Kernel needs standard bootanimation support, or somewhere there's a bootanimation.qmg file you need to change, I don't remember where.
Standard bootanim support will come eventually... But there's a bunch of more important things for kernel devs for the time being.

you can also use chainfire's live logcat/dmesg if you want a verbose boot instead.

Original Android boot animation.

I have been searching for two days for this, both here and elsewhere, so forgive me if it's been right under my nose and I failed to find it.
I am trying to find the stock Android boot animation that began with, I believe, Cupcake. That is, the Android logo in a sort of blue-hued metallic texture. I want this for my Droid. If anyone knows where I can find this, given Droidboots is ****ed, I'd be very thankful.
completely removing the "bootanimation.zip" will default you to the "stock" android boot animation
What are the chances that I would be looking for the exact same boot animation? I haven't had any luck either.

+1. Go into /system/media, at least that is where it is on the heroc, with a file manager, root explorer is a fine choice, and delete the file named bootanimation.zip. reboot and enjoy the classic goodness.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Froyo-on-Hero action here!

Yup this works.
Even works on Sense ROMs.
It must be built in default when no customized carrier one exists.
Where do I get a copy of the default / classic "Android" boot animation?
Can someone post it on here?

I made default-look bootanimation in UOT kitchen. Look for "Android original"
THANK YOU SO MUCH I WANNA BE YOUR SEXY SLAVE 4EVER! hrhnick
for custom roms it should be in /system/media if you cant find it there use root explorer's search function to find it
Worked in 2019...thanks!

Need help removing the carrier logo at the start up.

hi everybody,
i want to get rid of the carrier logo when i start my x10.
i searched on the forums for this topic but every phone has different file format for this. so not sure to use those other methods.
i also tried to get rid of it by deleting last few files in etc\semc\chargemon. this didnt work either.
i do not want to modify it but just remove the carrier logo.
i have a rooted x10.Please help.
Generally a carrier logo means you have a branded phone, be it orange, vodafone etc etc. Anyway the easiest way to get rid of this is to install a global generic firmware, i believe Bin4ry and jerpelea have a thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
i think its that one
hope this helps
Just delete the bootanimation.zip from media and you'll have the default Android logo.

Hello, I'm completly stock, how can I remove it.
Hi I have a Sony xperia z3 compact which shows the O2 symbol on start up & shutdown. I've read this forum that says delete the bootanimation. Zip from system/media but I'm afraid I can't find system/media. My phone isn't rooted does it have to be? I have file Explorer but I don't see this file pathway. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

[Q] No bootanimation at all.

Hallo people,
i have a question about bootanimation. Mine isn't working at all.
Does anybody no how to get it working again? Have all the original files in the right places. May it be that i've deleted something when i was deleting some systemapps and bloatware, does bootanimation needs anything like an app or something? Also i changed the build.prop for showing no bootanimation, but offcourse i turned it back.
I'm on stock KPH, rooted, Coolya kernel, CRT animation enabled if any of this maybe important.
Thnx a lot in advance.

Not yet, and don't think i'm going to do that for just bootanimation.
Hoped it could be easily and quickly done, but if that's not going to happen then i will take this for granted (CRT and everything else is working fine and thats what i wanted)

[MOD] Enabling bootanimation.zip Compatibility in stock ROM + Extras

Here is my guide on how to enable the use of standard bootanimation.zip files in the galaxy s5
First you must be rooted with custom recovery. either CWM or TWRP will do.
1. Download THIS FILE Credit to anbech
(THIS FILE disables the above action.)
2. Flash the above file, reboot. done
3. Add the zip file of the animation you want to //system/media with the permissions RW-R--R-- Make sure to rename the zip file bootanimation.zip after you download it
This should let your phone use the bootanimation.zip files that stock android ROMs use (Tested on GM900f 4.4.2)
NOTE, this only covers the booting up animation. the ROM will will still use shutdown.qmg to do a shutting down bootanimation.
Again all credit for this goes to anbech the following posts ill be adding my collection of ZIPS.
Boot Animations
downloads removed until new ones found

reserved 3
Thanks for this! It was working great with 4.4.2 but doesn't seem to anymore on 4.4.4. The screen remains black during bootup.

Thanks for trying tofox the links, but I'm still getting the same message on Google drive. The only one I'm really interested in is the galaxy s3 boot.
Anyone know if there is a fix for this on 4.4.4? I get the black boot screen when I use it too.

I had it in the right place, system/media, but it would just boot a black screen. Idk man....I was able to change the .qmg files and the .ogg files and get it to work though, so I'm content with it. Thanks

remember the qmg files will no longer fucntion if the flash worked. so if you flashed and are somehow getting qmgs to work, then something went wrong. are you rooted?

Boot splash logo ---wip---

HERE you can see "program" I've made to change splash logos on older lg series..
I wanted to change one in LG G4 but my time and resources are limited and could use little help with this updated device...
I know there has been models released since and this phone hasn't got the big buzz about it anymore but I was hoping to get it done with help of some pioneers of the device..

Sorry to summon but could use help in pointing me to location of splash and if known the magic bytes explanation.. :good:

The m8 . on the go atm but I see in hex its a bunch of core images file?
Where on device does it reside ? I need to get mine out and compare for sake of "magic" and offsets..
Looks like lg standard format but will have to boot PC to see it really.. We should be able to make a change but depends on location really.. This time I think I will try aroma zip to make changes xD

Got one few weeks ago n changing ROMs as much as it goes trying to find one I like not a single issue yet... Found the evil thing gets red hot if screen any more than dim during charge and if CPU at max overclock n heavy operation..
In theory changing images that he posted to smaller less complicated ones would work towards saving the device as less code processed on every boot..
I hate the bootloader unlocked notif..

You can get your partition from device by:
HTML:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p45 of=/storage/9016-4EF8/raw_resources
Replace /9016-4EF8/ part with your micro sd's card name.
And on mmcblk0p46 is raw_resourcesbak.
But I doubt that 'bootloader unocked' notification get any relation with boot logo.

If I understand your question:
Never see any changes on bootsplash, with several stock/customs kernel/roms.
Only 'ulocked bootloader' after regular unlocking, but raw_resources don't contain this words.
But on 000800 start order of images with:
lglogo_image; next is:
powered_android_image
quick_lglogo_image
load_charger_image
recovery
backup_restore
etc

Hmm might need to dig into dev tree of this thing to find out where does it call the text about bootloader from..
As for the logo partition it seems some new modified lg version of rle packing
Basically its a multi rle(maybe tiff rle now that I think about it...) partition with padding. pulled from device comes out at 4mb
Yes we can see there is few images there and in this order but where does one start and finish and another start n finish etc is still mystery.. thought maybe bytes after the iamge name are pointing to offsets but don't seem to be able to make sense of it
@IGGYVIP
Hey. Don't know if you're still looking into this, but thanks anyway.
I guess it's more of a luxury than a need, but it would be nice to remove that unlocked warning. I would certainly donate if you succeeded.
I assume this would apply to all LG models.
Perhaps we could start a bounty. Though I don't have G4 but V20 and V10.
