[HELP] Quickoffice update resulted in freeze - TouchPad General

After I updated Quickoffice today to the editable version, it will hang on the splash screen forever. The rest of the tablet still works just fine. The only thing that hangs is the Quickoffice software. I've tried restarting the device twice, and the problem persists.
It's possible to uninstall it, but there's no App store to reinstall. So I've not tried it.
Quickoffice was part of the HP webos, so does anyone know what happens when you uninstall Quickoffice, FB, Kindle apps? Does the install file appear on the launcher, or does it disappear completely? The install file is not available on HP apps store or at quickoffice.com.

Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same issue. Not sure if QO even updated, as I never went to Software Manager and did it manually.
Do you know what version QO you're using now? I have 2.1.1905...
Anyway, I wrote a ticket on this to QO support, hopefully they'll have a response tomorrow and I'll let you know, if I remember to

Open the apps launcher, Click and hold the application until the tiles change. Click the X to uninstall.

I didn't try to uninstall it, since I wasn't sure if the original app will still be there afterwards to reinstall.
I used webOS doctor thing, and restore it. Then reinstall the update. Works fine now.

This is what I did as well.
I tried uninstalling it first just to see if I could restore it. Quickoffice did not appear in Software Manager or the HP App catalog after I uninstalled, so I ended up using WebOS doctor...
QO support hasn't written back yet... I'm going to assume they wouldn't have a solution just yet anyway, and I really needed QO for my TP to be useful. Well, problem solved, fortunately I hadn't really installed much on the device just yet!
WebOS made the reinstall very easy by reinstalling all of my non-Preware apps automatically, too! Very nice touch...

[CM7][FIX]Market Showing "My Apps"

Hi everyone,
**Edit: 2/24 One of our great members here have found a temporary fix for the "My Apps" issue. I can confirm that it works. Rebooted three times and "My Apps" still shows. And also can confirm that it is not auto-updating on me. I'm running CM7 v3 dual boot with patched framework.**
**Edit: 2/24 Jumped the gun. It survives reboot but I just got an auto update on this. Now "My Apps" isn't showing anything again. Going back to my other vending.apk for the time being. This apk is also FC'ing on some people. Try out the patched framework from my other thread and see if that helps. If not, just use my other vending.apk for the time being until a fix is resolved.**
Credit goes "scuccia" for the patched Vending.apk:
"You may be able to prevent Vending.apk from updating if you resign the apk with test keys then push it back to /system/app."
Thanks again.
After install go into Settings-->Applications-->Manage Applications-->All-->Market-->Uninstall Updates.
APK attached. Try it out and see if it works for you as well. If you plan on pushing it to /system/app make sure to rename the file to Vending.apk
I just installed it as I would any other app and it works for me.
Thanks,
Racks
Trying it now will report back
Doesn't seem to work for me on V3
Not working for me on v5.
I thought the Vending Apk was part of the Gapps framework the the market runs on?
I also do not even see a /mnt/cache/cm7 folder using root explorer.

Could it be because I'm on a dual boot setup? Market says it's version 2.3.2.
This sucks, a fluke on my part? I wish I could take a screenshot but none of the screenshot apps seems to be working on CM7, only producing black screens.
umm...wow...kinda worked for me...on v5
i got a force close initially, rebooted...and all my apps are there...
Just to be safe, I installed a new app and everything seemed fine
uninstalled that app, still fine....
rebooted for a second time...and it's broken again
hope that info help!
thats the first time i have seen anything in my apps so it's a step in the right direction.
and now i can't recreate...
reinstalled the apk...no FC...rebooted...no apps...

Thanks for trying it out. This is also the first time "My Apps" has shown anything for me. Guess I got overly excited for myself and everyone. I've done the same steps you have and it still shows everything in "My Apps".
-Just a side note, I've also applied the patched framework.jar from my other thread to CM7. Maybe that has something to do with it as well.
-I've also attached a snapshot of my screen showing my apps in the OP.

yeah it seems like the market is taking an auto-update that's preventing your apps from showing up....
I just rebooted again after uninstalling the updates for a second time and it seems like my apps are available, have been for about 5 minutes
no force close yet like the first time.
and I rebooted again while my apps were still there....opened the market...no more my apps
Uninstall Updates is an option again in Applications.

At least it's working somewhat, and ugly workaround at the moment. Hopefully this helps out the devs in someway as we're troubleshooting it.
this isn't Google actively trying to prevent the market from running on a device that it's not supposed to run on, is it?
seems like a reach...
Yep, uninstalling market updates and immediately launching the market shows all my installed apps. It also shows the Apps and My apps icons from the main market page correctly, instead of having the top part cut off.
I wish we could block market updates . Well, at least with this workaround we can update all the installed apps easily.

Simply uninstall update. My /system/app market is the one from gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip (2.2.11, I think). The problem is the auto-downloaded market update that goes to /data/app. And I don't see a way to block it :
(edit) Well, I assume it goes do /data/app. I'll adb into it and see.
(edit2) Yep, com.android.vending-1.apk in /data/app. I wonder what'll happen if I create an empty file there with that same name and 000 permissions...
(edit3) Nothing . It's overwritten anyway by market 2.3.3. But now 2.3.3 seems to work too for me . It shows all my apps.

You may be able to prevent Vending.apk from updating if you resign the apk with test keys then push it back to /system/app.
I believe that it won't be able to update after that. I'd try it but I don't have my nook right now.
EDIT: Try pushing this one to /system/app and see if it still auto-updates.

[Q] Titanium Backup attaching apps to market

Hi. I seem to have had no problem attaching all my apps to the market with Titanium Backup's Market Doctor, however sometimes I've noticed when I install an apk and try to attach that app to the market, it just won't work. It says it's successful, but if I run the Market Doctor again the same app is there. I rebooted once and it seemed to fix the problem and I was able to attach a couple apps, but now it's back to not attaching. Also, if I detach an app it won't even allow me to attach it back afterwards. It just seems like there's an issue with attaching, but only sometimes. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've noticed sometimes it says it attached, but I check and it's not there. Reboot and it shows up.
Is the app in question showing installed when you search for it in the market?
Yes it does say installed when I find it in the market. And I know to make it show up in the "My Apps" section you just need to download another app. It's when I run Market Doctor once, it says it was successful but I run it again and the app never actually was attached.
Try shooting an email off to the dev maybe? He's usually pretty responsive..
Attaching installed apps to the market does absolutely nothing for me tbp....
The apps don't even show up as installed..

[Q] Applications and games owned by this account will appear here

What is this error and how do I fix it?
Logging into my freshly hard-reset device via Market I get a white box that states:
"Applications and games owned by this account will appear here"
I THOUGHT I solved it myself by following my own advice:
Clear data and cache.
Didn't work the first time and it seems to be randomly recurring,.... and now it's always happening, which leads me to believe it is a GOOGLE issue.
Just in case anyone else has this issue.
Anyone have any ideas?
I restored from a previously functional backup and still no dice.
It's happening to me, also. Calk's 2.0 on a Sprint S2 E4GT.
Cleared Market cache and data, no dice. Tried switching Market back-and-forth to another Google account, no dice.
Happily, I can still get updates via AppBrain.
I have a theory that it was due to something that I extracted from my CWM backup via Titanium Backup.
Did you by any chance do something similar?
I don't think my theory is in any way accurate. Something seems to be going on with the Google server end. I wish they'd fix it.
find a solution (maybe someone find one BETTER)
i have tried anything to solve this problem but no dice. now i have installed KL1 (wipe version ) and the market works perfectly
i also have heard about many problem with market on KK5..
Interestingly enough, My Apps worked correctly ... once ... after I flashed Calk's 2.0.1a over 2.0.
Still using AppBrain to sync updates.
On evo3d, this seems to be a widespread problem across many phones even on stock software. I've been experiencing for a couple months now. Do you have any sideloaded apps, bootleg or amazon or mikandi? My theory is that the 3rd party apps are interfering with the market. I have amazon apps that show in google market as purchased. I uninstalled everything and reloaded with my titanium backup, marked as sideloaded, worked for about a week then the market started reassoiciating itself with my 3rd party apps and broke again. appbrain doesnt pick up all updates either, I've been waiting for about a week for it to pick up the beautiful widgets update and hasnt so far. this sucks.
try this solution. download and install appbrain. sync your google account with appbrain and then click "sync" on apprain. when sync is finished, open market and now it works . please check this

no no no this damn problem is back. I think it was a problem kk5. I have check rom revo v4
he he, anyone that experieced this problem has blackmart alpha installed
follow this solution:
uninstall blackmart alpha. go to manage application, market>force stop it>clear cache>clear data
go to market accept user agreement
now it will work. please tell me
I have same problem before restore my apps with titanium on XWKK5; so, I think it was an error for use market doctor with system apps, then I clear all market links with Titanium and works, market came back lo list my apps but before install some apps I have the problem again and delete market link doesn't work; when I restore XWKK2 nandroid, market works fine and I never install balckmarket or similars, I've wrote to google support but only says clar cache and data from market, but doesn't work and never responding me ...
PD: Sorry for my english, I'm from latinoamerica
This is definitely a problem which surfaces with KK5.
Upon upgrade to KL1, the problem vanishes. Flashing back to KK5, even factory reset, brings it back.
I've seen my stuff in My Apps just once in several weeks...immediately after flashing Caulk's 2.5 full. Worked correctly once, then everything dissapeared again.

Same here. Flashed Calk's 2.5 full, market worked fine first time I selected "My Apps". Second time I tried, I would get one of the following:
- "Apps and games owned by this account will appear here."
- "Applications and games owned by this account will appear here."
I'm attaching a screenshot. (BTW, tried reflashing the ROM, did not solve the problem.)
EDIT: Posted the issue in the ET4G Q&A section as well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20504910
I've been running KK2 (Australian) version for around a week and all has been well until today when I've got the same error message.
Had it previously on other versions of KK2 and KK5 but now it's back.
Haven't done anything today to cause it...come on Google, sort it out

I have figured out how to fix this with titanium backup. Basically, you use the remove all market links option then attach each app back with titanium one by one. Pay attention to what apps you add back, excluding any from Amazon app store. Reboot and wait. After about a half a day things will be back to normal

I think it's only available to pro versions. It's actually labeled "Destroy all Market links" in the "market tools" menu item.

[Q] Nook Apps not updating?

Alright, I've looked all over and couldn't find anyone asking the same question, so here it goes. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Back in November I rooted my stock Nook Tablet. I did not install any other ROMs, I just rooted it and used the method to make the software version 9.9.9.
Due to some school things I haven't picked my Nook Tablet up until recently. Tonight I noticed that both the Fandango and Words with Friends apps needed to be updated. So I went to the "Apps" library and tapped "Check for Updates." When I did this, it told me that all apps were up-to-date, despite the fact that both the Fandango and WWF apps still said they needed to be updated.
I suspect this has something to do with the version 9.9.9 thing, but I am not sure, so I jumped on here to ask if anyone has any idea what's up.
Furthermore, I've noticed that if I install WWF Free from the Android Market, by Nook App of WWF no longer says it needs to be updated until I actually click on the app.
Everything else related to the Nook works fine. Downloading books, magazines, other apps, etc. But for some reason, no updates are showing up as available.
Anybody have any idea what's going on? I'm stuck. Once again, any help is appreciated!
Hmm. Ok, so I did some more investigating. It looks like you can force the app to update without using "check for updates" by archiving the app and then un-archiving it.
This is just a work around, but if anyone else has the same problem, this looks to be a way to fix it for now.
I have had the same problem.
I have a similar work around....I use Go Launcher to uninstall the B&N apps and then after a reboot I go to the Nook App Store and redownload the apps. MOST of the time it downloads the new updated version, but sometimes I have to do this process several times to get the new version.
Bill

No data or wifi connection

I'll try to keep this brief.
My wife and I both have stock standard HTC Aria's running Android 2.2. A few days ago my wife complained that her battery was discharging really fast. Then a day later mine started doing the same thing.Going flat in a few hours of standby. Normally at the end of the day they would both still have 8 out or ten bars still lit. I turned off wifi, mobile and bluetooth on both phones and that seemed to fix the battery problem.
Now when I turn on wifi or 3g I cant connect at all. My wifi router shows up in settings but it constantly is scanning-connecting-disconnecting. Also cant connect to 3g.
I have tried another sim card but the problem is the same.
As I said, these phone aren't rooted in any way. Have very few apps. Basically used as a phone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Maybe you can try a new battery. Or, if you still have warranty, give it back to service.

Thanks dansou but the problem is not the battery. I believe the power was draining because an app was trying , constantly, to access the wifi which will not connect.

Just did a factory reset and everything seems ok.
Just one other problem: When I log in to google play it is showing that I have 2 apps installed (airdroid and astro) These are no longer on my phone but google doesn't want to believe that. I've tried to trash them and tried installing them but nothing happens. It just says "These apps will be un/installed shortly"
Any thoughts?
Thanks

You may have already tried this, but maybe a reboot would do the trick. If rebooting doesn't help, you can use a file manager to take a look into Data>Apps or System>Apps and see if you can find their .apk files there and delete them. If you aren't rooted, you won't be able to delete them, and I'm not sure what you should do if that happens. If they aren't there, then it's probably just a graphical glitch and is showing what really isn't there.
EDIT: Sorry, I read your post wrong. Go into the app details of Google Play Store and select both clear data and clear cache, and that should solve the problem. If not, try rebooting.

Oh my bad, I wasn't really clear about that. It's actually in your phone settings, not the settings in the Play Store.
So you open up Play Store in 'Manage Applications' as if you were trying to uninstall it. In that menu, you'll see options like Force Stop/Disable. Scroll down, and you'll see the 'Clear data' and 'Clear cache' options, and there ya go. I hope I explained it well.

Sorry, I'm getting a bit confused here.
The apps that I mentioned; Airdroid, Astro, google play etc are showing as being installed on the google play web site. These apps are no longer on my phone after I did the factory reset. Therefore I have no way to reinstall the apps as google play is telling me they are already installed.
Is there another way to do this? Can I dl the apk files from somewhere else and install them manually?
Thanks again for all your help

You don't have the Play Store installed on your phone? If that's the case, you need to search up on google to find the apk file for it. Once you do that, you should be able to install the other apps you've mentioned.
Sorry if I misunderstood you again. I'm getting pretty confused here also.

Update:
I managed to install airdroid and Astro through Android Market app (was that the precursor to play store?)
Now when I log in to google play it shows those two apps as installed. Everything else is showing in "other apps in my library" waiting to be installed. I think I'll leave it at that. My airdroid is working again :good:

Yep, the Android Market was renamed to the Google Play Store.
It'll eventually update automatically on your phone and change back to the Play Store
