This will be of great help to many frequent "visitors" here looking for a bit of "newer" Apps & without questions, wanted to be able to (as option .... risking warranty, of course - LOL) run a stock but rooted ROM (to use Titanium Backup, Astro or ES File Manager, etc.)

[RECOVERY] S7 Clockworkmod Recovery Port for Android 2.1

This does not work on Android 2.2 builds in its current state
Calling this xauBeta so we can distinguish between versions. Tested with Bestbuy Huawei Ideos S7-104 White (external microSD and internal 8GB).
Tested on BestBuy S7-104 running the newer Singapore ROM S7V100R001C61B011, for Android 2.1.
This was not tested on a stock BestBuy ROM. I do not know if this will work properly on that firmware. Please report your findings.

Notes
This recovery image is functional enough for use.
If you have the dual-nand variant of the S7, you can still use the recovery image for the single-sd version. If you do so, installable update zip files will need to be placed on the external microSD instead of the internal nand. You also lose the ability to mount the internal nand to the computer via recovery.
What works: Nandroid works. USB mounts work (choose between internal and external mount hacked in for the dual-sd version). Flashing installable update zip files work. Fix permissions works.
This is still an ugly hack of a recovery image. Instead of waiting for developers, I threw this together so I can use it.
This recovery does not read the misc partition flags and boots into user mode every time. Hopefully this does not break too many things. It only displays only 50% of the screen, but it is still readable. It works for me, so I'm not going to touch the kernel framebuffer or whatever was causing the quad-screen craziness.
Buttons in this recovery image:
Up - vol +, dpad up
Down - vol -, dpad down, menu (cycles when menu reaches bottom)
Select - home, dpad select, power, send call
Back - end call, back
The weird color and the half-screen issues are known. No fixes are planned.
What hasn't been tested
Need someone to help figure out which would be the ideal way to deploy this. I typically fastboot. Will look into an easier method of deployment possibly in the future.
Not tested:
formatting external SD for apps2sd feature (under advanced)
format sdcard (not sure what this option does)
nandroid with apps2ext

You should be able to fix the graphical issues by building a kernel with the framebuffer forced to rgb565 (this is what worked for u8800).
EDIT: Nevermind.. just saw that there's a newer version from a different developer that fixes it, though using a different solution.

Put the leak on your external SD card.

NOTE: If someone posts a reply with a boot.img they patched, you can use that one as well. Only one person has to make one and post it.
Fastboot the system.img and preinstall.img from the latest official version

Oh! This I want!
woohooo... aqui voy!!!
After Rooting and installing this rom, it showed the CLARO logo, then started doing the "android is upgrading" counting the apps... but after that it froze on starting applications... don't know how to unfreeze it or restart it... There is no way to do a battery pull, so can anyone help????
I managed to reset it, and it booted, but...
No Sound and it drained the battery pretty fast...
Gonna do a Factory reset to reinstall all the apps to see if that resolves this...
You should definitely just do a factory reset, along with wiping your caches from Recovery. I wonder how many people complaining of ICS issues just never did a factory reset in fact...with such a huge OS change, there's no way I would trust it just "upgrading" what was installed. I just got my unlocked RAZR and went straight from fresh Gingerbread with nothing installed to this Claro ICS, and immediately upon booting I got force closes from Google's own apps. A factory reset along with wiping the caches fixed it up. Loving it so far, only really noticeable problem I've had is the widget selection screen having each widget's name whited out, but other than that, it's been stable and solid. Battery life has been pretty great as well, easily hit 15 hours of nearly non-stop screen usage to set everything back up before it said to plug in the charger. In regular usage I can see myself going 2-3 days.
The problem as I have stated in other threads is that the battery is not charging and it wont let me do a FR... Something went very fubar and stiil don't know how to fix it... and I'nm still reading... a lot...
Waiting for someone kind enough to give a try from the retail BR ICS version to move to this one and post instructions on how to.
Edit: After a lot of reading and getting scared a couple of times, patched my own boot.img
Download here
After updating I waited for the new system to boot and rebooted to recovery to master reset, works like a charm.
Thanks juanfers! Needed that file to upgrade from the Brazil leak!
Update...
I managed to make it charge, but still I notice the battery goes very fast... I saw that there is a script for taht or something. Can anyone point me to the correct download?
Honestly, i don't know why you guys didn't use the LATAM Retail version, is the best rom for our phones, and is not full of all the claro crap
Does anyone know when ics ota is coming to Puerto Rico for our razr

Tutorial - Rooting Mi 5 without wiping data

Dear All,
WARNING: I'm no developer, just a regular user. SO PLEASE ONLY TRY THE BELOW PROCEDURE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I'm not responsible if you end up with a device that doesn't work the way it is originally meant to.
Recently I decided to root my Mi 5 running Global Dev ROM (Version: 6.5.30 (MIUI7)).
Read a few threads.
Mainly (link A): http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=260976
Then I posted a Q&A thread: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod ... 0&page=1#pid5799160
I noticed that according to link A, we needed to wipe data to root successfully.
Here's what I did:
1. Unlock BootLoader via Xiaomi Official Method. - Important Step
2. Temporarily flash TWRP (link mentioned in link A) [fastboot boot *recoveryname*.img].
3. Selecetd English as the language.
4. Left the System partition unmodified when promted (Keep Read Only).
5. Mounted System + Cache.
6. Enabled ADB sideload.
7. SIdeloaded the superSU file (link mentioned in link A).
8. Rebooted device.
9. SuperSU was installed.
10. To check this I tried out SElinuxmodechanger + V4A (use apps with Root access at your own risk and evaluation of safe / unsafe nature of the app/apps).

}
Conclusion: I was able to root my Mi 5 (Global Dev Rom) without permanent flashing of TWRP + without modification to system partition (Keep Read Only)) + without wiping data in TWRP before installing SuperSU.
Hey, great tutorial, but after, the OTA update will work and / or remove root ?
Is the sideload necessary ? Can't the SuperSU file be stored in an internal folder beforehand ?
@hmnk: can you please post links for SElinuxmodechanger and V4A? Thanks.

Sideload was necessary at the time of the tutorial being posted as the MIUI version / TWRP didn't allow data partition to be mounted without formatting it. Hence, the flashable zips had to be sideloaded.
However, currently, I'm on MIUI Version: V8.0.2.0.MAAMIDG (MIUI8) and twrp-3.0.2-0-gemini, this combination allows data partition to be mounted without formatting it.

Personally tested myself on Mi5 Pro and it works with MIUI Version: V8.0.2.0.MAAMIDG (MIUI8) and twrp-3.0.2-0-gemini.
Huge huge thanks!
Thanks very much for this worked a treat. I'm on 6.10.13 Global, used ZCX-TWRP and SuperSU v2.76. No problems at all.
Many thanks for your guide. I'll try it on the next update
This has been working well for me, thank you. Now I'm wondering if the same method could be used to install things like Xposed without flashing TWRP too. Has anyone tried it? I'm scared. ::laugh:
thanks
Bootloop
Tried this over MIUI Global BETA 7.4.27 (Mi5) and got a bootloop
I've downloaded the required files and TWRP 3.0.2.0 and SuperSU 2.76
Thanks, it worked!
I just tested this on the MI5s Plus and it works on that phone as well.

Nubia Z18 mini (NX611J) root, recovery and GApps

No one posted this here yet, so here it is.
The tools are from YouLinw233 on Weibo.
Download the tools:
https://mega.nz/#!yRQXFajL!1HLVZ6qOwVVyFXPmVvUHtkF_N3Tm_BgssbmW473uLuM
Download Magisk, Magisk Manager and Open GApps (ARM64, Android 8.1, I got an error when trying to flash the full package so get the stock one), install Magisk Manager and copy everything else on your phone.
Enable "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging", connect the phone to your PC and run glass.bat, you should see a menu.
First press 1 to install the drivers, then press 2. The phone will reboot in fastboot mode and flash the recovery.
Now on your phone select "Reboot into recovery mode" with the volume buttons and press the power button to confirm.
TWRP should boot, from here you can flash Magisk and GApps.
If pressing 2 doesn't work try to unplug your phone, boot it in fastboot mode by pressing volume down while it turns on, connect it again and press 3 on the menu.
Another guide I found useful before this post:
https://www.chinahandys.net/en/nubia-z18-mini-install-google-playstore-not-reliable/
Nubia Z18 mini (NX611J) would deserve its own threat. The bootlocker is not locked (unlike many other Asian brands), and there is working TWRP 3.2.1 for it.
Updates are available:
http://ui.nubia.cn/rom/detail/52
It is a brilliant phone, with awesome camera. Installing google playstore, root are all easy and everything works well.

Ok so I found the Problem... I just had to reinstall the drivers from scratch one more time and then use the ./fastboot.exe from your download or this: https://www.androidbrick.com/download/nubia-z18-mini-nx611j-twrp-root/ and it finally worked

There's no password, maybe it's asking you for the Mega encryption key, but it's already in the URL, try to copy and paste it in the browser.

Official rom Z18 mini
Hi!
Can you confirm that these official roms from china have English language and work in Europe? Will Snapchat and so on work on this rom? I got a phone with preinstalled Gapps and Snapchat do not work and the rom is a bit slow. Maybe these updatet roms will work better? It is a nice phone but the firmware does a bad job.
Please any one can confirm is dual 4G works simultaneously? Please??
V 2.33 ROM, it can flashed with twrp and include English.

Flashed gapps open_gapps-arm64-8.1-pico-20190516.zip (or nano, doesn't matter).
