[Q] Gintonic 2.1 & Zombie kernel 1.6 still reboots - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi all,
I can't post on development, just wanted to thanks slide for Gintonic 2.1 & new kernel performance is up, yet i still experience random reboots on my X10 mini pro.
what I did: SEupdate, format SDcard, then root & xrecovery, then reset/wipe and install rom & kernel, so I'm sure it's clean install.
But I'm still experiencing reboots ...

Benoit

I have same problem in zombie panic kernel v 1.59 and v 1.61.
after i update to v 1.62, i don't had problem reboots. and everything it's ok.

Problem occurs usually when:
I use the phone for 10/15 minutes, that is running music or radio, or using the phone, like surfing and installing app from market.
I'll try the new 1.63 ...

Hi, No reboots for me 4 days into 1.63+2.1, I did similar process only difference is I use clockworkmod, someone else will have to confirm but I remember a while back all the roms where coming out with "no longer supporting xrecovery". As said dont know might be nothing but everyone seems to use clockworkmod now for flashing.
Sorry assuming you used xrecovery to flash rom since you mention installing it.

Well strangely, the update to 1.63 did it, no more reboot and I can even OC the phone ! It works great no reboot, even with wavy usage of GPS navigation with CoPilot live over the week end ! this is perfect !
I only have an issue with the radio FM app which is buggy : sound start on the hp instead of head phone, favorite station are not kept, frequencies are written in green on black which is not visible and RDS name is overlapping frequencies ...
Another issue, I'm still not able to fine tune auto brightness to have good reactivity when phone get out of standb by on shiny day it take 1/ 1.5 second for the screen to detect it need to boost lightness ... Same when I'm in a call and I want to use the keyboard to dial, it takes 1/1.5 second for the phone to adjust brightness... I've tried several tutorial from forum but it still have this small lag in brightness reactivity.
Other the phone is now perfect to me in 2.3.5 ! Thanks very much slade87 ! One note I don't like the boot animation some less shiny would have been welcome ...

Cool you got it all working, yes there where instabilities with cross ROM/kernels.
I like the new bootanimation but you can allways change it out if you dont..

[Q] errors on x10i

Hi all,
I've already posted on this issue but its still bugging me. I have the latest firmware, baseband and when I install the rom it works very good until the phone reboots after some time (this happens after fresh install is completed, not during installation), all apps like the market, gallery, phone, contact, all settings give errors and I get a pop up window for all of them and they all say force close. All other apps I’ve installed work fine with no errors. I reboot into xrecovery and do a wipe, clear cache and fix permissions and reboot but after a while it does it again so I keep going back to 2.1 which after playing around with 2.2.1 etc makes the x10 a better phone.
Is there anyone out there that can offer any kind of help ! PLEASE ! on this or is it just myself with this issue.
Thanks
You are not alone mate. 2.2 is always fantastic for me, at the start atleast. I end up getting pretty much the same as you, needs to be rebooted to become stable again.
The longer I leave 2.2 on my phone the more unstable it becomes.
I wander how others get there's to work. there gotta be away coz if it didn't work for everyone there would be more queries about it. I love my fone and i don't want to quit on it just yet.
If you are talking about using freex10, it requires a baseband .54, pls check on that revert back, i had used freex10 for about a week or two before moving to gingerbread, everything was working fine then for me.
Regards
E
I do have the latest baseband but it still bums out after about an hr or so. Even if i load a rom, don't restart and leave it overnight and when i awake i unlock the screen and i get the errors. i noticed when it tries to sync with mail i see the errors starting.
I mean gmail. could it be related to the gapps i install after installing the rom ?
Are you using gapps1901? I'm using those google apps with no problems at all....
I've tried different roms and they all end up the same, with errors. Can i use that gapps you mentioned with other roms ?

<testing J's CM7> [Q] Constant rebooting; was annoying, now critical - X10 unusable

<testing J's CM7> [Q] Constant rebooting; was annoying, now critical - X10 unusable
So I had an occasional spontaneous reboot problem which was annoying and inconvenient, but not crippling. Then I thought I'd fix it by upgrading my ROM.
Turns out I have no idea how to get xrecovery going (tried install through flashtool, through apk, etc., but no matter how many times I press "back" during the boot sequence, the SE logo always shows up to ruin my day) and that ruled out any newer, better ROMs.
So I used SEUS to "upgrade" back to 2.1.A.0.435 - still shaky.
This morning I tried the tweaks listed in the guide to flashtool (clean, optimize, etc.) and deleted every app that I don't think I need, but since I went to work, the battery has run out due to constant booting.
Sometimes I can check my SMS, and sometimes the screen turns on only to go dark for another reboot.
What can I do??
--EDIT--
So I got into xrecovery, now I must find a suitable ROM and cross my fingers...
--update--
11PM EST Mar 8: J's CM7 RC1 is running well so far, but I'll update after hours and days have passed.
10AM EST Mar 9: It has been running smoothly (and is a nice upgrade), but I've seen one spontaneous reboot
However, one is a lot better than every 5 minutes!!!
9:30AM EST Mar 15: I get a shutdown a few times a week, but I'm worlds better than before. GB is sweeet!!! Gonna wait for release 10 to upgrade.
Thanks J!!!!!
(and all those, such as Z, who made this ROM possible)
If I'm not the only one who failed to get xrecovery right, reply and I'll try to help!
Yea i've been having the same issue too, i found that it would reboot almost every 5 minutes when using the phone when i plug it in. especially when streaming youtube videos.
I tried multiple roms and also went back to stock rom by doing a repair. I was playing around with the fresh repair install and it is still rebooting.
Hopefully you have better luck with your device. I'm taking mine to rogers soon for a replacement.
I could find no pattern to my reboots. Sometimes I could use the thing for a while, and other times I'd hardly even see the screen before it quit.
I'm hoping FW is the answer because I got it used, so there is no hope of repair if flashing doesn't fix it...
I'm experiencing this reboot from J's latest CM7 rom with the custom kernel. Every 3 mins or so and the screen turn dark, no idea what to do.

I got it by installing the older vers of miniloader from the custom kernel dev thread but thanks! I'm doing a fresh install again with the instructions from the thread you linked.
I've had ENOUGH!Now I can't even charge it.It turns off after 5 minutes of recharging and then the battery discharges because of the constant reboots. So I've decided to try and start flashing and stuff(install custom roms).
Dfan can you please give me a few advices, pointings , etc... for what am I about to do?
Thank you for your time.
@OP, from what I have understood from your post, your phone has a fault before you have 'updated' using SEUS.
Try the 'repair' function in SEUS to restore everything into factory settings?
dude, stop using j's ROM till he fixes it. I recommend Trip's GB MiUI. make sure your phone is fully charges when installing a new ROM, or else you'll get boot loops, and FC's. once you have your xrecovery installed(I recommend manually install it) you should never have to reinstall it, unless you use SEUS.

both Tethering Dosn't Work here, neither USB not wifi :S
and another thing i noticed my Boot Animation is Still the same old Android and ...
When i lock the phone, Screenlock thingie there is no sound :S
any Suggestions
Your boot animation is still what?
v 2 has android eating apple...if your boot doesnt have that then you have failed flashing I guess.
I used v 2 for a couple of days, the wifi tethering worked, I didnt try usb tethering.
Back to v 1.2 for some reasons, especially the battery which I think last longer in the earlier version.
Regards
ok i re flashed the v2 patch, now i see the Droid Eating Apple, lmao'd there coz i was waiting to see it the 1st time but i just got the other default android thingie,
about the tethering,
1st time it says Wifi Hotspot Hosted but when my laptop connects to it, or i can say establishes connection to the hotspot it says Error on the Phone and the Tethering Icon Disappears.
i can ping to the phone but it dosn't send/receive anything :S
and wifi kinda gets bugged after this in the sense it connects to my wifi router but dosn't process any data, it uses EDGE to Send/Receive Data
ok its official Tethering dosn't work with v2 Some more ppl posted on the Official Thread so i guess its the kernel's fault coz some ppl have trouble with wifi too,
hope Franco implements a Update soon ;-D
Anyways thanks for the info @least my Boot Animation Changed xD
Hello!
I've been reading a lot about this new gingerbread and stuff.. I came to flash this rom after the official flashing... just because I wanted root and oc.
BUT, idk really why, some apps doesn't work right...
sadly, I didn't try to install this apps BEFORE flashing this ROM.
the apps are:
Jed (Japanese dictionary), this just crash after installing the dic files...
Kanji Recognizer, this is in a loop, you download the dic files over and over again...
It's weird, I thought first it was because of some problems with Japanese language and characters,,. but I've had to find other (not so good) apps for this matters... Also I've searched if somebody else had this problems with this app in Gingerbread but it seems that it's only me...
if somebody have any clue... please
Thanks!

[Q] Which is best ROM only for SPEEEEEEEED..???

I am using froyobread(v023c) & I am very satisfied with it thanks to developer(I already given thanks to all who made this ROM).
But It get stuck in between sometime & stop responding & also restart my phone many occasion, even my icon too not showing & loading very slowly.
This happens most when I am using internet or installing or uninstalling application.
& yes I forgot my gallery because whenever I open it, mini pro get very slow & also get reboot.
can anyone give me proper solution for this or it natural in custom ROM ??
If any best ROM for SPEED is there then please tell me (with process to install)??
If it's not a problem for you to run froyo, get the cyanocomb, Otherwise if you want the last 2.3.5 try the minicm 7 pro, but don't install too many things if you don't want to get some lags at all
i use cyanocream sandwich and its pretty fast

[Q] Royal Mess

Let me first explain what I did.
1. From stock rom, after doing the root (TWRP recovery), i flashed JellyDaemon v 2.0 listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2307247 . Used CPU control inbuilt in app to set CPU governer to OnDemand
Fantastic ROM with no problems.
2. After the news of 4.2.1 release came, I started looking for 4.2.1 based roms. I went with StarkHD listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212028 . I think my download went wrong and file wasn't downloaded cleanly. I flashed with it. Flash went on successful. Phone got hung at the boot animation. Tried multiple methods to start the ROM. No success. Phone not booting into any ROM.
3. I had stock rom v 0.16 available with so flashed it with SP flash tools. Flash was successful.
4. Downloaded Naturewiz HD listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2319288 . ROM flashed and phone booted. Restored the apps. Used battery calibration app to calibrate the battery. After this, noticed that every time phone went into standby, it won't wake after that and needed reboot. I thought it to be bug in the rom.
5. Downloaded 4.2.1 based rom listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306461 and flashed it. Flash was successful followed by successful TP upgrade. Installed everything. Same problem noticed. Phone won't wake from standby. Needed to be rebooted.
6. I figured it to be a CPU governer problem left over from JellyDaemon v. 2.0. So installed juice defender and set the CPU governer to OnDemand. Frequency of reboots has reduced but the problem still persists.
Problem: The phone does not wake up when put to standby for a duration of 2-3 hours.
Any solutions to this? There are no other problems I am facing.

Looks like you yourself gave an answer to your problem. Don't enable Ondemand. if you still getting the problem. take a video of your problem and try posting along with a link to the video (I am not sure whether it is allowed). this way it will be easy to know what the problem is... hope i helped..

Thanks for your reply. I will try your suggestion and see. In the meanwhile, I removed TWRP and flashed CWM 6.0.3.0 and fixed permissions with that. The phone did not reboot on its own for close to eight hours (which it was doing earlier at random). I thought problem was solved. But trying to go through contacts list (DW Contacts), phone rebooted on its own.
Can anyone tell me a method where you do a clean install and bring the phone to a factory fresh state. Something similar to tutorial by team overcome for galaxy tab. Frankly, that seems to be the only possible solution: Get the phone in a completely formatted factory fresh state and then install any other ROM.
SP flash tools
To get your phone to a default factory status. you have to flash the original rom using SP tools. Links to both can be found in the forum.
Finally, tired after numerous attempts, decided to take it to the service center. Asked them to update to 4.2.1. They had the same problem. After flashing, the phone just wouldn't boot past the boot animation.
They kept trying. After two hours, they gave it back to me saying there is a hardware problem which requires a main board change.
I had suspected all along and now I know I was right. I asked them about the time line. The answer I got was even more shocking. Minimum two weeks, but there are lots of hand sets awaiting main board since more than a month
I guess I am better off with current status (Ver .20 installed and rooted).
Seriously, this episode has seriously dented my faith in micromax as a brand. One can buy there phones and be happy with whatever has been packaged. Trying anything new can be dangerous.
