[Q] Motorola Photo 4g just reboots - Motorola Photon 4G

So today I notice my Photon running sluggish so I decided to reboot the device. I used Quickboot to initiate the reboot which I have done many times before. The phone started to reboot like normal it went thru the sprint animation..but after it showed the 4g screen it started to reboot again and again... I tried reflashing the phone which I have done before, which RSD Lite says everything is 100% but the phone just reboots its self in a loop. Tried it again same thing! now the batterys dead and not even the charger will charge the battery after several hours. It wont even turn on but the led is green when the chargers plugged in. can anyone help? oh and the phone had everything stocked except for the fact it was rooted.

That really sucks. Sounds like you might have a hardware fault and need to exchange it.

Or first try holding volume down and power on until you see fastboot, then hit down volume button until you see android recovery, then hit volume up, while you are there wipe your cache and see if that help you out at all?!?!? I would wipe it a couple times. Hell even at this point do a complete factory reset. Nothing to lose really.
May work, I dunno. What I had to do once. Scared the bejesus out of me!
Other than that beartrap may be correct.

thanks guys ill give it a shot because sprint said the photons on backorder...

Help Please - Thunderbolt reboot issues, stuck

Thanks in advance for your help. So far my experience with the Thunderbolt has been pretty bad - this is the worst Android experience I have had yet, coming from OG DROID and then DInc w/ CM7. Besides the bad battery life I have had several reboots, several FCs on pretty vanilla apps, problems with Exchange Sync and now this:
I have done nothing to the phone other than install a couple of apps - no rooting, etc.
I left the phone plugged in last night and this morning picked it up (still plugged in) and went to play a game of Angry Birds. App would not run, immediate force close. Ok, move on to check my Gmail - check email and delete a message, Gmail FC. Ok, let me reboot. I reboot the phone (while plugged in) and the phone goes into bootloader. I try again (not knowing at the time that this is a known issue with this phone) and keep ending up in bootloader/recovery. Unplug the power cord, pull the battery and now the phone boots to the Thunderbolt scene and sound, hangs on that, then resets immediately (no black screen) to the white HTC screen and then the Thunderbolt scene again - over and over.
I rebooted back into recovery and tried to do a factory reset - the phone flashes to the androids on the skateboards and goes right back to recovery in about 5 seconds. Pull battery and boot up - goes back into the boot loop at the Thunderbolt scene.
Not really sure what to do now - any ideas?

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but how did you reboot into recovery if you haven't rooted? I'm confused.
I would say you got a bad phone and should go ahead and take it back to where you bought it and get another one.
Sorry, probably calling it the wrong thing. Boots into HBOOT, where fastboot, recovery, and Factory Reset are available options.
return it!
I was wondering the same thing. Didn't know you can boot into recovery without root access.

Yep I would be returning it... As fast as possible.
So far my experience is the opposite, battery life isnt great sure. But the phone is blazing fast and worth the money, ill just keep a charger with me. Ive haf every smartphone made and if you use them as much as i do, the battery wont last a full day on anything. Ive give up on that. Take that beast back and get a new one.

Wasnt getting much feedback other than "return it" so I called up VZB and they are overnighting a new one.
My coworker had some problems with his too - he got frustrated and returned it and doesn't want another one. His would reboot randomly while in apps - Google search shows several people having that issue and he was getting terrible battery life compared to his iPhone and OG Droid.
Seems this phone is pretty rough around the edges considering all the delays with its release. Gonna give it another go with the replacement, but definitely not as smooth as my DInc or my iPhone 4. This thing makes my iPhone look damn near perfect in terms of stability and battery life. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Android fan with many Android phones under my belt, 2 rooted Nook colors one with Froyo and the other with CM7, and a Xoom - just been disappointed with what I am experiencing first hand and what I am reading. Only reason I asked for a replacement instead of a return is hopefully CM7 will come along soon and make this device shine.
you can enter hboot, recovery and all by holding power and volume down when turning ur phone on. then select recovery and it will boot u into recovery.

In my case booting to recovery from HBOOT got the red exclamation point. Phone was hosed I guess.

but you can only install signed/ verified VZW files in the official recovery... usually have to be named update.zip for the recovery to find them... just to clarify...
sorry to hear about your first tbolt experience... I had a Dinc for 6 months before I reccomended it to my friends... I rooted and ran every rom imaginable with 0 problems... they leave it stock and its just been one thing after another... yesterday my friend showed me her messed up camera, i told her i didn't touch it so I wont fix it take it back... good luck and hope our next one is a good one

Phone hard-bricked? :'(

So I was updating (well, downgrading firmware from 2.17 to 2.08 really) the firmware on my phone. It went through its thing and said it updated ok and to press power to reboot. I did and the screen went out, didnt come back on. Waited a minute and nothing, usually this works after a second or two so this is very odd. So I removed the battery and put it back and still nothing. I know is is VERY bad idea to remove battery during firmware update, but the update was done and the phone said it was all finished and needed to reboot by this point. Anyway, nothing will get the phone to turn on or show any sign of life. Plugging USB ion does nothing, plugging in to power does nothing. Removing SD card and trying to boot doesnt work, different battery doesnt work. Trying to hold all buttons while booting does nothing, trying to boot to bootloader does nothing, and booting like normal does nothing. Whether I press the power button or hold it for 3 minutes straight. Nothing. Is my phone hard-bricked now and I have to send it to HTC for reprogramming?

Ya if your hboot 1.5 S-ON you can't downgrade... Pullin the battery probably spanked it... Have you tried a RUU exe for the hell of it?
What hboot were you?
Wow, sorry bout your luck homey.

Unfortunately sounds like it's all done man. You've confirmed battery is good by trying other ones, so it's got juice. Based on what you've said, it's toast. As far as I know, there is no way to recover an Evo3D when it's the state yours is in. TrevE was working on some download mode stuff, I think trying to jtag it, but never got to a useful point with it. Sorry for your luck.
Edit: And the only thing I can really think of to explain why it happened, is that perhaps your download was corrupted. Flashing a corrupted radio = brick. Did you check the md5sum? Because as long as you're positive that the firmware update was 100% complete before you pulled the battery, it shouldn't have bricked.
Took it in to a repair store, they completely took the phone apart and probed it with all their special tools and all that. Apparently the motherboard is fried. Dont know how that happens with something like this but whatever. Seems almost like dumb luck that it happened at the same time, but most likely it is somehow related.
Looks like I am leaving the EVO 3D family. I will miss all the fun stuff that goes on here and the AnthraX kernels. But I sold my brand new EVO3 D I got as a replacement for enough money to cover the whole ETF from Sprint and the cost of a Galaxy Nexus. So thats where I am moving.

Amaze 4G wont turn on....Bricked?

So I got my Amaze on Friday, rooted and installed Energy Rom on Saturday, and phone just died on me on Sunday.
I was in the middle of playing Scramble with Friends and phone froze up on me. I had to take the batter out to reset it since the power button was not responsive. After I pulled the battery and put it back in, the phone would turn on.
So i read and read and found out people usually bought new batteries since the most likely culprit was a dead battery. I have a friend with the same phone and tried his battery. I saw the HTC Logo come on for a brief second and then that was it, nothing else. Phone died again and did not turn on (under his batter). I recharged my battery in his phone and tried that as well, but no luck.
Any ideas what went wrong and what I can do to fix this?
The phone is completely dead and not turning on. So that means I can't get into bootloader and recovery.
About Phone:
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP recovery
Faux Kernel
ENERGY Rom
Any incite on this would be great. Thanks in advance!
Plug it in to the wall charger for 30-45min. Unplug and pull battery again. Put battery back in and you should be good...
Don't be alarmed if the orange led light flashes... It's normal when the phone dies. Be happy you're using twrp and not an old recovery that doesn't have charging while off

Thanks, i actually read those threads before i posted. I think there are more threads about that but i tried all options and none seemed to work. I will try plugging it in the wall and pulling battery out but the battery is at a 100% charge right now (i can confirm from a friends phone). However, if its just a glitch, then i will try the wall charger trick.
Thanks.

Once you get it booted, I recommend 4EXT recovery... But that's just my opinion

Thanks - tried the battery solution but unfortunately it didn't work out for me. Phone just refuses to power up.
Assuming its an official brick.
i have a similar problem, well my battery had charged and running fine for several months, so i unplugged the battery to put my sim on it, and plug it back in when it was booting up it froze on the boot logo, so i took off the battery again so i can reboot it
and ever since it wont come back on, wont either go to the bootloader, so i let it charged all night and nothing happen no led blinking or on, so got my friends amaze's battery to test and it would not do anything at either, right now i am waiting for my replacement, but i hate the fact that this had happen to me
oh wow - well i ordered a replacement as well. I really hope it doesn't come down to a software issue and they don't end up covering the device since it has been rooted.
If the phone is completely dead and non-booting, there's no way for T-Mobile to determine if it's rooted or not. Only until it gets back to HTC to be refurbished could they (HTC) find out but at that point it won't matter to anyone anyhow.
And it couldn't possibly be a software issue. There's something physically defective inside the device that caused it to die.
htc amaze 4g refuse to turn on.
hi all, i'm a newbie here, though i have always loved the XDA. I unlocked my bootloader last night, downloaded and reinstalled my fav apps since i didnt do a backup. while i was downloading the XDA app, my fone freezed and eventually went off. When i tried to get it back on, it got stuck on the white htc screen and later went off after some seconds. It has refused to come on till the time of this post. i really need urgent advice.
I was yet to install a recovery software before the tragedy occurred.

[Q] Atrix 4g Will not turn on, Please help!

I have had this Atrix 4g for about a year now and it has worked fine. I did a factory reset on the phone because I was giving it to my girlfriend. After the reset the phone would start up in fastboot (without me turning it on). While it was on i installed all the apps set up her motoblur account but once i needed to reboot the phone it would be another factory reset. Everything would be erased and it would fastboot again. I tried to turn fastboot off but I wasn't able to. I rebooted it a couple of times trying to fix it. Even tried another factory reset but using the bootloader (holding the vol - + PWR) and resetting from there. I looked for many solutions online but to no avail. Now the phone won't even turn on. When i plug it in to a charger the LED turns on (green) but it is completely unresponsive. I was running the latest software that was available for the phone (gingerbread 2.3.4 i think). I left it on charge for a day, and it wont work either. Right now I have it plugged into my USB and the green LED is on but it is completely un responsive. Any help or advice to what is going on?
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks

I read in some forum that the problem is the sleep of death. Sometimes i have that problem and the only solution is to make a combo of pulling out the battery and connect/disconnect the charge, suddenly it boots.
Some people said that the problem is that the atrix doesn't read well the level of the battery, but it's still surely unknown

I have heard about that, and I have tried that MANY times, at least 50+. Would it be worth it to buy a new battery perhaps or is it a problem with the phone itself?

I can't say that maybe the battery is the problem because i don't k ow the conditions of it, but you can try to charge it with an external wall charger and see what happens.
In my case i was sure that my battery was full because i charged it before the combo.
Anoter thing i noticed while the process was that sometimes my phone doesnt boot if it has the back cover on, i had to remove sometimes to turn it on, maybe there is a piece of hardware failing in ny device

HTC EVO LTE reboots continuosly, display dark

Weird experience today..used my phone at lunch, no issues. Went to to use it this afternoon and it would not wake up. I held the power button down for about 10-15 seconds, then it vibrated like it was rebooting. That's when it started to vibrate every 10-15 seconds, similar to a boot loop, but the display is dark. I'm unable to get it to boot into hboot, or recovery. When plugged in, the charging indicator does not illuminate. I think it's bricked. I'm running s-off, and MeanBean. This is the first time I've ever experienced an issue like this with any of my android phones.
I hope that once the battery dies, I can charge it and hope that it boots into hboot, or recovery.
Any suggestions?
Damn. Seeing a lot of posts like this lately. Making me nervous

This has happened to me. It is in what I believe diag mode or something. I kept holding the power and volume to get in recovery, which it did go to, and I wiped all caches, and re flashed the rom, and all was good! Hope that helps.
I dropped my phone off at a Sprint Service Center today...they tried everything to restore it, or get it to boot for that matter. It's dead, replacement phone on the way.
I had the same thing happen to my phone and came across this thread while looking for a solution. I also ended up having to get it replaced. Fortunately I did a full back-up three days prior to it crapping out so I didn't loose much.
