Prototype mini pro.. need help - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I have a big problem. A month ago I received a mini pro Xperia, which is a testing version. She had problems with the software and have tried to do upgrade ROM. Official site SonyEricsson gave me information that the software is updated and there is no need for a new one. I decided to do the upgrade "[Firmware] [4.0.A.2.368] [Ray] [ST18] [URUSHI] Official Firmware + ROOT solution" at the direction and started FlashTool ROM 0.3.0.0 and above.
Nothing else I did (Im not unlocked the baseband ,if needed).
Now the phone is stuck at a black blank screen, so naw not know IMEI. Unable to turn it on.
Data from the phone are:
Android version:
2.3
No other information I have. This info I pick up before the upgrade, everything except the IMEI : /
any help?
soory for my bad Eng.

As I See it you flashed the wrong Firmware. The Firmware you flashed is for another device (xperia ray).
You should have flashed the one with "SK17i". Search for that thread.
Sadly I Don't Know how you can recover your phone. You will have to wait for a professionell.

I don't know if this helps but it is a step by step Tutorial on how to flash the firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16659481&postcount=33
Furthermore you could search this thread maybe there is something that helps you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216783
And here 3rd Post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
If all that does not help ask "DooMLoRD" for help. He made all the flashing possible maybe he knows some way.
Best regards

Just flash ur phone with sk17i soft as u did with the ray version. N ur device should boot up properly.

Weird, try downloading the software file again, error doest seem to be "turn on debugging". Seems like it ends the flashing for some reason and then it prints the debug part, would show it after successful flash too. Try start flashing without phone connected n connect ur phone holding down the volume - key after flashtool tells u to.

The "unknown sources and debugging" message is shown after process is finished, no matter if sucessfull or not!
You photo clearly shows ERROR while flashing! So flash again until you flashed successful!
Also you can try to flash kernel via fastboot! s1boot should be still good! Also be SURE that you are flashing the RIGHT firmware! You always want to flash Ray firmware! Flash the SK17i Firmware!
Regards

Simply phone not go in flash mode (volume down button, green light) green light is lit 10s and then goes out. Is there another way to put it in flash mode. It seems that this problem!
Thank you all for help

Obviously this is the flashmode .... Your problems maybe the Computer, if the Computer does not speak to the phone inside the timeframe of 10s phone will leave it automatically.
So try to use other Computer.
Regards

First time I put (as I stated before) incorrect firmware "[Firmware] [4.0.A.2.368] [Ray] [ST18] [URUSHI] Official Firmware ROOT + solution" and now just wants to flesh the same firmware(ST18) so it will not SK17i . Simply , phone now recognized as the ST18. So it's not the computers, I have changed a 3-4 computers ... nothing.
In any case, thank you all for help

this should be fixable.
Try flashing the SK17i kernel via fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(where boot.img is the kernel file!)
also, flashing the phone with other tools (like Se Tool) should be a way to fix the phone.
If you cant get your phone back to life, i would love to have a go on it

Thanks man, I was able to "flashing the kernel via SK17i Fastboot" now tourn on the phone. Now show that the model is ST 18i with a different resolution displays !!!
Of course I try to remain ))))

ok, now after you have flashed the kernel, there should be no problem to manually flash the sk17i firmware!
have you tried it?

Flash the sk17i
"manually flash the sk17i firmware"
I tried not to go ://
By the way here's pictures of the new SW ...:///

I dont understand what you mean. You dont want to flash the new firmware (because you have to... SK18 firmware on SK17 isnt going to get you anywhere...).
Or you cant flash it?

Maybe I do not understand the best!! but this is SK17i-minipro2!? ST18 is ray !!!?. My mistake upgrade ST18 firmware (my firs post) and I want back on SK17i. because this is a mini pro2 (at least I think so , has querti keyboard) I got it as a prototype and model tag in the soft. no have marks that model.
Now I have software from ST18 and this is a problem because the display is 480 x 854 pixels.
Hope you can understand.
Soory for my bad Eng.
Tnx

yes i understand. xperia mini pro 2 (or actually just mini pro) is SK17i.
Download this file:
http://www.multiupload.com/IAZIBGG3P4
and the flash tool;
http://depositfiles.com/en/files/rgm0r89cp
and try to flash the software to your phone!
you may also follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16659481&postcount=33
Part (B) is the one you're looking for!

Error
The procedure that you mentioned, I worked on before but here.... I am download again ...
...but it will and will not

mhm seems like flashing the kernels seems to be the problem.
One idea i have would be to extract kernel.sin and flash it with fastboot as mentioned here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17280744&postcount=247
but maybe asking doomlord might be wise before flashing

Check the firmware or flash tool thread here or in the development forum.
I tried that too same result . What kind of forum is this no gurus or experts here who can give an expert advice or suggestion. Too much disappionted
only another "amateur" suggestion i'm afraid.
1) pull out battery (leave for 30 secs)
2) replace battery/DO NOT turn on
3) download a fresh install of SEUS.
4) run SEUS and follow instructions, complete as instructed.
5a) turn on phone, if fixed - yipee,
5b) if not - plug into usb and see if device shows in "computer"
6) (if 5b=yes) you know the phone is at least "contactable". good place to start for further troubleshooting.
7) post your results and be patient my friend, xda (x10) is currently up to its knees in new toys (unlocked bootloader) so people might take a moment to answer you.
hit thanks if i helped, seems my count is low no idea why, i think i'm helpful
Again I installed the fresh SEUS and did as instructed and no luck same result. It completely downloads the firmware but when it comes to installing the firmware its aborts. When i connect X10i to the pc it detects it as "SMEC Flash device" in device manager.
Further instruction needed

I am no "Amateur or Noob", I gave you the reflashing options, as I said, if no reflashing option available here doesn't work, then it's probably a hardware issue or you're simply doing something wrong.

When i plug it into PC and flash tool is on, flash tool recognizes it and the phone can go into flash mode as well but if i go for root option than it say to connect the phone in usb and turn off the debugging

Debug mode has to be turned on in application settings in order for flash tool to be able to root the phone. Therefore all settings except flash option will be disabled.

Trying to unlock bootloader on x10 mini pro

Hi chaps,
After trying a gingerbread rom and finding it too slow, I see most other roms require a custom kernel for best performance (and being able to use most other roms!)
Anyway, I'm running through the tutorials in the stickied Guide in this forum and during the unlocking the bootloader instructions it keeps telling me to switch my phone off.
Now it doesn't mention having the phone plugged into the PC at any point in that section but I assume you have to for the SE Tweaker tool to work .
My problem is that in the first couple of steps I'm told to turn my phone off yet as it's connected to the PC, it keeps switching back on to charge ie. it's not staying off.
So naturally me being afraid of bricking my phone and it being a first time for me, I haven't progressed past this part. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Turn your phone off and leave it disconnected from your PC
When the unlock procedure asks you to plug in your phone, press the back-button while you connect the usb-cable to your phone.
This way you enter flash-mode, which is what the tools require.

I can't seem to enter flash mode :/
I hold the back button and connect the phone to the pc. Initially it installed some flash driver onto the pc and then booted up as normal.
Now it just boots up as normal no matter how long I hold the back button (throughout the whole process so far)
Does having xrecovery have anything to do with this?
Thanks
Edit - my antivirus was quarantining s1tool.exe! derp.
Edit 2 - Success! Thanks chaps. You're all pretty cool in my books

Help
Hi,
i don't know if this comes under this section also,
i lost the post that i was using to update my x10 mini pro from 2.1 to 2.3 after my pc freezed and restarted.
So my SE finished the update but it's stuck on the Sony Ericsson text on boot up in faint brightness.
I used flshtool 0.9.0.0
rooted the phone and installed busy box.
restarted the phone with the blue screen menu a selected the NAa kernel from SD to load.
After that rebooted the phone then sony ericsson text came very bright then it starts to faint to minimum and nothing else happens.
If i connect flashtool i will get the following:
02/046/2012 14:46:55 - INFO - Device disconnected
02/047/2012 14:47:16 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off

02/047/2012 14:47:27 - INFO - Android version : 2.3.7 / kernel version : 2.6.29
i even tried SEUS but nothing happens it would ask to reboot in flashmode and the device will enter flashmode and nothing happens.
also tried to restart with the blue screen menu by pressing power and the back button multiple times and back with volume + and - nothing occurs.
I downloaded ver 0.9.1.0
and tried the force root and here is the log:
Any solution ?
Thanks in advance.

You have to flash the kernel from flashtool:
Put the kernel zipfile in the /firmwares folder where you installed flashtool
Choose the flash-button
Choose the kernel
Connect your phone in flashmode and it will be done (if your bootloader is unlocked)
You can not install a kernel from the sd-card using the CWM (blue screen) menu
The reason your phone doesn't boot up is because your ROM and Stock kernel are not compatible
If you're succesful in flashing the kernel, you should be fine.
There is no need to root your phone before you flash the kernel, and the ROM is pre-rooted.

In your original post you said you tried to install the kernel from sd-card using the CWM menu, which is impossible
I suppose you have to unlock the bootloader first, in flashtool it's under the plugins-section.
But you first have to make sure it is safe or you can brick your device doing that
Go find the post where you got the kernel from, it will have a link to the bootloader unlock tutorial.
Use that to get instructions on how to know if your device is safe to unlock.
Then use the bootloader-unlock in flashtool's plugin-menu to unlock the bootloader.
Then flash the kernel.

Yes i did the root and unlocked the bootloader.
and loaded the kernel from SD card using CWM menu.
It was asking to load the kernel from SD card,
i wish i could boot with CWM to give you the exact steps.
The device was i guess able to work but i read somewhere in forum to try rooting again using force psneuter
and that was when things changed on the device cause i used to see in Clean Root icon in flashtool lot of apps and commands in red now only ls: in red is there!!

[Q] xperia ray stuck after sony update

Hi, I have a orange network locked xperia ray st18i locked bootloader. I downloaded pc companion and did a software update and all went well. The phone booted up fine after the update until I shut it down and since then I have been unable to get passed the SE screen. It just hangs there. I am able to enter flash mode by pressing the down button and plugging the usb in. Tried phone repair option and still no jog.
Today I tried to unlock the bootloader using the pin touching menthod but that didnt work either. Said something like fatal error....
I need to unlock the bootloader to try a alternative rom to see if that works or revert back to the stock orange rom it came with but im cannot find this anywhere. I am a learner so any advice would be helpful. CAn anyone suggest a rom for the ray that can be installed using flash method WITHOUT unlocked bootloader? I am a **** for doing the uprgrade via sony website but I didnt think this would happen. should have left it as it was.
Thanks for reading.
Take your battery out and try reflashing again using SEUS.
Thread moved to Xperia Ray Q&A.
Yes I have tried that many times already and it finishes the update correctly but still hangs on the SE logo when turned on. I tried again just to see if anything has changed. When I connected the phone whilst pressing the down vol button it recognised it and said your phone already has the latest software but I re installed anyway. No change in result though.
Sony have asked to send the phone to repair and they will reply with a quote for fixing it. Has anyone used this service before and how much can i expect to pay for a software install? Repair office is in Ashford, kent.
thanks

It's not as hard as you may think
Use this to create the ftf, it's step by step. If you can't/don't want to do it I can't help you because I have no orange firmware

thanks for the reply. When I did my upgrade it went through fine so I am assuming I alraedy have the new firmware on my phone. The problem is making it work. Why does my phone just stop and hang on the SE logo? are you telling me my original orange firmware is still in my mobile?

HAD YOU READ THE FIRST PART OF MY GUIDE YOU WOULD ALREADY KNOW. Had you even read the stickys in the General section you would have found one.
Right so I created the .ftf file from the three update files. Ive downloaded x10 flash tool. I connect the phone and flashtools registers that a phone is connected then start the flash but soon after the phone just gets disconnected.
any idea's?

Download the latest flashtool (I guess it's 0.9.x) and install it. Go to the drivers folder and install all the drivers for all the phones and modes. Now you launch flashtool, but don't connect the phone! Click on the flash -> flashmode -> select the ftf and don't exclude anything (you have the ability on the right site).
Now click OK and the screen to connect the phone in flashmode appears. Shut down the phone, wait 20 seconds, hold volume down and while holding volume down connect the phone to PC.
Wait until the flashing process has finished and hope it'll start!

Thanks for guiding me and yes it finally flashed BUT the phone still hangs on the SE logo when booted up. I read somewhere on here another member had the same issue and it turned out to be the bandwidth???
What should I try now?

[Q] xperia mini st15i Keep on restarting

hello everyone,
i know that this have been probably covered, im searching for days, but i cant find any, it probably buried somewhere. i apologized to the admin, but i really want to solve this problem, i really really need my phone. tnx for your consideration
first thing first, i want you to know that I'm a noob in rooting and its my first post. my phone is sonyericsson xperia mini st15i with IMEI:0Mod Edit: please don't give out your IMEI number on a public forum) and im from philippines using Smart as my service provider, it is a prepaid account.
i followed this steps using instruction from this site "http://xperiahtcrootingrom.com/how-to-root-xperia-mini-st15i-sony/"
I think i brick my xperia mini, it keeps on restartting over and over again, heres the story,
*first i performed the downgrade to Xperia Mini (ST15i)_4.0.2.A.0.42_CE.ftf gingerbread using guide from "http://xperiahtcrootingrom.com/how-to-root-xperia-mini-st15i-sony/", and it worked and i was able to root it.
*second i performed step 3 of the said guide up to step where you execute “01-local-prop” , then i realized the the firmware i got “4.0.4 firmware” is not appearing in my choices, so i figure its not the right rom, i unplug the usb and restart the phone, then the problem starts, it keeps on restarting over and over, i tried to flash it again to Xperia Mini (ST15i)_4.0.2.A.0.42_CE.ftf but it doesnt work because it keeps on restarting, pls help, it my first time doing root, i know it’s a learning process, i hope you can help me. tnx very much. hope to hear from you soon.
i know that there are same problems with other devices, ive tried to search for it, it does have the same problems but its a different handset, i believed that there are different ways to root for every handset. tnx again, i hope to hear from you guys soon.
Were you able to flash again the Rom or not?
It should be a soft brick so if you'll install again the Rom you should be fine...

Make sure your phone has a good % of battery left
1) Power off the phone.
2) Start flashtool
3) Click on the Lighting Symbol and Select Flashmode and click OK.
4) Select Appropriate Firmware and Tick Wipe User Data and Wipe Cache check box if visible and click OK. If visible click even exclude TA
PS: The appropriate firmware is a stock firmware for your device. For example the GB rom you downloaded for the downgrade and already placed in the flashtool/firmwares folder
5) click ok and follow the on-screen indications
6) when it asks to plug your device in flashmode, plug the cable in the mobile keeping the Volume DOWN button pushed down.
7) follow the on-screen indications

Well if you again come across the bootloop problem you can check xda university for all around solution "http://xda-university.com/as-a-user/how-to-recover-from-a-bootloop"
And if you are still looking for a way to root your st15i, you can use this easy one click root software, i personally tried it and it works "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219781"

can you please explain it, step by step,
because im a newbie, i just studied this rooting and custom ROM things in two days
i think its not enuf huh.
thanks for the suggestion
Download mode can be achieved by first
power off your device
Try a combo of power and one of the volume buttons
When the buttons light up keep holding till you see a yellow triangle
From there plug into your PC
Then attempt to "flash" back to a working ROM with your PC
For my device(s) download mode is found by using the #1 button on the hard keyboard and the power button at the same time (epic 4G) and for my (my touch 3G) other device it can be found by pressing volume up and the power button.
For your device try the following Google search, just replace the bit between the "<>" with the name of your device and it should pull up a solution by page two of the Google search
"how to"+"download mode"+<name-of-device> similar:XDA
oh and the issue you're having is called a "boot loop" and is usually fixable by going back to stock and re-rooting after.

what the above poster saying is applicable to samsung phone... no yellow warning sign on sony phone.... what we call is flash mode.. power button+volume down.. but as ur xperia is older model it could be a power+back button... check whether ur phone is compatible with flash tool by Androxyde and Bin4ry... search and you need ur phones firmware as ftf format....

do you recommend sending it to the SONY service centers??
i did this things only this time because the one year warranty already expired
thank you again, for your help

i think my problem here is that, i lost my ROM together with the usb driver

Hi, Do not panic. I faced a similar problem today, and the best solution for it is using FLASHTOOL to flash the stock .ftf firmware.
From the sticky threads, download the stock ICS firmware for the phone. Also read up on how to use the flashtool.
Try and follow the solution given in the below thread, hit THANKS if it helps!
