Damn...scary. and to think I've been trying to find a decent app capable of doing just that. Record certain calls. Anyone got any recommendations by the way?

It tough to say if there is a decent app out that can do that. Usually those apps only work well if you have them on speaker phone because the phones hardware is set up to not be able to record the other party directly, just what is coming out of your microphone.
One way to test is use the built in sound recorder app in the middle of a call. It does the exact same stuff as the call recorders.

Only way is using mic to record. Otherwise you need kernel support to record a phone call directly in android.

I'm not sure that it entirely correct, I'm pretty sure it is a hardware limitation that they put there for that reason, i could be completely wrong tho

Anyone know which System files would show signs of Any Hidden Spyware stuff?

BS, I wish there was an app that did this to all my calls automatically lol, that uploads remotely. (it'd be awesome as a future Google Voice feature)
Man I'd happily pay for an app like that.

at least a couple of times a week i will either answer a call or as soon as the person i am calling answers, a voice will say, "this call is now being recorded".
what the hell is up with that? its done it since i got the phone.

Either you or the other party has Google Voice & they pressed #4 on the dialer.
It makes that announcement (awkwardly loud) for legal purposes, since in some states/cities it's either: illegal to record without consent, at all or simply illegal to not inform them of the recording taking place.

Check this video out...
Anyone know where the Stealth mode files would be Located?

Interesting......
Seen a kernal somewhere that supported call recording... Somewhere in cdma development. And if you allow the permissions to mess with phone calls that is you being informed and agree to it, as seen when you download almost any app, just keep an eye out for the ones that say anything to do with phone calls,

[Q]:Can't use camera while on a phone call?

I tried to use the camera while on a phone call and the phone says I can't do it. Does anyone know a way around this or how to fix this?
anybody know?
Same if your battery is low. Not sure how to do a work-around, but I would imagine Cyanogens Rom would take care of it.
Curious.... pics while on the phone?

but yeah this is only the 2nd instance i have heard of this needed/wanted if there were more demand for this than it might come native... does the HTC/MOTO phones allow this? I have never tried before...
Oh yeah I was on a phone call the other day and wanted to show my friend something while still on the phone. I think this would be useful.
have you tried a 3rd party app out of the market? Its worth a shot...

Actually this came about because my buddies at work here all have Androids and we harass the pi$$ out of iphone users. Well one of the damn iphone guys found that their iphone can take pictures while connected on a call, and android can't.
I do actually see the usefulness of needing this though.

I cant believe this was left out of Android I have been able to do this with every phone I have had for the last 3 years. Both my HD 2 and Moto Q9h bot can do this.

I have a Moto Cliq and I'm able to use my camera and record video while in a phone call, but I cant remeber if I was able to before I rooted my phone so it might be a SU or a ROM ability.

(Q) What should I do with my eris

I'm about to downgrade but I still want to use it as a mobile device around the house but want it to be a little faster.I'm rooted and running okay but want better doped maybe deleteing some of the stuff I wont use because it wont have service.

im not going to lie dude you should just sell it while you can still get good money for it i sold mine for 145 which is about what i paid for it after tax and everything so i was pretty happy with that
+1 sell it =)
Agreed, just sell it.
I'd keep it. use as an MP3 player, wifi internet device, video game, PDA, flash drive, .......
Unless you have a similar, all rolled into one device already, The Eris, sans phone & g3, is still a very useful device.
I'm going to be giving mine to my four year old who really likes listening to her MP3s and watching videos on YouTube that involve singing kitties... LOL. February 10th can't come fast enough...
Install google voice and use it as a house phone\multi media device.

It still needs voice service with Google Voice, right? GV isn't VOIP, it just manages calls to all of your phone numbers. And if you activate on VZW, it'll require a data plan as well.

Keep it has a ton of developement still happening on it. it's an awesome back up phone, and, you can still use it around the house for almost anything including a phone via skype (etc) ... it's a great phone!

You can download and use the new sipdroid (option for new PBX linked to my google voice) and google voice for true voip with google voice. all incoming gv calls ring to sipdroid, all outgoing gv go through sipdroid when attached to wifi. no need to activate with vzw.

HELP! Keep getting phone calls from myself.

I keep getting phone calls from my own number. When I answer the phone nothing. I also occasionally get anonymous texts with no text or any other content. I am running trigger 2.6. Just curious if anyone has had similar problems or could offer any insight. Thank you
WTF?
Just ODIN back and start over... that sounds way crazy and not related to the rom. You may just have a bad app though.

Talk to your doctor and tell him the medication isn't working anymore and you need a stronger prescription.
The real question is:
if you called yourself, would you answer?!?!?!?

camera focus and shutter sound

is there a way to turn off the focus and shutter sound without rooting or turning my phone to silent? is there a setting anywhere?
anyone???
No. There are laws in the US against that. Rooting will allow you to modify that capability.
You took away my two suggestions which would have been to turn the volume down(doesn't require root) or delete the files responsible for those sounds (requires root).

My EVO Shift had the option.
You can turn the volume down on the EVO 4G LTE and it turns off the shutter sound.

Anyone have any links to news or government websites in regards to this subject?
You can turn off the camera sounds using tasker. Just set up a profile that automatically sets your phone to silent whenever you're using the camera, and turns sounds back on whenever you close it. No root required, and works like a charm.
The legality is different from state to state, but basically it comes down violation of privacy. Without the shutter sound there is no way to know if someone is taking a photo of you or not. But without rooting you don't have many options.

Bought it two years ago, and never regretted it. It's one of a handful of apps I've ever bought and it's solved so many of those "I wish I could get my phone to do this" problems, it's ridiculous.

I don't own the app yet, but I will agree with you that it's a powerhouse. I will learn how to use it and download one day when I'm feeling brave enough.

Forgot about this thread. Yes, the laws are different from state to state and they tried to pass a federal law in 2009. HR 414.

NFC Noise?

To be honest I'm not even sure it's a noise being produced by the NFC feature, but a post on Androidforums mentioned a noise similar to the one I'm experiencing and suggested it maybe due to the NFC feature of the S3.
Basically whenever I move my device up and down, or out of my pocket and place it on a desk or table, it makes a large "blip" like noise. It drives me absolutely mad, especially when attempting to use the device while golfing or bike riding, constantly blipping in my ear.
Can anyone else confirm this noise so I know I'm not crazy? Even better, could someone inform me how to disable this?
Thank you.

Disabled s-voice? Aww.. mess with it. If you tell it you want to die, it suggests talking to another. Say the word "******" and it chastises you. Ask it if it has a soul and it gets existential on you. There are other ways to mess with it. Have some fun.
