i am new to this forum so if i posted in wrong forum then kindly move it to proper section, dont trash it
i just purchased lenovo ideapad a1 from lenovo outlet here in china, now the problem is it is not having market place, i tried downloading the apk off the net and placed it in sd card and install from their, the app installed but it goes to home when it says a gmail account signin needed.
ps: my lenovo info:
model number a1_07
android version: 2.3.4
product name: lepad_a1_07
kernel version: 2.6.35.7
keeping in mind i am a newbie so help with some beginers info links will be greatly appreciated. also mention which process will void its warranty ?

I think I have the same lenovo, also bought in China. I just updated it to a version with the google apps like gmail and market
mine buildnumber started with A107W0_A234_001 and I found the update on a lenovo download site. Because I'm a new user I cannot post the link.
but google for A107W0_A234_001_999_2210_ROW.zip
Download the zip, put it on your sdcard and rename to update.zip
Power off the tab and then hold volume down and power button together and wait till the recovery mode starts.

i can help you in getting the rom which is open for google services on your a1, but i dnt know if the device is still rooted yet, if you know the way from some source of rooting lenovo a1 then do let me know as well.
As far as I know rooting isn't possible jet. There is no simple way of rooting android 2.3.4 only with replacing the firmware.
But as I posted before there is an update available with the google apps and market. It is also possible to put the tablet in english so no chinise GUI.

Try to use hidemyass.com and get your gmail apps. Sign it in. Then use online market with proxy to install the apps you need.
If it is not working, I don't know what to do anymore.

yes, i also tried searching alot but got no way to root the device yet.
my lenovo is under warranty, so by changing firmware will it void my warranty? if yes then here is my other question .. " how can i backup my existing roms".

i have successfully rooted the a1 as well, can you please direct me what can i do now ? like any tweaks i can do to this device? also another question what can i do to install every app to MY EXTERNAL SD CARD (which currently is a class 5 2gb card).

i have the 2gb version which was i think the last one piece on the outlet as they are pulling off this model (2gb) from sale, so let me ask you are you tight in budget? if yes then yes go for 2gb and get class 5 atleast card (as i have bought a card on which class 4 is mentioned and it came out to be a class 1 so my 70 rmbs are pretty much wasted, so you have to decide if you have money then get off this hassle and buy a 16 gigz else 2gb work great as well

I have a "C3 note 2" too, i want build stock rom for you, but when i create follow link your post, i can't find a file name "MT6577_Android_scatter.txt", i'm try find it in google but file i found not working, all menu check unavailable... can you help me find a correct file ?

i have the firmware for 4.1.1 took me days to find battering chinese web pages and sites with many dead ends, i bricked my c3 note 2 and now it lives again, take this into account tho, even tho firmware says 4.1.1, when clicking fast on it instead of the jelly bean game popping up, it comes up telling me its ics still, so maybe the chinese are faking the revision to sell more phones, either way its a never version than stock 4.0.9. can i post a link here to it, if not message me and i,ll link it to you.

Also, what do you see when you run Hardware Info (or other hardware apps)? I was told it's a 1.5GHz CPU, but mine reports 1GHz. SetCPU (and similar apps) show 1GHz is the max as well so I can't really overclock it...
I've been looking for anyone who is doing a JB ROM for it, but no luck so far.

I have just started making a rom for this tablet. Its going to be based on the stock rom, with all the crapware and bloat removed. And tweek it etc... just need a name I was thinking superfly? Not sure if used

Help needed from an old post
Hi all,
I've recently bought a Flytouch 8 for my young daughter, but the tablet seems to be stuck loading. It loads upto the android screen and seems to loop. I've tried to press and hold "power and menu" to no avail. I've even tried other buttons in the hope it'll work but still nothing.
I'm guessing that I need to reinstall the firmware but I have no idea how. Any help you could give would be appreciated!

So i just whant to show you how to root your mediapad 7 lite [S7-931u/S7-931w] in 5 easy steps!Enjoy!
1) Download Huawei MediaPad ROOT ICS Android 4.0.x.rar here:

2) Connect the tablet to your PC, install the driver.
3) In the settings of the tablet enable debugging by USB .
4) Unpack the archive.
5) Run the Install Root.cmd wait three reboots.

Thanks bobo for your simple and easy steps to root the device.
When I first got the tab, I was amazed by what can get at this price. But, after a little, I'm really disappointed by the limitation of the so few 2.3GB memory!
Currently I have a Huawei MediaPad 7 model S7-302u not get root access and made this process as indicated by this tool but it does not work any other option.

root script for Linux
Hey guys, thanks for this. I've taken the cmd script and rewrote it for Linux. So if anyone is a pure-Linux user (like myself), you can use this for rooting your Huawei Mediapad 7 Lite on Linux.
You need to have adb installed and in your PATH for this. I'm on Arch Linux, so the package is called adb-git, and it's available in AUR. I don't know about other distributions, but I'm sure Debian-based distros, such as Ubuntu, have either the adb package in their repositories, or something like "android-tools". On OpenSUSE, the package is called "android-tools", and it's in the official repos (AFAIK).
I haven't tested it on non-Arch distributions, but AFAIK it should work. You might need to be running systemd rather than initscripts (sorry rock-solid Linux users).
Just unpack the archive somewhere on your hard disk and run the "Install_Root.sh" script as root. It should do all the work for you.
Oh, and in order to unroot (or unbrick) it, it seems like "updating" your tablet with the official firmware works well.
Does anyone has some good news for our device?

i have a serious problem!
thanks my friend. that was easy.
but now i have a problem with my rooted s7-931u device. i dont know why whenever i use/ install hisuit driver, the ringtone of the device gets back to its original (irritating!) one. off course, the name of the ringtone in your device is the one you have chosen, but that does not ring and the original one is played. i have tried to not use hisuit but still when i install a new app or use Superuser app, the ringtone changes to its original one!!!
Please help me out! it's really going on my nerves now!
by the way, i forgot to make a ROM back up! oops. actually i tried but i couldnt. please tell me what to do.

Hi all!
I need some help to identify an Android Chinese phone, because I don't know the phone model and I need to replace the rom, the phone is too slow.
The battery said "S-9500", it is a 2800mAh. The back of the phone only said Model: S9500, GSM: 850/900/1800/1900Mhz four band/GPRS Mobile Phone. No more info, only the IMEIs for each SIM.

Im not so sure if this is what you want , But I would recommend MTK droid tools ,
The tool was built for chinese MTK based phones but can almost read every android phone basic board and software information like hardware , board , android version , kernel version and IMEI's ( I have used it to read some spreadtrum , samsung phones etc )
And if your phone has an MTK hardware then you can use the tool to back up your phone before you decide to flash another rom so as to be on the safe side if anything goes wrong .

Thanks! I will read all of them... I don't know if the phone is MTK or if it is Spreadtrum but I think it is spreadtrum because device manager list a "spread" or something like that, device.
You will be hard pressed to find anything but a stopped down ROM on a china based site. XDA doesn't support clone devices. Mostly due to GPL violations.

No, it's not in the wrong spot, you just don't read. You have an S9500, a chinese S4 knockoff.... http://bit.ly/1onfUNg If you READ, you have a Star S9500.... if you look REALLY hard, you'll see a support thread on XDA for your phone, I'll just give you a link to click blindly. Seriously, it took about 30 seconds to find out what your phone was, and where to get support using Google. It would have taken you longer to keep checking this thread than to actually look yourself.

We all know that feeling when we suddenly realize our very expensive flagship phone has become a dinosaur. Maybe I'm sentimental or maybe I'm cheap, in either case, I need to bring my trusted S5 active out of the dark ages.
Here's the thing: I switched to Cricket wireless even though as you all already know my device is from there parent company At&t, they won't push the firmware updates to my phone... I'm clueless as to why (they own both companies), so it is still running Android 4.4.4. This hasn't been a problem for me until today. I went to try to live stream Clash Royale to YouTube's live gaming platform and I was abruptly met with a meteorite slamming down from outer-space onto my poor ancient tech.
To make a long story short, At&t offers the latest update for the phone but I don't have access to it. So if someone can please share some modern firmware with me I'd be exceedingly grateful. I have already checked all the usual sites with no luck. It seems the only firmware available in the entire expanse of the world wide web is android 4.4.2.
Grrr!!!! I've been searching all day to no avail. It is so frustrating.

Hello everyone!
I just got a Galaxy S5 Active SMG870A running Android 4.4.2 which originally was from ATT.
I live in Brazil so I use a different company.
I would like to change the language from English US to Portuguese BR. I tried to use morelocale2 but it requires a Root acess.
Read a lot of stuff and tried Kingoroot, towelroot, oneclickroot etc... No success so far....
Could anyone please help this novice?
