Gingerbread Wifi Issue - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure if anyone else has seen this issue. I have been having Wifi issues with almost all GB ROMs. Wifi will be working fine then just drop off and reconnect randomly. This happens while I am using it and not while sleeping. I have confirmed this with Vegan 7.1, GHarmony, and the Flash* version from Slatedroid. I do not remember having this issue with CM7, but didn't like the ROM so I changed. I really want to switch to GB but this is a show stopper. Anyone thoughts?

Update to the latest Pershoot kernel. That has some fixes for this.
If the problem still persists, try downgrading your WiFi firmware blobs.
Note, however, that the causes of WiFi drops are many. Some troubleshooting will be needed to find out the exact cause of your problem.

Thanks for the recommendations. I tried newer kernel and downgrading the Wifi blobs. Still no go. The odd thing is this only happens with GB ROMs, all Froyo ROMs are fine, and it seems to be limited to my home Wifi, which is WPA/WPA2, at work with LEAP it doesn't happen. Going to try changing some settings on my WIFI this weekend. To compare Flashpoint from Slatedroid works fine, but the GB version Flashlight has the problem. Also going to try the older Vegan 7 on 1.2 bootloader, i don't remember this happening on that or CM7 build 86.

See if this helps: It doesn't.
Code:
$ [B]su[/B]
# [B]wpa_cli -i wlan0 driver setsuspendopt 1[/B]
[I]Wait 15 secs[/I]
# [B]wpa_cli -i wlan0 driver setsuspendopt 0[/B]

Sorry most of this is greek to me as I am a NOOB. Have Gtab 3588 1.1 vegan 7.?
all of a sudden I can't connect to wifi, all my other devices at home work fine. Getting a disabled connection from home, have tried re-adding, rebooting, reseting rom, reinstalling Vegan.
I sorry I need step by step help
thx Jaye

I think it has to do with the AES encryption key updates and the gingerbread wifi libs. Take a look at this post to see how you can change your router settings to prevent or minimize this.

However, you can:
1. Try upgrading to the latest pershoot kernel. Since you're on Vegan 7 (a Gingerbread ROM) and the 1.1 bootloader, go to http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/ and download this file boot-cm_2632.46_gb-oc-uv-xtra-vfp_fp-083111.zip from there. Copy the zip file onto your gtab, then install it using CWM.
2. If the upgraded kernel doesn't help try downgrading the firmware blobs using the link in post #2. Use the Cyanogenmod zip file.
3. If neither of the 2 steps above work, then follow this post and get me some logs.

As i thought,i have tried Vegan 7.0 and the problem is not occuring. I did have an issue with the new market but i just rolled back to original and removed the market updater. Seems like the issue is related to the 2.3.5 versions of ROMs.

will try this today
Thank you again. when I can get in I will find out what exact Vegan and such i am using. What info do you need? and exactly where do I find it. It says 7.0.0 when booting up
Thank you all again.

Fine, then you have a Gingerbread ROM. Just follow the instructions in post #7, above, and see if each step helps.
If steps 1. and 2. don't help you, use the instructions in the link in step 3. to get me logs which will help me troubleshoot your problem.

HI,
I hope this thread is still active as I'm having very similar issue. It has started 2-3 weeks after I got my gTablet and flashed it. The usual scenario is this:
1. Reboot
2. Immediate connection to wifi
3. Starting using internet - immediate disconnect
4. After several minutes of constant connect/disconnect finally connected
5. From now it works for a few minutes, then disconnect, then reconnects, works again, disconnects again etc.
What I have already tried:
1. Changing wifi channel - no difference
2. Changing security (wpa, wep, none) - no difference
2. Downgrading blobs - no difference
3. Installing new kernel - that seem to stabilize reconnection (it reconnects more often and more reliable)
At home I'm runnig netgear WNDR3300 router with ddwrt installed. I've also tried public RoadRunner access point in the gym but the result is the same.
I'm starting to think it is a hardware problem but would like somebody to verify that. Any help greatly appreciated. Log files are attached.
Thanks,
Janusz

1. As per the logs your access point seems to be returning an invalid lease time (-1 seconds). Change the DHCP lease time to 3600 seconds (1 hour) and get me another set of logs.
2. Why does your Netgear wireless router broadcast 2 SSIDs, "PL" and "PLN" ?

My DHCP lease time was set to set to 1440 minutes (minutes is the only available unit here). I don't remember changing that so it must be a default one. I can change it to 60 minutes and rerun logs.
My router has 2 radios. I need to keep WEP encryption for my linksys internet radios that don't support WPA. Originally I only had one radio turned on with WEP but once I started getting problems with gtablet I played with different settings. Now I'm running both radios. PLN is WPA encrypted with G only connection on channel 11 and PL is WPA b/g on channel 4. They don't interfere with each other and turning one of them off or on didn't make a difference for gTablet.
Janusz

New set of logs after chaning DHCP lease time to 60 minutes. Disconnects seem to be less frequent and they reconnect almost immediately. My previous post should say that PL radio is set to WEP, not WPA.
Thanks a lot,
Janusz

Change the WPA Group Rekey Interval to a different value (I have it set to 1800 seconds) then reboot both the router and the gTablet. The new set of logs show that the gTab is having trouble connecting to the Netgear.
See also this post for another setting which you can try tweaking.

Done. Was set to max 99999. Still disconnects, hard to say if less or more often then before (although works way better then yesterday). New logs attached.
Thanks,
Janusz

The latest set of logs show that the gTablet is still having problems connecting to the Netgear router:
Code:
gTablet$ [B]su[/B]
gTablet# [B]logcat -d -v time | egrep -i 'connectivity|dhcp|wpa|wifi|wlan'[/B]
...
10-21 12:51:13.406 E/ConnectivityService( 1048): Attempt to connect to WIFI failed.
...
I also see that the tablet is trying to connect to SSID 'PLN'. The first set of logs had it connecting to SSID 'PL'.
Suggestions:
1. Go back to the default values for Wireless LAN Settings on the wireless router--except for the ones we changed in this thread.
2. Delete the WiFi connection from the gTablet, reboot, then set up a new connection (only for SSID 'PLN').
3. For this new connection, set the no. of channels to 11 channels--ie US channel settings. (Advanced WiFi settings)
4. Turn off any "Network Notification" in WiFi settings.
5. Go back to the stock firmware on the wireless router instead of dd-wrt.
...hard to say if less or more often then before (although works way better then yesterday). New logs attached.

It's still disconnecting pretty regularly. Subjective judgements can be erroneous, so use the script (attached) that I use to check these things. After making the script (which needs busybox) executable and moving it into /data/local/bin, run it like this inside a Terminal Emulator window:
Code:
gTablet$ [B]dmesg | d.awk[/B]
[63636.011275] STA connect received 1
[66204.696828] STA connect received 1: 42m 48s
You can also pass one of the previously collected dmesg*.txt files through the script:
Code:
gTablet$ [B]d.awk /mnt/sdcard/dmesg2.txt[/B]
<4>[ 33.513973] STA connect received 1
<4>[ 215.890648] STA connect received 1: 3m 2s
<4>[ 396.218500] STA connect received 1: 3m 0s
<4>[ 576.546805] STA connect received 1: 3m 0s
<4>[ 757.899052] STA connect received 1: 3m 1s
<4>[ 938.227396] STA connect received 1: 3m 0s

Thanks a lot. I'll try some of those. I'll get my tablet to one of my friends to see if this will work better with other routers. I've already tried leaving only PLN connection but it didn't make any difference. The reason why latest logs were primarily PLN were because if "forgot" settings for PL. You have suggested to change WPA key renewal and this setting is only for PLN, thats why I removed PL, which is WEP. I may try resetting to defaults but I don't really want to go back to stock firmware as it has been reported by many as buggy and unstable. Its dd-wrt that puts new lifie into it. I have the whole bunch of other wifi devices at home and everything works perfectly.
I'll also give your script a try to see where I stand at.
BTW: Do you think it may be hardware problem? I don't think the BT/WIFI module is easily replacable without replacing the whole motherboard.
In the meantime I really appreciate your help so how can I buy you a beer?

Nothing in the logs indicate that this is hardware-caused. Other people, including me, have faced this before without hardware issues, so it is very likely a software problem. Our gTablet does not work well with some kinds of wireless routers. I have a software fix working on my gTab which I am in the process of testing. I'll send it upstream after I'm satisfied that it doesn't inadvertently break other things.

OK, will do
I've installed your custom awk script. Disconnects are every few minutes or so, well I'll live with it for now and try another router. When you have your fix ready sign me up for a beta testing.
Thanks again,
Janusz

[Q] WPA + AES = problem ?

Hi everyone.
I have recently upgraded my SGA from original 2.2.1 to 2.3.3 XXKPE and i have detected an issue when i try to use the WPA + AES combination. The phone detects the wifi but it tries to validate the password a few times and then it is disconnected...
When i tried to connect with the older firmware (Froyo 2.2.1) i could connect the first time but when i lost the connectivity my wifi changed it's state to error and the only way to reconnect was restarting the phone.
No issue detected with WEP or WPA + TKIP.
Anyone else has the same problem? If not, can you tell me your firmware version?
Many thanks in advance
Same situation: S5830 + ASUS WL500W works only with WPA TKIP. But with TKIP speed is limited to 54mbps. Android OS 2.3.4
Just picked up a Samsung Galaxy Ace running stock Android 2.3.4 (baseband S5830LUBKP7, kernel 2.6.35.7-perf-CL366939 [email protected] #1), and seem to be having this same problem.
My home wifi is set to WPA2 Personal+AES, and when the correct passphrase is entered, the Ace just continuously cycles through "Connecting... Disconnected", over and over.
If I drop back to WPA Personal+AES, I get the exact same thing. *However*, if I drop to WPA Personal+TKIP, the phone connects immediately.
I really don't want to use TKIP, as it has known exploits. Is there a known FOTA update for a US-market, unbranded Galaxy Ace that fixes this, or is there any known workaround except "don't use AES"?
try DDKQ6
after flashing DDQK6, reboot phone and enter PIN
then reboot again but in recovery and install CWM5

Thanks for the info. I'm new to flashing phones, would kinda like to stay stock if possible, since this is my wife's phone, not my own. Am I correct in thinking DDQK6 is an Indian firmware? If so, what would differ from US-market firmware, and would I potentially lose any features or cause any unusual behavior by switching to it?

Just update it over the air from setting -> about/phone -> update.
Make sure you have backed up the data like contacts and sms.
Hey, hey!! Problem with wifi? I'm an expert on this But I came with bad news, though.
What I found out:
There's indeed a bug that prevents us from connecting to this kind of wireless (eduroam, in my case). Everything seems to come from a buggy version of wpa_supplicant, everything goes well but then, in the second phase, it seems to "forget" the password or something (I'm not an expert, sorry, can't explain any better) I've been trying to change it, but no luck.
I've tried most of the stock firmwares, and custom roms as well. No luck, still the same bug.
There's an app that claims to fix the problem. wifi ace if I remember well (advanced config editor). But it didn't fix anything for me. You may want to give it a try.
I was expecting for samsung to fix it, but I've lost my faith on it. Neither google seems to be doing anything, as the bug remains on android 4.0.
I can provide you with some links, in case you want to read more about. And please, let me know if you find something.

No need to be sorry. You're replying to a thread that's current, in that I replied to it with my own problem. (And I did so because it was the only thread that came up in the Ace forum on a search for AES, which seems to be specific to the problem. Didn't seem to make sense to start a new thread when this one covers the same topic.)

[Q] Root will me wifi, Now: Stuck installing ClockworkMod Recovery to install new ROM

Hello everyone,
first of all, I am new on this Android world, so, any basic question I post, I ask for understanding in advance.
Trying to root my Viewpad 7 (Froyo 2.2), I come across to GingerBreak, I run it and it sucessfully root but it killed my Wifi (that's all connectivity I used, I have no mobile data plan)
as I wanted also to try new rooms, and flash a new one seems to be a only solution for the wifi problem (I have try factory settings without success). I come across Rom manager,
I download and install ROM_Manager_Premium_v4.3.2.3.apk from SD
and download CleanViewpad7_signed_v1.0.zip to my sd card
If I try to flash ClockworkMod Recovery from ROM manager, i get:
"Error while downloading from the server. Please make sure you have a stable internet conection ..." but that's no possible as I have no WIFI in my viewPad7 after root!
If I try to Install ROM from SD card (from Rom manager), the device restore in "Recovery mode" of "Andoid system recovery <3e>"; and it brakes with message "E:signature verification failed".
I have donwload it from several servers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168562), and all give the same error mesaage
I try to search for manual mode to install clockwork (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755379) but I can not find a way to go.
"wipe data/factory reset" inicializate the device, but it doesn't help with the wifi. it keet saying scaning->disconected->scanning->disconected ... (and of course, my wifi conection is set to remember with the password memorized)
In the cofig menu, i can see:
baseband: PR3.7_128
Kernel Apps_2.6.32.9
Build 4027_3_16R
In the FTM mode:
SWver=3.16R
Model:FM6-0001
HWVer:106
what can I do?, I just have a 7inch no apps-no connection beautifull "thing"
More: I have try two other Rooms:
EUViewpadV1.4.zip
Viewpad7 Stock EU 2.2 +rooted+CWM.zip
nothing works, signature verification failed

Okay, you willl be fine - just need to flash & restore it first to factory/stock ROM first, then root it and go from there - here are the steps that I would suggest:
First, save anything important on your mSD card if you need to, perhaps to a USB drive and/or computer's hard drive.
Next, use this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1260463 to download - for the stock ROMs from Viewsonic.
The newest one is for newer ITE hardware VPAD7 (and, I believe yours is NOT if you could get CleanViewpad v1.0 to boot up & activate the screen - and a number of users are having trouble with wifi ....) To override that signature verification error message that you get, look into CWM (I'm using v3.0.2.8) under Apply update from .zip file on SD card, and there's a "toggle signature verification" switch - change it and trying applying the zip file again to flash - it should work, as I recall. Before that, make sure you wipe system/cache/dalvik & reset data, etc. for a clean(er) new installation.
FM6-316Q-*.nb0 should work with earlier, non-ITE Vpad7 and so should FM6-3310-*.nb0, whereas the FM6-3350-*.nb0 should be for newer ITE devices with either HWver 107 and/or (some) HWver 106.
To flash it, you CANNOT use CWM but must download the SUTL3 (v1.7.9 worked for me) - read & following the onscreen warnings/directions and it should be finished in less than 10 minutes (have the Vpad7 fully charged first & do NOT need to have the mSD card installed)
When it's finished, reinstall the mSD card, take a deep breath & reboot/restart, and you should be up & running with the stock ROM in a few minutes - if so, check your wifi connectivity first before going any further. Start with 316Q ROM first and if it's good, you might want to move up to 3310 next (it's newer) & recheck wifi connectivity. STOP then, as yours is non-ITE and the 3350 will NOT work. You can then flash CWM and/or root it - with SOC or GB methods, etc. etc. which you're familiar with.
I had no problems with wifi connectivity and/or 3G data (prepaid GSM 3G coverage) running the Froyo Enhanced custom ROM (non-OC version since I have ITE hardware) OS 2.2 - However, I'm running stock ROM OS 2.2.2 rooted and wifi is perfect for me. (I'm written up a quck tip/guide also - in case you didn't come across it while searching for answers) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264647
Lastly, TJ_Style's FM6 ROM w overclocked kernel should work for you as well, it's OS 2.2 but I patched the boot.img with my saved newer 2.2.2 ITE kernel and got it working too, and, no issues with wifi access at all.
In short, check & change your Signature Verification options under CWM and try again, and, if not - restore by reflashing with SUTL3 a factory *.nb0 file, then - proceed from there.
Good luck, have a bit of patience - it's both fun & exciting, challenging & disappointment often followed by the joy of luck & success. Let us know how it go & write down any error message(s) so we can help figure it out together - plenty of "newbies" been around but still stranded at times.
Regards -
Thanks, SUTL3_v1.7.9 and FM6-3310-0-5029-A02.nb0 works like a charm, easy and bring back my ViewPad7 to work,
for anybodies info, that change my ViewPad to:
Android version : 2.2.2 (from 2.2)
Baseband version PR3.7_128 (same)
Kernel Version Apps_2.6.32.9 (same)
Build Number 5029_3_310 (from 4027_3_16R)
I got encouraged, and I try FM6-3350-0-1008-A01.nb0, that gives me:
Android version : 2.2.2 (from 2.2)
Baseband version PR3.7_128 (same)
Kernel Version Apps_2.6.32.9 (same)
Build Number 1008_3_350 (from 4027_3_16R)
Swype included !! (seems a little odd and disordered the configuration process, so skip it)
what means ITI / non-ITI ?
languajes: both nb0 are English/Spanish/French only
now I will start with rooting and so, I will let you know
once more, many thanks.
Wonderful, we are all glad to know that you had success. Is your wifi working once again with either stock unrooted ROM?
Once rooted & CWM reinstalled, do a backup first to save those *.img files, etc. so that you can easily restore/go back later on if necessary.
As I said, check out Enhanced Froyo and TJ_Style's FM6 custom ROMs, both of them should work nicely for you - including wifi (I believe, as least on mine - both solid signals in both G and N routers, WEP & WPA-2 modes. (Also, try open or unsecured mode)
Happy flashing ....
YES !!, wifi is working back to normal. At least sometimes (I have need to re-flash few time already, it has stoped working few times more, and not becouse of rooting, just installing apps from market)
I have also encoutered the next problem : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XuccAxXY_8
and that shouldn't be normal behaviour?, isn't it ?
try with diferent room or return to viewsonic ?
by the way, what ITE means ?
thanks once more

ITE refers to Panjit Touchscreen (Multi-Touch Resistive) used on newer Vpad7 built & shippped vs. older hardwares used on earlier models.
On that subject, I've looked at a # of youtube video reviews & posting about the device's orientation/rotation issues, and it seemed to me that it prefer to be in a landscape mode. But, there are times where we wanted to have a choice, turn it 90 degree for a vertical or straight up - not so sure it's 99% hardware problem - rather, problem caused by a mix of Android codes & Apps used. Some were defective but that's a production & quality control issue, so, anyway.
I'm not sure after seeing at your YT video what the problem is, please describe & I will have another look with my thoughts on it.
Does it happen with the stock/factory ROM or only with the ROM being runned now - I would flash a different ROM to compare the results.
Sending it back to Viewsonic is an option but you will be without its use for 2 to 4 weeks (usual timeframe, could be longer) & deal with packing, insuring, shipping & waiting - but, if it's "bad" - get authorization & exchange it or repaired.
Regards !
Bad news, as later day, wifi come alive, it went down sometimes, and as I was trying application I flash the three diferent factory rooms few times. What I didn't notice is that the wifo was disconecting more and more often: now it does connect at all.
As said, I have try the three diferent ROM in viewsonic, and also an app called FixMyWifi, nothing helps, wife is all the time "Connecting..."->"Disconected"->"Searching"->and so on
about the strange behiviour of the screen, the matter is that as soon as using two fingers, the right one, can not be in lower position than the left one. So forgot about plenty of games, drawinf with two fingers, dificulto for rotating maps (when the rotation of finger goes beyond 90 degres)
And one of the reasons I bought it is my little boy, explain that to a children of four years..., in deed he found it as "that does work well, the tank does not follow my fingers"
so, as a multitouch is basically pointless if you have to care your right finger does not go bellow your left one ...
Anything to do with the Wifi ?
rooting may help in some way?, and some terminal comands?
I am willing to try, I am just in the point before return it as faulty device.
Many thanks for all the help given.

Thanks for clarifying and I looked at the YT video again - perhaps you would be better off getting Viewsonic for authorization to return for repair or exchange it. On my device, the screen is responsive 98% of the time but I do realize that sometimes, when we're playing Angry Birds, that it too doesn't always readily respond to commands or launch the bird shots .... Not a big deal for games, it will usually get going again - worst case, use the Go Back key & restart the level - I figure that it could be a combination of the Froyo or Android codes written for the OS and/or along with the Angry Birds gaming itself.
Afterall, my "regular" & 2 years old smartphone, HTC Eris running a nearly identical CPU & configuration is running custom rooted GingerBread ROM - and, is must better & responsive in overclocked mode. The Vpad7 will not, I feel, be running Honeycomb but let's hope that some of the veteran xda developers will soon release a working GingerBread ROM - perhaps it will fix many of the issues across the field, so to speak. (or, if Viewsonic will release it as official update .... wishful thinking, huh - but !)
On the wifi issues, have you tried doing the SuperOneClick and/or GingerBreak apk to root, and then flash TJ_Style's custom FM6 ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264647 - this OC version with WiFi fix might work for you without any mods (patching or zip flashing the 2.2.2 boot.img)
On wifi configuration itself, is this happening with different routers - "older" G mode or newer N (faster) routers, unsecured or open network or secured (WEP, WPA or WPA2, etc.) - any issues on the host computer/router's firewall blocking ? Can you log in at a public hotspot or cafe like Starbuck ?
Go into Settings > Wireless & network settings > Wi-Fi settings > and, then, tap the Home key (the bottom of 4 keys on the device - held in landscape mode) and you should see "Scan" & "Advanced" - does it pickup a decent signal ? Click "Advanced" & look at your "Wi-Fi sleep policy" - mine is checked for "When screen turn off" - tried "Never" or "Never when plugged in" - any difference ? If you get this far, you might want to try to set up & Use "static IP" instead of using dynamic ip addressing that these devices usually count on .... it's a bit of work, but might help to "zoom" into your own router only.
I use "Wifi Analyzer" v2.5.13 from Kevin Yuan (Google Market) to help scan the spectrum for signals and possible interference, which sometimes do happen - and moved 1 of our 2 cable broadband router to a different channel so that all of our wireless (up to 15 of them, yes) devices around the house can easily connect to the hotspots. (Reading posts @ other forum sites & ran my inSSIDer v2.0 from Dell laptop for baseline, it scanned 17 active APN's with varying signal strengths, our Sony W995 picked up only 6 signals with 3 good ones, the HTC Eris picked up 6 signals also with 3 good ones, and the Vpad7 only 3 signals, 2 of them from our own indoor G & N routers plus 1 from neighbors that's marginal. It's safe to assume that our device's internal radio receiver or Baseband isn't very good with reception to begin with - you might need to flash a different "build" like mine to give it a try - and try switching your wifi channel.)
Just some of my thoughts on the wifi problem as I do run into signal problems myself every so often installing a new device or configure a guest's new gadget at home. If all else failed and along with the touchscreen problem, then I would say get it fixed via repair or exchange from Viewsonic, and then .... (a few weeks later, upon its return to you - happy rooting & flashing, etc.)

about the wifi issue, I have try all the steps you mention before, nothing helps with my router (deliver by the telephone company). The only thing that works, sometimes, s turning off the router for several seconds, then it connect again. As absurd it sounds, it looks like the viewpad doesn't disconnect from the router even as turned off, so the router doesn't allow to negociated again a conection (and it keeps it in connected device while the viewpad is reseting or turned off)
I have try connecting a Linksys Wi-fi and connecting trought it : WORKS GREAT.
Trying in different locations, some of them same problem as the router, others works perfectly.
Solved for home with second wifi-point, I see myself one day asking Starbuchs guy to reset their router...

[Question] MiniCM7-2.1.9 wifi not working

I'm on the latest nAa kernel, using MiniCM7-2.1.9, but wifi just doesn't work. I can browse the internet using my 3G connection, just not wifi for some reason.
Wifi shows it's connected, the signal bars is full but it just doesn't download any data, it's like it's not connected at all. It's able to get an IP address and the link speed is good but it just doesn't get any data.....
I've tried searching through different posts and tried solutions such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21766413&postcount=498
as well as the instruction to fix wifi in the Troubleshooting page here:
http://code.google.com/p/minicm/wiki/Troubleshooting
and this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22170822&postcount=817
I also cleaned the dalvik cache by going into recovery, reboot and still doesn't work.
and they all don't work....
UPDATE:
OK nvm it works now. I reflashed the kernel, wipe data & factory reset and then reflash the rom, and now it works. It's the exact same thing I did for the past 30 mins, except this time I also reflashed the kernel. I just hope it'll continue working.....
UPDATE 2:
Ok, now it's not working again. I rebooted the phone twice, and it was able to connect to wifi no problem. But then later on it stopped working again, I didn't install or change anything either.
I also noticed that whenever I'm connected to wifi on my phone, the wifi on my PC will timeout and drop connection. If I then try to connect wifi on my PC, then the wifi on my phone will timeout. Basically, I can't connect both at the same time.
But all my other devices work fine. My Motorola Milestone and my mom's HTC Desire Z works fine. My iPod Touch works fine, I've NEVER had a wifi issue with any of my devices until I tested out my new Xperia X10 Mini Pro today.......
I haven't tried testing it on stock rom & kernel, because the first thing I did was to unlock the bootloader and flash the nAa kernel + MiniCM7-2.1.9. And I can't be bothered flashing back to stock since I won't be staying on stock anyway, especially after setting up everything already so I can't really be bothered.....
Anyway, so I then tried to delete wpa_supplicant.conf in data/misc/wifi (as mentioned above) and this time it shows "Error" under Wi-Fi settings.
This is really annoying me....
One note about wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf). In stock kernel with MiniCM Pro from paul-xxx the right ctrl_interface was wlan0.
nAa kernel (with MiniCM from nAa) needs tiwlan0.
So it isn't necessery to delete file with all wifi networks when changing kernel/ROM but one value in config file.
ya, except the value was tiwlan0 already, I tried changing it back to wlan0 and nothing happens. So then I tried deleting it, and now whenever I try to turn Wifi on it just shows Error.
What's actually strange about this is that I've backed up the original file, and when I restored it and tried to turn Wifi on, it turns on but doesn't display any network.
Before, it would display tons of networks, and it would connect to my router (but doesn't download data for some reason). It doesn't work but at least you can tell it's able to detect networks.
Now, it doesn't even show any networks. The only way to fix this is to restore from recovery or do a wipe......
Ok so I did some research and could this be the case?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwYOtf4fI0Q
I've also tried to assign static IP but it still doesn't work. I went into my router and checked the ARP, and it shows this:
IP address Flags MAC Address Device
192.168.1.2 Complete 00:18E:48:42:C9 br0
192.168.1.3 Complete 00:E0:4C:A3:8B:A8 br0
192.168.1.6 Incomplete 18:87:96:FE:16:3E br0
192.168.1.5 Complete 48:5D:60:3B:5E:5D br0

where 192.168.1.6 is assigned to my phone. I'm not that good with router stuff but know the basics, does anyone know what I need to configure?

Wifi not connecting on Asus Memo pad 10.1

My tablet will not connect to ANY WiFi network anymore. Everything was working perfectly, but had to send the tablet to Asus for RMA because it would not charge anymore. But now, when i connect to my wifi network it just says its saved and does not connect" I figured maybe it was an issue with my network, so I went out and tested it with other WiFi connections. It can scan and detect everything, but the same thing happens while trying to connect to anything. My Sony phone and laptop are able to connect to everything perfectly, but the tablet will not, even to the networks which it has previously connected to.
Things I have tried:
Deleted all networks by using the "Forget network" option and tried connecting again.
Tried "open" type networks without any passwords.
Rebooted the tablet several times.
Done a factory reset, twice.
Tried to analyse logcat data.
Anyone else know a fixs for this problem? Or do i have to rma it again..

Same issue - any resolution?
I purchased two refurbished ASUS MeMO Pad Smart 10.1" tablets from Groupon - $109 each - in late Sept 2014. Figured it was a good deal so I jumped on it: I would have one for myself and one for a gift (for my father). Mine has worked without any issues, but I finally gave my father his tablet today (Mar 1, 2015 - yes, six months later) ... and I cannot get his tablet to connect via wi-fi. I've tried all the same steps - from the initial setup to trying other wi-fi locations to doing a factory reset. Nothing is working.
How can I fix this???? Please help!!
I just had the same problem reinstalling the stock rom.
It was a permissions problem caused by the su executable blocking che permission change, I solved installing a selfmade custom zip via recovery, ispired by this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-asus-memo-pad-8-me180a-ww-3-1-0-42-t3027620
This is the url of the zip, if you know how to use it... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18969675/me180a_permissions_fix.zip

My system worked for my MemoPad, but I have no idea if it's compatible with your model...
It's a simple script who changes the permissions, it doesn't install anything, so I don't think it could do any damage...
The problem with original rom was about "set_metadata_recursive" function not existing, so I had to list all files from the directories and call "set_metadata" on each one.

Hello, I hope it's not against rules to bump old threads, but I need the file from above post, it would be great if anyone have it and is willing to reupload it.

[Q] Wifi not working (g)

Hello, i'm flashed a new rom
[ROM] Dirty Unicorns 4.4.4 [UNOFFICIAL][BUILT-1](16-8-2014)
And don't have any problems. Currently in home i connecting to linksys, wifi mode is N. I visiting my mom it has router d-link 610, i suppose it has G wireless mode, so the question is following, when i scan any wifi connection, i cannot see her router, however all other devices perfectly see, Note 3, notebook with N mode. And i cannot understand why it's happening, may i should reflash "some" module, so it started to work.
It's currently blank, even if i put manualy SSID and password.

Thank you for answer, after some experiments i flashed bad rom (don't ask my how about 2 years of experience), hopefully fastboot still worked, i reflashed nemesis kernel, and after it , throught adb iterface i pulled to phone corrected rom. However, i decided to return to stock rom with flashtool, after all long time of manipulation of my xperia (about 1 year),
And now it's working almost great, however i'm still finding a good rom.
Also i did as you adviced me, still no results. By the way thank you
