O2 UK pay and go settings - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

mods, if this is in the wrong subforum please move to the correct area.
right i had an interesting problem today, i took off wifi and lost my data connection completly.
so heres ho to rectify this if it happens to anyone else.
please not these settings are for a uk vpad7 (it mite work with the vpad10 but im not guarenteeing it)
firstly you need to navigate to the APN settings to get there
menu>settings>wireless & network>mobile networks>access point names
now your in the apn setting menu, select the top box (O2 mobile web, underneath the bold heading it will say mobile.o2.co.uk <<< this is incorrect)
so go ahead and click to get into it.
there will be multiple settings, most of these will need editing.
Name - leave as is
APN - payandgo.o2.co.uk
Proxy - leave as is (if still not working change to Not set)
Port - leave as is (if still not working change to Not set)
Username - payandgo
Password - password
Server - http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMSC - http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy - 193.113.200.195
MMS Port - 8080
MCC - 234
MNC - 10
Authentication type - leave as is (if still not working change to Not set)
APN type - default
once again these are the setting for getting mobile internet to work on the vpad 7, with these settings i now have a H (indicating i have a hsdpa connection) and a full signal bar in the notification area.

I've managed to get WAP over GPRS working now - these intructions from O2 are what I followed - except that I first deleted teh existing connection (Right-tap on it and select delete):
Xda II GPRS WAP manual settings Pre-pay
It is not possible to select the 'Prepaid' option within 'My Xda' Connections in the O2 Active UI on the XdaII - 'Postpaid' is selected as default and cannot be changed.
To use the XdaII with an O2 Prepay SIM then the WAP settings will need to be changed manually - note that it will not be necessary to carry out a hard (full) reset in order to complete this.
IMPORTANT - once the WAP settings have been changed, if a hard reset is carried out at some future point, then the settings will automatically be re-configured back to Postpaid and they will need to be manually changed again..
XdaII Manual Setup - GPRS WAP (Prepay)
Tap Start > Settings
Tap 'Connections' tab
Tap 'Connections' icon
Under 'My Work Network' tap 'Manage existing connections'
Tap 'Edit'
The 'Select a modem:' drop-down box should be set to 'Cellular Line (GPRS)'
Tap 'Next'
Access Point Name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Tap 'Next'
Usernameayandgo
Password: password
Domain: leave blank
Tap 'Advanced'
On the 'TCP/IP' tab, only 'Use server-assigned IP address' should be selected
Tap the 'Servers' tab
Only 'Use server-assigned addresses' should be selected
Tap 'OK'
Tap 'Finish'
Tap 'Proxy Settings' tab (*Note, the soft keyboard may be hiding this tab - tap the keyboard icon at bottom right to clear this away)
Ensure that 'This network connects to the Internet' box is ticked
Ensure that 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet' box is ticked
Tap 'Advanced'
In the 'WAP' field (Server) enter: 193.113.200.195
In the field to the right of this (Port) enter: 9201
Tap 'OK' and exit
Once you have installed the settings into your handset and saved them, please switch off your handset and switch it back on. This will activate the settings for you.
you can still have full internet on o2 p&g, mines working fine
so you can actually use Interent Explorer to reach html pages?
Can you check out your settings and see how they differ from what's in my last post? Then I'll see if I can get this working too...
Just a quick not here. Try changing the http port to 8080 instead of the default 80 (thanks to gugi_sat). All works perfectly for me now Just need MMS now.

Ufone Or Telenor PAKISTAN - GPRS Settings

Can any one help me do settings for My Siemens SX-56 Settings for Ufone or Telenor (PAKISTAN) Settings. I have tried to do the settings by accessing the web pages of the said companies but its General Settings and i seem to get lost with the complicated way the settings provided by Ufone.
I also need to know how to send mms which i could not figure out at all.
thx

I can help you with the GPRS and MMS settings for Ufone. No clue about telenor.
For GPRS do the following: (I'm assuming your device has WM2003SE)
- Start > Settings
- Select the Connections tab and click on the Connections Icon
- Click on the Advanced Tab
- Click on the Select Networks button
- On the Network Management screen, under the first dropdown list (for
"programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using",
click the New button.
- On the next screen, enter an ISP name, e.g. UfoneGRPS
- No other settings needed, save these settings and clic on the Tasks Tab
- Now here you will see your UfoneGPRS connection listed with a bunch of
options
- Click on the Add a new modem connection option under UfoneGPRS
- Enter a name for your connection e.g. UfoneInternet
- Select CellularLine)GPRS) in the Select a modem setting, click next
- Enter ufone.plinternet in the Access Point Name box
- Click Next. No further entries needed, click Finish and save settings.
Your connection is now set. Click ok to get all the way back, on the today screen click on the signal strength icon to display the connection bubble. It should display your newly made connection name with a "connect GPRS" lick. Click on it and you should be connected to the Ufone GPRS network in a few seconds.
Good luck. Lemme know how it goes.
p.s. before you can use GPRS and MMS you have to call the customer services at Ufone and ask them to activate both of these services for you. It takes some time for this to happen e.g. you call them today and it will start working perhaps the next day.
For MMS do the following:
Again like the above you have to create a new connection by first creating a connection name and then a new modem connection for it. Lets say you called the connection "UfoneMMS"
These are the settings for that modem connection for UfoneMMS
- Connection Name: Ufone.mms
- AccessPoint: ufone.plmms
- Everything else: default
After this, go to pocket outlook, in the settings, do the following:
Create a Message Server as folows:
Server:
Name: UfoneMsgServer
Gateway: 172.16.13.27
Port: 9201
Address: http://www.ufonemms.com:80/
xxxxxxxx=9999999
(the xxxxxxxx and 99999999 are your MMS account username and mailbox ID that Ufone creates for you and you have to obtain it form their customer services peeps).
Then in the main settings, set the following parameters:
- Connect via: Here you select your connection name e.g. Ufone.mms
- Connect to Server: UfoneMsgServer (the server you just defined)
One last thing, I dont know how important this is but they always say to do it..
In the Slect Networks screen (where you first defined your connection), click on the Dialing Rules buttons and click "use dialing rules". Then setup new Dialing rules for say, Mobile as follows:
Dialing rules: Dialing patterns
Local: G
L.D. : G
Intl.: G
You should be all set up.
I have heard that recenty they changed some MMS related configuration so you might wanna chekc up with them to see if all the above parameters for MMS are still valid. I had them all setup and working perfectly for a while... but I havent used MMS in a long time so I dont know whats been happening recently.
If you have any trouble, lemme know. Everything should work, its working on my machine.
Access point is ufone.plinternet for lahore connections and
ufone.piinternet for islamabad connections and I think it differs from city to city be sure to check with ufone
APN
What is the Access Point Name for Multan?
please help me.

[Q] unable to install apps / APN Settings

Using Stephens 2.2 I was able to install apps from the market place.
I then did a couple of things, 1 was to install Universal Androot, the other was to configure my APN settings.
After that I'm unable to install anything from the Market (just paid for 2 apps as well).
Tried a few things, (clear cache, airplane mode etc) but nothing tried so far works, I suspect it could be wrong APN settings, can anyone post their O2 apn settings so I can double check?.
Can anyone suggest anything else to try (i did see a post saying to uninstall market updates from options, but can't find that app (the instructions were a bit vague so I could be missing something).
Thanks
There is a problem with the market either very slow at downloading or it wont download you just have to be patient and keep trying
You mean I've just factory reset my phone for nothing !!!!!!
Fill in adequate expletives here

I'm not sure quite how but I seem to have sorted it out, earlier it wouldn't download
using APN settings I found elsewhere, these were as follows (trying to help others),
----------------------------------------------------------
Name: O2 Internet
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: vertigo
password: password
MCC:234
MNC 10
APN type: default (actually type in default, don't leave it blank)
All others remain as "not set".
2nd access point
Name: O2 MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk
port:9201
username: o2wap
password: password
server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mmsc: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN type: mms
---------------------
Neither the phone's own connection or my home wifi connection would work, did a factory re-set, no APN's configured, setup wireless and downloaded three or four apps from market no problems.
Did a bit more configuring on the phone and then needed some more apps only this time they wouldn't download, same issue as before. No APN's configured yet.
Tried all sorts of the recommended fixes but no success.
Stopped wifi configured this APN :-
------------------------------------------------
Name o2
APN mobile.o2.co.uk
Username mobileweb
Password password
------------------------------------------------
I dont think I rebooted, but after enabling the connection and giving it a couple of minutes to settle, then trying a web page I went back to market and apps have downloaded since (5 apps).
Sometimes I get a "Network Error" when starting and have to close market and try again but so far have managed to install 5 apps.
So, wifi connection sometimes works, which got me wondering :-
I read somewhere that Market uses different ports, is there a list of ports (will search after this) and do they sometimes switch ports, eg if there's a number of connections on one port do they switch to another (and this one is blocked by my firewall).
Do they blacklist certain IP's during busy times, eg server is really busy and I've downloaded apps for 20 minutes (really slow connection at home) so they block my IP ?.
In other words, is this deliberate in order to share overloaded bandwidth fairly ? rather than a problem with phones/settings themselves.

[FIX] U.S. Edition Moto E T-Mobile Connectivity Issues

Hi Everyone,
T-Mobile/Moto E user here, and I was having significant connectivity issues with my device. You see, One second I'd have HSPA, which would tick down to 3g, then tick down to edge, then, soon after, disconnect completely.
I don't know if location has a bearing on this, but I do like in Southern California.
Now, I tried numerous troubleshooting methods which range from replacing the sim, to talking to T-Mobile and Motorola tech support. Fortunately, one of the T-Mobile CSRs suggested I tweak the access point network, which ended up working out
OK, So here is what I did.
1. Go to Settings>Mobile networks>Access Point Names
2. Create new APN
3. Input the following (bold are the main changes)
Name - T-Mobile US Moto E
APN - epc.tmobile.com
Proxy - Not set
Port - Not set
Username - none
Password - ****
Server - wap.voicestream.com
MMSC - http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy - 216.155.165.50
MMS port - Not set
MCC - 310
MNC - 260
Authentication type - Not set
APN type - default
APN protocol - IPv4
APN roaming protocol - IPv4
APN enable/disable - APN enabled (greyed out)
Bearer - Unspecified
MVNO type - None
MVNO value - Not Set (greyed out)
4. Hit menu>save
5. Select T-Mobile US Moto E as new APN
And, just like that, your phone will have significant better connectivity.
Have a great day!

Any alternative UK three network APN settings?

Hi all,
I know there are a few different APN settings for the three network in the UK, could anyone post here what they have or have adjusted On theirs?
Background info.... until April I had an old note4, that I used for tethering my iPad etc too that three couldn't monitor how much tethering I did on it. Unfortunately it died and I bought the S8 in April.... newer software etc meant that three could now monitor the amount and stopped me at 4gb (despite my offering to pay more or change to a newer contract that offers up to 30gb tether they said no).
Desperately searched the internet and found a thread that someone put their 'adjusted' APN setting on.... tried it and success unlimited tether.
Last week a repair at phone store and they accidentally wiped all my settings!!!! I'm gutted now as I forgot to write them down and am unable to find the APN settings again.
So any settings/advice/tips appreciated (feelfred to message if preferred)
Thanks
