[Q] How to Download .apk - Motorola Droid X2

Is there an app that allows one to download .apk 's from File Sonic links? Thanks in advance.

I don't understand, like a dedicated file sonic app or something like download crutch so you wont get the content unsupported error?

I was having trouble with this on default browser, but I switched to Dolphin browser and have no problems.
EDIT: Also try making sure the option for installing unknown apps, just a thought

Some sites still won't work, I forgot which.

Firefox worked on something for me, in my case stock browser grabbed a .php file. so dif browsers may handle certain links differently.

Opera mobile is on my phone soley for websites like that. It's like the download toolkit.

Just drop the modified "bootanmation.zip" in /media from root. I'd recommend renaming the original first so you don't lose it.

Do you know where the downloads are located?
Sent from my Motorola Olympus
There's a few in the themes and Apps section. I'm using the honeycomb takeover its pretty sweet.

I mean in root explorer. I cannot find where the downloads are located.

It depends on what you're using to download them. Stock web browser is in /sdcard/download other browsers are /sdcard/"insert random browser name". If you're using Tapatalk its in /sdcard/Tapatalk download (or something). If it's the Xda app it's probably /sdcard/Xda or something similar.

I'm having the same problem and its driving me nuts. Even when I try using my PC to install remote it lists MANY apps are being incompatible when I know they are. The other day I uninstalled an app that I installed 2 days before, and like an hour later I wanted to reinstall it but it now says incompatible. Many other things that I know should be compatible is listed as not now, like QuickPic, and according to others Sixaxis. I've seen many more, too.
yep, same here
luckily I have good many apps in titanium back up or appsaver

Have you tried downloading and installing Mirren browser from the market? I think it's the same thing.

Almost positive. You might be able to find the .apk in forums .. im gonna check.

Ok. I originally mispelled it. Its actually Miren with one "r". It has recently been taken off the android market, but Snappzmarket still has it. If you're unfamiliar with it, Snappzmarket is an alternative android market and if you go to their site you'll have a link to download the snappz market app. Install it, register in-app, and search Mirren. Download it, enjoy it. I just tried it myself and can not only confirm that it works, but seems damn fast as well.

As far as the sms goes, I can only assume that you're familiar with Handcent?

COOL.
BTW I would have stayed on Miui if Browser fonts had "bolded" as they should have. On my install of Ace's Miui all browsers do not bold.
I found miren last night. It's a pretty good browser. I don't like handcent at all. I like go SMS much better. It's similar to the miui SMS.

Try another browser. ie boat or dolphin or opera you get the point

What type of files are you trying to open?
Try opera mobile.works great for me.

If you plan on sticking with the stock browser, download from the market an app called "download all files". Its free, no root required, and will solve file type incompatibility issues.
As others mentioned, a 3rd party browser would also do the trick.
Dolphin downloads anything and much better than stock app
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Possibly a dumb question, but are you having trouble downloading files or opening them? I ask because your OP doesn't say "when I TRY to download"
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I had this problem. When I would dl something, like a pic or pdf, it would say failed or not supported. I hard reset the phone and formatted internal and the sd card. Problem stopped.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
This should have been a no-brainer
For whatever reason I've avoided the alternate browsers thinking they surely wouldn't offer the ability to download the types files I wanted...I've been liberated in 3 minutes with the Dolphin browser.

Why can't I download anything in my browser?

It says unsupported and stops downloading... Can anyone tell me how to get it back working?

Default browser won't do it without a helper but I use maxthon browser and it does it with out the helper they have apks in the market if you say search zip downloader bit if you use a different browser it will work

Here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hwkrbbt.downloadall
Install that
Then just download normally from the browser
Will work just fine.
No need to get a different browser If you don't want to.
Small simple app, works like a plug in, as long as it's installed, you can download using your browser however you want.
Rom like eclipse comes with a different app for the same purpose (Download Crutch)
From my nexus tappin the talk
<edit post successful>

It could be due to something not being recognized correctly in the build.prop
Like build fingerprint
Or if you changed LCD density that is biggest cause of market compatability issues
