[Q] screen brightness Q - Motorola Photon 4G

Hello!
Very first post in this board...
There's similar threads under different phones but nothing I can find under the mopho forum, if there is please redirect me!
so here it goes: is there any way to decrease the brightness of the screen beyond moving the slider in the settings down to 0?
Thanks!

There's a free app in market called screen filter made by haxor. Try it!

There is also that power widget that allows you to set it to auto, lower and higher. Not sure if that is low enough though.

I think all this app does is "grey out" your screen. I'm pretty sure that the backlight stays at whatever setting it was at before starting the filter. You may get a bit of savings by disabling the soft key backlight, if you have them.
Not trying to be a smarta$$, but I do love this app.

App does the trick ... except it adds another icon to the display at the top. Isn't there a file that can be edited in the system to reduce the minimum brightness level?

[APP] Power Saver Mode Shortcut

This started with the update to Gingerbread on the Evo 4G. The power management settings were hidden from view unless you knew how to find them so I made an app that granted access to those settings on the Evo. I know that the Evo 3D has is listed in the settings menu, but there's no app drawer widget for it so I installed it on my 3D so I could easily access it from my homescreen. I'm just posting it here for those that might want to use it. It's a small app at 13kb and only sends out an intent for the power saving settings then finish() so it takes no memory outside opening those settings. Feel free to use anyway you want.
Thanks imma try it

Let me know if you have any problems. I may change the icon to match the power settings one. The only difference is the bolt in the middle.

Would anyone use a widget to turn this off and on? If it is possible I may make one if there is enough interest.

[Q] After ICS update - no more swipe top of screen for brightness :(

Idk if this has been mentioned yet, but i use this feature everyday...no more swiping the top of the screen to adjust brightness level.
Is there a new shortcut for this? It's very handy.
oh man are you serious?? I too use this feature ALL the time no joke... hmm maybe I should put off this update? lol. Can someones else with ICS please confirm this?
Unfortunately it is indeed gone (I used it very often before, too).

I just went back stock and updated today and can confirm it's no longer there. I noticed the same with the ICS leaks that have been out recently but just thought it was something to do with being a leak.
Unfortunate, I really liked that feature.
A lot of the CM9 based ROMS have this feature available.

That is unfortunate. When I was on the stock battery and stock I'd use that. However, now with the extended back I just leave it on auto

Do you all really not look in the market or on google for apps or do you just come here for answers cause you don't wanna take the time to look? Here is an app that does exactly what you want. You can control brightness by swipeing the top, bottom or side, your choice. It can also bee seen or you can make the bar transparent https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&hl=en
There is another app, Notification Toggle which mimics that of the 15 toggle mod that we were seeing around a bit before. You can put it in your status bar so all you do is pull down and set brightness from there plus a whole mess of other stuff.
Hope you enjoy.

Was not whineing just saying a solution could have been found in 30 seconds if you took the time to look. The search bar is your friend.

Tx for the tip porky!
Wow! After using the app porkenhimer suggested (my new favorite app : thanks) I can see what the other gentlemen were talking about. That would be a feature I would miss and ask for in future roms.
If you don't have this app, get it asap.

While your reply had useful information, you answered a question that wasn't asked and were kind of a jerk about it.

After trying this app i'll admit it's a terrible replacement. I might try the similar app that is just a widget and see if that'll work better.

Can Iseeyou be a good replacer of SmartStay for AOSP ROM?

Hi,
I'm thinking about to come back to an AOSP ROM but I need SmartStay features...can the new app ISeeYou be a good replacement on AOSP ROM? Anyone is using it (PRO version) on aosp? thanks
I know this might sound stupid but have you thought about just creating a widget to lock screen on instead, seems a much better use of battery resources imho, but then I have a real thing about all of Samsungs novelty apps,, so I am biased! Who can watch a video and do other things at the same time?! But hey, that's just me!

No no, I agree with you for the video features but during work it's very usefull for me to use smartstay features...Otherwise, I never thought about this solution, I'm thinking about of setting screen timeout on 5m and even creating a widget to lock screen, is it your way?

Yeah, I just use widgetsoid from the market, what it does is lock screen up to the max timeout, 1hr? So even if you forget to turn off I think it will turn off after 1 hour, and it works even in the dark, .......Samsung

I just installed this on my S3 running CM 10.
It does not work at all. It actually makes it so the screen never turns off.
I'm also using Widget Locker which also has a screen timeout function, and I've tried it with that disabled and enabled.
For reading long articles and playing WordsWith Friends, I would love to gain this feature back.
Any help or tips would be preferred.

Screen brightness increase

I was wondering if anybody else has this issue, I keep my phones brightness at 50% but when i open the stock browser it increases it to 100%, it's not a horrible thing (other than burning my corneas out) it's just annoying. Anybody else have this problem, or am I special :/
If I helped you... Thank me... Its quick and helps!
Stock browser has brightness setting in menu that overrides system brightness.
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
I use Smart Profile, which automatically adjusts the brightness according to the time of the day. But yes, very randomly I got this problem of 100% brightness when I change something else. Pressing power button once to sleep and and again pressing it to wake, solves this problem.
Happens once a day or once in alternate days. Not a big deal so not looking for any solution for the minor thing.
Guys. While in browser, open menu, scroll to bottom and you will see "brightness".

My stock browser (named Internet) is disabled. I use chrome.
EDIT: Lol, even I enabled it after long time, the icon does not appear. May be a restart required. Will check later.
Thanks for your help guys! It was really annoying... And I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue!
If I helped you... Thank me... Its quick and helps!
