might help
First off you dont need kies running just installed on your laptop\computer its only there to facilitate usb connection so you can use odin to put new frmware on.
Try putting cfs rooted ki4 on first again to obtain root then try other customs (most come with rooted kernals) failing that im stumped
Oh aye dont whatever you do format your partitions in cwm or odin ull loose your bootloader and will need a jig thingy to get download mode again. I was gonna try it till i read that info sumwhere on xda lol glad i nevva.
Anyone feel free to correct first paragraph im sure its correct but.....?be missing abit or add e tra
Paragraph three sure is right lol
Aaaaa jus reread u post lol rotted umean rooted ooopps i english took word litrly lol skip para 2
Also if anyone can answer if you do reformat partiton and let it finish unlike the thread i read earlier today can you still access phone to put firmware back on aslong as you have backup efs exetra... through odin just asking might help motorsport too

This thread was posted in September 2011. I'd say you're a bit late to the party.

First thing in any Odin flashing guide is to install Kies for the driver and they uninstall it completelly! Odin and Kies don't like each other and one can make the other fail.
ive removed kies but still get fail i found the cause of my problems i had to put kernel update into bootloader in odin did that and phone woke up again alls working good again id still like to load that new firmware tho where do i put the firware to upload into pda or phone in odin? any help and id be really greatfull?
You need to select the file as PDA option to flash it. Check any of the tutorials about using Odin if you're still having problems.

I have both Odin and Kies installed and have never had any issues. In the past I used to kill the kies process form the task manager but nowadays I don't even bother.

Use Odin to flash speed mod kernel. Place it in the PDA and flash. You can download it from his thread here on xda. Just search Google.
Steps:
1. Download the kernel
2. Put phone in download mode (down volume, home and power)
3. Open Odin and click PDA and then find the speedmod kernel found here ( http://vln01.helochat.com/tourist/speedmod-kernel-s2-k2-21-Odin.tar )
4. Flash!!

View attachment ninphetamine-2.1.3-release.tar
just put that in pda in odin and flash
thats how i did it, its already rooted and has CWM then flash whatever rom or kernel you want if you want (that one's out dated now)
and the kernel the guy above said will be already rooted aswell so no need to use s2root

Hi, I'm pretty new to this too.
Just wondering, I used "GT-I9100_XWKI8_insecure.tar" to flash my Galaxy SII, then s2root. I get superuser, but I can't find CWM.
Can I use this kernel you guys posted as well? Or is it for his specific phone?
I'm really having problems getting CWM, and I'm scared of trying stuff before getting a backup.
So if installing that kernel installs CWM as well, and works for my model too, then I'm going for it.
Thanks.
hi, i have just recently got another galaxy s2 after nicely cracking the screen on my old one :S the stats are as follows
galaxy s2
4.0.3
i9100xxlps
3.0.1519100xwlp7sl340913
i downloaded and flashed the closes kernal which was xxlp6 (this was the closest) and now it seems stuck in the start up screen, odin flashes it successfully and it starts to reboot but all i have on screen is samsung galaxys11 with yellow triangle and it just hangs there and won't go any further, i followed the instructions to the letter so i don't know whats gone wrong, i found this thread and i have found and downloaded the speedmod kernal and tried to flash that over using odin, again it says successfull but will not go past the loading screen, please help i don't know what to do or what i could have possibly done wrong
thanks in advance, emma

Also, download the stock ROM required from either sammobile.com or using the PC version of CheckFus.

[Q] phone/triangle/computer after every root attempt, yet still connected to odin

Hey,
I'm fairly new to this, but I spend 3 hours last night looking for an awnser, so I hope this isn't a trivial question that has been answered already.
Basically I tried to root my kl4 (if I remember correctly) via odin, it took about 5 seconds and told me it was succesfull, yet my phone got into the phone-triangle-computer mode, I coulnd turn it off as long as either the usb or the battery was connected, there was no way to enter the download or recovery mode, but after a while I realized that odin still recognized it, even though my computer didn't, so I downloaded the XXLA1 firmware, opened it via odin and everything went back to normal.
I tried this with a bunch of different kernels, none of them worked.
Resetting wasn't a problem, but I'd really like to know what is going wrong and what can I do to fix this
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Every time I've heard of that screen being shown, it was a result of someone trying to flash an I9100 firmware to an I9100G, or vice versa.
It can be fixed by flashing the correct model's firmware to your phone.
Check the label under the battery. What does it say for model number?
Thats one of the things I checked first, I have a 9100G and I was only using 9100G-firmwares :/
I read a lot of threads regarding that screen, but I couldn't find this exact problem, but maybe I've searched at the wrong places^^

Well which I9100G firmwares were you trying? Were you also sticking to I9100G kernels? You said above "I tried this with a bunch of different kernels, none of them worked." Well, which kernels were you trying?
Also, FYI, the Computer - /!\ - PC screen is apparently a forced download, you should be able to flash from there.
I was trying a lucifr one, forgot which version, 3 or 4 different Superatmos versions and something from myGkernel, everyone with the same results, odin says after 5 seconds it succeded and I got that screen on my phone.
I already deleted the files I used, so I can't say for sure which versions they where.

yea
I already flashed back to the stock firmware after every kernel I tried, since my phone literally couldn't do anything, not even go into download or recovery mode, because as soon as some ki d of power source was attached it booted automatically in this phone-triangle-computer screen.
All I could do was plug the usb in, strangely odin recognized it and allowed me to flash the stock firmware, going back to the way it was before.
I'll add step for step what I did, maybe I made a mistake somewhere.
I started with downloading and installing the mobile drivers. After that I got the newest firmware via Kies, downloaded the newest 2.3.6 Superatmos kernel and started odin. I had to add the fileending to the kernel so the PDA-thing of odin would recognize it and clicked start.
Then it continued like I described before, I downloaded a stock firmware, not the newest but the XXLA1, because I thought more kernels would support that
, flasht it and repeated the process with different kernels, same outcome.

Please could you point me in the right direction??

Hiya guys
Ok I seem to have some issues with the new S3 I have, I originally posted here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749178&goto=newpost
But I have now found that after installing Samsung KIES the phone is not detected when it is plugged in, USB debuggin mode ticked or unticked makes no difference
I asked in the previous thread how to see if it had been rooted, as the phone is unlocked (originally T-Mobile UK) and my Tesco sim works, but then I tried installing the TRIANGLE AWAY app, and it says
"SUPERUSER IS NEEDED but could not acquire, Are you rooted??"
But when I boot into download mode, it says ODIN at the top, counts is 1 and then there is CUSTOM
So I dont know what the hell the previous person has done lol so i thought it might be easier to put it back to stock, and start all over again!
Please could someone point me in the right direction for doing all this, Im new to Android, iPhone user ever since day one, and I LOVE this phone, but I need to know where I am at with it, and it would be better to start from scratch im sure, so if someone could spare a few mins, it would be VERY Appreciated
Thanks guys
To flash back to stock go here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9300&r=-1#modelsa
Select the relevant firmware and flash via Odin. (If you've never used Odin a quick search on here will put you in the right direction).
If your wanting to reset your counter your going to need to root and use triangle away. Best to do this before flashing stock firmware

you would need to flash the original firmware back onto your phone to get it back to stock you can download the same from below link and flash it with odin.
Code:

This is the problem lol, I cant use it, the phones defo been flashed with something, due to the download screen on reboot saying ODIN and the count as 1,but Triangle wont run as it doesnt now look like its rooted, well not entirely lol
See what I mean?
Dunno where I am at!
Maybe if I tried rooting it properly, then using the guide to unroot it and put it back to standard, then start again?
Or if I root it properly, do you think that might sort it out?
Why the hell did you create a second topic?
Your seller obviously rooted it, unlocked it and half-heartedly flashed stock back.
So you're gonna have to root it again, following the descriptions in the 'General' section of the forum. (I recommend CF-Root since it's the most painless and straightforward solution)
Then you use the TriangleAway app.
Afterwards you flash back to Stock.

[Q] Galaxy S2 Black Screen - Possible brick

So here goes, I was planning to upgrade my sister's SGS2 to JB, which was a i9100 version.
So, i followed the steps on the official nightly thread of CM10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29280423
but once i did the first step, i thought just in case so i did it, the whole odin process was successful, odin had reset and everything, but right after the reboot the phone wouldn't boot. It would show the samsung logo first, and then the screen goes completely black. i tried going into both download and recovery mode, but failed, same results as the black screen is just there.
Needed some urgent help, do i need a USB jig to run it back on download mode? Googled many forums and threads about this issue and most require a USB jig or to send it back to Samsung. And i've would consider myself quite experienced on flashing roms (did it many times on my own SGS1), or in this case just upgrading from GB to JB, which pretty much requires flashing the rom from CWM, but took the just-in-case route and ended up with this. Really would appreciate the help asap, as my sister's going out of town back to her university this coming weekends after the holidays.
Thank you for you time, and would really appreciate the help.
Your mistake looks to me that youve tried to install ICS cwm when your on GB.
I think you should have upgraded to ICS before attempting any of that.
I would get a jig, then install 4.0.3 stock rom for your region etc via Odin and start again.
If that dont work, then maybe Jtag.
And next time, you should read the install instructions twice!

thanks man, because previously on my own i9000 i just upgraded to ICS straight away just flashing the zip file from CWM, oh my mistake i guess. Getting a jig asap! Thanks again!
Well hopefully a jig will fire it up and Odin will work.Once your at that point then post back here with your phone details and someone can advise which 4.0.3 firmware to get from sammobile.
In the meantime you can try charging up the battery/removing battery for a while......to see if it still wont enter download mode.
Also there may be a jig near you....theres a thread with peoples locations that have them.
