Cm7 google apps - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed pre beta 3 and then rom manager said I need to insert an sd card. I have one in so I partitioned it and that fixed it. Then I downloaded and installed gapps using cwn recovery. 4.0.1.4 I think. After that there was nothing new in my app drawer. Am I being stupid idk exactly how everything works yet. Would gapps give me market because that's all I really need.

While I have not installed cm7 on my Atrix, I know that on my nook market doesn't show until you set up your Gmail account. Have you done that yet?

Wipe user data and factory reset then they will show

Go to bootloader then recovery find install zip from SD card go into clockworkmod folder find the zip file for gapps which if I'm correct its called go inside me" or something similar and flash it that way. Sometimes when I'm installing roms for reviews that's how I have to do it

Try what I said. Go into recovery then go to install zip from SD card then find clockwork mod folder it should be in there install the zip from there if all else fails find the market apk online. I suggest 4shared just type in apk. Android market

fixed it you have to manually mount system in cwm.

Just want to be able to use the Rom manager app to manage my backups. I like to organize by the name of the Rom within Rom manager. I may be wrong but going into recovery mode only allows me to see dates and time of backup.

I'm guessing u mean twrp (TeamWin recovery project). I would stick with that, but it's more of a personal preference. Just try both and see what u like best. They are easily flashable with a pc38img.zip through the bootloader.

Yes, I did mean TeamWon recovery. I see there is a way to flash in Rom manager but am unsure if it will conflict with TeamWin recovery.
Thanks!

If its the same as the evo, then it shouldn't. It just replaces the other recovery. If you don't mind doing this, you can get a file manager (like astro) and go into the folder where your backups are and rename the backups. However, I would only use letters, numbers and they default symbol that they use in the backups (usually a - or a .)

What I do is I keep the nandroid backups in a folder on my computer. If I want to flash a recovery (which I never do unless I'm at home anyway), I just mount the SD card and copy over. I only keep one on my card saving those precious GB for other goodies.
Thanks for all ur input. Soon as I get to my PC I will hit the thanks button.

Clockwork recovery does not see sd card

I have looked around for this answer...after flashing a few roms, there is no option to install from the sd card. I have tried remounting, reformatting, even tried to access through rom manager. Has anyone else seen this?

no, which one are you using? You should be using romracer's recovery and not the recovery from rom manager.
Also, make sure you end up in a custom recovery and not in so

go to this post and download the source file from SolidHelix then the zip file of whatever color you choose above that file ....http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1204500.....go into rom manager...flash ClockworkMod recovery...pick your phone (Atrix)...then it will say succesfull flash and give you a latest recovery build.... then reboot into recovery...wipe devalk cache....install the source file zip from SolidHelix should be titled..romracer-android_bootable something zip... then install the CWM-recovery zip (color of choice)... then reboot phone...you should now have Rom Racers CWM installed and never have to flash the recovery again.. Hope that helps
Thanks guys..it all makes sense now

[Q] CM7 Beta Missing Android Market?

So I finally got it installed on my Atrix and the first thing I notice is that there is no Market....
Why???
Why is it missing? and where can I get it?
Read the OP on the CM7 thread. It'll tell you what u need to do.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
As mentioned, it is in the post giving instructions, though I'll clarify cause some people may not realize that the market is included in it - but.....
download the google apps through ROM Manager. It's in there.
Which one do I download?! I downloaded the two new ones and I still don't have the market.....

why didnt you follow the instructions and flash the one from ROM manager?
I did but then I got a message saying that there is an Error and I need to prove that Rom Manager Exists. So what the heck do I do? This is getting really annoying.
Flash gapps through cwm.
When in cwm manually mount data before you flash. That should fix it.

How?
Sorry for sounding dumb.
Power off your phone.
Then go to recovery MANUALLY NOT THROUGH ROM manager. Go to mounts and storage.select mount data then flash the .zip

Get Google Apps:
There are no Google Apps bundled with CM ROMs, because Google asked Cyanogen to remove copyrighted apps. After flashing the rom, don't forget to flash Google Addon package if you want it. ROM Manager will allow you to flash it if you just go into it and after flashing the ClockworkMod recovery for Motorola Atrix, choose Download ROMs, and pick Google Apps.
Or download and push the gapps zip for CM7 from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Gapps#Google_Apps to the sdcard and flash it via ClockworkMod recovery. <---------------On CM7 OP! read!
download gapps zip... provided there ^^^^.....put it in sdcard or internal...boot into CWM ..."install zip of sdcard"....choose either..external/internal..flash...done.

Twrp not recognizing items on extSdCard (download folder)

I recently installed 64gig extSdCard. I have downloaded items to it (roms etc) I have checked to see if they a "really there" which they are. Problem is twrp doesn't show them for me to flash when I go into recovery
Thoughts....?

I just recently went through an issue with my sd card, even buying a new one. Ultimately what fixed it was a simple 'fix permissions' in TWRP. Don't wait until you have to go to CWM for 4.4, though. CWM took the fix permissions option out of their arsenal. Since you've got TWRP, would you try it, please and report back? I am at odds as to if it was what ultimately worked although that's what the evidence says.

Do you have the latest version of twrp?
Sorry, worth a shot.
The only other thing I got is (if you haven't already) format the card in the phone, try a new card, verify the files are correct format.
Other than that, try back to stock, reroot start totally fresh. Clean card and all.

I'm having the same issue but it's with my internal. Went from 4.3 back to tw. Flashed the downgrade zip but the stuff in my internal storage doesn't show up. The folders are all there but in twrp they appear empty.

how to uninstall crom for a new one

i tried looking on how to uninstall my crom but only found how to do it for install of stock roms
im currently running Jelly Beans for the Verizon Galaxy S3 and im wanting something that actually UPDATES XD
so im currently downloading CM11, but i dont remember how to uninstall my rom
would i need to just factory reset and wipe the 3 caches or just dalvic?
sorry for noob post
Crom? Guessing a spelling error
I assume you have a custom recovery like clockwork? If so this should be your steps
Download cm11 + gapps and put on root of sdcard (not in any folders)
Boot to recovery
Make a nandroid backup
Wipe all you can
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Reboot
Profit

OF COURSE. i go to add CM 11 and i get an error 7 even though im using the Verizon S3 rom file. and now i cant mount my SD card so im scared to turn my phone off
May have been a bad download, check the md5sum
Also make sure you have the newest recovery as KitKat changed a few things
Or simply try a jelly bean rom

im using twrp 2.4.3.0 but i have no way connecting my sd card now. its not working within recovery and my old phone isnt connecting either
best part is i made a nandroid, but cant restore because i JUST lost the sd card
In the file manager from twrp can you see your SD or does it refuse to mount?
You can always go to advanced settings and use adb sideload to install
adb sideload nameofrom.zip
adb sideload gapps.zip

*edit* and i dont have my backup on the sd card, just my pc. and icant access it .... so im without a phone until i get a sd card reader
ok i got cyanogenmod 10.2 to work but not something is weird with my LED notification, its not longer blue, its a mix of colors but basically its white, how do i change it back> i dont see anything in the settings
Well I believe you need twrp 2.6.x for SELinux support so no KitKat Roms for now, but you should be happy with 10.2
As for your led question I don't have your phone nor have I used a cm ROM in a long time so I can't answer for sure if there is a setting. But I would assume there is. If you can't find it there are apps in the market that may help, back when I believe I used one called lightflow or something on an old phone, try that or ask in the ROM specific thread as a user there would know better than I
Glad all is working
