[Q] Home button tweaks? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Is it possible to change the way the home button acts? I dislike the way when you hit the home button it puts the current app into a background process. Could we change it so like an iPhone the home button fully closes an app when pressed?

Couldn't find anything

Excuse me, but I believe the iPhone puts the process to background too.

Right now im using the cynogenmod 7 KANG's version, when you go to the USB settings there is a option to fully close an app by holding the back button. You can also customize the home/menu button using that rom.

Did you hold back then press the home key and not just pressing them at the same time?

In the new Froyo builds that started to pop up if you LP the back button it is supposed to launch a screenshot app.
I don't think it works on our Vibrants though.
I did it earlier by accident but I can't redo it.

Home Button or Back Button?

What does everyone use when exiting apps, home button or back button?
It's my understanding that pressing the home button leaves the app running in the background so more battery would be used?

Back button to close app indeed.

Depends! If I want to check another app quickly then return I use home (multitasking). If I don't want to use again I always press the back button to kill the process.

Since they have different functionality, your question doesn't really make sense. You use both, depending on what you want to do.
Also, the back button doesn't kill the process, afaik there are cases when the application could remain still running.

Yep, messaging and the stock browser...there are others too...
I just stopped trying to close apps one way or the other. I just "do what i want" (e.g. surf to a website, check an app) and then leave the phone without exiting any apps. After some time I'll check the same site/service anyway, and if I want to do something else it's still just a few presses away.

[Q] Is there a mod where i can get the recent app menu

I have a rooted galaxy s3 with custom rom but im just wandering the older version of android has that recent app menu in the notification menu which i liked, is there a way i can get it back ?
What do you mean?

Isn't that a HTC Sense thing?
I just hold the home button and use the task switcher..
This is an HTC thing. An old HTC thing.

I agree
Just like the galaxy nexus the on screen navigation keys.... Back home and recent apps button was great because on the galaxy S3 having to switch recent apps by pressing home button will wear and tear button and takes 2 seconds whereas on screen recent apps button was perfect
I know AOKP rom has this on screen keys mod but any add on that someone is developing or has developed for s3 with touchwiz framework would be winderful.... This new TW is beginning to grow on me

i think goluacher also has a recent and running apps in the menu.
Check out "Task Switcher" by gdroid on play store (com.gdroid.fastfive).
Personally I didn't like it, as the curtain doesn't close automatically. But it seems to work fine.
Maybe a developer can bake it back in once some roms start flowing. But nothing I've seen. Let us know!

Good job posting what the guy on top of you posted. How helpful.
There is a new app on the market called Multitask Shortcut, it's not free (only £0.50 though) and I have not tried it but it does seem to do what you are after (check out the video he has on the app page)...

Home

I was wondering if there was an app that would give a virtual home key as my home or set up a button to go to there, search, back and settings buttons on the bottom of the screen do not work for some reason any suggestions?

If you are rooted then you can try this app out http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...psyKBw&usg=AFQjCNEqdozuMX3yXQN9zIt2ZAO6X_XEuA
This second app lets you perform gestures on your screen instead of button icons on your screen https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chukkapalli.zMooth.free&hl=en

did you close the application or just pressing your home button and re-opening the apps ?
in some case, the apps will read your action pressing home button like the exit button, so the apps just killing itself

Did u press the hm button or the back button? If home button, when u switch over to it, it shld resume instead of restarting the app. However if u press back button, when u switch over to the app. It will be new instead of resuming. Rmb if u wan multi task, press hm button. And when u wan to return back to the app. Hold the hm button and find the app and press it. Dun open it thru the apps place.
