[Q] screen orientation animations - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So as you know with the new motoblur ui there are these nifty (And in my opinion sexy ;3) turn animations. but what i want to know is, if i switch to a rom lets say cm7 or the soon to come miui, would there be any possible way to get these animations back or get any animation when i turn the screen at all? i hate the simple "Turn the screen the screen turns" its blocky and 8 bit to me. and please dont chop my head off if this was already asked :3 I looked through the forums and couldnt find anything like this.
-thanks in advance

If it's any help, I've flashed all sorts of gingerbread ROMs (currently running Nottach's Darkside vI.4 with his Evoluer theme) and it has remained present.
I'm with you, I like it as well. I don't think you have to worry about it disappearing.
Granted, don't quote me when it comes to CM7.

I'm not sure but if you use certain launchers, you could get those animations back. I haven't seen the motoblur ones but i saw a youtube review of some launcher which had a screen orientation animation which looked like the iOS one, just as smooth but about 1 second longer.

Alas the ONLY down side to rocking cm7 imo. That rotation animation is so sexy and was the only thing I felt android was missing. Someone would have to figure out how to take the animation from blur and make it compatible with cm7. Which I am fairly certain is much easier said than done. That being said maybe with the new version of android coming out soon, perhaps google will add it into ice cream sandwich. And if that happens then I expect we will see it in future cyanogen roms.

So anybody else think they should get rid of sense for 2.2?

yeah sense is nice and all but IMO the new Froyo ui looks way better.
I'm sure they will come out with an updated version of sense that compliments froyo. Android was ugly (still is even with 2.1 for the most part) and sense made it more accessible for the average consumer. A lot of people hate on it, but it does end up making the end user experience more fun for me. Can't wait to try 2.2, plan on using vanilla for a while, until I see what HTC does with the next iteration of Sense.
No I mean get rid of it completely in my opinion it'snot very aesthetically pleasing and also it causes the phone's performance to go down.

Ask HTC? I dont see them abandoning sense cause google made android prettier.
I really cannot understand people's unbridled hate towards sense ui. everything HTC adds to the phone has been everything I wanted, and google eventually did themselves. facebook and twitter integration, the widgets they provide are awesome, and just in my personal opinion the design is a hell of a lot sleeker then vanilla.
like really, remove all the widgets from your home screen. what's different from stock android? the bart on the top is now black, and they added a phone button and a + button to add things to the desktop... 2.2 just added a phone button, and the + was there because let's face it, there are probably a great majority of android users out there that dont know you can long tap on the screen or hit menu. android really never makes it clear unless you find it on your own or read the manual (2.2 tells you how to do it now though). I'm not one to agree with WalkingTaco on most things, but he's right, sense makes things look better, and is really really more accessible to the general public.
and really? slows down the system? sure on 1.5 I disabled it most of the time, I was like you, I didnt really see the good in sense because of how slow it was at times, I replaced it with slide screen. but man... I went to leaked 2.1 and got over it. it's so fast and smooth, I honestly dont remember how bad it actually was on 1.5. then I replaced my phone and got root 2.1... even better, I love sense.
and really, I don't care about what most of sense does. my favorite parts? the favorites, clock, and friendstream widgets. facebook and twitter integration (before google ever added it!). more screens, and a dedicated phone button on the bottom. that's it. and I love it. now that the phone button is there in 2.2 and more screens have been added since 2.1, all I need are those beautiful widgets and I'll switch to vanilla android, till then, I love sense.
and really, all these people that are ..."boycotting" (in I guess some sense of the word) sense ui, do none of them know you can just disable sense and use stock android on the eris? without even flashing a rom. really. "OH NO! the status bar is still black instead of white! this simply wont do! boycott htc!" flash the white notification bar zip and get over yourselves. there: stock home on an eris.
I personally like sense UI as well. I think it adds a graphically pleasing environment. I love the Email widget they have as well as the clock. I have recently switched to tainted vanilla and I do realize the speed difference. EE 2.0.1 oc'd to 768 was getting 3.2~ MFLOPS but when switched to tainted vanilla I was getting 5.0-5.2~ oc'd to 768 with the Nexus live wallpaper. I would like the HTC clock and email widget in regular android lol.
So no I don't think they should get rid of it at all even with the decrease in speed, it just looks way nicer.
Id like to see an HTC vanilla version for the eris... How long would it take them to make one?
but really who else would use it but 10% of the users.
I don't believe HTC would ditch the Sense UI. It's part of the experience of buying an HTC device. And users have the ability to use the regular Android Home on their devices if they choose.

Agreed I have never been a fan of sense. I much prefer vanilla.

one good thing to look forward to of sense on 2.2 is a lot of what htc adds in to sense, is now built into android.
htc was the first with facebook integration into the contacts wit sense, and if you noticed, it slowed down the contacts/dialer/messaging a lot. in 2.1 facebook integration was built into android, and it worked flawlessly.
same thing now with flash support. htc's flash plaer was buggy yeah, but atleast we had it. I made a lot of droid/nexus friends jealous with my ability to play vimeo videos.
i think with 2.1 and ESPECIALLY 2.2 once it comes out, performance of sense is flawless. but if you dont like sense for just an aesthetic sense, yeah nothing's gonna change.
who knows? maybe HTC will give us full flash while 2.2 won't support it for our device? just a thought.
if sense is such a big problem with performance then DISABLE IT or download an app that disables it for you.
if you have no idea how to do either then obviously have no clue how to use the internet (google is your friend) or search the forums and therefore a smartphone may not be for you.
The Android OS and APPs available have no end to what you can do with the OS and Sense. Hell you can ROOT the d^mn device to do even more options to do whatever you pretty much want to do with it.
But to complain about how Sense does this or does that and we should do this and do that and tell google & htc this, that and WHO CARES!!!
we have devs hard @ work......working for free in most cases i mind you to help make our phones better. if you want something added/removed or anything for future use then toss some coin their way and i sure they'd be glad to put it first priority.

[Q] iOS like bounce back? Link provided

How can we get bounce back animations onto android? This link here has a great bounce back thing including a demo where you click on the ball, and I would love to see this in android. But I am not an expert so I wouldn't know how to start with something like this.
http://www.gizma.com/easing/
The guy even included little bits of code. I love android but 1 thing I hate is when you scroll up and down menus and it just abruptly stops. Same thing with browser. I liked the smooth bounce back in ios and windows phone 7. Think this is possible?
It's a feature in the Cyanogen Mod ROMs

Yea I know about that feature, but it feels very wrong. It bounces back super quick and it is nothing like the bounce back on SGSII or iphone, or windows phones.

Besides what was said, nothing else is available like that AFAIK. Don't think sense ROMs have that either.

[SOLVED] [Q] [NEWB] Pics of Desensed Rezound prease

Nevermind, I just bought the phone. Please lock this thread lol
===
Hey everyone,
I tried to ask a question in a thread but I don't have enough posts and I'm not going to spam posts so I made my own thread.
I'm about to buy a Rezound. I've been spoiled with Cyanogenmod on my OG Droid since Day 1. So, I'm definitely going to be using Clean-Tool or something similar to De-sense and remove bloat. If I read correctly, I just need to install my own launcher first, and then use that.
So the only thing that remains that looks like Sense is the lock screen, correct?
If yes, can I still have lock screen widgets and jump in to apps or not? That must rely on some Sense stuff, right?
Although, I did purchase ADW EX when it was on sale for .10 but the new dockbar confused me. As I am getting older, that change scared and confused me Really though, I just didn't want to take time to figure out until I have new phone.
So anyway, if Sense's lockscreen enhancements will no longer work, I guess I'll just use ADW EX to do lockscreen stuff if I want.
I just want confirmation of these questions I have. Googling desensed rezound on regular and image search didn't really pull anything up.

New tab headache...

I just picked up my tablet the other day. The one on display in Best Buy had blue icons on the bottom for the back, home, screenshot buttons, but when I got it home, they were grey. Doing some looking I learned the blue went away with the 3.2 update. I came here to see how to change them back, but I'm still not sure. I've seen thread about themes and ROMs that both have the icons I'm after. My question is, which am I after, a ROM or a theme? I'm already rooted so a ROM isn't a problem, I just don't wan to if I don't have to. I bought ADW Launcher Ex thinking it was in there from some of the threads I read, did I miss it?
A push in the right direction would be appreciated.

the ones in best buy don't have touchwiz on it...yours does.
this is stock honeycomb 3.1 with the blue buttons and all.

flash that in cwm recovery.
that will get you to best buy software.
I am not rooted ( and therefore dont have a rom on my tab) but I have browsed the dev section quite a bit and I am pretty sure ROMS is what you are looking for. The ROMS here are based off the vanilla stock AOSP which give you the blue icons ( which I assume are the buttons in this image here? http://ausdroid.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/p1030394.jpg )
If so then you would want to look at the roms exclusively as most themes, that themers make, change the buttons there to something different. So look at the screen pics that the ROM dev posted if they are there then you are more than likely good to go

I would suggest this method as probably the easiest.
by the way a ROM is a ROM.... a theme is made to dress up a ROM.

Thanks for the quick replies. I don't want to go backwards so I'll just play with what I have for now. Tomorrow I'll probably wind up playing with some ROMs just to see what's out there.
I would check out Task 14 Revamped for a ROM and in themes and apps I'd check out b00sted's themes. Both are very recent stable and very well supported. I have never used any of b00sted's themes but I know they are kept up to date and seem very active in his thread. I've looked at a few of the screen shots of his themes and I think you'll find what you're looking for. Plus they're made for Task 14.
You can always customize one that has what you really want to change wallpaper and such that may not be your taste.
Make sure you look around before choosing a ROM so you can make sure there is a theme already posted for the ROM and the theme meets your visual needs before anything else.
Best of luck.

Looks like b00sted's ICS theme has what I'm after. Thanks for the push. Unless you may have seen other theme's out there that have the same. His are the only ISC theme's I find...

Why do custom roms include CRT off effect?

This effect just looks so weird and ugly, my phone is not a CRT TV why would I want this effect on it? They theme our ICS to look like stock but they include this nasty effect why what is the appeal? To all custom rom makers please stop now and include it as an add-on but don't force this weirdo crap on us, thank you.
lol me neither liked it but you see more ppl like it, and as developers are working free for masses they will do what masses like.
there should be a fix for removing it though.
Use a rom which doesn't have it. Easy fixed. Anyone worried about 'cosmetics' like this should get an iPhone (and has too much time on their hands).
You can turn out it off with deluxe settings. It's included in every GB custom ROM.

I think it looks awesome. I don't know why you wouldn't want it! Sometimes when I'm bored I'll just just toggle my screen on and off just to look at it
By the looks of it - and from the comments above - I can only get to one conclusion about the CRT effect:
Taste like an arse: everybody has their own and think everybody else's stink.
