how to copy and store the stock operator rom in PC - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
in turkey galaxy tab 10.1 is coming with an operator called turkcell.. and they modified the stock rom with their additional apps and some tweaksand created their own custom rom.. but almost everyone is getting rid of it as soon as they buy it.. the problem is if we have to return the device for warranty they say it is our fault because we have changed the software.. so is there a way to pull the whole stock turkcell rom out and store it in the pc as a flashable file? if we can have it it will save us lots of time when we need our warranty..

and can we copy the whole rom with rom manager ? but would it be stock because in order to do this we need to be rooted..

no reply? its kind of urgent...

merhaba,
i have the same problem, i can suggest you to install cwm and get a backup of your turkcell rom. to load it back i guess you need to install a stock bootloader afte restoring by odin.
i have not done it but thinking about it myself.

[Q] Flash Original ROM

Hi guys,
I bought an LGP500 yesterday and I'm already messing with it *ofcourse* I'm trying to root the device and install some ROM's. At the moment I'm on Android 2.2.2 (V10h), so no rooting is possible (yet).
I figured out I have to flash back to the original ROM, and then start flashing to a prefered ROM, but I can't find an original ROM from Belgium in the list The_ERROR provided.
Could I just take another original ROM, fe. the one from the United Kingdom, root the device, flash another ROM and still have the possibility to have my Android phone in dutch language, or do the custom ROM's only support the English language?
Thanks in advance!
Hmm, after some reading I think it should be possible since most custom ROM's are stripped from the European one..
Can someone still confirm this?
Have flashed my phone to the 10a UK version, but I get an android.process.acore error the whole time and I'm unable to download anything of the market (I need ASTRO file manager so I can run z4root).
Any tips?
Hi,
I also just bought P500; I am wondering since you flashed a completely different ROM, what are the dangers? I cannot find my original ROM so I was wondering if I will brick my phone if I just use another one.
Well, I checked what software version my phone had (10h after the LG update) before the flash, and I found an according european original firmware 10h KDZ, so it's kindah my backup I guess. If anything goes wrong, I just flash my phone back to the 10h
I think there are no real dangers here, only not all languages are supported. I'm not sure though

1st install z4root then root ur phn after rooting i will tell u what to do...go ahead
The problem I have is installed z4root. The only way I know how to install an app from the SDcard is through ASTRO file manager, but somehow I can't download any apps from the market after the flash
Is there any other way I can install an apk from my SDcard (without root)?

Aha, I installed another original ROM (10a EUROPE), and I still got the same problem.
But I tried a reset (or how do you call that) by pressing POWER + VOL_DOWN + HOME, and my 10a was installed succesfully, with everything working like a charm.
Now I can root and flash to custom ROM's Yay!
If anyone else has problems, I'm glad to help you guys out.
After you flash your device down to 2.2, from 2.2.1, is it possible to go back to your original 2.2.1 somehow? is there a way to back this up before flashing to the original 2.2?
^^ no. nandroid backup is possible but only with 2.2 as it needs root & custom recovery.
Yes, you can find the original ROM's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
I'm not sure which version represents 2.2.1 but I think it was 10c.. not sure though
I'm sure about 10a being 2.2 and 10h being 2.2.2
Good luck
should i install 2.2.2 for my phone ?
now using 2.2.1,maybe want to reinstall the rom again
coz my phone keep hang, example switch on phone hang, open an application and jump to homescreen and other else
and can i know the country code for malaysia ?
i can't find it at all
If you only want to update your phone (without using custom ROM's), you can just use the LGMobile update to flash your phone to the newest version

south africa update Q?

hi guys.
i tried to update my LG Optimus one (p500) with pc suite iv and the lg tool but both say im up to date. im on firmware 10a...
now i want to go to 2.2.2 and it seems i cant via that method. i read the other methods by manully upgrading and down grading firmware. im on MTN network here and i heard that in order to update my firmware, my network needs to allow it. ok so in africa everything moves at a very slow speed... riding a elephant to work is very slow pace .
so what i want to know is if i do this manual firmware update will it cause me problems? and is the roms and kernels region based... in other words will it effect my simcard and network ect.?
im rooted with Z4root and i got thunberg recovery + back up.
on the backup... i cant do back up of the sd-ext ... i presume its because i have not done a partition of my sdcard... is this correct... all others are backed up.
i also cant seem to get onto my sdcard via this recovery. it picks up my device but not my sd card. so if something goes wrong i can get onto my sdcard via recovery... SCREWED
i got windows xp service pack 3 and mac probook. i have the lg mobile drivers installed on the xp system.
i hope that im clear on what i need. id really be great full if someone could help me..
anyone?

Dear i am really sorry to say that most of the things i am not able to understand. What i understood is
1) you want to change Rom (upgrade or downgrade).
2) Your SD card is not detecting in recovery.
What are the queries you have
3) GSM will work or not as you have heard it should be country specific.
Ok now here are the answer.
1) For downgrading the ROM, you can downgrade and upgrade any official ROM via KDZ updater. Here is the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883314
2) It may be something went wrong. Just restart your phone and have factory reset it may be solve your problem.
3) Yes you have heard it right. But that is only for 2.3.3. In case of 2.2 we have globe release so you can downgrade it without having any GSM issue.
From next time be precise so that people can understand what is the exact problem you are facing. If you have any query you can ask. Members will defiantly help you out.

ok so this is my phone at the moment...
p500 stock firmware 10a
rooted with Z4root
my recovery: recovery-RA-thunderg-2.2.1-GNM
i have not partitioned my SDcard
using super manager and file expert as my explorer
have titanium backup and backed everything up.
what did i do so far:
i deleted all the useless app that come stock.
what do i want to do:
1: i want to try different roms and kernels
2: i want to make sure that my nandbackup is done correctly
3: i want to know if all the roms and kernels will work in my region (south africa) even though my service provider (MTN) has not allowed any updates. so can i install a 2.2.2 version rom and will still be able to use is in my country
my Q? :
1: do i need to update my firmware to 2.2.2 if the kernel or rom is based on that firmware 2.2.2( or what ever version). or does the roms come with that firmware and if i install that rom wil my firmware be at what ever version the rom is?
2: i backed up everything i could. but when i tried to backup my sd-ext it says "something went wrong, check log". so is this because i did not partition my SDcard yet?
on the SDcard not picking up... ONLY!!! when I'm in my recovery (recovery-RA-thunderg-2.2.1-GNM), when i select usb mode in my recovery then it enables it but my pc does not pick it up as mass storage, so i cant copy over any files while in recovery mode. what must i do?
3:can i install any roms even if MTN has not enabled firmware 2.2.2
sorry for the long post
hope im more clear now
1.no you dont have to upgrade or downgrade...just flash the rom of your choice..
2.flash a new recovery and try...
3.you can use any rom anywhere .....what has mtn got to do with the phones firmware...is yours a cdma phone??
hit the thanks button if i helped you

Good dear this time you are almost on trac.
1)first of all you can flash Mik 2.3.4 rom with Franco kernel v18 find it on rom dev section.
2) it doesn't matter most. You can have contact backup on gmail server and backup your sms from any sms backup apps.
3) mike and andy from will work.try those.
1) every rom comes with kernel (firmware). You can simply flash rom and you done. Like if you are flashing Mik rom just flash zip file from recovery and you are ready to roll
2. You can ship this part.
3. this is bit controversial. official rom will work but may be without GSM. But you can flash mike and andy rom. It will work 100%..

1) ill try that rom
2) everyone seems to say back up 1st.. so i did but as i say i cant back up sd-ext... so is this just if i have partitioned?
and how can i fix the fact that i cant get onto my SDcard when in recovery... must i use clock works instead?
are you saying i must not back up?
hehehe
Look, your operator has better things to do than implement FW version checking. GSM is a standard stuff, either the phone talks to BTS or does not.
try clockwork....your 3rd question is answered above

[Q] how to entirely go back to stock?

hi everyone,
Like you guys probably noticed I´m a new member here at xda.
I just got my new phone, it´s a Galaxy gio .
So anyway, i´d like to root, flash a kernel and put a custom rom on the phone,
but my concern here is, what happens if I have to send it back to the store, will they take it back and accept my warranty if they found out i have been tampering with the software?
SO I´ve figured this out:
Action >> Go back to stock
root >> unroot available
flash custom kernel >> ???
flash custom rom >> flash stock firmware ???
I probably will not use a custom recovery since i found out it´s actually very hard to go back to stock.
So my main question is,
Will flashing stock firmware give me an stock rom, and will this also give me an stock kernel?
if not, what actions should I take if I want to have my stock kernel?
and, did anyone send their phone back to the store with something custom on it, did it void your warranty?
thanks anyway,
the gentleman.
i´ve read a bit about the subject and found out that if i flash the stock firmware this will mean both the rom and the kernel will be stock again.
Is this right?

Yes, flashing your stock rom will return your device to stock (including the kernel). If you root your device, then your warranty is voided (but they don't have to know ). If you are returning it under warranty, make sure your device is back to stock or impossible to turn on (drown it ).
Bump..
Hey guys I need to find out how to get my coby kyros 7022 back to stock. I know how to get superuser gone but i cannt get the stock recovery to flash. i have the dumped stock recovery, but I dont have a clue as to how to install it. any tips?

Another good way is get an aftermarket charger, cut the end off, expose the wires and stick them into your charging port. Easy way to fry the motherboard!

[Q] Someone Please Help Me To UNROOT my S2 :|

I've bought a S2 & ma cousin used it a week ...In between , he rooted it & installed Criskelo ROM in it , When i got it back i found that its 'WIFI' frequently Drops off! I tried changing many roms myself , but no change! it keeps on dropping off!
As the phone is under warranty , i would like to give it for repair , But i think i need to UNROOT it first or the warranty would get void...
So someone please suggest me the right method to UNROOT it & the official firmware along with it as i cannot find any backup
So please consider my request & help me !
Thanks

You don't need to unroot it - rooting does not void the warranty. Putting a custom ROM on it, however, does. You need to flash back a stock ROM. Both branded and unbranded versions can be found in the xda bookmarks page in my signature. The threads also have very clear instructions on how to flash them.
The wifi issue may well be solved by flashing a stock ROM, so don't send it back till you've tried that and checked it again.
Good luck
If you want, I can provide you a stock recovery package, which will put the phone on the complete stock
The package is GB 2.3.4 based on XXKH3 and multi-CSC OXAKH3. It includes a .PIT file, CODE.tar, PHONE .tar, MODEM .tar. But if you do return the phone, you'll need to change the CSC which is set to default to KOR. You'll want to change to XEU.

I was sure that the letter sent out by Samsung mentioned rooting as voiding warranty .Speifically instructed techs to look for apps that required root .

I didn't know that (obviously, from my comment), but I don't see how they can justify it since you're not doing anything to the phone other than "installing" something on it. I guess they could argue that rooting allows you to perform commands that you otherwise couldn't perform, and they could damage the phone, but than a factory reset would cure it.
Not sure they could get away with that if pressed, but who knows. It's still worth the "unroot" if that's what they say.
Might they also look at the custom kernel count? In which case you will need a usb jigg.
Thanks everyone...lemme install a stock rom & try giving it at service center

[Q] Is this even possible?? (custom rom build, stock recovery and unrooting)

Hi guys,
I've been asked to look into the possibility of flashing some Android tablets so that they have some extra apps included.
We all know that you can build a rom from a stock one, add the apk files to /data/apps or /system/apps, sign, package it up and then flash. However I'm looking for a more complete solution.
I need to get these tablets to a point where once I'm done, when you turn in on you get the out of the box experience, all counters have been reset, device in NOT rooted, the recovery partition restored so that the device will pass a warranty inspection.
in my mind the to do list looks something like this;
root device
flash recovery
backup device (just in case...)
dump rom (as i might have a new model that a stock rom download doesn't exist for yet!)
edit rom to include the 2 extra apps i need to install
flash the new rom
revert recovery to stock
reset all counters
un-root device
anyone know of any reason why this wont work?
I'll be honest I have been playing for a day and I can root, flash recovery, (can't dump yet so used stock rom from dl), add apps to /data/apps but I keep failing on the flash.
I also know i can revert the recovery and unroot.
Anyone got any tips? or any nugget of information that proofs I can't do this so I'm wasting my time?
thanks in advance guys.
