[Q] Backup stock ROM Linx Commtiva - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

I have the variant Linx Commtiva n700.
I rooted the device and then I installed ROM Manager to flash ClockworkMod recovery.
When I try to flash it, selecting "Spice MI700, Commtiva Link N700 and more" I always get the error: "An error occurred when flashing your recovery"
I googled it but I have not found any solution yet.
Any suggestion? Is there any other way to backup my stock ROM??
Thanks

i have the same prob
no one help

I remember having the same problem. I think I have flashed alternative recovery from the menu item at the bottom. Then I have uploaded to the card CWM 2.5 for this device and flashed it with a tool flash_image. If it is not on the device yet you need to copy it to /system/bin using adb. If I remember correctly command to flash is flash_image recovery image_name.img issued in the terminal emulator.
Then in the ROM Manager you need to connect it with the right recovery you've flashed.
Later on I have found CWM 3 and flashed it from CWM 2.5.
Correct commands can be found somewhere on the net, if you need help drop a message.
Cheers

Is it possible that I find on the subject of integrated hardware and software necessary for the work of Rom, available roms

[Q] need help from someone pro, root problem

I've been trying to install a custom rom to my htc hero (gsm) but it seemes like i can't root it properly.. i've used androot to root with, and tjecked if the mobile was rooted through busybox and various apps, and it all tjecks out, it gives su permission to the android terminal, and i can delete obligatory apps that i dont need from the phone without a problem, but when i try to setup another recovery to install custom roms im stuck, the terminal can't go that far.. just trying to reboot from the terminal isn't allowed..
So have anybody experienced the same issue?
and idea what to try next?
There was the same thing with my phone
Then I found a thread which said there are several different ways to apply recovery.zip. some of them difn't work for me either. Now I can't remember which method worked for me, but I'll share tgat thread as soon as I get to my notebook just wait for it
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
ok, this is how I have done.
put the recovery.zip in SD card
run Androot and do ROOT.
run Terminal Emulator.
execute the following commands
su (wait for superuser request and accept it)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
the reboot command won't work, so just turn off the phone and boot into recovery (Home+Power)
that's it.
If this method doesn't work, try this one
do Androot
run ROM Manager
press "Flash clockwork recovery"
grant superuser permissions
wait
boot into recovery
And another way to apply recovery via Droid Explorer
download and install Droid Explorer on your PC
USB Debugging must be turned on in the phone
connect via usb and run the program
coose Flash Recovery Image plugin and fill th path to recovery.img
It should do the job...
you sir. are awesome!
i've tried the two first methods before, they didn't work
but the last one did
another question now:
im in the system recovery and i've done everything i need to install a custom rom (cyanogenmod) but it stops installing:
E: No signature (775 files)
E: Verification failed
Installation aborted.
what to do now?
first of all, I'm not a Sir. I'm a Miss
and I'm glad I helped you
and third. Personally I haven't tryed cyanogenmod, so I'm not sure why the install package couldn't be verified. Try redownloading the zip. Maybe it is corrupt. If not, did you follow ALL these steps? I found it in this thread with the same question as yours. And he solved it this way.
Hope this will help...
hmh didn't expect that, and your quite smart too ^^
it's way my own fault, i repacked the zip that was the problem
cyanogenmod is damn nice
though it's the first rom ever to try out, it seems stable enough..
it's just good to fully control your own device
thanks
And yeah, cyanogen is nice

FIX ::D
LMFAO was about to post that same thing arvan had (in my own words) till i actually read the whole threat.
THanks to Arvan its exactly how u fix this issue
]Verification issue
flash clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.7 by installing rom manager and pressing on the option
to fix the signature issue press on install zip from sd, then on toggle signature verification on your clockworkmod recovery if u have this. if not try flashing this recovery image its very complete and useful
then choose form sd and as it says choose your rom and flash and reboot
there u go
have a good day
Wishhes the best for your hero

Flashing without USB..

Right here goes...
Just been given one of these...(hero)
BUT it will only charge via USB(port has a pin missing on phone). Have rooted it but it refuses to flash a recovery(states no sdcard and yes tried dif cards)... Have tried reflashing stock rom to see if that would solve it(extract rom from ruu and use Hboot) but always says cannot fine NBH files or similar...
So what other options are there? Phone works fine but is crippled by droid 2.1 so need to sort it out...
Should point out have tried the following to flash recovery:-
terminal emulator
Rom toolbox pro (ram manager would not install)
Recovery flasher
and all fail to flash with varying error messages
Advise with links please
SOLVED
added Flash_image command file to system/bin and worked fine.

[Q] Bricked ridge 4G

Hello, I bricked my wiko ridge 4G (snapdragon 410).
I can only start in the stock recovery with the option "apply update from sdcard".
I have a full backup of my rom I have done just prior to booting on a cwm.
How can I do to create update.zip me to restore my boot.img or even be able to boot me in the cwm?
Note that I have no ADB and fastboot otherwise I would have already been able to access back on my backup.
Thank you in advance

Hi,
I've had the same problem with my Wiko. I rooted it with King root application and after installing the software update v40 it complained about debuggerd file. I also tried to upgrade the phone with the PC upgrade program but once it reached 35% the process finishe with "download failed". Then, I manage to get debuggerd file from the upgrade PC version and substitute it by the new one. The installation started but just at the end of it complained about a "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" and the installation finished. Once the mobile was rebooted it was always looping in the Wiko Logo. I cannot put the mobile into fastboot mode neither factory, just recovery. I'm really desperate. I read something about editing the update.zip file with the OTA firmware and change the method set_metadata_recursive by set_perm_recursive but once I change that the update.zip file is damaged and the Wiko signature is lost (I signed it with android signature but it's not the same. I also tried to upload a new recovery from sdcard (the only thing I can do now) but it also complains about wrong footer and signature validation.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Br.

[Q] Please help to restore a soft-brick phone

Phone Details:
Phone: Huawei G525
Recovery: TWRP
Bootloader: Unlocked
Access through Fastboot - Yes
Access through ADB - Yes
Status: Bootloop/No OS
I made a terrible mistake and someone managed to ruin the stock ROM came with this, when I was trying to install a custom ROM. Ever since, despite all my efforts, I can't flash either a stock ROM or a custom ROM. Here are the methods I've tried and failed.
Standard custom ROM update by placing the dload folder - it fails after a few minutes. Tried a few different ROMs
Standard custom ROM install method using recovery - gives errors such as zip cannot be opened. Tried 2-3 different zips using two different microSD cards.
ADB sideload custom ROM zip - It loads the zip but returns an error "E: ZIP file is corrupt!"
Extracting img files from stock ROM and loading through fastboot - I can load all except system.img as it is too big to load. I looked everywhere to find a way to create a smaller size img file but none of the attempts worked.
Could someone direct me to the right direction to get this fixed pretty please?
Many thanks in advance!

Hi Bro,
i have sc7731c (karbonn titanium 3D Plex ) device too. and i have tried many available img but none of them worked this would be because these devices are new and there no suitable recovery available simply because people have not made any till now..
There is many programs that allows u to create a new custom recovery if there is no recovery is available for your device try to goggle it.
On windows, philz magic touch recovery tool, android kitchen recovery image unpacker and so on.
Can i make you custom recovery using your stock image if you're too lazy
as i said above i have been trying to flash online available recoveries and accidentally flashed my stock u could help me out this
can u provide me you stock recovery image file ?
@Maucurezo
Hey dude! Im a pinoy. Im running with my STARMOBILE PLAY CLICK. As same as yours. Im running on the same Spreadtrum SC7731C and I flashed a Custom Recovery but it would only bring me to bootload. I kept finding solutions to get my Stock recovery but failed. We have the same Problem. I need the Custom recovery too. Help us admins
You can try and do it yourself. Porting TWRP and CWM to a new device. You'll need the stock rom for your device or simply make an image "dump" of the system files (boot.img, etc) via adb. Goodluck.
TWRP for sc7731c hope it helps
hi all a have a sc7731c phone on android 6.0 and i was able to install twrp on my device
it all started when i found a stock rom on the web (Google your device for stock - rom or - firmware)
once i had the rom i started searching for a way to extract the stock recovery from the rom
and i found this tool SPD_Upgrade_Tool_R4.0.0001 using this tool i extracted my stock
recovery from the ROM ( recovery.img ) , first stage complete i had a stock recovery
taken from a rom for my phone - brand and model must be right on the stock
firmware/rom or you risk damaging you phone (DO NOT CHEAT PLZ)
ps:wen you unpack the firmware/rom you should get a .pac file
ps:finding my stock rom took me several days of search.
now for STAGE 2 i had a stock recovery a needed to change it
for twrp another few days of search i came across a site
called hovatek here i found a tool to port (change) the
stock recovery to boot the twrp recovery the tool name is
[Hovatek] Spreadtrum (SPD) Auto TWRP Recovery Porter V1.0 by Team Hovatek (x86)
i run my stock recovery with this tool the tool creates a modified recovery on the
output folder( a few kb bigger ) stage 2 done.
STAGE 3
1- a fully working ADB, for this your best option is android-studio
2-turn on USB debuging and OEM unlock in DEV options
3-name the new recovery file recovery.img
4-your device has to be in USB MTP mode
5-if ADB is properly installed and Windows has the correct android device
driver you should be able to use these commands using android-studio's ADB
command-adb devices
-if the device is detected a serial number apears
command-adb reboot bootloader
-the device reboots to a black screen with small white letters saying FASTBOOT mode
command-fastboot devices
-the device displays the serial number again
command-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
- if all went well it will say successful
command-fastboot reboot
-dont remenber if it booted straight to twrp or if i had to use power + volume up
-by the way on my phone to get in the default recover its 1 second hold power
and then with the power pressed for 1 sec add volume up 3 sec and let go of both
any way it worked i hope it helps ppl with these sc7731c phones
i have twrp 3.0.0 fully working
tips: youtube vídeos on how to use SPD_Upgrade_Tool_R4.0.0001
the hovatek site has a great tutorial on how to use the recovery porter tool
the last part the ADB commands was a ***** as Windows did not install my device
correctly and this is crucial -install phone driver manualy/Google device/Google android device. good luck
ps: all merit goes to the developers of these tool, a great ty to them :highfive:
ps: at the start i did NOT have root, the success flashing the ported twrp recovery
was followed bi the installation of the magisk15.3.zip and voila twrp+root
any one help me i port twrp using adb but after i flash my twrp upside down on sc7731ceb it works fine but the twrp upside down any help me

humm,.. as far as i now adb does not port recovery image´s you mean you found an image for sc7731?? phone and there are at least 4 or 5 variations of the sc7731 board and you
flashed it on your phone, by shear luck you did not soft-brick or brick your phone and it actualy Works, :cyclops:
you need to search Google/xda/hovatek site for your brand and model´s stock recovery or even better your custom recovery
or as an alternative your stock ROM/FIRMWARE and then extract the stock recovery from ROM/FIRM port it and flash it
im prety shure someone out there has a phone like your´s and you can , when you find it download the stock recovery - the custom recovery - or the ROM/FIRMWARE file
the hovatek site has a great auto port tool all you need is your stock recovery follow the vídeo simple steps and flash it now that you have root just use
twrp oficial app to flash it ,se my tutorial above it will be easy once you have the stock recovery or rom/firmware
i have a 50 buck cheap phone wierd brand,it took me several days to find the stock rom/firmware once i did all worked just fine no strange stuff
hovetek site also has a lot of rom´s/firmware files for many brands and model´s , again search Google/xda/hovatek for your model + stock recovery or recovery.img, custom recovery.
good luck
