Cyanogenmod and Sideloading - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i've been searching around but cant find what Im looking for. Im unlocked, rooted, and on the CM beta and can't figure out how to sideload. Im trying to sideload the webtop mods for mirroring but I can not install them. I have tried adb install, using root explorer, etc, but it always fails.
can someone point me in the right direction?

Settings => applications => Unknown sources

it was actually just app specific, for some reason i had a couple apps that i guess weren't packaged correctly. All clear.

CM7 has HDMI mirroring out of the box. No need for those patches. In fact, they'd just cause problems since all the mirroring patches I've seen thus far are for Blur roms only.

[Q] HP Zeen C150 Tablet

Anybody have one of these? I recently got my hand on one, and the estation c1650 printer also, and wondering if there is anybody else with on, would like root, and or wipe the device and get ride of the stupid HP touchsmart UI. it would be a dream to run a galaxy tab rom or something. I though i saw a galaxy tab floating around? a system dump maybe? But any help would be appreciated.
I was able to install Astro, launcher Pro, angry birds, and dropbox, so it kinda got rid of the touchsmart UI, but I would like to get root access. I have tried easyroot, and i click root, the droid x method, and nothin seems to work..
How did you install apps?
I also have one of these. How did you install the applications listed above. I don't believe these are supported by HP.
go and download launcher pro, find the .apk online, put it on your sd card, and from the files app install it, and then push the home button, click on launcher pro, and set it to default, and then you are able to find the a.pk online fo apps and use them,
another question, i want to be able to get market access? any idea how to do this? i have tried various vending.apk's from different roms and such, but no luck
any help?
Thanks for the info.
I'll give it a try. I'd also like to have market. This will give me everything I want for now until 2.2 comes out.
Setup of Zeen without ink and printer setup
Can I set the zeen up without setting the printer up. It's not letting me out of the setup of the zeen without setting the printer up.
I'm a little interested in one of those. I love HP but not a fan of Yahoo. If this can be rooted, I'm definately going to look into upgrading my printer. LOL
recovery mode
Does anyone know how to book into recovery mode or bootloader?

i've tried about every combination of buttons, volume up/down/power, home, back, but to no avail. sigh..........
spangenberg - You mentioned on another site you got USB Debugging enabled, how did you do that? Or does anyone else know how to enable USB Debugging on the Zeen?
I got one one of these too. Using it now actually. Getting root would be awesome. Usb debugging is in settings. Tried a lot to get to recovery, no luck as well. Many apps will install though.
Hrmm, found it. Odd, I swear I looked all over for it. My guess is that we are stuck on the USB Drivers then for rooting. The Viewsonic G Tabet needed a USB driver hack to work. The HP Zeen uses a Freescale processor from what I've seen, so not sure how I'd setup the USB.
When trying to Root using SuperOneClick I get stuck at Waiting for Device with USB Debugging enabled. I grabbed the Android SDK, but there was no usb_drivers folder.
Trying to follow the steps in the Viewsonic G Tablet thread on XDA, that I can't link to cause I'm to new. >.<
Well, you can paste this behind the .com/ part to get to it:

Yea SuperOneClick was doing that to me as well. I don't know much about Freescale. I've also tried every ROOT tool in the marketplace, no luck. From what I have read, we need to find out how to boot it in bootloader first. From there I'm not sure what the next step is.
I have one too. Besides installing launcher pro, haven't gotten anywhere with it. If you hold down both volume buttons and the power button while booting it will bring up a menu to delete user data. Not sure if this is useful or not.
Well I got root. Sorta. It has su and some root stuff works, some don't. Kinda weird. I'm thinking that since it's not a phone, it can't give full root. but anyways, I'm not gonna tell you how I *cough*aquired* the app but I will give ya the name of it. It's called z4root. Actually, I just found it for free on the market. So, move apk to zeen and click away. My "development" doesn't go much further than this, sadly.
Thanks for the info on z4root. I couldnt get titanium backup to work though after i installed it. Said it couldn't get root access.

Yea, Like I said, some stuff works and some don't. I wish I knew where to go from here.
This may sound dumb, but i think someone should try to email hp support and tell them they need the driver for the zeen because windows will not install it automatically and you can not copy music to it. They may send the driver we need to put it in usb debugging mode, you never know. I would try but I am at work and you have to have the serial number for support.
Apps and printing
I'm thinking about getting one of these. My question is, what apps work, so far and will this still work for printing after you hack it. My understanding is that you need the tablet in order to print.
Thanks.
Hi, anyone tried to install the xbmc-remote? I'm definetly bying this if the xbmc remote works!
ragregory did you ever figure out a way to get by the setup proccess?
any luck on bootloader guys?

[Q] Alien 4 suddenly unrooted?!?!

I've been using Alien 4 as my daily driver for a month or so now. Occasionally, I'll run a nandroid, and install something else to "try things out", but I always come back to Alien. Most recently, my SU access on my phone seems to have disabled itself. One day, I'm clicking alond nicely, using titanium for app backup, working with a bunch of other apps that require root, and suddenly, nothing with root works. I was prompted to update Superuser.apk from the market a few weeks ago (memory is a little fuzzy on exact timeline), but I'm thinking that has something to do with it. I have disabled / enabled debugging, attempted to reroot via the howto over at briefmobile, and have pretty much exhausted my googlefu. Has anyone run into this? Does anyone have any thoughts on how to get SU either downgraded, or reinstalled? Keep in mind that because I've lost root, using tools like root explorer or ADB are pretty limited. I wanted to post this over to the Alien Rom thread, but because I'm mostly a lurker, I'm apparently verboten from posting in Dev threads. Thanks for the help in advance.

have you tried using the preinstall method to re-root that eval- posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15023022&postcount=2
Apparently I just needed to look one link further:

Pete's Motorola Root Tools method re-rooted my Atrix. On a side note though, it reinstalled the older version of superuser, which is behaving appropriately. My issues must have been related to the new version.....

[Q] Noob to hdx, 4.5.2, need Gapps

Hi, as the title states, im a noob to the hdx7 dev, I have some experience with other android devices, but I understand that Kindles are very specific to certain things.
I need to install Gapps for work, as 90% of the time I use drive and Gmail among others, and would prefer the apps over the web version.
I´ve been reading a lot, but cant find exactly where to start, Im currently on 4.5.2, is there a way that I can install Gapps? Sideloading just wont do, so I think I need a custom ROM, but, how to do that? where to start?
Hope you can help me, Thans a lot in advance!

Thanks a lot, but Im SO stuck, as my ADB just wont recognize the Fire. I´ve tried everything I found, installing and reinstalling different version of the drivers, rebooting both the pc and the fire, nothing, Im stuck...
I got the same problem with my second kindle. And the solution is to use a different computer to get adb. But if you are on a version higher than 13.3.2.6 then you can't get Google play store and other stuff that needs Google services.

You need to go into settings->Device options and then press repeatedly on Serial Number until Developer options appears - from there you can enable adb access.

Cube T9 - No adb commands after reset

I don't know where to start so I'll just begin...
My Cube T9 is using the stock rom with the latest ota update, rooted with busybox and xposed. ( and I didn't backup anything :crying: )
I started having issues with low internal space so I installed link2sd pro. That seemed to work well enough but now I've noticed a few icons missing from my desktop and nav bar after rebooting. I figured this would probably would work better if I reset everything and stated fresh so I did. After reboot, I couldn't connect to the internet because of the dreaded nvram error which I found accompanying a missing imei and serial number. (can you say "schlep-rock"?)
Since I couldn't download from the play store, I tried pushing some files over to the /data/local/tmp and all was fine. I went to use chmod, ls and dir but they were not found.
Now, I just wanted to get it back to functional. Where do I begin?
no expert here but
As title states I am no expert but in my past experience with galaxy tab 1 2 3 and 4 and now t9 after root and using app2sd missing icons after reboots were a norm. For some reasons it seems like missing registries (not a clue was its called in android talk)
My t9 is still not rooted. Think I'll wait it out a bit. Reading too many horror stories.
Have you installed any root explorer?
If so, maybe this is the way? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197378

Thanks for the info.
I haven't installed anything else because now root seems to be no more and I get this parsing error when I try to install anything. I was trying the install-apk-from-google-drive but now that is a no go with no wifi.
Most issues resolved!

I was able to get everything except the serial number fixed by flashing a v1.02 rom in sections (boot, system, userdata, etc). I've tried every version of flashtool and sp flashtool to no avail. I kept scouring the links of google that led me to a treasure trove of goodies. Down toward mid-page is what helped me. It's called the "Universal Android Flasher". The only thing I couldn't flash was the recovery.img but I'm not complaining.
All apps install and function fine. No permissions issues at all. Rooted with iRoot. I'm still looking for a serial number fix but I'm not to concerned about that either because wifi is working and my cell service. I'll update again when I figure out this serial fix.
Happy days are here again!
Does anyone know how to access the recovery partition through the adb shell? I've tried /recovery, /dev/recovery and /dev/block/mmcblkOp8 but I can't access. Is there an app that can show me all of the symbolic links?
Thanks

help rooting Rand McNally Overdryve tablet

Hi, I would be grateful if someone could help me root and install a custom rom on this device. Please refer to the 3 images showing detailed information about my tablet.
Thank you very much for your help.
hey did you ever get this rooted?
Hi guys. I am also very much interested in root for this device. If we manage root on this it will become extremely useful. Please lets keep the thread active. II havent been in this forum for a while now as I didnt have an android device since I sold my Note 5.
I suggest we contact any of the forum members who are advanced in these matters to assist us with the root for Overdyve.
I'm Interested as Well
I'm going to try to dive in and see if I can figure out rooting my Overdryve. Since they don't seem to sell too many of these, I think we'll have to figure out how to do this without a nifty app. If anyone has any thoughts/pointers/useful articles, perhaps they'd share them.

I agree with you 100%. We really need to stick together on this and help each other out noting that these devices are very few. In the event we are unable to root the device is there any other way of enabling Google Play Services without requiring root? If I can get support for the Google services I will be good to go. Currently most of Google apps are not supported. Thankfully Google Maps works as I absolutely needed this to work as the Rand navigation software is not located in my country. I bought this to use away from USA and so far the most disappointing issue is that Rand disabled support for Google apps.
I will read widely and support you where I can.
I bought the Overdryve 7 a few days ago and there is literally NOTHING out there to help Root it, install a custom recovery, or how to install Google Play Services. I have tried rooting it with KingoRoot and King Root but to no avail. I haven't resorted to such generic methods to root anything since Towel root. This is why TWRP is essential to have.
Bump :fingers-crossed:
Edit: Please delete. Wrong thread.
Still nothing new
I have the Overdryve 7, and 8 Pro... hoping that someone out there much smarter than I has been working on this. Eager to make these thing earn their cost back.

download dr.fone and you can root i did on mine it works if not first time keep doing it will root overdryve 7 or 8
overdryve 8 pro, been rooted for a while now, but Id like to get the OTA updates that ive missed over the last year, and i keep hitting a snag on the OTA verifier...
/system/bin/install-recovery.sh has ben modified... sha1 doesnt match...
there was another file too, but when I rooted, SU made a backup of the other file so i just switched it and it passed SHA1 check.... but SU didnt take a copy of this file for back up...
any ideas? ive tried changing it to a .bak but then fails becuase file is missing....
anyone have a stock 8 pro, unrooted ever, that they can turn on just USB debugging and try to copy the file original file out for me thru ADB debug if possible?
Or anyone know the ile contents for that file on Android 5.1.1 build LMY49I/N8_1_0_170516_275
I wanted up load more detailed specs.... I also have the new OTA update zip, like I said it just goes too error tho because the install-recovery.sh file sha1 doesn't match because I have rooted, and SU remove root and factory reset do not return the original file
Oops file is here
I just wanna be able to install Google play store. Anyone have any luck.
