Immediate wake up after lock up and staying awake forever - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys,
I would really appreciate if somebody could give me an idea to fix the following bug I'm currently experiancing with my phone:
Since I upgraded to KG6 and KH3 after, It is happening sometimes that when I lock up the screen it immediately wakes up and staying in this situation forever which cause respectively battery drain. I forgot to mention that I have installed CRT effect only. Any idea? Should it be the cause of the additionally installed mod or it's a firmware issue. Or maybe I should look for the cause in the kernel which is actualy CF KH3
Thanks!

i have that issue sometimes.. i flashed couple of roms but no fix.. i think its the phone.. may be its the power button thats about to die or some hardware issue.. problem is basically screen randomly turns on after locking it.. stays on for few seconds and then off..

SGS2 hangs, freezes in background

Hello,
I have an SGS2, with ICS (4.0.3) I9100XLPS, IML74K.XWLP7, rooted, but AFAIK factory rom which for the past month or few months has been freezing about once a day on average.
It always freezes when in standby (screen off), and the only way I can get it back on again is if I take out and replace the battery.
Apparently (as you can see from the picture attached) it depletes the battery very quickly - must be spinning the CPU.
Occasionally (about once a week) I can also catch it reboot, for no apparent reason.
Does anyone have any clue as to how I could diagnose what is causing this, or bettery yet fix the problem?
Cheers,
Istvan

Sometimes I have the same issue... After 2-3 days the phone freezes, stock XWLP7 ROM (T-mobile-Hungary) with CF-ROOT. After ICS upgrade I had WiFi problems, but FR resolved it.
Last night crashed again, the phone stayed ~10 mins at boot screen, then boot up.
If someone has a workaround/solution please let us know.

Maybe it's because of so many apps running in the background. Try some ram managers like android assistant and kill some apps you don't use.

[Q] Screen flickers and dies

After flashing PAC rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957299) I've started experiencing some problems on my phone.
At seemingly random times when I am using the phone the screen flickers a bit then goes black and dies. When I try to power it up again it shows the battery as having something like 1% left and the phone usually dies again pretty fast. It doesn't matter if I had a freshly charged phone or 50% left when this happens, it still most often shows as having 1% left after it dies and restarts. I have never experienced this kind of problem before.
Sometimes the battery shows up as a bit higher than 1% left but still a lot lower than it was before. Earlier today it came on again with 12% left. When this happens I am usually unable to unlock the SIM-card with my pin even though I am 100% sure i input the correct code - it just refuses to accept it and i have to let the phone "rest" or charge it or just pray to the old gods for a few minutes to get it to start again.
I've used a few custom roms and I haven't done anything strange lately with it (except flashing). I flashed the rom with CWM, I followed the instructions and it went through problem free, and I was able to use the rom and phone for a day before this problem showed.
So... Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Battery related? Hardware related? Software related? I just hope my phone will survive this so I don't have to buy a new one yet since I've grown fond of this one. I appreciate any and all help!
Try different battery with your phone to rule out battery related problem. try changing kernel...

[Q] SGS2, more than sleep of death

Hello all, i have searched the forum for the past weeks now for a solution of the SOD (sleep of death), all i can find is new problems but no actual solution. But i think my GS2 is having more than just a sleep of death. It just doesnt tolerate my screen going of. From what i could find, most people have SOD when their device go into DEEP SLEEP. With mine, anything that causes the screen to go dark (e.g power saving during a call) crashes the phone. And it doesnt end at that, Getting the phone to reboot might take me up to 2hrs!!!! when i remove the battery and turn on the phone, its goes directly to CWM and selecting reboot, the screen stays dark and i have to repeat the process all over again till i get lucky (after about 2 hrs) for the phone to reboot (From CWM). Yes, i clear cache.
when the battery is below 30% the phone isnt such a diva, it still have this screen off pain in the a** thing, but rebooting isnt such a pain as when it goes dark and i have to reboot when the battery is at about 80-100%
-Am running CM9 along with the kernel it came with
-flashed different roms but all came with the same problem
-even unrooted and went back to original rom, but still had the same problem
-The phone was once repaired from water damaage. Including a battery change
-Since i started running CM9, while charging the phone, it doesnt get insanely HOT as when it was running original rom or any custom rom
-Downloaded wake lock to keep my phone always on, 24/7 so i kinda feel sorry for the phone as it is always on... and i miss my lock screen
please all u android gurus, help me out with this problem. I totally love this phone and its my first android.
All I can suggest is flash stock ROM, get rid of triangle on boot if you have it and go to service center.

Well thx for the reply. As I mentioned, the phone had water damage before so the warranty is void as they can link any single fault to the water damage. I Also found a spartanian way to solve my problem. I play music on the background and take out the volume. So now my music is on an infinite loop!!! Now I can put my phone to sleep and the battery last way longer than leaving the screen on all the time.
But still, any other suggestions are welcomed.

I have exactly the same problem as you.
I replaced usb port and battery, but still the problem.
For me it works better when the battery is low, than i'm able to send phone in to sleep and wake it up again, but while charging of with the 2000mAh Samsung batterie, the phone freezes in standby and i often can't get it running for a while. I also had your problem, that the phone boots into cwm sometimes.
Could you find a Solution? I also have no warranty and don't want to buy a new mainboard, it's to expensive.

If water damage happened recently (in the past month) I think your problem is water damage, because i think that when you took the phone on repair, they missed some spot cleaning the liquid on the board/under IC's (in the BGA), and now it started messing the circuitry. It has nothing to do with software, but there is one last thing you could try - JTAG... And i work in a service for repairing mobile phones .
Sorry if my English is bad.
Whenever a device goes to cwm upon reboot, software is misbehaving.
Keep on stock, plain stock.
If you like, you can use a nuke script to clean the device for custom ROMs leftovers.

Low Battery Issue

So i've had this problem with my i9300T SIII for a while now what happens is ill get to about 1 or 2% battery basically right when the phone is about to die. The screen will flicker not on/off but the level of brightness in horizontal lines, and either eventually lock up or turn off. If i even attempt to reboot the phone after this has occurred 90% of the time i end up with a boot loop.
I would then have to hold the power button until the phone turns off but even after i charge it after this point a lot of the time it seems this has corrupted part of the memory on my phone where the only way i can successfully boot again is by factory resetting. This has started to become quite frustrating :\ i am now having to force myself to charge my phone before trying to turn it on again lol
So my main question is would this be hardware related? I am running Cyanogenmod 10.1 Nightlies.
If this is hardware related would i be able to send it into Samsung and get it fixed?
If its not hardware then what can i do about this?

Reset after reboot

Hey guys,
have u ever heard of my problem? Please help if you did!
First of all, I think one of my batteries is broken, cause it's lasting ways to short.
If my battery goes down to 15, display starts flickering but I dont care.
Now I realized another, hard issue!
If my phone got to nearly 5% it's powered off and reboots. But it dont just reboots, it seems it is off for 30 seconds, then it reboots. Btw, without "powering down", just off. Screen off, no sound, sometimes LED glowing blue.
After that reboot i realized all of my Apps are gone, including GAPPS!! Just one of my games is still there. I didnt do any wipe!
My phone is back on non-rooted stock Android 4.3 UGNG3 DBT version.
I do not understand how this loss works!?
best regards
