Nandroid and apps to SD - HTC EVO 3D

I've noticed when I restore a nandroid i lose all of the apps that I've put on the SD card. After trading up on it, it looks like I've never partitioned my SD card. My question is, if I don't use apps to SD, would my applications stay when I flash a new Rom and nandroid back like on the OG Evo?
E3D'ed... Booyah!

I noticed the same, and switched the apps on the sd over to the phone. It fixed the problem. This never happened on my old hero though... Then again I was only using apps to sd on cm6 and cm7 on the hero.

I haven't gone back to SteehH yet, really been enjoying the honeycomb themed Salt III. Hopefully not putting apps to SD will solve the issue!

was anything else erased or just your picture/movies? Has your sdcard been ejected without being unmounted first? I have no idea how else this could have happened.

just pictures and movies and pics. The card was never removed
you know ive had this problem before on my eris and on 2 previous phones that werent androids and Verizon told me that either a.) my phone/sd card got overheated or b.) while charging it there could have been a surge
that actually make sense about both thanks for the input

SD card damaged.

Woke up this morning, rebooted like usual, and my poor Eris can't read my SD. Says its damaged. Astro doesn't recognize its presence. I haven't downloaded anything or flashed in a few days. Did a soft reset, pulled out the card rebooted, to no avail, ::sigh:: what gives?

this happened to me alot when running roms with apps2sd, are you running apps to sd?. if you can backup your sd card, do so...put sd into phone and go/settings /sd card&phone storage and click reformat..
I was hoping to fix this without reformatting. I am backed up pretty well however. I am more concerned with losing nandroid backups, should I be? What is THE WORST that can come of this?

aslong as your backed up you shouldnt have anything to worry about....once its reformatted you should be able to slap your backup on and be good to go...
Is that it for fixes? Anyone else have some magic?

If you have a card reader you can plug it into your windows computer and scan for errors.
You can try turning the phone off, pulling the battery, pulling the SD. And then putting the SD card back in, and then the battery, and then turning it on.

Transfer data from 4G to EVO 3D

What will be the best method to transfer your programs with saved data when the 3d is released? I was thinking TB synching with dropbox. Any other suggestions?

I would suggest backing up all of your SD card data on your computer. When you get the 3D copy back to the SD card and install TB, then restore all apps+data.....but skip system apps+data.
Worked for me when I switched from my TP2 running Haret to the EVO.

No problem.
I'm sure if anyone else wants to chime in there are other ways.....this one just seemed the easiest to me.
Hope it helps

Well I do have a 16gb card on the EVO 4G. I think I will copy everything like you said and reformat the card then just transfer back the TB folder and that's it. Hopefully that works. I want to still use the 16gb card for the 3D.

To use TB on the evo 3d wouldn't you have to be rooted? So what if root access isn't available for a few weeks or so, then what?
There's a handy program called MyBackup with both root and non-root flavors that in some ways is very similar to TB. I used it for a while before going back to TB (more features).

I have faith in the geniuses at xda to root that puppy.

Upgrade to a gingerbread rom with the google account backup feature
It saves your home screen background, applications, and more. They're all reinstalled at first boot, so nothing nasty lingers behind to muck things up....
You'll have to redo passwords and other program settings, but it saves a lot of time.

I have a gb rom now. How does that backup thing work? I noticed it restored from an earlier rom and some apps were restored. Does this randomly backup to Google or something?

K what am I missing? I was going to just put my loaded 4G Sdcard into the 3D.

What folder are these items being stored in on the memory card? That's what I was not understanding.
I just got the 3D today and I was wondering how I would move all my game saves, etc. from my Intercept to the 3D. Thank you for the response!
if it is rooted, use titanium backup or another backup program, then install the apps on your 3d and restore the data

Memory card content erased

This happened to me last night. I lost a lot of videos, pics and music randomly. A lot of pics have an error and all the pics I lost say it is a file of 64kb. But when I try to open I get a file error. Has this happened to anyone else? Could it be the phone or the memory card? I had this card on my OG EVO with no problems.
See if you can view the files on another memory card. If so, then the memory card has gone bad.
Wait the file size went down to 64kb? Yea the memory card may be corrupt.

damn man... that sucks
i was having issues with my SD in the evo4G so i started backing it up to my computer weekly just in case.
Sorry to hear about your loss of media
If the card has gone bad will reformatting it possibly fix it or do I need a new one?
Used to happen constantly on my hero! Wipe your SD card and it should be good. Back when I had my hero it would happen when my phone would die but once I wiped it a couple of times, took it out and put it into my computer and made sure everything was off and it was good. Hope it works for you.

Doesn't hurt to try that and see if it works... If the files work on other cards or even on your comp, it is safe to say it has gone bad. But like I said, it doesn't hurt to try it.

SD CARD

Just recently I noticed that I can not save anything new to my SD card. I can delete something off the card only for it to reappear. Wiped everything reinstalled backups doesn't seem to matter. Any suggestions.

I hate to day it but sounds like you need to reformat the SD card.

I was thinking the same thing. I had been using bootmanager as you know runs different ROMS directly off the card. I can't say if that was the cause but everything is leading that way. For instance, everytime I may need to reboot the phone it automatically boots in bootmanager... long story.

I've heard people having lots of issues with bootmanager. It may be part of your problem as well.
