HELP - Battery "disconnected" & not charging - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After rooting my phone and applying a custom rom, I seem to have a problem with my battery.
Whenever i plug in to charge my battery, it doesn't charge.
I've tried both Solarflare and Cognition, but it seems that my battery stopped at 70+% and never goes above 80.
Also, i'm on cognition now and when i plug in my cable, it says - battery disconnected.
I'm not sure what is happening. help please.
I've tried battery calibration app... i've tried deleting batterystats, but nothing seem to work.

Make sure battery connections are clean .
Flash stock rom.
That fails to fix .
Zero custom rom counter with USB jig return phone to service centre .

Just ran into the same problem just now. After tested CM9 then reflashed back to 2.3.6 and got the error "battery disconnected!"
Plug in charger will charge for 1s and then will stop charging and saying the same thing again.
-Solution is:
- wipe battery stats
- Plug the charger into the phone turn it on.
- Once turned on, open up the battery cover and pull the battery out. The phone will be be turned off. Don't take the cable out. Leave it in the slot.
- Put the battery back into the phone and start it up. This should fixed the "Battery Disconnected!" error.
Hope this help others.

[Q] weird battery/charging issue

So this morning when I unplugged my phone from charging all night, like I always do, the notification bar said the phone was still charging. I plugged charger back in and unplugged and it went away. A couple hours later, I noticed my battery was draining extremely fast. I check the battery in the Settings>About phone>Battery Usage, and it said the phone had been on battery for 24hrs. Meaning the phone never recognized it had charged. I refreshed and no change. I wiped battery stats in recovery and it seemed to work. I later charged the phone to 100% and the problem started again. Phone kept showing the setcpu charging bolt in the notification bar. When I checked battery usage, it just showed 0 seconds on battery and there is nothing there. No display time, no android OS, nothing. I decided to flash uNamed, coming from serendipity. After flash, battery usage still showed 0 seconds on battery. I pulled the battery, and then ended up in a batter charging/battery empty bootloop sort of thing. If I pressed all three buttons (vol up vol dwn and pwr) it would take me to download mode. I had to flash an odin kernel just to get phone working again, but battery stats are still screwy. Any ideas?
Edit > my phone keeps showing charging bolt symbol when its not plugged in. Got it to turn off by plugging/unplugging phone several times. While sitting in my pocket the phone made that noise it makes when you plug it in. Now my phone thinks its charging again. Wtf

[Q] Phone will not charge normally. Also turns on automatically when charger connected

Hi all,
I have recently come across a problem which I cannot overcome by myself and I would really appreciate your help on this!
Phone:
Galaxy S2 (3 UK)
FW:
CM9.0.0
Description of problem:
My phone will not charge the battery. When connected to a charger, it turns itself on and immediately turns back off as there is not enough charge in the battery.
Events leading to problem:
My phone has been functioning perfectly for about 5 months (on CFW) before this happened. I had noticed that my phone ran out of charge abnormally quickly one day before this problem occurred. I did not suspect anything, and put it to charge overnight. The next morning when I woke up, the battery was out of charge (while plugged to the charger!) and the phone was abnormally hot at the area above the battery connectors. During this time, the phone would not turn on. I then unplugged the charger, and let the phone cool down. After cooling down, the phone was able to boot into the OS, but turns off immediately after that due to low charge in the battery.
What I have done so far:
Following suggestions on this thread: forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/36648-galaxy-s2-empty-battery-boot-loop/
I suspected that my phone's firmware/kernel had somehow been corrupted. I then stripped a USB wire according to the thread, and attached it to the appropriate battery connectors allowing me to power my phone and flash the FW+Kernel via ODIN. I have since then flashed various firmwares in this order in attempt to recover my phone: Lite'ning v3.6 > Stock (3 UK Branded) > CF-Root Kernel > CM9.1.0.
Current state of phone:
I managed to charge my battery a little via my stripped USB cable, and started up my phone. After booting into OS on battery without charger connected, I have found that the phone will not charge the battery when connecting the charger while the phone is on.
However, if the OS boots automatically when connecting the charger while the phone is off, the battery status will be "Charging", but the charge goes up very slowly. (6% in 20 minutes?) What's even more weird is that if I take the charger off during this time, the phone immediately turns off. While the phone is sort of "functional" now, I'm really afraid that it will recur if my battery ever goes flat again.
I'm sorry this is such a wall of text, but I'd really like to hear your opinions on this. Thank you so much for reading
Did you solved the problem?
I'm with the same problem.

Have you tried a different battery?

vibrant won't turn off

When I try to turn off the phone, it will just go to the transparent/white battery icon which usually shows when the phone is charging without turning on. Then it will keep looping on that icon until i plug in a charger and then turn the phone back on.
I have tried multiple roms and kernels and even tried pulling battery on multiple occasions. As soon as i put the battery back in it shows the battery screen again and starts looping on it.
any help will be appreciated.
You might take an old toothbrush and electonic cleaner and clean your usb port, the battery icon may be telling you that it thinks your plugged and charging. Ive had that problem before.

[Q] "Soft-Brick" when battery removed?

Hi, I have been asked to repair a SGS2 for a friend. The problems he described with it are that it would not turn on, enter recovery or download mode...but would display a battery logo with a circle in it for approx 5seconds with USB power attached. He says this all happened after re-flashing using Kies - he is not very phone / IT literate.
Repair Process:
1) After some research, testing and messing about I made a USB jig for it and it booted into download mode, though only with USB power attached. Connected to ODIN and re-flashed the phone with the stock ICS UK rom (IML74K.XWLP7)...Success the phone accepted the flash no problems, but still had the same non-booting / flashing battery logo only with power error, though it would now go into download mode without the jig.
2) Did more research on here...Thanks to all the useful posts!!! And discovered that the error could be caused by the battery being totally dead, and the phone unable to boot-up enough with USB to be able to charge it - great idea Samsung, to charge the battery you must first power up off the dead battery. Not having or being able to access / borrow a SGS2 myself I decided to try to manually charge the battery by making a charging dock for it. Before charge battery had 3.53v and after 30min on-charge had 3.68v, put freshly charged battery into phone...same problem totally dead unless plugged in then flashing battery logo with USB power.
3) Lots of swearing and cursing at phone, then had a few bottles of Pear Cidre. Decided would be good idea to attack phone again! Took fully charged battery from a HTC Wildfire and for want of better description jump started the SGS2. SGS2 in one hand, Wildfire battery in other and soldering iron in mouth i think, a battery booster was born. Connected booster to SGS2 and without USB power connected turned on phone...Success it lived, finished flashing its self and booted up. Removed booster and phone reported the battery had 98% charge.
4) Passed out in bed... awoke this morning to find phone still on and working well, battery had dropped to 82% in 10h. Decided to bite bullet and turned phone off to see if it will turn back on again and...It did. Repeated process six or seven times through morning as well as using for You Tube and Interned to run battery down, still only got it down to 41%. Though would try my SIM card in to test that all works well and after turning phone off, pulling back off and putting SIM card in without removing battery it all worked great...But then turned phone off, removed SIM and accidentally knocked battery out -D'oh, did not think anything of it until i tried to power back on...dead without power and flashing battery logo with USB power, used battery booster again and phone powered on no problems at all and reports battery power without booster of 29%
Does anybody have any idea whats going on? / Why if the battery is removed from the phone it will not power on at all, even with a charged battery?????
Thank you in advance for your input!

Hardware boot problem.

Hi,
So this is the problem,
Screw somehow couldn't screw in with battery installed but it was able to do so with battery removed from phone.
I removed screw again. After some time when I screwed it in again, it just couldn't come out, just kept spinning in place.
So I, just out of boredom went to instal battery with - screwed in and + connector just placed over screw.
It worked for a while but wasn't able to display battery on stock 4.1.2 and custom 4.3, only question mark was displayed.
I have CID error so I boot over BMM.
When battery drained it would not boot anymore. After that, when connected to charger it would display ? again, and only few times it allowed me to boot, but unexpectedly shuts down while still connected.
After that it wont boot again when connected to charger or make any reaction when it's off the charger.
When I connect it to charger while it's shut down, normal process would be CID error-Orange led flash-Battery status, and now it is the same, accept the battery status which is ?
Now if I disconnect it when charging process just started it would hold till end with only charge coming from battery.
I've also tried charging with wires with no result.
Thats about it, I hope you will be able to help.
