[Q] best rom for battery. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What's the best rom and save my battery?
x8 | DX v.010

It depends on your usage, but for me it's VillainRom

The battle goes on ...

If you need to ask the same question yet again stick with stock rom .
jje

This means that the stock ROM is the best for battery life? What about Exinos Extreme that brags being the best at this chapter?

What he means is, if you have to ask which Rom is best for battery, then you obviously can't be bothered to search the forum and read the many threads on this same subject. Therefore stick to Stock Rom and you will not have to worry about it.
Battery performance is subjective and each individual will have different results. Why don't you do what most of us have done and root, then try the different Roms to find the one that suits your needs.

... do what most of us have done and root, then try the different Roms to find the one that suits your needs.
Very good point. Sometimes is better to point out the obvious.
I established a goal for my self: make my SGS2 battery last for at least 48 hours, under moderate usage for this period (30-50 min phone calls, read emails, browse internet for about 60 minutes, gtalk connected, WifI connected most of the time and 2G in the rest).
Will keep trying and share the results.

Battery life not only depends upon rom but also upon the kernals so you hav to try the best possible combination for you.

reception and bettery life rom

I didn't find anyones questions regarding the best rom for reception and battery life. I find that my phone goes into roaming mode a lot, and I was wondering if there are some roms that would replace the modem in my phone and a rom that would increase the battery life.
thank you.
Either your in an area where your service sucks or its possible you have a faulty phone. I've read complaints about some phones have horrible reception. ROMs wont improve your signal and data.
As far as battery, everyone seems to find their own method on what works best for them. Most of the roms are cooked with battery consumption in mind. Using set cpu to underclock while the screen is off is the most popular user method. Some roms have clocking settings already set to the devs liking. Youll just have to read through the development forum to find what roms have the features your looking for.
Also having low to no signal and roaming is probably the main reason your battery is draining fast.
oh I will check out some ROMs. My phone lasts about 8 hours with moderate use. I wish it lasted at least 12 hours.

A rom For GALAXY ACE (REQUIREMENTS)

Hi guys Again :cyclops:,
I'm just asking for good ROM with long battery life (Battery extender Kernel) , faster ROM , etc.
I've looked too long On YOUTube, GooGle , XDA-DEVELOPERS Forums , ...
But Finally I decided to make a New Thread for a LITTLE HELP:angel:
My requirements (approximately):
1st*Long Battery Life
2nd*Memory Booster
3rd*good Gaming-no lagging
4th*good Appearance
5th*not to be Like ICS
6th*No use of Launchers (Something really custom)
As I told you I don't want to be just like these parameters , that must be approximately
Thanks for reading
Hmm. They're too many. I suggest you try them all and pick which would suit you. I would suggest Myth2, Xperiatized, Stocklite etc etc since you mentioned Battery Extender meaning it will be stock.
The best would be to get a ROM with long battery life and maybe combine it with super v6 charger for the sake of memory.
Gaming without lagg, not gonna comment on that.
And the last two requirments can be done seperately, "good appearance" is a subjective opinion.
I'm using apocalypse rom, but i cannot say that it gives the best performance of all of the recent roms out there since i havent tried the others.
Go to a bar and ask which drink is the best. You won't get your answer. Same applies to ROMs.
I'm closing this one.

[Q]What's de best Stock/Custom ROM to performance?

I have used more than three ROMS and all had at least some sort of problem as crashes. I'm also looking for a ROM that improves the performance of my phone as in Wi-fi, applications and battery. You guys could point me to a ROM?
I'm afraid to keep switching ROM afraid that some time I do something stupid and brick my device

There is no best ROM.
Choose your own favourite from one of these

Best rom threads are not allowed. It's all subjective. If you ask 1000 guys who the hottest chick in the world is, you will get 1000 differenet answers. Thread closed

[Q] ROM with BEST battery life?

Hi
I'm new on this forum, have been lurking around before, but i digress.
I just got my SGII 2 days ago, and i'm in love with it (not literally, lol).
So, i already rooted it and today i backed up all my apps with Titanium Backup, and made a ROM backup with CWM.
Now, i find like many other users, that the battery life of JB is very poor on stock 4.2.1.
With WiFi on, and brightness settings on Auto, i lose about 2% in maybe 10-20 minutes.
When i game very shorty for only 5-6 mins i drop from 100% to 96 or 97% (don't know if this is normal or not with Minecraft and Asphalt 8, sometimes GTA 3 and Age of Zombies).
Now, with battery saving on, and brightness on the lowest settings (not auto), the battery life is alot better ofcourse, but still the battery drains pretty quickly when i'm playing a game (losing 3% maybe every 8 mins?).
Is this normal with JB or is there something wrong with my battery?
Also, if it's just the ROM, can you advice me a ROM with good battery life, preferably android 4.4?
Also, i read about Cyanogenmod 11, how is the battery on that ROM?
Thank's in advance!
Sorry if there'are any spelling errors, i'm Dutch
EDIT: sorry, my post was a bit incomplete
Battery resource usages.
Screen: 51%
Android-system 16%
Mobile standby 5%
Media server 3%
Those are some of the apps that eat up battery
3% in 30 to 40 minutes with Wi-Fi on?
I'd recommend you don't change a thing. Consider yourself fortunate because those are good numbers.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

Sorry, corrected the post, 30-40 mins was incorrect
Also, another question, when installing a custom ROM, does it matter if it's a T-Mobile version or Vodafone?
Or doesn't that matter as long as its for the i9100?
Carrier specific custom roms ?? Not sure what you mean by that; there's no such thing.
If you mean 'Can I flash a stock rom for a different country or carrier ?', the answer is yes.
I strongly recommend you read the guides/tutorials stickied near the top of General section. This will give you a good grounding in 'the basics'. If you're going to be modding your phone at all, you'd much rather read & learn, rather than learn the hard way & end up with a busted phone.

Definitly be posting around these forums, and thanks for your help again
I'm smacking the "Thanks" button for you!
Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.

[Q] omni vs cm 11 vs slimkat

at first: this is not a "whats the best rom" thread.
i have 2 very focused questions:
What are the idle times with those different roms?
Are there some Main feature differences?
Aktually im running cm11 m5 snapshot with smartassv2 Governor. its smooth but the battery life is kinda poor.
Im looking for a rom with long battery life. And i dont care about google now, talking to my phone(ok google) nor i need the special features from the standart samsung rom.
Would be realy helpfull if u can review to my questions. Greetings!
pls apologize my bad english.
1 each phone is different depending on what's installed and running.
2 read there threads or flash each ROM and find out that way. You forgot about aokp?

There are no definitive results, I have used both and I keep coming back to Omni due to the fact that on SlimKat music stutters like crazy when the screen is locked. Also, Omni updates are small enough to update often without having to download a complete update, to many users this a huge deal due to data limitations in certain countries. As for usage, idle time etc, like stated before, that depends entirely on what is installed on your device. Install a bunch of apps that need to constantly receive data updates and you will have battery drain and very little deep sleep. Where features are concerned, you kinda learn to live with limitations due to missing features on a specific rom. If you really want, you can most likely find an app that will bring a missing feature to a rom. I see a lot of people throwing their toys out the cot because one of the other does not have a specific feature implimented, yet the developers have done so with good reason, usually either performance or battery life.
With all said, there are many roms out there, Omni and SlimKat aren't the only players. It's difficult to compare roms nowadays because you are never quite sure if your kernel tweaking or custom kernel with it's hundreds of tweaks is the reason for a device not going into deep sleep either.
Give them all a try and decide for yourself, nandroid backups and apps like Titanium Backup makes it so easy.

Thx for your long, interessting and helping text!
im missing only 1 thing. if someone flashes all roms, doesnt install any apps. Only new rom and full wipe before, restart and tracks the time the phone has battery. Dont u think this is a possibility to compare the roms battery usage? i think there is no one who does this, but i probably will try this and put down a little table here. so people like me are able to see the rom with the best battery efficiency. so if they decide this rom has not enough performance, they can switch to "battery efficiency Number 2" and so on.
greetings

Sure you can do what you stated but bear in mind how will you compare the battery life across roms..
There should be some standardized test... Like looping video playback or some other method which does not change based on you usage habits..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Pa is another you're missing from you're list of developed roms. What you could do is test video playback, calls incoming/outgoing,one game of choice "high end battery draining game" and compere them all. As for the kernel tuning.. Read about what really happens and you will fine not a lot does happen with UV/uc .

You can compare but you have to use that phone for more days not like just one and you have to full charge and then discharge 2 or 3 times till the phone make the correct battery stats. So i think you can test but better with daily use or get an app that drains battey faster well i think this may work
