Just rooting is not enough if you want to use SetCPU app. You need a kernel that supports overclocking/undervolting, something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252301

this can overclock with a stock kernel with root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101355

Would these do ?

running very smooth!!!! check quadrant score!!!
I now want to know if i can overclock the cpu to get even higher score and if i can how do i do it????
i cant seem to find any threads containg x10 cpu overclock
thanks
Leon
Don't know if its correct. Wouldn't we need the bootloader cracked to do so? xD

i have no idea, like i said im a complete nooob, but thanks!!!
There's a app on the Android Market called SetCPU, that should allow you to overclock your X10.
doesn't work.. at least not for me anyway. overclocking depends on your kernel, and so far I haven't found any custom kernels

That's retarded. SETCPU lets you select you frequency, it doesn't overclock...

Its amazing how many people ask this... And you would have your answer if you used your brain and used the search box...
You can not currently overclock the CPU in the X10
Once the bootloader has been cracked and we can flash custom kernels that allow overclocking, then you can

[Q] SetCPU

I'm using the InParisv4 Rom. Is anyone using SetCPU with this? If so, what overclock setting is working for you?
If you want to overclock, you need an overclockable kernel. Paris v4 uses the stock kernel. Flash Pershoot's kernel and you'll be able to overclock to 1.4ghz.
Don't forget the "thanks" button if this helps you.
Thank you! I already flashed Pershoot's kernel over that ROM. Was just afraid to overclock too high and then cause performance issues with my tab. But I will go on ahead and overclock to 1.4. Thanks slack.. will click the 'thanks' button right now! And please.. if anyone is aware of a reason why I should NOT do this, please advise
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
My tab runs perfectly stable at 1.4 ghz. If you have trouble just clock back down.

Thanks FillTheVoid... so just to be sure, do I just set the Min and Max to 1.4ghz?

set the max to 1.4 but leave the min on the lowest setting.
I just installed In Paris v4 ROM into my tab, and flashed pershoot's kernel. However when I go into SetCPU, the max is still only 1.0Mhz. Could I have used the wrong kernel? I used the TW UX one.

Did setcpu ask for SU permissions? If not, go and open up superuser quickly and try again.
Don't forget to click thanks if this helped you!

It was set for permissions. I just reinstalled SetCPU and then it worked right away, weird. Thanks though!
Is setcpu free? If so where can I find it?
its a paid app, but its free for xda members. just search for setcpu 2.2.4 and it should come up.
edit: found it for you:

Thank you for that Jager555
I prefer interactive cpu governor over ondemand.

[Q] question about yank555 kernel 3.0a

hello, sorry for this noob question, but is it necessary to install software like SETCPU with yank kernel?

I think is not necessary... I am using this version of Yank Kernel with Sotmax V12 and I did not need SetCPU app
thanks for answering so quick,
how to change cpu setting without this soft
You don't need it for the kernel to work, but it's required if you want to OC/UC, ie changing frequencies/governors

[Q] CM 10.1 Overclocking?

Hey guys I'm running the nightlies on CM 10.1 which puts me on Android 4.2 .. just a quick question, is there no way to Overclock this rom at this point or do I need to flash a special kernel? Sorry if this has already been answered -- I searched the forum but I couldn't find the answer and I can't post in Android Development sections yet.
Thanks!

Have you gone to the Build number in settings>about to enable Development under settings? If not, you won't see the Performance under settings to OC.
Just did this but it won't let you over clock it, just allows you to change the maximum speed up to the standard 1008mhz

Kernel Dev Questions

Hello everyone im hoping i am posting this in the right section of the forums.
I have been working on a Kernel for the v10 and i had a couple questions.
- I have been trying to find a tutorial on how to add Voltage Control to a Kernel but no luck. so if anyone knows of any please let me know.
- When i add some GOVs to the right sections following a tutorial and then go into config and activate them. After i flash the kernel and go to kernel auditor they are not there to be selected. So i was wondering if anyone might know what i might be doing wrong.
- Is there a way to configure it where when a core is not in use it goes offline? on the v10 all the little cores stay on at around 300 even when not in use.
- Last question is that i just want to ask everyone what are some good tweaks i can add to the kernel to make everything run smooth, snappy and efficient.
Thanks in advance,
Zach

Use 3C Toolbox to tweak your kernel. Or integrate Synaspe....
For tweaks and such it's best to cherry-pick from kernels on Github.

ok cool do you know if 3C Toolbox saves to the kernel to where i could extract the boot.img later after i use 3C and those mods will be saved in the kernel? ill have to research what Synaspe is im new to building kernels lol.
Thanks sir!

Naw, it doesn't save per say a boot.img. You gotta add the tweaks to your kernel yourself

Gotcha but all those tweaks to the kernel I can test out on that app and then know what works good and then change it in my kernel. Right?
