Why?
I tested Mike Gapinski ROM. It's fine. Why you think SwiftDroid works better?

Mike's rom is awesome beside the lag otherwise i would say it is fast and smooth, angrybird runs smoothly aswell
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App

PcFighter's aosp 2.2.2 is very smooth and stabil

MuR4ik's Rom is awesome, but the best roms are the ones based in official 2.1, I think!

If you prefer performance and battery life over everything then Mike's AOSP is your choice

Aosp 2.2.7 froyo Pcfighter - very good and fast rom,and AOSP ;D

wrong thread, post in Q&A

currently im' using SwiftDroid 2.0 RC5, firstly upon fastbooting, i clean out system apps, remove a whole bunch of them like DSP, Picotts, tts, stock launcher, stock keyboard, all live wallpaers, live wallpaprer picker, gmail, talk, maps, news and weather widget, spare parts, dve tols, quick settings, gallery 3d, home screen tips, one time init, and more, can't remember what
system rom is 157mb and 44.6 is empty
i install smart keyboard, cause it has internal calibration, and rom itself is very miscalibrated, and with my big fingers, i just cant write an SMS, i add launcherpro dropbox quickpicgallery and facebook messenger(Not the app, only messenger app
after that i apply touch wizz theme, icon pack suave hd and last V6 Supercharger --> IMHO the most important, NEVER EVER ran out of memory or had a launcher redraw
never had smoother rom than this.
only thing that can drive me away from this is ICS in some stabil build.
ONLY thing missing is that freakin calibration.

Utopia is the best and very stable rom for me. Try, you will not regret it.

A little bump, I don't know if I should have opened a new topic or not but I hope you can forgive me.
I am very happy with my Optimus but the phone started to show wrong battery stats a while ago and I finally decided to fix that but I need some advice.
The details:
Code:
Version 2.2.1
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected]
Mod version: OpenSwift/CyanogenMod-6.1.1
Everything was fine for 1.5 years, my battery lasted for 7-10 days (I only use my phone for sms/calls/listening to music/occasional Internet and Google maps search/. But for a few months now, the battery stats are wrong all the way, I charge my phone fully and after few minutes it is on 80% percent but I know that this is wrong because my battery lasts as usual. Sometimes it says 15% or less ("please connect your charger") and shuts down my phone, but after a while, I turn it back on and the phone lasts for several more hours without charging. This is really annoying because one time, I had to make an urgent call, my phone shut down and later I turned it on and the battery lasted a long time without the need to recharge so this is basically a software issue if I recall correctly.
I have two questions:
Should I use an android app to recalibrate my battery or is there a better, manual way to do it?
Should I change to another ROM? I want the ROM which gives me the most battery life but I also want root access e.g. without any restrictions. I saw that the Utopia ROM is suggested but it says:
Does not work:

I agree, Iridium ROM is sweet - fast and since I like purple it's ALLLL GOOOD
I do have have a couple of ROMs in my signature (Just finished Green Android) which does run fast

Ummm... I don't think so - there is different screen resolution for a start which would probably cause issues with the replacement files fir JIT.
I haven't tried as I haven't got one but if you are famulier with SEUS and feeling brave then give it a try!!!
BTW: I am not responsible if this is put onto an X8 since it hasn't been tested!
I'm currently switching between Manny's Xtreme Theme and Shiv's Gingerbread Nexus S edition, they are both really nice looking themes.
(I think Gingerbread is a bit more stable/quicker, and has a nicer battery icon in the notification bar, it also has a cool little android in the pull down notification menu.. its the little details)
but Manny's Xtreme theme has really beautiful Application Menu's (like in launcher pro when you press the menu button you get the box at the bottom and all the icons are colored and look really sweet.. )
yes, Iridium Rom is fast.. (but for your average user not really that functional, as it is too customised to one user's taste.. once you start installing your own widgets, home launcher, and apps its becomes just as slow as any other Rom. (I have tested this with Linepack and Quadrant)
This is just my personal opinion and of course everyone has their own taste's the only way you can get a Rom/theme perfect for you is to either make it yourself or combine several existing ones and take what you like from each (which is what I might do with Gingerbread and Xtreme because I really cant decide which little features I can live without)
Good luck.. and have a play, with xRecovery its so easy to switch and swap (just make a backup in xRecovrey first so you can always revert)

Hmm,
after ~50apps and several widgets, i still get 7600+ in linpack and 600 in quadrant.
Overall experience is still fast.
So what is your setup?

Hey D_d
I have switched back to Shiv's Gingerbread nexus S Theme at the moment.. but please don't take my comment the wrong way.. I'm just trying to point out its not just the Rom that effects speed.. its a combination of things.. the Home launcher, apps and widgets that are running too, I was getting quick Quadrant scores running your Rom, faster than other themes/roms (590's), but I didn't like the app drawer so I installed Launcher Pro, then Beautiful Widgets and a few other apps.. and after that the Quadrant scores had dropped into the 570's-580's and the speed was barely distinguishable from other Roms.. My SD card is only Class 4 so perhaps that effects my Quadrant scores running your rom with Apps2SD (I don't use Apps2SD on other Roms) anyway, I think your Rom is the most out there Rom, so different from anything else I have seen.. I didn't mean to offend, just wanted to say each to his own. Your Rom in its pure form is still faster than anything else
Sincerely
Kiwi

Hey!
I wasn't offended in any way, sorry if it sounded like that!
What i meant was, that i always look for ways to tweak things up, a liiiittle bit more so that's why i'm asking about setup and stuff.
I've installed many many applications and widgets and i still get the same speed and overall experience plus the quadrant and linpack scores.
To be honest, i still use iridium's launcher and probably it's simplicity makes him fast. Launcher Pro is a highly customizable launcher, but tends to make our phone laggy (try Zeam instead).
And some other piece of info:
App2SD plus the dalvik2SD mod can run properly (and fast), even on class 2 sdcards! (The only laggy part is during the installation of an app, probably +/- ~2seconds). So don't worry about lag with this script.
On the contrary, if you move your /data/data on ext3 partition, you will score more than 800 in quadrant but your phone will get so laggy that it will become unusable anymore (unless you have a class 10 sd)
PS: Purple is the new black. Once you go purple, you never go back, lol
Regards, D_d
@D_d
Sweet.. the last thing I want to do is offend anyone..
And thanks for the Apps2sd tips.. I have used that in the past.. but I find it causes a few issues every time my P.C mounts the ext3 partition on the phone... (I run Ubuntu and it seems to always mount both my phone SD partitions without me telling it to )
I'm waiting for a Froyo type Apps2sd where you can select what apps go where.
I use Launcher Pro Plus (mostly for the widget resize, LP widgets and scrolling dockbar) Zeam's dock bar is really screwy, no fixed scroll, you can only have one App drawer button on it and no custom dock backgrounds.. plus no widget resizing.. but then again.. I also drive an old Citroen so slower speeds obviously aren't an issue for me
I´d used MiniCM6 (great Froyo based ROM) and MiniCM7 (not so good as MiniCM6) for a long time. Now I´m using GingerDX (based on MiniCM7 and ported from Xperia X8 to X10mini) and I´m very happy, it is fast and very powerfull. Some bugs need external programs like Smart Caller ID (free on Android Market) for a correct caller identification (the screen cover the ID on original rom).
[]s
I think that if you haven't got a rom yet, the best would be to wait for the official Clockworkmod team to make their official port of CM7 (they say it's coming up)
I personally use the awsome GinToniC SE by slades87, but i don't know if it works on mini (it's for pro)

You might like CM 6.1 3, stable enough for games without crashes!

never tried that one, I used Wolfbreaks http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945264 only changed to try out the new MIUI ROM, but is nowhere near stable enough for gaming, and you can't install some games. Wolfbreaks is fine for all you"ll need though

MIUI vs Other Roms

There are so many GB roms out there now. What's the difference between miui and say Simply Honey? I've only ever used that and Simply Stock. Is one better than the other as far as performance or is it more visual? Thanks!
Simply Stock 2.3.5 JVS w/ 1.2 Talon Kernel. Badass Rom \m/
Miui is mostly visual it is an overhaul of android ui its also fast but i multitasking menu is slow to start when playing games but it is cool also its smooth over all battery is avrage to bad 8-12 hrs in my experience an other gb roms is samsung roms on steriods an battery is great 12-20 for me froyo like 14-24 an its regular android with twiz on top of it an the browser is lag free on jvs an jvr roms an i prefer sammy gingerbread because its better over all
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If I may explain in a slightly less feverish run-on-sentencey way than Jason, MIUI is built from the ground up, while most other Gingerbread ROMs are based on leaked i9000 ROMs from Samsung.
MIUI has a unique launcher that does away with the app drawer, instead putting all apps on your home pages which are easily organized into folders of your choosing. It also has many special features you can't find in the leaked i9000 gingerbread ROMs. For instance, long pressing a toggle like wifi or bluetooth will open up its settings.
MIUI is also, in my experience, a much smoother experience than Froyo and even leaked Gingerbread. The launcher has no lag with only a mild overclock, and apps load quickly. Even the phone itself starts up quicker than with other ROMs.
The best part of MIUI is in the customization by way of theming. All those special lockscreens that require custom ROMs and flashing to use? MIUI allows for anywhere from single swipe to, I'm not kidding, 15 button lock screens simply by downloading them through the online theme collection. You can change your icons, status bar, lock screen and wallpaper, dialer, SMS, and more by simply downloading a theme online through MIUI, and can even mix and match various components to your liking. SMS from Blue Dado Black combined with an animated lockscreen from some indecipherable Chinese name and a font from the Evolver theme, and on and on.
That's just the tip of the iceberg. If you want to know more, read the MIUI threads in the Development section. For me, I can't imagine leaving the ROM without something catastrophic happening.
Thanks man!! I'm gonna give one a try tonight.
One quick question, if I have the gb bootloaders I need to Odin the froyo one right? Also need to be on stock 2.1 or .22

Yes, you'll need a Froyo bootloader. I just installed Lithium V2.1 MIUI and wow, it's super cool. I'm trying to figure out the lockscreens.
of all roms that I have tried Simply Stock 2.3.5 JVS w/ 1.2 Talon Kernel is one badass rom!!!!!!!!!!! it is super fast with 0 bugs or forced closes and I have no desire to switch it for any other "pretty rom"

I have never tried a jv(anything) Tom but I did try every froyo I could get my phone on and I did miui in early augustvand it was a constant flash back and forth from cm7 to that.
I have noticed occasionally lag while loading apps like cnet tv and games (using chainfire pro).
What was the last miui you tried? I must say l, miui as is really stable and still fast, lithium rocks in speed, stock is my face so far when the powermod is applied.
I could not justify staying off of froyo until now.
Miui launches apps fast but are they faster once loaded in Samsung base rom's?
Also it has been since august that I tried any cm7 nightlies since gr90, is it just me or has miui surpassed cm7 in stability with less maunual fixes?
One thing is that the speaker on off for people to hear me is still happening on every miui I try

this overview just for information on my problem i had this not mean something is better. all devs make great work and i thank you for it.
i just want help people who still have problem with something to look at what took me long time to find rom working best for me and maybe them.
excuse my english please. if some people have sugestion what need added please write in topic here.
Thanks for your post, for sure will make noob's lifes (like mine, lol) a lot easier.
The GinTonic SE is the best rom i have use. This Very Stable and Fast!
I use all this rom with ZombieKernel and for me, GinTonic is the best.
GinTonic Rocks!!! Especially with ZP Kernel
How long is battery life of GinTonic?
Both GingerDX 17 and Enyama:s last ROM Flame.E 0.2 (Beta) are all very good, Gintonic too, i tried them all with slade87:s kernel Zombie Panic 1.63.
So far my favourite is Eyamas Flame.E 0.2 (Beta), stable, fast and no fc.
But some phones seems to like different ROMS, så whats great for me is maybe not the best for you.... It is a strange world we live in

Nice comparison! try putting Advantages vs disadvantages of each ROM.. cause for some the definition of a "good stable ROM" varies.. advantages and disadvantages should help them....
Gintonic is not the only rom where whatsapp works. My whatsapp does not FC on any rom except gingerdx and roms based on gingerdx. I think all the roms have the positives and negatives and are all really well done and deserve a lot of credit however I still feel that the clean rom by pfonck and the old froyo roms such as sRom, froyobread and so on are all more stable with better battery life. I think however out of the new roms that Gintonic is slightly ahead, can't wait till it gets even better.
on wich roms multitouch is installed by default?
certainly gintonic!! it just rocks!
I tested fully both MiniCM7 and GinTonic,
from my own experiences both are equally capable, perhaps GinTonic is more accurate and has a bit more options.
As of current date both the roms are stable and bug free, it's just a matter of taste. MiniCM7 is now based on CMWRecovery 4 wich can be a great advantage but try every rom and find what suits you most since all of them are great (and we should be forever thankful for all the good devs out here pushing our phones to the best)
as of GingerDX I didn't play with it much, somehow didn't fell in love with it
my advice is to install and see what suits you, remember to back up your stuff and factory wipe!
I've used MiniCM7Pro before, it good for gaming but the battery is draining fast, I have to charge 2-3 a day. I currently use GinTonic without the kernel, but it's a bit slow for me, 2d games lagged a lot, even when I used Performance CPU governor, but I'm impressed on how it saves my battery now I only charge once a day.
Is there any way to make my phone run faster on Gintonic?
I've used V6 Supercharger and ended up stuck on the bootscreen.
can someone post here the latest overview about our x10 mini pro ROM's
I have i the last week tryed
GingerDX v21 and V21b by doixanh. Stable and works fine.
StornMix V2 by TheCuteCriminal. Nice mms works on this.
miniCM7 Pro by paul-xxx. I like it alot. Most power efficient of them all.
BUT there is one thing they all miss. Thats hardware keyboard language change support. It all whent into the fan after going from v17 to v21. Now mini rom manager dont work or install. Paul have it in the rom but it dont work.
Regarding most of the look and feel of the rom is due to the launcher. Wish one you use. I like ADW lancher but lancherPRO is nice to and the theme also have alot to do with how you like the phone so try around and find your favorite.

-2D and 3D performance is epic thats thanks to the modded EGL driver.
-No issues with rotate screen.

with no lags or burps.
As a matter as a fact i'm using comp-cache at 35%
I'm a heavy user "games and online forum browsing till the battery dies."

[Q] Should I stay or should I go?

Hey guys!
I'm using CM7 for a quite long time (2 months lol) and I noticed that the battery drains quite fast (doesn't last a day).
The ROM I'm using I've made, for myself, but it is pretty much the same of all barebones CM7 ROM, based on vo-1's. Deodexed and stuff.
I was thinking: would I get better battery life by using a stock ROM or not? The only thing that I really use in CM is Theme Chooser, (pretty much) all other things don't matter to me.
Also, there is some way to theme a stock ROM using as basis an CM7 theme?
Another thing that matters to me: CM7 is faster than stock, isn't it?
So, what should I do?
For me, battery life and performance is better on stock.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
From what I've tried cm roms are faster than stock (try playing games on both, cm plays them smoother).
Stock roms can be themed, just not as complete as cm roms, if you extract the png files in the cm apps (/res/drawable-mdpi) and replace them in stock apps you have themed your stock rom.
This takes a while, and if you change the png names or size of your stock png files you will get Fc and errors (like missing graphics on menus).
Just remember to backup original apps before modding.
There are no stock rom theme choosers.

Well, no matter what I decide, I need a quick option: what's the best Stock ROM? It needs to have Brazilian portuguese, I can't live only with Portugal portuguese. I guess that there isn't any European ROM that has this, right? I was thinking on that Indian firmware, S5830DDKQ8... Nice choice or not?

Try using Skynet kernel...I get about a day and something out of my cell with it, and make sure to use it with SetCpu.
I use the following profile:
Screen Off Min:320mhz Max: 320mhz
And for daily use I have:
Governor: Conservative
Min: 480mhz
Max 614mhz
