Not sure when this happened, but I have only just noticed. The Video Unlimited app has been updated with a preview (at least here in the UK). You have to download an update of the app then you have to download the Sony Network Account Manager (it prompts this automatically and links through to the Market).
Currently there are only a few ****ty films available for 99p rental.

Waiting for it to be fully opened similar to Xperia handsets, as I found it to be useful to watch high definition movies using the micro HDMI through my tv
It's a shame that Tablet S doesn't have HDMI output
Hope Sony will find a way to add it even with an external dock, DLNA is not available in all TVs unfortunately

Sorry I didn't realise, plus I hadn't heard anyone mention it so I thought others might not know. Sony probably wont start shouting about it until the full catalogue is up.
The name suggests there will be an all you can eat plan (like Music Unlimited) but I doubt that will be the case, does anyone know otherwise?

I know, but it's a preview of the service. Typically, when you get access to preview a service the content is free, so you can preview it before signing up and paying for it.

Nope, it's not a preview of the service, the service is already available in most sony products(Xperias, TVs, PS3s and Blue-ray players)
They just haven't optimized the whole app for the tablet yet. Maybe they must assumed that everyone knows how good the video quality so they didn't provide any samples or free movies (the quality is amazing by the way, tried from my Xperia Arc to my TV) anyway, since they haven't complete the tablet app they should at least put something free to cover it up. I guess that's what you meant in the end
previews are available in Xperia handsets by the way. For some movies you can see trailers and watch the quality of the film.

Everything can be free elsewhere, from movies to tv shows. True you can buy DVDs for the same price or sometimes cheaper, but the quality in their movies is much better than a DVD, that's what makes me interested in renting or buying,
Already bought some movies with my SE Xperia Arc, Alexander for example is much better in quality than my DVD version, even when I connected my Arc to a TV it still was amazing.
Only if HDMI was available in Tablet S :-(

The app's not showing for me in the Market. Can't even uninstall and do a fresh install. Says device is incompatible!
Finally got it to update. Still think prices are too high. We should get a discount if we already bought the dvd/blu-ray. Not going to pay for it again when I can just rip it.

Working now. The shortcut on the desktop was causing the problem. Accessed it from the app draw and it worked. Should be $2.99 to rent a movie and $.99 for tv shows.
I think with the name like Video Unlimited it should actually be unlimited. I was hoping for a monthly pricing for unlimited videos (similar to Netflix). Since Sony Pictures makes movies they can offer them for free if they choose to since they don't have to wory about licensing and distribution fees.
The Video Unlimited service is a sad joke. You only get 24 hours to watch a rented movie after you press play. They're charging $3.99 for this ridiculous limitation. Why not give us 7 days? That's reasonable, particularly for folks who travel and want content to watch that's not streamed. 24 hours simply is not long enough. Charge $1.99 for this.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it will give you 30 days to play the rented movie, and 48 hours to watch as soon as you hit the play button
I read this when renting a movie in Xperia Arc, but it could differ in Tablet S

Shadowgun is out! how well does it work for are evo 3d? any reviews guys?
I have purchased it but need to use Chainfire 3d Pro to play it. I had to scale to 16bit color but still looks awesome. Played for 10 min only since I am at work. The game is awesome. Best graphic yet. I feel like I'm playing an xbox 360 game. The game does require 250mb of sd card space so by the time its done your 15min return window will have expired. And a few times the download stops and you have to redo it again. Maybe its a server thing.

Good question. I've already had chainfire on my phone so I didn't try uninstalling it before I tried. But knowing its a Tegra 2 game you most likely will need it.

Chainfire has a setting if you use Nvidia plugin you can do a "Fix Market settings" which will trick the Market that you have a Tegra 2 device so the game will show up when you search for it.

There's an update to Shadowgun which some have reported broken graphics (read Market comments) so if you decide to try it make sure you do a backup first. Also it looks like the update requires more data download. I tried it but after it asked me to download more data (says 250mb) I skipped it and restored my old back up of the game. Didn't wanna be stuck with broken downloads like last time or chance ruining my old data.
Does anyone know what this update entails?
I think the only way for me to get Chainfire3D to work for me is to buy it. The free version completely screws up all of my graphics in games.

Since it IS 17 bucks, and i don't want my money going to waste like it did with SPB shell which was a bunch of bs... I'm going to pirate it, test it, if its buggy uninstalled, if its as how the video shows it to be, then hell yeah buying it however i can. now... time to find a pirating website haha

I'm calling bull**** lol because the first thing I did was buy the app, back it up with titanium back up, then refund it only to find out it has a license check. So I said **** it and bought it.
Use lucky patched. Its fast but feels like there's 90 steps to make a phone call. Its really fast and visually appealing but I can use launcher pro with my eyes closed so ill stick with that...and its free hehe

Has anyone been having issues with color banding problems with color gradations?
I've compared the same apps using my Note with my Skyrocket. The Note seems to have a very serious banding issue while the Skyrocket displays them fine. (See attached images)
I will go to the store and compare to another Note just to make sure before I return it for a new one.

As you can see in my post above, it apears to be a software issue not an issue with the screen. The software is telling the display to look like that.

It's the same reason phone apps look bad on tablets, and why tablet versions are eventually released.

An easy way to tell is to put a picture or graphic with similar tones to the graphic in question into your gallery. If it's a hardware issue, you should see similar banding. If it's simply trying to scale a low res picture too high, you won't.
I remember when the iPad first came out people were installing all kinds of iPhone apps on it and them complaining about how they looked. That's why they put that little "2x" button in the bottom corner. The apps would default to iPhone size unless you hit the 2x button, in which case the app looked bad. Then they started developing tablet versions of the apps and presto, problem gone.

Don't get me wrong, there probably are some units with bad displays. That happens with every phone that comes out. I'm just saying it's not likely a systemic hardware issue. By all means, if people are getting better performance than you, go see about a replacement. But if we are all in a similar boat (like the guy that posted a similar thread showcasing banding in the notification pulldown), it's likely a problem with the images, not the phone.

I wonder how effective it would be to take the stock images that are most affected (pull down notification, for instance), upscale them and hit them with the gradient tool in photoshop. Maybe if I get some time I'll give it a shot.

That is my first impressions based on the current release. With the ICS update, I have actually really liked Touchwiz launcher (believe it or not). I'm not sure chameleon would be my launcher when competing with Touchwiz and Nova.

Was about to pull the trigger on this one, but been reading and some people seem discontent so I might as well wait...but then again it's 10$ as a pre-order. How much do they think they can charge and get away with?? I'm no cheapskate but 10 seems a bit much for a launcher...makes me wonder how much it'll be when released?

I have a Glaxy tab 10.1, and have get the download link to get Chameleon Launcher, but I get the error messenge "This app is incopatible with your Samsung GT-P7500"
What can I do so i can get it?

Honestly, at this point I would wait. With no wallpapers or widgets except for theirs, I would wait to see how it turns out. I'm not even using it right now.

You need ICS or Jellybean. It's not compatible with Honeycomb.

I purchased mine Wed. night, got that email right after.....today I got my email to register......pretty plain right now but can see it to be quite assume down the road.....
its okay. i didnt like it much. The widgets are very limited. It should be native for every app. Seems slow but then again its a beta. hopefully, will see more improvements in full version.

You need to update your software. I'm guessing you're still on 3.1 because I was mistaken. It is compatible with Android 3.2 and up.

None of the current apps will work because they made a bold decision to develop on a HTML5 environment. It was though that they could get more developers to work on new Widgets if they did this. Only time will tell. They may have rushed the beta though, it really needs a few more apps for users to really test it out and find software bugs in the interface. As opposed to hardware incompatabilities.
They may have gone with the beta now because the interest was peaking and if they left it much longer the interest would start to fade.
I like the concept and it has a lot of potential, they may be pricing themselves out of the market. Their are other good launchers for significantly less. I am one of the beta users though.

if that comes true. that sux . The widgets they offered in the beta. I was only interested in only 1.

What I do have it that my tablet goes back to my stock launcher and I always have to restart Chameleon. How do I fix this?
Until they add more Widgets, I'm not going to be using it.

It's on a dod site, it looks like it comes with everything, has a 90 warranty. Cheapest I've seen on amazon is $70 for new. I've seen a couple of threads on bluetooth headsets so I thought I'd post this.

Well like I said, I've purchased from them before and they were prompt and somewhat fast. As for the red flags, I use WOT and Mcafee siteadvisor in FireFox when I'm not sure and it didn't throw any flags when I first checked them out.

I just bought one, thanks for the tip, I just saw it while browsing the forum page. It kind of sucks that it says it can take up to 6 business days to ship, but that is the max so it is probably just in case. Get the best bluetooth for the price of the worst.

How much was it on the site, just wondering?
The Tracking number they gave me starts with a 9 and it should start with 1Z usually for UPS, but they may use SurePost(a combo of UPS and USPS) which I dont know much about. Does anyone know what is going on with the shipping tracking?
I received a similar number dorm my order last week and it took a few days (including the weekend) before i was able to track it.
I ordered last Wednesday and it should arrive thisThursday.

I had the EXACT same experience. I ordered on Wednesday got the tracking info on Friday(I think, not by email). I was only able to track it when I checked today after like 10 or 11 maybe not sure, but before that it said "Not available". It is a different type of shipping....It is 1 hr 10 min away from me RIGHT NOW, and I wont get it till Thurday either(estimated, possibly earlier I guess).
"UPS Mail Innovations" is who is shipping it, may not be that same.

I don't recall getting an email giving me a shipping number, but I checked the webpage and shows that I'll get mine Thursday. oh and mine is 104 miles away. Knowing UPS, it'll be here on Thursday they don't tend to like to get things to me early.
So I just got this in on the 20th and wanted to play with it a bit before I said anything about it. In a nutshell, I don't like it. I like it's premise with A2DP, the accelerometer and the cool integration things, but in the end I feel it was poorly executed.
First the rubber actually hurts my ear, which is a novel concept for me because I have big ears. Even with a big earpiece, I was hoping it would apply enough grip that I could wear it without the loop, but no such luck. The over the ear hook is cool, it disconnects easy enough but not so easy that i'll pop off while on your ear and it swivels for optimal positioning, but it's hard plastic and it's a small loop.
The audio is good, but not better than any of it's competition, but in the same breath it isn't worse than it's competition either. The noise assassin, is a cool idea, but no more effective than the competition's noise canceling.
The tap tap function is cool, but why not just use a button? It has a function called shake shake so you can answer your phone call while it isn't in your ear, my only question is why not just put it in your ear and answer it then? To pair, it uses a double shake shake, which is handy to quickly put the headset into pairing mode, but how often do you need to pair a headset?
The software. Oh how i wish I could say that all of that could be made up with the software. But all you can do with the software is tell it what you want the talk button to do when you press it and if you want it to speak your calender reminders.
Lastly is the webpage. First you have to install the updater software, which you would imagine to operate similar to like a logitech software bundle but all it does is provide an interface for your headset and the webpage which is fine. You can choose from 6 different voices which is cool AND you can specify what service you want to use when you do a press and hold action. Unfortunately the majority of the services, (all 7 of them) require accounts/payments. From the webpage you can access different functions like disabling the tap tap or shake shake feature or A2PD, but my question is, why can't the app handle these?
I guess I'm being just picky or maybe I'm jaded because I just got it in and it isn't working with my phone anymore (not sure if it's a ROM issue or a headset issue) but I don't like the headset. If anyone wants it, i'll give it up for a little less than I paid for it or else it'll probably end up in a drawer whilst I continue my search for the best bluetooth headset.
Oh and a bit on dailysteals, good company, the headset only came with the 1 ear cover, and the back was a little scratched up where it looked like someone couldn't figure out how to plug it in but I can accept that for a headset that's still going for $70 to $110 new.
