[Q] Nandroid backup with clockworkmod recovery in hot boot? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

In Xperia Neo atm there is only the clockworkmod recovery not installable ("hot boot mode" as b1nary said ,see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183465)...
So my question is this:when I start clockwork mod with fastboot,in this situation can I do a Nandroid backup or is impossible/not available in this rom version?

Good question, would like to find this out as well.

Bump on my thread,I hope for an answer... is trange this is a very important question... no one wanna make nandroid backup on neo??

U had succesfully done nandroid backup with the clockwork mod rom in hot boot mode?Or u have installed (in some way) the recovery?
Otherwise,to access the recovery u have to use fastboot or u can start the recovery from your phone itself?
I hope u have understood me!

Used backup/restore from CWM, and only the ROM was restored, not any of the setings or apps. Does Nandroid store the complete system state, so apps don't need to be reinstalled and widgets will remain on the homescreen? Is it possible to store your full lay-out from everything?
Spent like 2 hours making new custom widgets in Widgetsoid and SiMi clock today after reflashing...

[Q] Clockwork and recovery

2nd question in as many days...can you tell im new at this?
So I tried to get fancy and change keypad colors and bit off more than I could chew. My phone is messed up. I did however backup before I started playing with anything using Clockwork. The problem I am having is I have never actually restored a backup from the recovery menu. the only time I have done it was when I did it from the actual app. I can mount my phone in recovery (via USB-MS toggle) and see on the SD card that the backups I made are there...So how the heck do I load them up? Thanks in advance!
To use a backup using clockwork, go to the backup, restore in the recovery menu and click restore. it will then ask if you are sure, click yes and you should be good.

That is what I thought. however when I boot in recover and go to "Backup/Restore" my only options are...
-Nand backup
-Nand + ext backup
-Nand restore
-BART backup
-BART restore
..and none of those have my backup.
I was able to fix my problem though. i just flashed another rom, re-downloaded the app and installed my backup from there. I still cant figure out why I cant do it from recover =/ Oh well
You would go to nand restore, then there would be only one option with some letters and numbers so click that and your back up is there. The name will probably be a date unless you changed the name

That's probably Amon RA, which only puts and looks for Nands in one place, and Clockwork Mod puts them another.
To get into Clockwork Mod from Amon RA, use Amon RA to flash the file "update.zip", which ROM Manager put in the root of your SD card. This doesn't overwrite anything. This is what "loads" Clockwork Mod, now you can access the Clockwork Mod Nand backups. Cheers!

As far as I know, cwm backs up both user apps and system apps with their data so if u restore it from there, the old sytem apps and data might conflict with the new one...so I would advise against it.
Use cwm and completely restore ur old Rom, make a backup usng tb and then flash ur new Rom... Safest way!

I think that will make so much easier for me the fact of testing more ROMs on my cellphone, thanks you
You can simply backup your apps and data via TB and
After installing a new ROM just restore APP+DATA via TB... best way to sort and backup and restore apps individually

You could also use yaffey to extract anything from a CWM backup:

On some clockworkmod versions you can do an advanced restore and just choose data. Never tried it but maybe give it a shot

Not recommendable....if your phone is on different ROM before backup, restoring the backup data into different ROM will make your phone bootloop (really bad cases) or lost statusbar/setting and etc (light cases)....
since he already make a backup then TB is the best choices...

You Think????
FYI : Backup from CWM contains the whole pack of the previous ROM....when you choose to restore data only, it restore all data including User Apps Data and System Apps Data....when System Apps Data is restore into a different ROM, you bet it going to make your phone into bootloop....
you are welcome to try it if you don't believe me....

I was talking about the selective backup of nandroid backup from TB. Ofc in a CWM data restore all apps(system+user) get restored. Im well aware of that and I wont be trying that
Anyways i think this tool is the best option right now. So thanks iOneX for the info :good:
A bit late I guess..
Well, I come here six months later, but Google brought me here...
I guess you're already using Online Nandroid Backup combined with Nandroid Manager. Just two days ago I restored user apps+data with Nandroid Manager from a backup created through Online Nandroid Backup. Both apps from H3r3t1c are really useful, specially working together.
Aside of this advice (surely already not needed) I was looking after a script to restore those user apps+data from a backup. I wanna include that script in my list of zips-to-flash in ZipInstaller
I'd appreciate any help. Cheers.

[Q] S3 Gt-I9305 & Titanium Pro

Can anyone advice me on what can be done if anything?. I have a S3 LTE Gt-I9305 I installed Titanium Pro and CWM. Did back ups on both and then decided to only keep CWM and promply went on to flash my ROM. It looks like the Ripper ROM has loaded but the touch screen won’t work visually it works fine but to unlock the screen, nothing happens. What could be the cause?. Secondly is there any way to re install titanium back on the phone as I have titanium backup files and hope that will restore the phone back to normal. Any advice???.
CWM & Titanium Back backups are two different things. CWM does a nandroid backup which includes your complete phone setup at the time of backing up. Titanium only backs up apps (user & system) & data.
Hence if you want to return to your old phone's setup you have to use your CWM backup.
Maybe read some of the guides in the FAQ thread to get up to speed on flashing, backups etc. first before you move on!

Thanks!. I know they two different thngs, hence me asking if there is any way of restoring Titanium back onto the phone, as I think the reason the touch screen on my phone may not be working because there could be a system file missing which CWM has not backed up. And CWM won't restore Titanium files or not that I am aware of.

Sure you can restore from Titanium, but I guess a safer bet in your case would be to do a factory wipe and flash a stock ROM. Easier and cleaner way as CWM usually backups any file, would be strange if it misses a few.
anyone know how to restore just the SMS data history from Nandroid backup?

Mmm.... Thats the problem I have done a factroy wipe and flashed a stock ROM didn't seem to help. Not even too sure i might have even accsedentally deleted a file from the phone when it was connected to my pc. and without the screen working I don't know that I can re load Titanium as the screen touch pad won't work.

even if you deleted a file, you should be able to flash a stock ROM via Odin in Download Mode (as far as the hardware buttons still work).
If you really flashed a stock ROM already, you could still try to flash your nandroid via CWM (should also support navigation via hardware buttons or not?), and if this doesn't work I am out of options :-/

[Q] Unfreeze/Defrost without Titanium Backup

Hi there!
Using SGS 2, Rootet, CWM-based Recovery 6.0.3.1, AOKP-Rom patched with OpenPDroid
I was experiencing some Battery Drain and found an app that was using CPU all time.
Used Titanium Backup to freeze that app.
The app was "Einstellungsspeicher" (Guess something like "Settingsstore" in English) and it was NOT marked as system-app. But still i haven't installed it manually.
Unfortunately the system wasnt able to boot afterwards.
Id like to keep my data, so a factory reset is not the first choice, but the last resort.
Is there anything i can do to unfreeze/defrost the app?
[Q] Can i just flash the patched AOKP-Rom again and the system-apps will be restored (and the normal apps will still be installed)?
[Q] Is there a recovery-zip i can install to defrost all apps that are frosted?
[Q] Can i defrost it manually?
[Q] When i made a backup with CWM after i freezed that app, can i install the rom, then recover the "normal apps" by doing a advanced restore? what would i have to restore in order to not restore the frost-state?
What kind of data u want to save?
I think u should check ur choosen ROM for auto wipe during install feature.
Look the thread and name the ROM btw
If its non autowipe u should just flash it again from recovery without any wipes. all the user apps will remain

Thanks for that. I flashed it again, but the system still wont boot up. At least i got my boot animation back, so i guess the system-settings have been reverted already. (I disabled that animation in the settings before)
Since it still wont boot, I guess the question is still how i could possibly defrost the app from CWM.
The flashed rom was http: -- aokp.co - devices - i9100 Milestone 1 (2013-04-16)
I want to keep the app-data i stored since the last backup (which was when i installed the rom last time, a few weeks back).
If i could backup that data for certain apps now, i could make a factory reset.

BTW Uve got a Titanium Backup for freezing, but did u have any apps backup made?
try clear cache and dalvic in recovery after flashing rom.Reboot
If u made cwm backup with normal boot try advanced restore. Step by step trying to restore parts
U can upload cwm backup somewhere and send me a link via PM. Ill have a look

i need suggestions

i have unlocked bootloader, installed custom recovery by NEXUS prime, rooted my phone
Now i want to know if install the the custom mods of apps ,toggle panels etc >>
q1- how to uninstall these customs mods??
q2- when i do factory reset what will happen do these custom mods changed permanently in my stock ROM???
q3- before installing anything i have been suggested to make recovery of that, now how can i make recovery of toggle panel or icons??
1.: Generally, there is no uninstall method. Workaround: Make a nandroid backup prior to installing and restore that backup for uninstalling.
2.: A Factory reset just wipes your data, cache, dalvik cache partitions. The mods you mean are installed in system partition.
3.: Do a nandroid backup after you installed the mods as well, so you can restore it anytime you want to have it back.

A nandroid backup is one of the most important things with custom roms.
In CWM and TWRP there is a backup option that will make a backup of your whole phone. So if you restore it later it will be the exact same as when you made the backup.
