I just got my photon two days ago. By the way i miss my evo 4G.
Here is the main concerned in this mopho is doesn't work 3G at all. Any one can help me would be great appreciate

What do you mean your "3G doesn't work"? It won't register in 3G areas? Your speeds are crappy?

Have you tried updating your profile? And are you in a 3G area?
Update your profile and prl. Also see if your wireless network is set to automatic.

Gray doesn't mean you don't have 3g. It means that you are not syncing with google.
They are in the process of upgrading the towers in certain areas i had the same problem and they told me about the tower upgrades in my zip when i called tech support. So it is more than likely that just eait it out a day or two my speeds doubled once they finished last night.

I always use 3g soo....don't say 3g don't work...it depends what radio u use

no i have full bars 4g Pomona ca.
4G in Orange County.
4G no issues in West LA. Been downloading apps too, and its going blazing fast as normal 4G should.
4G is fine here in Lakewood.

The PRL is the Preferred Roaming List, it tells your phone which towers to connect to. You may need to return to stock if the ROM youre using has had the DM agent removed.
Ive read on another xda thead about this that its increasing peoples sprint cell signal. Cant remeber where i saw though.

That is possible but only in areas where Sprint has put up new towers since the. Last PRL update.

Ive seen a little bit of a difference. Prior to updating, i had 518 radios since they gave me the best data rates with the 21080 or whatever prl, with the new prl i switched back to the 530 radios. I had 1 bar getting 500kbs down/300kbs up. Ive noticed here in northern AL, even with 1bar its still.decent.

the "bars"are for voice connection and have no relation to data connection. ie you can have 0 bars and strong data and get fast speeds or full bars with crappy data

I live in central jersey... And I don't really make phone calls to know but while texting or Web browsing I just lose signal

It could be network upgrades.
I have been having the same issue here in Salt Lake. The Sprint store tells me it is tower upgrades in my area. I take that with a grain or 2000 of salt but it may be true.

On AT&T you can have signal drop if you use a non 4g apn in a 4g area.
You can put your location in here, https://network.sprint.com/ and see if there's any upgrades in the next 6 months. It's entirely possible.
Yeah I'm on sprint... I'm about to go to a sprint store and hopefully they get me a new one and it's better cause I can't even enjoy my phone like this... My galaxy s 2 didn't have this problem so idk if it's the network

Called sprint today cause I was having read bad 3g drops so they had me do ##3282# enter my msl number do a data profile reset and here it is 3.5 hrs later and I still have no data connection...they tried resetting my data profile on there end and still nada....any suggestions?

Do the ##3282# again and view what mode you are and look at advance and check everything is okay

I was able to getmy data profile provisioned using WiFi, but still when I turn the mobile network on and tries to connect then disconnects and repeats trying to connect several times

Try setting roaming to Sprint Only, then toggle CDMA/LTE to CDMA and back to CDMA/LTE again. Worked for me last time I was stuck in a similar situation as you without a mobile connection.
Do a ##72786# then msl code then hit the settings and reset that happened to me a bit ago I thought I fry my radio again

Dude call Sprint your probably disconnected from there end, I had no texting calling or data and it them who had me disconnected, so it's probably there fault just ask if there server is receiving your phone if not tell them to reset it and done everything is back to working

I can make and receive calls without a problem, i just have no working data connection, was on the phone with sprint shortly after i started having problems with it they tried resetting on there end but nothing would work

You sure they aren't being lazy? I had to call a few times before they actually did anything...... I even had a guy said data is down in my area when I was using it on my brothers s3 hung up and spoke to some else who helped me

That is what i was figuring, was hoping not tho,,,,,,,was hoping there was a clitch in it and doing some more playing around with it would get it to work........but i do appreciate everyone trying to help..

I have been having the issue lately but I have 4G and NV working going on at a tower near me. I get 4G signal for like 10 miles around my house but it seems to end right at the end of my driveway and switches to 3G.
However, since I seem to be on the edge of a very weak LTE signal (confirmed I could still get 4G by using DATA menu and switching to 4G only)
and a really strong 3G signal, it doesn't know which network it should connect to, so it doesn't hold a data connection to EITHER 3G or 4G for a while, but if I restart the phone or use it for a bit, the 3G will pick up again.
Tl; dr - are you on the edge of some LTE work going in your area??
BTW, the information was confirmed using sg4ru.com as well.

What is "usb charging" in ##3282# your able to check it or uncheck

Yeah I'm using stock ROM rooted with stock modem. I'm pretty sure T-Mobile is using 1900mhz for LTE and ATT uses 1700. Really digging the late though. Download and upload isn't a big concern but the ping has dropped to about half of what it was. Very happy with T-Mobile. I think the lte will spread quickly like their 4G did.

T-Mobile doesn't use 1900Mhz for LTE, only AWS 1700Mhz.
Regardless the i717 doesn't support LTE over 1900Mhz.

Oh wow this is awesome!!!! Could you please get into your ServiceMode (dial *#0011#) and take a screenshot of your ServiceMode?
Did you change any of your APN settings in order to access LTE or you're running default epc.tmobile.com ?

I like the techie stuff. For instance, in that screenshot I can see that they're using Band 4 (AWS 1700/2100Mhz), LTE bandwidth is 5Mhz which tells me that the maximum possible download/upload speeds are 37mbps down / 12mbps up in that particular market, EARFCN 2175 means that they're using C block of the AWS spectrum which is 10Mhz slice (5Mhz used for downlink, and 5mhz for uplink).
Most consumers don't care about this kinda stuff, but I do
