Please HELP!! - Xperia Play Android Development

I tried to fastboot the doomkernel, followed by zerorom, and it's stuck in a perpetual bootloop. I tried restoring via recovery, but it hasn't help. I tried re FB'ing the original boot.img, but that didn't help either. Anyone?
EDIT: And NOW, it will ONLY boot into recovery...which is just bizarre. Please someone help. I swear I hate this thing, lol.

Thats not bizzare Infact it's the whole purpose of recovery lol use flashtool to flash a stock rom or try flashing stock kernel.sin from fastboot

That's the problem. I can't do fastboot now, it keeps rebooting the phone into recovery. I don't have a chance to searchbutton>plug in usb. Even when I load the battery and press power, it loads the recovery. Is there even an OS on my phone now? lol Does anyone have a flashable stock rom?

I'm new to the Xperia scene. Just got mine two days ago, and have latest stock UK firmware, plus DoomLord's latest kernel, so I'm no expert...
Why don't you try removing the battery first, then plug in the USB cable, hold search button, and reconnect battery?

Exactly what I was going to suggest. But I personally would flash a clean install via flashtool first, and start again.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App

And where can I get a clean install? Do I just flash it in fastboot like everything else?

there is a fastboot image somewhere in the forum. but personally, i'm a fan of downloading the ftf versions of the firmware and flashing via flashtool. you familiar with this method in any way? there is also a website called watonserver, which has many versions of firmware, which you may find easier and less hassle than flashtool.
then once you have a freshly installed phone, you can try to do whatever you want again from the start

Oh man you could be my key to success! I have a file called R800x_FullStocknosimlockta_Verizon.ftf but how would I flash it via the flashtool? Is that the same thing as fastbooting something? (fastboot flash boot YOURFILENAME.img, etc)
EDIT: in re-reading your post, I'm guessing that fastboot and flashtool are not the same thing. I'm not familiar, but eager to learn.

If a file ends in .ftf or .sin you flash via flashtool. A program commonly used for the x10 and flashes to the phone in flash mode (led lot up in green)
And files ending in .img are flashed with fastboot (cmd command) with phone in bootloader mode (blue led)
EDIT: what model phone you using? the R800x?

This is not entirely true.... .sin files can be flashed with fastboot as well because they are essentially just images themselves: fastboot.exe flash boot kernel.sin
Sent from my R800x using XDA App

But for simplicity, I like to keep .sin files to flashtool. Especially as there is so many of them!! plus, you don't need bootloader unlocked to flash .sin via flashtool.

Yes I'm using the R800X. If there's a way to completely install a new firmware/OS, then that's what I'd like. As soon as it is plugged in to the usb cable, it goes straight to recovery.
EDIT: Okay doing no battery-hold search>plug in>reinsert battery worked. Now I'm in fastboot mode (blue LED) now give me something(s) to flash which will get me back to stock, minus the bootloader. I'd like the bootloader to stay locked, lol. R800X.

So okay I got it to go to the "Sony Ericsson" Splash screen but then it just sits there. Should I flash system.sin as well? Would this help or hinder?

probably a good idea, yeah. if that fails, try a full restore with a complete ftf package via flashtool

help! my mini pro stucked on sony ericsson logo

hey guys, this is my first time i would say i bricked my phone. i need someone to help me my phone has been in 'coma' for nearly 2 days now.
so this happened when i try to apply this mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306044 and after i carelessly copied framework-res.apk to system/framework using root explorer without setting the correct permissions, my phone automatically shuts off and try to restart but it failed, it stucked on the big sony ericsson logo and 'sony ericsson' text.
i have pull out the battery hundred times and try to reboot my phone normally but it didnt worked it still stucked on the sony ericsson logo.
so can anyone help me please...
what tools/application should i get to fix this?
first of all, i dont want to wipe/lose/factory reset my phone memory data because that would make my phone contacts gone which i never ever want to happen. so please is it possible to backup my contacts somewhere else if wiping is the answer at least??
okay i took a lot of time to type this and hoping someone give me an answer
Hi, what is your model no? and you rooted it?
Sent from my ST15i using xda premium
i use sk17i mini pro as mentioned above and yes it is obviously rooted
Congratulations, you have felt the power of customizing Android for the first
Actually, one way to fix this now, is to get back to fully stock firmware.
The second way would be to unlock bootloader, install a custom kernel, enter recovery and use Fix Permissions option. Unfortunately, not all Recoveries have this, only some versions of ClockworkMod Recovery. I have used many kernels on my LWW and only some of these included this option and I can't remember which one had, which not.

If contacts is too important for you and you have no backups, then go for the 2nd way - Unlock bootloader and install a custom kernel, which offers the Fix Permissions option.
I will check the Update Service, if Repair option will erase user data or not, currently updating my phone.
EDIT: Yes, removes all data.

If you can access flashmode, then your okay. Just flash stock firmware.
Will check Flashtool option.
Yep, you're correct, Flashtool has option to not wipe user data.

"Follow this guide External rooting guide but in steps 5 and 12 instead of "rootxperia.zip" use "mini_mod_v1.8.zip". Once you have phone fully booted I suggest to install CWM recovery mode (you probably don't have it now) - CWM installation file - run install-cwm1.cmd and follow the onscreen instructions. Then you will be able to enter CWM recovery via volume down button during booting."

Actually, i think you could've salvaged your phone without the need of flashing it... If you had access to CWM, you could've put framework file into zip file and flash it with CWM. It helped me once when i got stuck in bootloop after failed installation of a mod

its very easy to recover your phone if you got bootloop or stuck at sony ericsson logo. dont sweat.
first of all you need a stock .ftf firmware downloaded. any .ftf stock firmware .58/62/42 or whatever as long as it is stock.
then download and install flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351309
then put your downloaded .ftf firmware at c:/program files/flashtool/firmwares/"your downloaded .ftf firmware"
then open flashtool and click on the lightning icon. and choose flashmode.
then press volume down button, while you do that connect your phone to pc using usb then flash the firmwares. then boom your phone back to life

[Q]Boot Loop in E10

Hi,
I checked the forum and try those and it didnt work.
This is the story. i try to install a custom rom to my friend's xperia x10 mini. I unlocked the bootloader. Rooted and installed a kernel Jelly Bean Mini projects kernel. Also install the apk for CWM. After i flash the JB Mini Kernel i stuck at the JB Mini logo. Entering the CWM does not worked. Then i paniced and flashed the custom kernel. Then this time it is not opened only stuck at the SE logo. After that E10i_2.1.1.A.0.6_Sony Ericsson.ftf firmware and flashed via flash tool. This time is stuck in the boot logo loop. It didnt give a chance to flash another kernel again. Opening and resetting again. ALso PC Companion Repair doesnt work because it get disconnect on doing it.
Also i tried home screen and power button to reset and then try to flash mode and it didnt allow me to do it. Do you guys any suggestion. How can i get rid of it and get back to normal.
All helps will be appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you're talking about the right model phone, the Xperia Mini and Xperia x10 Mini are different phones. If you have the x10 Mini, then fastboot won't work at all.
Yes, CWM is available by repeatedly pressing the back-button when the kernel-logo shows, and it is included in ALL custom kernels for the x10 mini, just not on stock, so if you flash a custom kernel it is already available without any further action on your part.

Unlocked the bootloader and installed jb mini.kernel and stucked on boot.logo. Then I flash custom kernel again now its stuck.on.boot logo like a loop. Seus repair wont work because it disconnects simultaneously. Also flashing a kernel didint work either. I hope somebody helps me to recovery the device. After that somehow I can install custom rom.
Thanks. I really appreciated.

Yes, the JB kernel requires you to format the /system, /data and /cache partitions in CWM on first boot, otherwise you get stuck, and you'll be unable to install the JB ROM. (Mind you, if it's version 4 of Stelios97's JB Kernel, that's been reported as not working at all)
(Not sure if you're doing your friend a favour with JB just yet, not if she wants to use her phone like she does now, you might be better off with MiniCM7)
Make sure your batter has a decent amount of charge in it, and try to flash this with flashtool, it's stock firmware that should get the phone back working properly.
After that, you can try again with the custom kernel and ROM.

my baseband is : M76XX-TSNCjoLYM-53404015

android v : 2.1.1.A.0.6.
i successfully rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader using flashtools 0.9.8.0.
but my problem is when ever i try to flash custom kernel i get this error
Code:

i tried all custom kernel including nAa-13, nAa-14, nAa-ics,nAa-jb. everything fails and i get my phone semi bricked with phone reboots and all i get is white screen and LED glows White.
then i use SEUS to flash back to stock rom. i did this for almost 20times so far everytime it fails....

my baseband is : M76XX-TSNCjoLYM-53404015
firmware : 2.1-update1
android v : 2.1.1.A.0.6.
i successfully rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader using flashtools 0.9.8.0.
but my problem is when ever i try to flash custom kernel i get this error
Code:
ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="MEMORY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="HASH_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Failed to init erase";
i tried all custom kernel including nAa-13, nAa-14, nAa-ics,nAa-jb. everything fails and i get my phone semi bricked with phone reboots and all i get is white screen and LED glows White.
then i use SEUS to flash back to stock rom. i did this for almost 20times so far everytime it fails....

I hope you chose flashmode when flashing and not fastboot?
SmG67 said:
After that, you can try again with the custom kernel and ROM.

hmmmzzz, sounds like your battery is empty... leave it to charge, preferably from the wall-charger.
It *should* turn on, show the white Sony Ericsson text and then a battery...

If the ftf i sent you flashed without problem, you have the latest firmware from sony, so SEUS can't update your phone from that. What does it do when you connect it to the wallcharger?

Do you know what is the problem here?

Busted ZU screen - how to factory reset without touchscreen?

The Ultra took a spill and now the screen is cracked:crying:. Screen still works but touch is dead. Luckily I bought the accidental replacement warranty though Sony.
I want to factory reset the phone before sending it back to Sony but without the touchscreen working how can I do this? Phone is stock on 4.3. My other androids had a volume/power button combination to get into the factory recovery to do a reset. What can I do?

Fastboot let's us flash certain things from a computer. Same with Flashmode.
- Fastboot = Turn your Ultra off and hold VOL UP while you plug it to your computer. A blue LED will light up.
Flashmode = Same as fast boot, but hold VOL DOWN. The LED will blink once and then it'll look "dead", but it is in flashmode.
Fastboot is mostly used when we flash boot.img and stuff like that, while flashmode is used when we flash stock FTF ROMs using Flashtool on the computer. If you want to go back to complete stock, install Flashtool on your computer, download a stock Sony ROM (FTF) and flash it by kicking it into Flashmode.
Are your bootloader unlocked? If yes, click the BLU button in Flashtool and re-lock your bootloader. If it's not unlocked then just flash a stock ROM and you're done.
Can you give us some more info? What ROM are you currently on? Unlocked bootloader? Rooted?
I'm in bed now so I can help you tomorrow if you need some help.

Seriously helpful post dude! Thanks!
So I found the flashtool instructions from this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
My phone is bone stock .290 4.3. Never unlocked bootloader, rooted, or anything. Just stock.
Once I install Flashtool and the corresponding drivers I just flash the stock ROM on the phone, and thats it? That doesn't mess with the bootloader or TA partition, or any of that stuff?

Correct. That's the only thing you'll have to do. The TA partition is intact since you didn't unlock the bootloader. Flash the ROM and you're done. You probably want to do a full wipe (delete all personal stuff), so be sure that the three boxes under WIPE (in flashtool) are checked

What does the LED do while you boot the ZU?
I would just flash jackie099's kernel and restore the backup from there - I cant see how flashtool would be failing except for a problem on the PC

Download this: https://mega.co.nz/#!Vh8xEZYR!HwGosI...VlhUObM0NdNrPg
Make sure your phone is turned off.
Start Flashtool and click the lightening bolt at the top left and select 'FASTBOOT MODE'.
You should now see a new window of flashtool titled FASTBOOT TOOLBOX.
Plug in your phone while holding the Volume Up button
Back on flashtool: To the far right where it says 'By DOOMLORD', just below that the second option is 'Select Kernel to Flash', click it.
Browse for the .IMG file that you downloaded from the top of this post(which is the boot file for your phone to boot and let you into recovery).
Change the file type that's listed next to File Name at the bottom of the browse window, to .IMG
Select the .img file and it should flash automatically and tell you to check the log list shown right in flashtool before rebooting. If you don't see any errors then go ahead and unplug your device and boot it and try going into recovery.
You should be good to go now.

I think "invalid argument" normally happens on a locked bootloader???

can't boot into recovery mode

Hello XDA! this is my first post here. Though i have been reading it for a long time and and i am very helpful to this site for all help it provides.
this is first time i have to post because i couldn't find any solution after two days of searching around.
I have a sony xperia Z2 (D6502) and i was trying to root that thing. i unlocked the bootloader using Sony's official guide. But i can't root it. i consulted a guide at android.gs which told me to just download superSU.zip and boot into recovery, and install zip from there.however i just can't boot into recovery.
All the guides for booting Z2 into recovery say that -
1) Switch off the phone
2) Switch on, when notification led lights up, press volume up or down a few times.
But -
when switching on, notification lights of my phone never light up.it just shows a Sony logo, followed by a Xperia Logo and boot animation.
even the adb boot recovery method does not work. phone just does a complete restart. thats it.
Do i even have a recovery installed on my phone? i got no idea.
Yeah You have to flash recovery first. Maybe it is better to flash DoomKernel, he is explaining how in his post. So it should not be to difficult

well, i have certainly tried that.
i downloaded all of files but when i put in first code in command prompt
"fastboot flash boot boot.img"
all it says is <waiting for device>
and the wait never ends,
Follow these steps and try
Flash the custom recovery again using odin and when the reset button appears in odin window at the same time press the volume up and down both and hold till it get to the recovery menue

Maybe not booting the phone in fastboot mode?
OP, if you haven't already you should install flashtool, link here that I used last night https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByK8JL7P6wDTMXRvcTdjMzVuNFk/edit
You'll need the drivers to go with it, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830
I went through all this last night. Unlocked bootloader fine. Used fastboot to install DooM's adv stock kernel but the rom I was on was stock 255 and kernel was for 402 so I was getting a black screen. I think the easiest thing for me would have been to fastboot on the 255 kernel but I wasn't thinking straight, used flashmode to put on a stock 402 rom and then used fastboot to put on the 402 kernel, finally got into recovery.
Man, this is much more work than doing a Samsung phone!
It might be the point! OP try what he said!

You can't root through flashtool, you only need it to get the kernel w/recovery on it. Then install supersu from recovery.

Are you sure that your bootloader is unlocked successfully ? Some career is not allowing you to unlock the bootloader. Can't think about other reason. Maybe try reinstall driver... Or maybe another method is avaliable for D6502
OFcourse. Nexus is easier... As it is made for development.

my bl is locked and my recovery worked fine until after x amount of restarts and now it will not let me back in.
Hi all, there are a few poeple on here with the same problem. The link is for the dual recovery thread. I assume everybody is on .314 and that is what everybody has? The problem is being looked into. I'm also looking for a solution. I did have it installed before updating to .314 so I'm gonna wait till a solution is found before re-installing. Apart from clean installing .314 and re-installing dual recovery I can't think of a solution off the top of my head. I was posting back and forward with someone last night who had tried re-installing dual recovery, but to no avail. Hence the reason I'm gonna wait. Hope this helps a bit peeps:fingers-crossed:
Yes on 314. I was thinking of.flashing a old fw onto phone before.dual recovery again but this issue has been around for months and I really need to update my rom
All I want is to be in recovery mode on stock fw 314.
When I turn my phone off and start it and waiting for the lightbar to show up for me to press either volume up or volume down several times to get into recovery mode, but my lightbar never light up and the sony loggo comes up and the phone starts normal.
I have also tried to go into recovery mode through my PC with USB debugging and ADB on on my phone and using an script and the phone just starts normal.
I have also tried an app called Quick Boot from Google Play but the phone starts normal.
My Phone:
Bootloader unlocked.
Rooted: Yes
FW: Stock 314. (I dont want any other than stock FW)
ok I fixed mine, recovery did not support partition upon boot hence why it did not load
I'm facing the same problems on .438 with an unlocked BL. Button presses doesn't work and the LED doesn't glow during boot anyway.
EDIT: Stupid question but is recovery lost after a FTF flash? Anyway, I solved my problem by running the XZDualRecovery installer.
