that is because your phone is a prototype, you can only flash it with the flash tool using a ftf file, that works without problems.

so that means i can't unlock the bootloader and do things the way i want?
what flash do i use? kinda new to this

I also have a brown phone. And it have bootloader already unlocked (maybe they don't implement locked bootloader for the brown phone). I have tried flash FXP 024 successfully.

can someone tell me wgat a brown phone is? i have heard that s few times. some kind if prototype? how can it be that prototypes are sold?

BLUE phones have been assembled in the factory but never programmed with software/ GDFS/ IMEI – it means they are in their „factory state“
BROWN phones are "developer phones", used for testing. Less restrictions are present as these are used for "debugging/beta" purposes.
RED phones are your typical retail ones. Highest level of security is present in this state of phone, it‘s usually not possible to write into OTP (one time programmable memory) in this state.
Brown phone usually sell for very cheap price, without box and warranty. It's usually give to tester for them to write overview for the phone before it release.

thank you very much for that great awnser

Read this thread how to flash custom ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205141

i just want stock with a kernel with iptables for working purpose... there a way to just get that?

u can try sending it to ur carrier and tell them you cannot update the phone
and they have to send it to service and update there (same thing as my miss's sgs)

Sometimes the bootloader can not be unlocked using Sony's method you need to use an alternative method.
Also I never heard of these brown phones? Sound interesting.

Third party bootloader unlock good news.

Hey I along with others are waiting for bootloader unlock for third party sim unlocked phones. I was wondering if anybody unlocked their bootloader anyway and had any luck. By third party I don't mean you received imei code from a different company I mean you had to plug in your phone to your computer when unlocking.
EDIT: I have contaced Multi-Unlock-Client and they said they are working on getting the bootloader unlock to us and it will be here soon: 1-2 weeks.
YEAH.

I got mine factory unlocked,
If u unlocked phone by omnius or other and then u reunlock using setool2 doesn't help??
U can try that and see if it passes the certifacte test...
Do u know where can i find setool2
And what is the unlocking procedure?
My friend wants to know...

I heard that if you reunlock with setool2 then all will be okay and you can unlock bootloader. BUT I have not freaking idea how to use setool2 or how to get it or how to pay for it...it boggles my mind why they use credits instead of real currency and I don't know if you need se toolbox or whatever.
I prefer not to pay for unlocking sim TWICE.

Here you go...
https://rs107dt.rapidshare.com/#!do...l2lite1.11www.se-tuning.net.rar|68890|R~0|0|0
if you get "not recognized simlock certificate", you have 3 ways:
1.
go to nearest service center and ask to unlock your phone with setool2.
almost all 3rd-party service centers have setool2 equipment and can help you.
cost can't be less than 15$ and upper limit depend of service center greed ( mostly they are GREEDY guys )
2.
wait, until lead ( omnibus developer ) will integrate semcboot unlock in omnibus software.
if you used omnibus to unlock your phone, it can be even free for you.
if not - price will depend of lead's greed ( and he is EXTREMLY GREEDY guy )
3.
wait, until tool author, which wrote tool you used to unlock your phone, integrate
semcboot unlock in own tool.
ps.
all that other 3rd-pary unlock tool authors need to do -
- sniff my patched s1boot
- replace S1_SL_Root_xxxx with own
- proudly release new version with words "world first user friendly REAL TRUE TOTALLY SAFE ULTIMATE bootloader unlock blablablablabla"
Thank you for the information...its actually very helpful. I did not get mine unlocked from omnius, i got it unlocked from multi unlock client...so hopefully that person knows about this and will integrate it soon.
Thank you again the_laser for taking your time to read my post. And of course bootloader unlock.
I contacted the company JIC technology the maker of multi unlock client...and hopefully they will get back to me soon.
I have receieved an email from a JiC technology..the makers of the multi unlock client software...so if any of you ahve used that to sim unlock your phones a bootloader unlock provided by them will be published in the next 2 weeks.
SWEET.
Waiting ..
I'm on the same boat ..... Its been a week now of I think It won't be long now , do anybody know where lease can I check for the updates on the multi unlock client ?

I Opened a case with JIC Tech to ask for the bootloader unlock and they just closed it with no reply .
They have released V52.00 of the Multi unlock client and there is no reference to the X10 bootloader unlock .
I guess I we should have used the IMEI method ... ;(
Just a thought. Maybe, with the new version out, someone could flash back to stock 2.1, re-run the unlock, then run the s1tool to see if it's now compatible. I can't try it for a few days, but it might be worth a shot.
E.T.A.: This is for those of us who used the Multi Unlock Client.
I said weeks ago that I have Omnius unlocked bootloader and I can give it in PM.

3 - tried to unlock bootloader with the semc file (Bad Idea)
4 - Lost Signal ....
5 - Flashed stock kernel.
6 - Re-Locked the bootloader .
7 - Flashed stock ROM
8 - Rooted
9 - Unlocked Again , Now with Omnius (sorry nothing else handy)
10 - SIGNAL BACK !!!
11 - Waiting for almighty Blagus to send me the bootloader unlock instructions.
I hope this can help someone who has lost the signal

Can you check your PM as the bootloader unlocking does not work for me.
All the info should be in your PM box.

I wonder if i am doing something wrong.
Has anyone got a "how to" guide for people who unlocked their phone with "omnius" software ?
Thanks.

[Q] Xperia Mini Pro Questions

Hello
Just purchased a SK17i Xperia Mini Pro Black Version that is locked to 02 (UK network). I am obvously new to all this stuff but do have a basic understanding but here are some questions:
1) I am thinking of waiting until Android 4.0 is Officially released by SE to update my phone (btw, anyone know when the update is coming). Was wondering when I update will I still be able to root my phone?
2) When I root (if I can) I want to install Set CPU to overclock my phone. However I have heard this drains batteries? Is this true and if so how can I make my phone faster?
3) I need to unlock my phone. Can this be done for free after rooting? If not, can someone link me to the cheapest place I can get this unlocked from?
Thanks in advance to anyone that answers
Hey dude,welcome to XMP family.
1)According to Xperia Blog,XMP will get the ICS update in the end of May or early June, after the first wave for arcS,neoV and ray.I don't know whether we can root it on official ICS or not,but I think to get a rooted phone is easy once you unlock the bootloader, and besides, there are so many developers here.
2)When it comes to overclocking, apparently it would cause battery drain faster. But with my experience,I hardly feel its difference on SE stock Rom.As for custom rom like FXP's,which I has used for a while,it drains about 2~3% per hour while idle(drop speed is two times than stock.)
3)Certainly you can unlock your phone for free, see this thread & tutorial. But it should be noticed that once you unlock it then you may invalidate your warranty.
Mine is on FXP CM9(ICS) and it's kind of laggy, but I can't tell it's because of the ICS rom or existed bugs.As SE said,we may not have the same experience like Gingerbread if we update to ICS.

Hello mate, thanks for the great post
I think I will leave stock ROM once updated actually, seems to be running fine atm as it is.
I think I will still update to the official ICS when it comes out as does look worth it.
Just about no. 3) I think your talking about after rooting, the process to get custom ROMs by unlocking the bootloader? I was talking about the network? lol
Unless I'm mistaken?
Thanks again

There is no way to get your phone unlocked from a network for free but WontanServer offers an unlocking for $15. You can try that out. Just type WontanServer in Google and click the 1st link. WontanServer is legit and won't steal your money
Though as a warning you might not be able to update to ICS as it also might unlock your bootloader. Just double check, as I am not 100% sure. Also it will void your warranty

good thing in the sense? If you don't bother about warranty then you can try custom ROM ics.but the problem is some bugs are not fixed by developers they will take time.main bug is camera not working..i am using ics so just check k? Good luck

He meant that the Wotanserver network-unlock method might unlock your bootloader (which it does). This bootloader unlock, whilst giving you access to custom ROMs etc, might not behave with official SONY updates (such as ICS) - I'd link you for proof but I'm not allowed to due to my low post count .
Also, Google 'Omnius Unlock'. They will unlock your phone for free over the next few days (Easter promotion). I'm not sure how reputable those guys are though so you'll want to check.
Thanks for that Omnius Lock thing, looks great and will check it out
So, if I unlock it I may be unable to upgrade to 4.0? That is a bit stupid to say the least? Anyone on an Xperia that was unlocked then ugraded to 4.0? Did it become locked again?

If your phone's bootloader is unlocked you can not recieve any official update through Sony as it will brick your phone but you can install a ICS ROM.

Well I'm not sure about 'stupid', you'll have to weigh it up. If you look in the development section, there's already a very useable version of ICS (look for MiniCMSanwich), which is potentially better than Sony's bloatware-infused and themed version (not to mention probably unrootable) due in a couple of months.
I think it's mainly FOTA bricks that happen (over-the air updating from Sony), and some bootloader unlocks allow for this by just patching the bootloader to make it seem unlocked (any SETool unlock will do this). So there are a number of options.
Be careful also of some bootloader methods stripping the DRM keys, these are used by Sony services like TrackID, which will cease to work (permanently) following a bootloader unlock.
Edit: There's a distinct difference between a network unlock and a bootloader unlock, the former will nearly always also execute the latter, but the latter can be done by itself (obviously only on unbranded phones). The method of getting a custom ROM is basically network unlock > bootloader unlock > root > install custom kernel > install custom ROM. Root can be done before the unlocks, I believe.
I'm new to all this too, only trying to explain because I know how much of a total pain it was to work it all out .

So if I do unlock through the Wotanserver place, my bootloader will be unlocked but I wouldn't be able to get official ICS, but a just as good if not better copy? It is the same unlock method, just everything brought to one place by that app maker.
Rooting your phone before custom ROM installation is not needed, because old ROM(stock) gets deleted anyway and custom ROMs include root already.

Unlock bootloader allowed: No -> Yes?

Hi!
I haven't seen a way to change the status from "bootloader unlock allowed: NO" to YES, but in a forum I read that some guys managed to reach an agreement with sony. If we send the simlock unlock codes they will allow the bootloader unlock.
Here's the OT

Do you know something about this?

I still find hard to believe no one can "break this code"...
I would certainly donate to some Dev to crack this problem for good. If it can be done by CSCA Server than is just some service mode and software changes.
That or find some loophole to flash kernels into the phone, security blocks for that are so hard or complex that no one can break them ?!

[Q] unlock bootloader allowed "NO"

Hi guys,
as title above suggests, after doing the *#*#7378423#*#* trick, my SXS says bootloader unlock is not allowed.
Is anyone aware of any exploits to make this possible. Yes I know ICS is coming out soon, but as I am on Orange UK they will hold it back until they have added all their bloatware, which I want shot of
Cheers for looking, and for helping
With any luck there will be a hardware method to unlock the bootloader on these like there was on the 2011 range. But currently I don't think anyone has figured it out yet. Certainly don't envy you waiting for Orange to roll out the update with all their junk installed.
There's no rooting method for GB nor for ICS as of now.
if you want ICS, use flashtool and flash any of the available firmwares to your phone (generic one), then you don't have to wait and you'll only get Sony's bloatware, some of them can be removed without rooting. If you flash the original images, you don't have to have root or unlocked bootloader, it works just fine.
Right...
I had the exact same issue as you...
The phone is from CPW so not a phone direct from orange but the Bootloader unlockable status was set to 'No'
I then flashed from GB .67 to .73 and it had somehow changed the bootloader status to 'Yes' and I was able to unlock it...
The phone was rooted the same day and now on ICS rooted too!
Here is the (albeit vague) thread on the subject...

thanks man I'll have a look. Have this really annoying issue, I'm on .75 so will need to flash back to .73 to see if it works.
DAMN I HATE ORANGE UK for doing this! Why? You buy a phone, yet don't get the full functionality out of it you want when they mess about with it

On Spain last may we bought lot of Xperia U from the same carrier, all of them with locked BL, somehow we managed to complain about it and the solution they gave us was first you need the phone with simlock removed, so you can use the phone with any company, after that the SAT from sony will get the phone for about a week, you have to send it, they take care of the fees and they unlock the bootloader.
Make sure your phone is simlock free, and try to contact sony about allow the BL
enable fastboot with jinx
go to phoneunlockserver.com and talk to jinx and he can sim unlock it and enable fastboot so you can unlock the bootloader with official way.
no test point need, just normal usb cable and pressing one button.
"It's Here
Ok, anyone wanting sim unlock for the newer xperia's
Xperia S etc etc it is here for a limited time and afraid to say expensive.
This also includes phones produced after 12w14"
"Cost
The cost for this is at the current moment is £35.00 GBP This will be going up soon I hear. The reason for this is it takes 10 credits for the process"
"Sim and Fastboot
This unlock is for sim unlock and fastboot enabled. Customers can then unlock the bootloader the official way.
I do not know how long this will be up for and it is up between 8am - 8pm GMT+8 time zone"
I'm just waiting for ics to come out for my Xperia U and then i think i'm gonna do it with jinx.
it is right
Anyone has already test this methode?
As far as I'm aware SIM unlock doesn't enable you to unlock the bootloader.....

it's not only sim unlock, you are paing for both things: sim unlock and fastboot activation.
and then, with fastboot active you can go to sony site a get the code to unlock it (via fastboot)
jinx is send me a message that the servers are offline for unknown time, he was going to unlock my phone today, where can i check when is available????
I'm in the same situation! please jinx13 contact for more details !

Hmmm....did you guys pay for this service already without promise of results?
The whole process and such seems a little shady to me...I would have just waited til an exploit was found instead of coughing up 35 pounds on a whim.

Sorry if this us a mistake, but with Flashtool 0.8.6.0 you can unlock the BL using Flashmode also for not allowed phones.

Yes but when we contacted the SAT from Sony to remove the "unlock bootloader not allowed" from Xperia U/S they told us that we need to send the phone with simlock unlocked, they had no way to check if the phone have some permanence with the carrier beside simlock unlocked.

with this you don't send the phone to sony. it will allow you to enter fastboot and unlock the bootloader using sony website.

Help? Dumbass Bricked Z2

So yeah I just bricked my Z2 and I have no idea how to fix it.
Just to tell you what I did. My phone Z2, EE carrier, D6503 V 17.1.A.2.69
I wanted to update to 402 but I have never done updates before and had no idea what to do. So me being a dumb ass downloaded the Kernel D6503 17.1.1.A.0.402 and flashed this to my phone using flashtool, flashmode. Obviously this isn't how to update a kernel :good: So Now my phone is bricked. When i boot the phone up I get the sony logo but after that the screen is blank and I can't do anything.
My pc still recognises my phone but I cant reinstall from Sony as it says I already have the latest update. I tried using flashtool to reflash 17.1.A.2.69 but it gets stuck at reading device information. So is there any way to save it?
my bootloader is locked so dunno why I was trying in the first place

You should be able to reflash the .69. Try turning off the phone hard by pressing the power and volume up (I think, maybe it's down) button for three seconds, the phone should vibrate 3 times and then turn off. Now wait a minute or so then try to reflash the .69 firmware in flashtool. You may want to reset your computer too just to be sure.
Good luck.
Flash it again with stock firmware , first restart your computer ( unplug any usb cable ), try to get into download mode ( follow these steps ) And get the .69 ( build firmware ) then flash it with it and voila :fingers-crossed:
PC restart seems to have done the job, thanks guys!
Is there anything I can actually do with my Z2 with bootloader unlock allowed: no?

No, if your bootloader comes locked then there is nothing you or anyone can do to unlock it. Your only option is to sell it and buy a factory direct version if you want root access (for now).

Hopefully in time a developer will find a Sony KitKat exploit to gain root access, but for now I haven't heard of anyone working on this. Hold tight, you never know :good:

hah i would but the amount of licencing, government crap and many other things including security would make it imposible
hence why %80 of the internet is illegal
and about root, android 4.4.2 has literely 0 exploits, there are ways to root without a unlocked bootloader which i may just post but i need to work on it some more and test some more

well from what i know sammobile doesent have much issues when it comes to licencing blah blah etc etc due to the country they are in
and they probably advertised right
aswell as market research, business method research
and not to mention samsung users at least in japan, england and france to my knowlage often buy accessories for their phone more so than that of a sony owner
ive found xperia owners commonly dont even buy as much accessories for their phones as HTC owners even
probably all factors combined it has made them successful at sammobile
(also a few hundred factors i didnt mention)
