[Q] cant see restored message from titanium backup - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
i have a samsung galaxy s i9000
i backed up my memos and messages using titanium backup when i had the 2.2 stock firmware.
i flashed it to 2.3.4 and tryed to restore those two backed ups.
my memos restored fine but i cant restore my messages which i had.
it says that my message is know 2.3.4 and the restored file is 2.2 version
i click on restore and it says it restored it but i cant see anything in my messages.
i dont know if it is a compatibility issue or something else anyone know how i can restore my backed up messages without going back to the 2.2 firmware

Restore SMS with Titanium/CWM/SDCard please?

Somewhere along the line, I've wiped out all my SMS/MMS. Along that line, I...
Backed up the contents of the internet SD to my computer
Did a Titanium Backup backup
Did a ClockworkMod backup
Might any of these contain my messages and how can I restore them and them alone?
Thanks.
restore your ClockworkMod backup this will have your msgs in if you did a backup before you lost them.
When you have them back get sms backup and restore from the market then you can restore and back them up when you wish, ive been using it for ages and its always worked perfect.
Gah, the SMS aren't in the ClockworkMod backup.
I think they got wiped when I updated the OS via Kies. I had rooted after that, then done a ClockworkMod backup, but I think it was Kies to blame (its own backup did not work).

Problem restoring data

Hello.
I just updated my unbranded uk galaxy s2 to ics. I tried to restore the backup i made using samsung kies but the restore failed. I only backed up memos, bookmarks and misc data. Any solution.
try restoring just the bookmars and memos and skip other, not familaiar with kies though, but it might be restoring some system files and the error.
whatever you do do not restore data from Gb to ICS, its a headache
My backup was made on gingerbread. I managed to recover the memos but not the bookmarks. I tried restoring them seperarely but that did not work either. Any other solution?

[Q] restore SMS and whatsapp messages by overwriting file from nandroid backup

FML. related to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787908
Basically i can't figure out how to fix the phone so i'm going to flash back to stock and start from there.
all i really need to do is restore sms/mms/whatsapp chats
i was able to make a nandroid backup of phone state. it looks like data partition is in a tar gz file that i can extract files from.
My question is, can I just overwrite the mmssms.db and whatsapp database files to restore?
(restoring whatsapp messages from nandroid manager has failed miserably)
for anybody interested, i was able to restore from nandroid sms and mms using titanium backup.

Can you help me on this? I am on rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 Stock (Samsung Touchwiz) ROM. I opened Titanium backup and went to "Extract from Nandroid Backup" -> "Selected the Nandroid Backup from which I need to restore the sms". Then I selected "Messaging" from the list and chose to recover "Only Data". It successfully recovered in around a minute's time eith a message to restart the phone. After restart I do not find any sms from the Nandroid backup Please help!

for sms you can use a sms backup and restore app from playstore. its free and works perfectly. no need of root or anything. just copy the backup files to different phone and use restore option.

[Q] Issue with Google Contacts and restoring backup

so here goes the story.
My dad's galaxy s3 had an Omega rom on 4.1.2
I decided to update with CM12 Unofficial from Temsek few days back. I didnt take any backup because there was nothing important there to be saved and I believed all the contacts are backed up to Google server.
So I flashed the latest TWRP and did clean install of CM12 and gapps and everything was fine.
But after logging into google and installing apps again. I reaslised all the contacts are missing! I have checked Google accounts and I cant see any contacts there. I am not sure what happened. Because I am pretty sure when I installed Omega earlier, contacts were backed up with Google.
In the end, I believe I have lost all the contacts ( 20 yrs worth of contacts).
But I found on my PC a nandroid backup of Stock FW from 2012 which I must have backed up using CMW.
My questions are:
- Do I have to flash Clockworkmod recovery again to restore the backup?
- And if I do successfully restore the backup, will the contacts be still there?
- Will there be an issue if I am going back from CM12 to Stock backup from 2012.
Please help guys. I don't want my dad to loose all his contacts!!
Instead of trying to restore the nandroid, which will lead to loss of imei and serial number, just use titanium backup to extract your contacts from the backup file.
thanks for ur reply..
but this will work even if it was not a titanium backup?
Best go read about titanium backup.
