Can someone PLEASE tell me why when i go to my 'people' that some contacts do not show their fb pic even though they are linked with fb and fb with htc sense?? (i can see their fb updates so its defo linked)
some show pics some dont, but, even those that dont WILL show pic when placed in favourites

the only solution i've seen posted to this and i haven't tested this personally, is to wipe the contact cache/data. wiping the contact cache/data forces it to reload all the information and evidently this has worked for some people in getting all the correct contact pictures to load.
one method of wiping the contact data is to delete a sync'd account and re-add which will force it to re-sync.
hope that helps point in the right direction, keeps us updated and hopefully others who have more specific experience with this issue will post up too!
I've tried unlinking the contact from both fb and fb for htc sense then relinking but this hasn't worked.
Is that what you meant? or did you mean delete the contact completely then re add?
any other method of clearing the cache?
There is a free app in the market called syncmypix that works great for this.

Alright so I've basically fallen in love with the most recent version of KaosFroyo, minus this one aspect, and that is that almost none of the profile pictures for my synced Facebook contacts will appear on the phone. Like, 5 randomly are appearing, but none more. How can I get the other peoples pictures come up?

This has been an issue for everybody on all roms lately. You can dl the app "syncmypix" free from the market. Works great!

I was having the same issue. I was able to manually sync them last night without any extra app. While in Contacts hit the menu button then display options. Make sure that your contact list is also displaying all contacts for Facebook. Go back to your contact list and long press which contact you want to link with Facebook. Click edit contact. Then click menu and Join. Now select the Facebook contact for the corresponding person.
I have also found that going from the stock ROM to Kaos, is that if the contact name does not match up to the facebook contact exactly, it wont sync. I have not found a way to manually snyc then up like in the older stock versions.

The new official Facebook app has contact sync also. So if you wanted to, you could remove your "Facebook for HTC Sense" account, reboot, let it remove all the data, and then open the settings in the Facebook app and change it to sync all contacts. I don't know if it works any better, but it's worth a shot.

Freaking lovely! Just what I needed. Thanks! That'd been driving me batty for a week.
So my phone is pulling the wrong pics from facebook and assigning them to the wrong contact causing me a lot of confusion lol
Is there anyway to force it to redownload pics? When I go into edit contact, the wrong picture comes up as the "Facebook for HTC Sense" option so it's the htc facebook module messing this up

There was a person in my ROM thread who wasn't able to get their contact pictures to appear. A solution was posted and they thanked so I assume it worked for them. The solution:

If that doesn't work, then maybe wiping the data/data directory for the application which is having the sync'n problems will cause it to perform a fresh sync and should hopefully fix the mismatch issue.

I suggest removing all syncronizing from HTC Sense Facebook, and then using "SyncMyPix" app.
It downloads all the pictures from facebook and tries to link the correct friend with the correct contact, but you can also manually edit which friend is linked to which contact in your address book.
When you've done that, it simply remembers the links and you can re-sync whenever you want to.
I use it, and absolutely love it.

under settingys/sync remove facebook for htc sense, and download the fb app from the market and use that to sync your contacts, i had that same problem and it fixed it. the syncmypix app also works great.
So I'm having a problem with my contacts and FB not showing pictures.
For most it auto links and shows their pictures.
However for the ones I need to link manually, I can find their name under "FB for HTC" but it doesn't show a picture.
Full stock.
Anyone got a fix for me?
I had that issue where the names did not match where I manually linked the two, I got it to work eventually, but don't remember how. I might have been something simple like a reboot.
So you linked them but the pictures aren't showing? Usually this happens during the initial fb sync when there isn't a consistent connection. So go to your fb setting and for contact sync.remove it and then sync it again. it should load up all the pictures after like 30 minutes.

I had the same issue, ended up logging out of FB for HTC Sense, log back in re-sync and all worked well.

How do you log out of FB for HTC Sense? I have contact photos just fine, but under View Contact, the Events and Updates aren't updating (the photos are there in the photo gallery). So I thought I would "disconnect" FB for HTC Sense and then retry it and re-sync it, but don't know how.

Facebook, sense, contacts, image, pictureebook acct and told it to sync to existing contacts and back when I had the OG evo the contacts would automatically be updated with their facebook profile picture. Currently after many syncing attempts, restarts, etc the contacts still don't have their facebook profile pics and when I go to edit the contacts manually to add them when I click on facebook it doesn't have a picture. Is anybody else having this issue? (btw all of the contacts I've tried to manually map all have facebook profile pictures) Does anybody know of a fix? Thanks in advance

I was having this issue also, and my issue was fixed by doing two things.
1) In facebook (website), under "Account Settings -> Apps" I deleted HTC Sense (basically revoking HTC Sense access)
2) In Android "Settings -> Accounts & sync" I deleted Facebook, then readded it and made sure Sync Contacts was checkmarked.
HTC Sense should ask again to be allowed access to Facebook. Once accepting, the contact's profile pictures started trickling in.
The thing is if you're running a custom rom, the rom dev may not have included "Facebook_Client.apk" and "FacebookEngine.apk" which are essential to syncing facebook with htc sense.

I just changed to a new Galaxy S3 last weekend and there's still an issue that I have not been able to solve. When I go to the contacts app, contacts appear linked to their Facebook profile, but I cannot see their picture. In the synchronization options my Facebook account seems to be well added and the "Sync contacts" option is ticked. I just want every contact to appear with their FB picture the same way it used to happen in my already retired HTC Desire.
Any help with this?

i couldn't get this to work with the facebook app (which was the only reason i downloaded it) so instead i tried an app called "syncmypix" which did the pictures > contacts sync perfectly

CONTACT SYNC into the PLAYSTORE is for FREE and you can chose huge picture size!
Is there no way to get FB contact phone numbers (if they're on there) without using the official FB app (which doesn't seem to work)?
Try to delete the facebook sync and re-do it. Not sure if that will help.

Thank you all for your replies. Most of them are the things a "more or less experienced user" would have done and, because of this, I had already tried them...
Using either "Haxsync" or "Contact Sync" there are still some contacts that I don't get well synchronized...
I have also tried to edit some contacts manually via my Gmail account adding the HTC Data type information that is supposed to link contacts with Facebook (lines lika <HTCData><Facebook>id:XXXXXXXXXX/friendof:YYYYYYYY</Facebook></HTCData>) but not even this way I've had success...
It's unbelievable how such a simple thing can bring so much trouble...
Ok, here's what I did to finally solve it.
With Haxsync, synchronize automatically the contacts the app recognised itself.
With Haxsync, synchronize all my other Facebook contacts. There's an option to do that, you have to select all your contacts from a list, one by one.
Link manually these contacts synchronized in previous step.
With Haxsync again, assign each contact it's HTC Facebook ID.
Now, with Contact Sync, do a synchronization with the "Sync by HTC Facebook ID" option ticked.
Done!
If you have a tidy list of contacts in Gmail, every one of them with its HTC Facebook ID, there's no way it can go wrong!
I use Facebook Contact Sync - might be better or worse than Haxsync, not sure - but it's free. It works but you have to do some manual labor to set it up. It could use some more features and support from the dev but at least it does the job...unlike the Facebook app...which is a total disappointment with syncing.

I've spoken with some devs about this and it's not possible because Facebook only allows addons to see/pull certain pieces of information. Birthdays, for example, can be set to private by FB users and so addons cannot pull that data - some people have it public so it works sometimes. I believe phone numbers are just completely off limits.
This works in Wifi connection only using the official facebook app.. It will not immediately load all the images specially if you have lots of friends but it will load it all.. If not try to clear your facebook app cache and data...
Using only mobile connection facebook is a failure, all the problems will start if you are in mobile connection :cyclops:

I have always tried the sync process with Wifi connection and the official FB app won't sync a single picture... It links most of the contacts and makes them appear with the FB logo, but it does not load the picture...

Wifi connection works for me... try clearing the data and cache of facebook or better reinstall the application then try to sync again using a wifi connection (make sure you clear the cache and data before uninstalling the app).. You may need to still wait for a while if you have lots of friend.
I'm only having problem if I use Mobile connection...
An additional question: do you know if we can make the contacts be shown with their Facebook name? This was possible with HTC Sense...
Im using the official Facebook for Android app and I have contact photos, phone numbers etc everything synching fine. And thats even with moving the data from one device to another.

My SGS3 doesn't have any issues either
What do u mean by manual labor?!... I am used to use this application on my HTC Desire and it was working fine but now it doesn't work... I face a problem after linking all the contacts that I can't make any calls or receive ... What type of configurations have you done ?! ...
Btw I tried this application on two different galaxy S3 device and I faced the same problem.

I have no issues and the best thing about that app are:
more function than original app
NO transferring of your SMS (unlike the original version from facebook, which does that)
nice UI
Make sure that contacts sync setting from facebook is enabled than try to logout from facebook app and log back on... It worked for me and now I have all my contacts pictures!
all the other applications doesnt sync numbers or emails from facebook only pictures !. can somebody tell me if there is a solution ? i tried all the posted solutions but non of them is working !
