[Q] EVO 3D lagging, not as fast and smooth as before. - HTC EVO 3D

So I rooted my EVO 3D with unrEVOked, and I noticed some problems, so I went back to 100% complete stock. So after a couple of days, I started getting SMS errors and radio interfearances. Well I got it fixed a while ago, but it also lagged once in a while when I'm typing a message, sometimes scrolling through screens, when I make my phone go to sleep, it like sleeps then wakes up right away, but now it's been like around two weeks, and I've been having a little more lag when I'm typing a message, or making the phone go to sleep, so I have to keep restarting the phone to make it run smooth and fast. I updated the phone already, and idk if its the update or the root that messed up the phone, but if anyone knows HOW this happened, and how I can get rid of this lag, then PLEASE help me out, cause this lag is pissing me off. Thanks.

Root your phone again and get rid of that sprint crap...problem solved..hehe

But I updated my phone to the latest version. Can I still root it?

U can through HTC but u can't flash very much..just 2.3.4 stuff...do u have s-on or s-off?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Oh, well then how do I root it again? Cause I mean the lag pisses me off.

Go to htcdev.com and unlock your phone then find the Su zip in the dev section, then flash a recovery either twrp or cwm then u should be good...I'm assuming you have s-on correct?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Oh alrite then, nd yes I do.

Wait, and another thing, can I still root if I have 2.3.4??

Then yeah follow the directions from HTC then do the rest and flash 2.3.4 roms u won't be able to flash kernels yet but u will soon..should find some good roms from the devs
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

As long as u flash the Su zip then you will b rooted and flash a recovery I prefer twrp...go to the development section and there will b a walkthrough
For ya...
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

After you flash a recovery like twrp make sure you wipe everything including cache and the complete wipe of the phone before flashing any ROM, I think that's why your experiencing lag because you flashed over the stock ROM when you should of wiped everything before flashing.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Wait do I get the Su zip and walkthrough? Do I get it here or at HTC?

Wait, do I get the Su zip and walkthrough here, or at the HTC dev website?

Well actually, my phone is 100% stock, like i Have nothing of root whatsoever.

Well, actually, my phone has nothing of root whatsoever, so its 100% stock.

You should make sure you know what your doing before trying things, You may end up with the most attractive paperweight around.
If you dont know what your doing you should NOT attempt things like this.

Well, most people that first come here don't know what they are doing. I think what you meant to say is, if you don't even know where or how to find a guide on rooting and flashing then before attempting anything, there is one thing you should do first. READ!!!! Read the stickies in the dev forum. Read the links in the stickies in the dev forum. Use Google to find as much info on the internet as you can before attempting anything!!! Please, for your own good read as much as you can. We cannot hold your hand through it. You need to be able to do this on your own. Read until you become familiar with the terminology. Then if you still don't understand come back here and ask. If you do that we will understand your questions better and you will understand the answers better. We all started out knowing nothing about this. I read on these forums for 2 years before posting anything. I am by no means a professional, but I do understand how to search for and find the answers to my questions.

Im afraid of rooting Vibrant. I rooted my Mt3g with ease. But this.

I rooted the MT3G with ease. And the flashing of Roms and stuff is easy for Mt3g. But it seems hard for the Vibrant. I don't use abd or anything cause frankly. I don't know how. Can you guys maybe give me suggestions?

Read, understand, experiment. Ppl only get their troubles or "panic" because they dont have anything setup & dont know how to get them selves out it. If you dont want to learn our try to use the tools that are available then just wait till the one-click ROMS or CM comes out.
If you want to take the time to learn then I would suggest to head over to the vibrant "bible".
Easiest way is just to down load one click lag fix from market there is a root option there. Or it really was easy this oas my first android phone. Download the update filter put it in the internal sd and rebooted using hold vol + vol- and power. And installed from there no problem.
Just check out the stickied thread about vibrant tips and tricks

There is also a "One Click Lag Fix" that you can download here, it takes like 20 seconds to root this phone, you shouldn't be scared

I wondered about rooting too at first, but as it turns out it's very easy. I've read several comments on how easy it is to root the Vibrant compared to Android phones back in the olden days.
And if you want to flash a neat ROM, go check out Bionix.

I just got this phone 2 days ago (my first smartphone ever!) and I've flashed it probably 6 or 7 times now...
Important advice: Right now, once you've installed Clockwork ROM Manager, make a backup of your ROM! I really wish I'd done this, just a near-stock, untouched backup (yes every thread post starts with "make a backup!" but I was stupid)
Now for some encouragement: If I, with zero knowledge of Android/rooting/ROMs/build.prop files/Clockwork/adb/Odin before Sunday at 4 pm, managed to F with this phone as much as I have and not even come close to bricking it, you'll be *golden* just flashing it with a well-known ROM.
Flashing ROMs is super easy with Clockwork. It's like... 3 or 4 clicks easy.
Right now I'm running Bionix and really enjoying it. You might check it out while we all wait for Cyanogenmod to come out for Vibrant.
TL;DR: I've been pushing files, flashing broken ROMs, all sorts of fun stuff and my phone is still pluggin' away. I wouldn't worry too much about bricking. Just read the threads, search the Googles, and ask for help if you get really stuck. And backup.
Make sure you check out Eugene323's stuff as well. He puts out some incredible work.

I had more problems with my MT3G than I did with this phone. It took a day to root and rom the MT3G since I have the one with the head phone jack (stupid gold card crap).
Do what everyone has suggested. DL the One Click Lag Fix and touch the option to root. I'm running the Bionix 1.3 and it's good.

You are correct. But you can unlock the bootloader and then lock it back up. So its like this:
Root and Unlock Bootloader
Install CWM
Install one of the only two ROMS we currently have
re-lock bootloader
Install bootstrap recovery
install updates to whichever ROM you want through bootstrap
Enjoy custom ROM with locked bootloader and 4g love
It is really just an extra step until we get the kernel source code. This is an absolute great phone and we have great people in this forum to help you out. There are quite a few guides on how to do all of this, if you want to PM me I can help you one on one get it done if need be. Other than that, hope to see you around these parts

I don't know, I find it pretty easy to do, and I'm not very good at adb stuff. I believe there is a one click root tool also and it only takes like 3 minutes to unlock the bootloader.
So I think the whole thing is pretty easy myself. Up to you really.

This is what is keeping me from even rooting. how do I unroot? In case I return this phone?

I had an ogEvo as well and new to the whole bootstrap but most of this stuff just sounds complex. Really isn't a huge deal once you get your feet wet. I had the same reservations when getting the ogEVO but over time ended up doing about everything to it. Never borked it once.

Yea, it really isn't that bad, a bootstrap is more harmless than a real recovery actually. Its just like installing an app from the market really.
And on the borking the android phones. I think this is extremely hard to do because I had an OgEvo and I don't think I could have bricked that if I tried. I think Android is some of the most user friendliest software out there in my opinion. I even thought I bricked my Photon the other day, but I didn't, you always just find out it's user error 99% of the time!
At least for me it is. lol
As for the root/unlock process with the photon, I think it is very easy once you run through it a couple times. I may make a video so people aren't so scared to try it out.

Been Away for About 4 Months

I've been Away for About 4 Months...and it looks like a lot has changed. Such as S-off is becoming more feasible...though I haven't tried it. And there is a new recovery (EXT4) that I have tried on Google Play and I like it so far a lot.
But now I am wanting to go from Gingerbread up to Ice Cream Sandwich, and I haven't got a clue where to start. I have found out that it is more than a simple update zip on your SD card.
So where should I start. I have bought Ext4 and installed it. It completely got replaced my Clockwork Mod recovery...just a question can we get Clockwork Mod back if we want it??
I have tried 2 different ICS roms and they both led to reboot loops, so I must be doing something wrong. I haven't S offed my phone because I'm a little scared of it still...read about loosing important things when you try it.
So any help is greatly appreciated to get me leading in the right direction
Thanks for the help

You need to restore to stock GB via the stock ruu or if you're on tmo you can jump straight to ICS by relocking your bootloader and loading the latest zip file via hboot, by placing it on your sd card and renaming it PH85IMG, need more info to provide further help.

I find this to be true as well. When I got my Amaze, I first read everything I could find on how to get it unlocked and rooted. THEN I did it.
Coming from an HD2, I found this device to be a bit harder to get a hold of when doing the unlock and root process. I'm not sure why, but I was confused until I read to the end of a number of threads, and even then I was nervous doing the actual unlock / root.
Totally agree. The hd2 was unique though because it started from absolute scratch. From loading from sd through winmo, then dual boot, then mag...It was built from the ground up and I felt like I was learning everything along with the devs. I felt like I really had a good grasp with that phone but this one made me feel lost again...Felt good when the wire trick worked first try though!

I just haven't felt the need to go S-Off on my Amaze... yet.

Just to be sure

Going to run ruu and get back to completely stock. Last time I relocked my bl and then got suck in fast boot. So add long as I flash the ruu through fastboot this should in theory flash room completely back to stock right? (any steps I missed please be so kind to add them...thanks allot..making a sick man happy.
I'm in middle of chemo so please no flaming. I knew it's been asked I think, but my brain is on the caputs.
Thanks for everything and Hope gg read this as I trust him and few others.
On a side note had anyone approached rmk from g2 forums? Great room dev and kernels as well.
Thanks asking

Also I ask because I tried this before and was never able to get out of the boot screen after flashing the ruu. Might it been because I was not in fast boot when I ran the command to relock bootloader? Our something?
Thanks guys even though I can be s pain sometime
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
yep, if youre s-on, relock the bootloader. if youre s-off, just flash the image from the ext sd and itll put you completely back to stock. all this is done in hboot, not fastboot
So I boot in to hboot and then relock. When that happens the phone is unusable to boot until I flash said ruu..right?
And make sure not to add .zip after rename since it's already zip format right?
And 1 more thing could someone possibly link me the proper ruu as I was confused what to get.
I want to thank you guys for all the help that you done, it really does mean a lot to me in my hard days thus far and most certainly to come.
Cheers

[Q] Need help, AOKP w/ Lazypanda issue

OK, apparently I can't post in the development forums cuz I usually find my info via searches and don't need to post. I can't find an answer to my question or a solution, so I am posting here.
I have AOKP installed and then did Lazypanda. Well, now that Lazypanda ran it prompts Hands-free activation. The problem is I get the com.android.phone FC and that kills the activation, and I can't get it to run. *#*#4636#*#* works but I don't know if that will help me. I need a way to get Hands-Free Activation to run AFTER boot process is complete.
Mahalo in advance!
Flash a sense based rom for it to connect to the network. The force close at start up is normal for the cm based stuff.

I was hoping to avoid reflashing.
U know that to avoid issues like this u were supposed to use lazypanda s-off w/ a stock sense rom?
Just flash a sense rom and activate your phone man, c'mon.
Is there a choice to do activation from the settings menu? That would be the easiest choice
Or nandroid, and flash a sense rom. It will only take 10 minutes.
Edit: actually you probably need to end up on the phone with sprint after lazy panda so you need to be on a sense rom for the dialer codes to work properly. Even if your phone does hands free on aokp you probably still won't be able to make a call without their help.
Edit 2 : ninja ^^^

I know, I am being lazy.
You could have been done by now and back up and running
Bandwidth is on premium, until LTE is up, here at my place. Between all the games and video streams to the tv, < 3Mbps gets taken up fast. I have to wait until everyone is asleep before I can do any real downloads.
