I have the same problem. Flashed different firmwares with flasher and Setool, but touch still not working.

I have read that ther is an issue with flashing the stock Kernel on some Mini and Mini Pro
As i read that i decided that i Don't try to unlock the bootloader and Flash an insecure Kernel to obtain root because it is to dangerous
Lets hope that there will be an other method to root this device

From Setool support. You must have Setool box or dongle to be able to flash/unlock sonyericsson devices.
setool3-box.org
files.setool.net/support/SETool2

So you unlocked the bootloader flashed the Kernel and then got the Same Problem like me and your solution is to Flash the older Firmware and this worked for you?

EDIT: I fixed this problem by using the firmware on the very last post of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17429445#post17429445 page. I flashed it using the Flash Tool. It's french but has the option for english. Good luck!

is there any spesific procedure for downgrading firmware version? will it brick my phone if i downgrade just like i'm upgrading to newer firmware?

Hello all,
I'm also fighting with this problem. Has anybody more information for the reason of this bug?
My Phone:
Xperia Mini Pro SK17i 1249-0812 TYPE: AAD-3880104-BV
Bootloader is unlocked.
The Status:
My Phone is booting and all physical keys works but the sensor buttons and the Touch display is completely unresponsive/unusable.
I' ve tried different update tools (flashtool, wotan, install from CWM) and different roms:
FXP052-update-cm-7.2.0-RC0-XperiaMiniPro-SK17i-KANG-signed.7z
SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.58_(1249-7380).ftf
SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.58_GLOBAL.ftf
SK17i_4.0.A.2.335_FRENCH.ftf
also tried to update the kernel from [KERNEL] KRsH Kernel v2.0 (MiniPro)
It always results in a nearly working phone with no response from the touchscreen.
Would be very appreciative for any help!
Thanks,
Bernhard

Bought my wife a mini pro which was a SK17i
It came today and worked for about 20 minutes while I put all her stuff on it.
Then all of a sudden the touch screen and capacitive buttons stopped responding.
I had a similar issue on my x10 mini pro which related to the homebrew dual touch driver. Stock restore from SEUS fixed that.
Tried that on the xperia mini pro but it didnt help.
I've sent the phone back as faulty now.
Would be interested in hearing if the problems here are software or hardware.
Cheers

Hi guys, I have the same problem like everybody else - the touch screen doesn't work niether the capacitive buttons.
It happened when I thought I caught a virus after downloading an aplication : THE SEARCH ICON
Probably this was really stupid thought, but then I decided to make a full factory reset. My phone was rooted and after the reset the super user icon was still in the aplications. Then after 2 minutes using the phone it crushed, so I decided to unroot and then to make another factory reset and I did it.
Then the home button didn't work and the phone crushed few more times.
So I used PC Companion and update to .62. The phone was Ok for a week then it's screen and the capacitive buttons were useless.
I did 6-7 repairs from Pc Companion but still nothing.
Then I use Flashtool to flash it to SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.58_GLOBAL.ftf and again nothing. Then I flash it to SK17i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic_Trade_United_Kingdom_(1248-7407).ftf but still nothing. After that I updated again to .62 and no result.
IS THERE SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP PLEASE

Try Sony Ericsson Update Service to restore firmware completely.

I tried Sony Ericsson Update Service, too! Even with full factory reset and update to the latest firmware .62 and still the same problem! What should I do?
Someguyfromhell thanks you for your answer. I don't know why there are no posts for fixing this. Everybody asked for solution, but still none answer! I can't use my phone for a week now. It is really annoing . Please I really need help!

Sounds like the same problem I have. I was using hybrom + krsh kernel for months and was really satisfied with the phone. Then about a month ago the touchscreen went suddenly unresponsive for a 10 seconds or so. After that these lock ups started to became more frequent. I installed logcat and noticed it had something to do with touchscreen driver in kernel.
Next I tried bbooff's kernel but no avail. Then I used wotanserver to install stock kernel and rom, relocked bootloader, updated with pc companion, uninstalled all software I installed from market, did a 100% complete factory reset...
Then after using the phone for 5 minutes without lock ups I was really feeling victorious. I guess I forgot to knock wood because the touchscreen froze again. Now the phone is at the service center.
Either there is some really weird bug in these custom roms we all used or the hardware is bad. I never overcloked my phone more than 1,0 GHz -> 1,1 GHz so that can't be the reason.
I hope the service doesn't cost too much. I think I voided my warranty when I unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom kernel. The saddest thing is if it is a hardware problem caused by a bad hardware or a design fault I would still have to pay for it.

I understand, but it is really wierd, because I didn't use custom ROMs at all. I just made factory reset on a rooted phone (without unlocking the bootloader) after that I update to .62 from PC Companion and then I used the phone for a month and like yours the touchcsreen was dead for a little bit and the capacitive buttons, too. After that these lock ups started to became more frequent like yours. Do you thing that I will void my warranty, too and is there a solution for me?
Anyone with solution?

[Q] SK17 screen doesn't work

Today, I had the CM7.2 rom on my SK17, and it worked perfectly, I toke the phone to use it, but the touch screen didn't worked! I saw the things in the screen, but touching it gave me the same result as touching a non tactile screen! Of course, I couldn't unlock and use it.
I tried to enter the CWM mode and flash it. In the CWM the soft keys didn't worked, so I had to wait to flash again the boot.img at home with the computer.
But although I flashed again the boot.img, the touch screen didn't worked. I tried to flash other different boot.img, but it continues without work. I don't know what to do!!
Do you flash the right rom??mango??
Sent from my Xperia Mini Pro using XDA
Seen quite a lot of topics about SK17 touchscreen problems, but no solution yet, neither do we know what causes the bug.
Also, soft keys in CWM not working. I hear that first time.
Get back to fully stock ROM, might help you.
Of course I had flashed the correct rom, for mango, sk17, and I returned to the official rom too, but the problem persists.
I think it's a hardware problem, but I don't know if I should open the phone to see if something is broken...
Ok, I finally decided to take the phone to vodafone and make them solve the problem. It's under warranty yet and I think it's a hardware problem, so I won't have to pay, but I'll have to cope without my xperia during 10 days :S
Thanks for the ideas you suggested
yeah, me too having this problem.... once it worked i restored backup...but after 30minutes stopped working again.... i can change kernels...but not working..so i guess not the lib's fault here. Also softkeys doesnt work, i guess they are part of screen.

[Q] Someone please help

Hi,
I have upgraded to ICS Swiss initially and the phone was working fine.
It was little bit laggy and I switched to HK and as there were many language problems I flashed Singapore ICS.
From then onwards my phone started behaving weirdly.
I used the pattern lock to unlock and lock and my touch wasn't responding and the pattern used to do weird things on its own.
I reflashed Singapore ICS and my touch isnt working.
I gave my phone to the Sony service center and I lost my warranty for rooting.
The touch is responding few times and most of the time it is not working.
I am stuck with this phone which doesnt work.
Please help, I lost my warranty and cant afford to get a new one at this stage.
I asked the technician at Sony and he informed it is the software problem and their system is not allowing it upgrade or change it.
Someone please help me, I am freaking out....
I would like to go back to GB, can someone provide the steps to do that. I do not have a backup of my previous version.
Why you didn't use flashtools?
You have unlocked bootloader???
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
I used flashtool to flash the ftf files.
I have unlocked bootloader.
Did you untick the boxes to save your data each time? If so, flash the swiss again, tick everything so you get a full wipe
Sent from my Xperia S on which The Kernel has been installed but he bought no chicken.....
Or re-lock your bootloader and use sus( sony update service) to repair the software and choose factory reset.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
I checked all the boxes and followed all the steps everytime, but to my vain the touch doesnt work now.
I have done as you said, relocked the bootloader and downloaded SUS and did the factory reset.
The touch doesnt work. I think its a hardware problem.
The service center person informed that they have to change the mother board and its 70% of the cost of the phone.

[Q] WIFI keeps searching and didn't find anything.

Hi mates!
Few months back I unlocked my bootloader and recently used many custom ROMs and kernels. Unfortunately I could not use my wifi properly - I was on FreeXperia kernel and at very start wifi worked ok, but it stopped finding any networks after couple days of rom usage. Problem was reported on the Android Development sections in the ROM thread by many users, so I thought it will be fixed soon. Couple days ago I switched to DoomKernelv3, his wifi modules and Oodies MIUI ROM - worked perfectly but my wifi worked occasionally and stopped working again. I got back to stock now and I'm on Z's Recovery (very first one I used and had no wifi problems) and problem with no wifi networks still persists. Did I brick my wifi somehow? Is it possible? Does anybody experienced similar problem?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
hey
honestly... i think there is a hardware problem in your phone....
cuz even after switching rom's you still have the same problem....
i would sugggest that your use seus and get back to stock version... and just get it fixed by them.....just keep saying them that wifi doesnt works and all.....

very easy mate....
just open seus.... support->update phone->repair phone written in red color->wait and then from the list of phone choose your's->now take the battery out for 5 seconds(15sec might also work)->put the battery in->press back button and keep pressing it and then connect the usb cable....->it would flash the stock rom back plus automatically lock the bootloader again....
VOILA....
claim your phone is having hardware problems to the repair guys..... if under warranty

I don't think seus locks your bootloader you have to use s1 tool I'm pretty sure I may be wrong though

it does lock.... coz every-time i got f'd while flashing i used seus and had to unlock the boot-loader every-time.... even though i checked with s1 tool first if the boot-loader was locked or not....
any way if you r on stock rom... those repair guys... wont even notice that you flashed the device
Hi!
I have had the same problem as you. Still after repairing it in PC Companion, the problem was still there.
So I left the phone for couple of days because I got Xperia S, and when I turned it on one day and searched for WiFi networks, it finally found some networks!!!
I don't know what 'fixed' it, but I think it's a hardware issue and I was going to get it repaired until it fixed itself

I repaired the system with SEUS, no Recovery or root available anymore. I assume bootloader is locked back. Wifi works same way as it worked. Is there some wifi debug software to figure out what is going on?
Anyone?

My Ray got bricked all of a sudden and won't boot! I tried everything!

Hello guys, it's been a long time since my phone got bricked. Not sure if it's soft or hard bricked. I was on the plane and using the phone just fine and I turned it off for landing and the phone is stuck at the Sony Logo ever since. I was able to get into the CWM recovery and reinstall the rom I was on, which I had for months and even use the AROMA installer (touching didn't work though so I used the volume buttons). I unlocked the bootloader. I installed other kernels. I relocked it. I flashed many official roms. Seus would not let me update the phone because I have the latest version even though I install old versions using Flashtool. Could it be a hardware problem? Should I just throw the phone in the trash?. I don't want to buy a new phone right now because I am studying abroad in 3 months and I will be getting a branded phone (can't decide between HTC ONE and S4 )
Do you know anything about testpoints and such? Also is this considered a soft or hard bricked phone? thanks

The touch in aroma won't work I guess, as far as I know you have to use the volume buttons/home button in aroma, that's normal
So did you try to flash the stock gingerbread/ics rom and it even didn't boot up? Have you tried charging the battery?

[Q] Xperia Ray Boot STUCK!

Hello everyone i had a serious problem with my friend Ray (ST18i) . My friend said that his phone is freezing and restarting when playing some games, and then BOOT STUCK (not boot looping) at the SONY logo when gonna enter the system (when the screen light up) forever.
I already tried to flash stock firmware many times with build 4.1.B.1.13, 4.1.B.0.587, and 4.0.2.A.0.42 but the result is the same, i even thought that this phone is updated via OTA with unlocked bootloader so i do flash Xperia 2011 Range_FreeXperia_ALL.FTF by FXP and Xperia_Relock_bootloader.FTF . And the result is still the same. I even tried to repair via Sony PC Companion and Reflashed it via Sony Update Centre, but the result is the same.
The thing is my friend is just some average Android user that don't know and don't need to root or even unlocking his phone bootloader, so he's never did that thing. so i can't go to recovery (cause there isn't any) but luckily the phone still can go to flashmode and fastboot, and even showing battery chare image when charged in Turned Off condition.
I really need help from you guys to fix this issue, cause the other problem is, there isn't any Sony Service Centre in my city, and this phone isn't even bought with official warranty. I had some exprience with samsung, and many Xperia (Now using hTC though) but this is the first time i'm facing this kind of problem.
Thank you.
Have you tried unlocking the bootloader and flashing the stock kernel with cwm? Then i would wipe everything incl system and format the sd card (make back up to pc) so you have a complete empty phone. Afterwards try installing stock firmware.

Yeah i would like to try that too, but, correct me if i'm wrong isn't to unlock bootloader you need the IMEI code from the phone? and as i know it, to get the IMEI code you need to enter *#*#7378423#*#* or such in your phone dial and see the IMEI code there. After reading your suggestion, i come up with an idea to unlock it via someone else Ray Unlock code from SONY, is it a good idea?
When i reflashed it with flashtool, there isn't any sdcard and simcard in the phone btw.
Or maybe there's some way to do a full wipe without entering a recovery?

Yes it was successfull like always with the final word, Flash complete and please unplug your phone. and device connected in flashmode.
I'm about to try unlocking the bootloader first (If i can't locate the IMEI, then the test point way will do) and then, flash a stock kernel with CWM and do a full wipe first.
I think it's still early to give up, because i think there's still so many way to fix this thing rather than just flashing a stock firmware.
I hope many awesome developer like Doomlord or bin4ry will at least take a look at this thread

no there is nothing much fr us to do.
and if u would like them to fix it please contact them personally
I personaly suggest you to unlock your bootloader using the test point method rather than the sony method. That way you still have your original drm-keys.

UPDATE on UBL
Hi Everyone, yesterday i tried to unlock with 2 ways, the first way is with the SONY Official method even though the phone doesn't boot, i can get the IMEI from the back of the phone, and from the BOX (which is basically the same IMEI) and got the code from SONY. but unfortunately every time i'm in the final step i got : Remote oem unlock failed. And i'm sure i'm updated and using the latest Android SDK. i even tried to do fastboot command from other laptop but the problem still there. (Tried to google it for the same questions like that but what i got is only people that had a mistake in inputting the code number) Note: I already cross checked it for many times, that now in my inbox i had 5 same codes from SONY :silly:
Next is the Test Point with s1 tools method. But like always in the final step, i got another error which is: test point qcreceivepacket can't get packet start i tried to google it again (which is always leading me to XDA cause here is always the source lol) many people answered that same questions which is because the Xperia you're trying to root got a new version 2012 and something like that.
Note: I'm pretty sure the Xperia Ray i'm unlocking is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes, because when it's still alive i already checked it via *#*#7378423#*#* and 1 more thing is because i already tried to unlock an Xperia Mini Pro that is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: NO. Which is really can't be unlocked because the phone with that kind of status can't go to fastboot (always go to charging mode instead)
Maybe you can say i had a lot of experience with Android, but i'm just creating the forum account yesterday, so i'm still a NOOB here
which is why i appreciate all the help from you guys.
I'm gonna try Contacting the top Xperia developer (which is i still don't know how) ASAP
EDIT: Just read someone questions on Q/A General chat thread. That the reason i'm failed is because i haven't rooted my phone? Is it true to unlock you need to have a root access first? cause in my other Xperia (Active, Sola) i always root first before unlocking so i don't know if unlocking first will do.
