[Q] Download mode drivers

Ok, got a usb jig and can get into download mode no problem. I can't get phone to be recognized as anything other than an unknown device. Tried the samsung usb drivers as well as the adk drivers. 2 different pc's and 3 different cables. I am running CM7 and I want it back to factory so I can flash something that will allow me to save my family in the event of a fire. Odin never recognizes the phone. Is there someone who has went back to stock from cm7 on a vibrant and could provide me with the proper drivers?
Thank you!
What I did is I downloaded kies mini ince installed on the PC. Plug in the phone and it will download the required drivers for your phone. Once its completed power offthe phone get into download mode and turn on Odin. It should work. Worked for me

Device manager right click on (!) Install drivers. Browse my comp...find the driver folder and install. Hope this helps.

Yeah, Kies Mini is a very easy and effective method of installing Samsung Drivers. OP, I suggest you try it.

Does your phone connect normally via USB to the computer ? completely uninstall and re-install via a fresh download of KIES. Clear your Temp, %Temp% and prefetch folders. Check if the cable is faulty or not. One of these is bound to help you.
I have tried reinstalling keis and done everything i can think of but nothing seems to help. Before the update of kies my phone used to be able to connect via usb like normal ever since the update its all gone to pot

First of all, I must say that KIES is one of the worst pieces of software I have ever seen. It is buggy and you must hope it will work eventually.
I got one successful with my old phone (galaxy 551) after updating via ODIN first to the correct firmware for my country.
But with my current Galaxy S2 I had to go to the repair center who used ODIN to get the right version on my phone.
I now have made KIES work on my windows 7 machine. I had to install the UK version (not the country version) and used the connection problem wizard to reinstall the drivers. Now it says I have the current version of my firmware.
To go back to your problem. It would help if you post which OS you are on and which version of the firmware you have currently installed ?
Also have you USB error detection off in the settings of your Galaxy S2 ?

Kies hangs on the installer

Hi,
got a S3 since a few hours and KIES doens´t install on my X64 machine.
It just hangs in the installer.
Any suggestions?
thanks a lot, nearly
Make sure your S3 isn't plugged into your PC at the time. For some reason Kies wouldn't install for me while my S3 was plugged into my computer. Hope this helps...
Yep. Don't use it! Use Odin to flash firmware.

Hi,
i got my S3 as a Media device now. How can i copy files to it? It doesn´t let me.

My Kies installation looped on 'Installing hotfix'. I just pressed cancel and it continued the installation. And it works fine afterwards as well.

SAMSUNG USB Drivers
You can use the SAMSUNG USB Drivers instead of Kies.

This is because of java - I can't remember which way round it is, but you either need to install it, update or uninstall it to get Kies to go past hotfix. I think its install
It's a common problem!

Try this thread. The OP is a few months old & there maybe more up to date drivers available now (have you hooked your phone up to your PC & run Windoze Update ?) but it's a start & only thread I know of on here off the top of my head that has a link to drivers on their own. Most people install Kies to get the drivers.
So...What I'd do is this:-
1) Hook phone up to PC & run Windoze Update & see if it installs drivers. Basically, if your phone & PC can see each other (you get the yellow highlight in ID:COM in Odin or you're able to transfer files to/from your phone/PC), you don't need to do the next two steps.
2) If your phone/PC still can't connect to each other after 1), get Kies from Samsung's website & install it.
3) Still no joy after 2) ? Install the drivers from that thread I linked you to.
If you're running Win7, the drivers normally auto install when you hook your phone up to your PC via USB. Older versions of Windoze might require one/both of the other steps.

Yes sir. My windows 7 pc can detect my samsung. So does it mean i dont need kies. Also i transferred music and videos into it. So there would be no problem with odin? Thanks thanks thanks

i9100m not recognized by my computer after root

I rooted my i9100m a couple of months ago and after the rooting process it wasn't recognized by my computer. I didn't really care much though. Well now I do, so I unrooted my phone yesterday by flashing the stock ROM but it still didn't work with my PC. I really hope that my phone isn't broken. Any suggestions? I have reinstalled the samsung kies drivers, tried different usb ports/cables and multiple computers with no luck...

I guess there is a problem with SGS2's USB connector. Try cleaning it with a toothbrush and it may work. Seems crazy, but worked for me and lot of other guys. I came to know about this on XDA...
