quite boring on go launcher ex
For keyboards like swype, search for custom HTC rom's - a lot of these rom's are only
modified stock installations from htc, and have the swype.apk in apps folder - extract it and install it
BUT:
This is illegal ... only as a small foot note here. its not allowed to use it in other phones,
you cant provide it in other phones in a custom rom.

I'm just waiting 2 receive my new mini and I don't have much experience yet with it since I have been using HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 so far.
Could you share your experience with various launchers, i.e. which one do you prefer and why?
I would need something simple with most important widgets like contacts, browser, weather etc.

ADW is best.... Have many options and costomization
Helix is also good
Helix is very Stable and good
I have had many Force Stops with ADW
I use Helix. Simple and fast (And they say it increases your battery life).
BTW, Anyone knew how to make the app drawer transparent? The black background? I still want to see my wallpaper when I'm opening the app drawer (my wallpaper is Droid eating apple)
i tried EVERY launcher out there...the conclusion: ADW is the best for me;
astonishing customization, very good speed, stability and battery consumption and the only one so far with the ability to turn every application or widget in a useful icon; for example you can put a "smart search" icon on your bottom dock bar...indispensable for me.
maybe not to many themes for now though
Try Zeam 1.5.1 (for Donut).
It's simple, fast, efficient and just does the job

There is no need to remove it.
Simply restart your phone and a pop-up will appear to choose the launcher you want.

Yeah open home works on 2.2.1 unrooted but there is other launchers out there with better features.
try looking at
ADW launcher EX < paid app
Go launcher EX < its free and not too dissimilar from ADW
LauncherPro Plus < paid but has really good built in widgets

sorry, but i use ADW Lancher EX, and sometimes Launcher pro plus.
i will search a theme though, for open home.
BTW, if you want your phone to have the look of windows 7, there are two options,
1. use desktop visualizer with custom icons. (you can find a lot of icons in the thread android themes in android developmnt n hacking forum)
2. you can use widgets named "7 home widget" and "7 media widget".
if i found a theme for open home, i will do upload it here.
It is working on the Wildfire but the text is too small and the icons in the bottom of the screen are a bit offscreen
I don't think it is meant to be run on a QVGA phone
What is the best launcher in your opinion ?

It does not feel as fast and smooth as LP for me :\
Do you have the APK file ? Is is 100% clean of viruses and spyware (if it is, can you PM it to me please ? )

If you're still on GB, then use ADW EX.

Im currently using Nemus Launcher and i love it. Prettt smooth and the graphics are nice. Its kind of new, but it have all the features that you are going to need. It gets updated regulary, so the devs are still working with it.

You have to open the app drawer then hit then hit the menu button on your device then edit, now you should be able to drag/drop apps from the drawer onto the dock

Nope, just "Add page" / "Add folder"
In app drawer select edit from menu and drag the icon u want place on the dock in the dock area or change the number of dock icon from preferences/dock settiings.
Tw launcher is the smoothest for me, but it doesn't have landscape mode and hasn't been uptdated since ages ago so i switched to nemus... it would be great to have the best of both!

If it doesn't let you drag/drop then go into TWlauncher settings and go into Dock and change the icon count to 4, by default its on 1 I think, then restart & save and it should work

when my phone was in CM7 i used ADW launcher it was great
in CM9 i use nova launcher
I have been using Go Launcher lately. I really like the app drawer layout!
My friend has given me his Samsung Galaxy Ace to root it and use a custom ROM, but which Launcher allows me to change the name of the app so it's easy for him to know which app is what

Most custom launchers allow you to change the name of an app on the home screen.
ADW Launcher (Google Play)
Holo Launcher(XDA)
are a couple of ones. (holo launcher can be laggy for some people, never lagged for me though.)
Skins and folders
1. iPhone Go Launcher EX Theme - free
iPhone Go Launcher EX Theme is a beautiful free theme for the excellent Go Launcher EX skinning and home-screen replacement system. All the default icons, dock and wallpapers are in place to provide an authentic iPhone feel. It doesn't have as many icons as other themes here, which is a shame but everything else looks perfect.
