. Got rid of BLN and back to CF. No intention of getting it unless it start supports all kernels.
Regards.
Im running the villainROM 2.4.2 with ninphetamine kernal and XXKG6 installed.downloading the BLN app from the market you get that.

Has anyone noticed the red light that appears at the top of the phone next to the front camera and sensor? I've only really noticed it once the phone has been fully charged.
Perhaps this could be used to indicate a notification, assuming there isn't an app that already uses this light?
Lol, thats the Proximity sensor taking effect dude.
Sent from GT-I9100
Well whatever it is, could it not be used as a notification indicator if it hasn't already been?
Sent from my GT-I9100
No sir, it can only be used in a call when you put your phone near your face/ear it helps to turn off the screen.
Regards.
Wait, so that really is an led light?! I've never seen it go off, it would be sweet to have a red notification led, just like my old Blackberry... BLN works okay for now, though is is NOWHERE as bright as the led on the blackberries.
I started using NoLED, coming from a Desire I was a bit disappointed. I like NoLED but I'm concerned about the impact it has on battery even though I have mine set to 1% brightness and I rather have the standard icons on screen rather than the custom icons to be honest.

Wooaaa.....
why such hassle?
i thought android suppose to be the smarted OS. :-(
back when i was using symbian, light signal plus, a simple app can make softhey LED lit up.
i was hoping theres a widget or app in android that can do the same thing.
rooting or flashing for such small function seems overkill. :-(

Android is the smartest OS but it isn't the simplest one. And as an user, not a dev, I don't like that too.
I also remember about Light Signal Plus when I had 5800XM.

[Q] LED lights in CM nightly build #13

I was wondering how these worked, right now I have it enabled. Whenever I miss a call the bottom buttons on the bottom light up (menu, home, back...) and they do not go away until I clear the missed call notification. I was wondering if this is the way it is supposed to work? all there is to it? are there any settings where I can make them blink? I was thinking it would be more like the app noLED.
I'm sorry if this is a N00b question with an obvious answer, I have searched but can't find the answer.
thanks for any/all replies!
That's referred to as BLN (BackLight Notification). Its supposed to light up for missed calls, texts, emails, or any other notification. Its suppoed to state lit up til you clear it. What you are describing is expected behavior. There is an app in the market called BLN something, to manage it, built for the Captivate. There is also an app called blinky that worked on the captivate to make them blink.
In theory it should work better than NoLED, it should take less battery and processor. It hasn't been implemented in the stock based ROMs (for the S II) because it causes the phone to not enter deep sleep mode (as does noLED). It must be new to CM7. Hopefully if it doesn't cause a wake lock in CM7 it can be ported back to stock based ROMs. This is the last feature I was looking for in the custom ROMs for this phone.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
Yes what he said above except Blinky and BLN APP will not work for cm7 on the SGS2. Cm7 has its own setting to control it. You can disable them if you don't want to use led notifications from with the settings or CyanogenMOD settings.
Yes it creates a wakelock until you clear the message, missed call, etc. Then the wakelock goes away. Also there is a timeout for the led notification that can be controlled also.

[Q] Notification lght - Is it possible?

I'm just wondering whether it possible to somehow get the power button to pulse or another light on the front of the phone to pulse when you miss a call or text? Doesn't seem to be an app which exists (yet).
Is something I miss from my Nexus One!
Cheers.
U need to flash custom kernel.Ketut's cfroot kernel and my kernel support it. Its called bln

Flash CF-Root kernel(latest is BlackHawk) or Z-Image kernel from the development section.. Then download BLN Control Free app from the market to get the lights flashing... You can also buy the BLN Control Pro app if u want..

Button-light actually
Awesome, thanks guys. I've done this and after some fiddling I've got it semi working... I'm however have trouble with the notification in regard to text messages. Any ideas why it's not working for text messages? I've tried both using the stock app and GO SMS Pro.
Missed phone calls are fine and it works perfect. I'm running stock 2.6.6.
EDIT: Solved it... someone in another thread suggested checking the screen on setting. I turned it off and it worked.
