New OTA Fail - Motorola Photon 4G

Downloaded the New OTA, I get this error
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/build.prop", "5c3f9a4d69509d2c8b88850d2a333ae7df255a", "c566a4739016d30834e2ae57784e81c7dbdd6ce9")
E:Error in /cache/Blur_Version.45.2.7.MB855.Sprint.en.US.zip
(status 7)
update: Problem not resolved, found a workaround See post #2

DID a hard reset though Android Recovery, and then tried to download the NEW OTA, and during installation got the same error. I am currently on 4.2.7 build 154_6
Right Now trying to RSD 4.3.6, will update
Update: Flashing Build 4.3.6 through RSD failed, I get the screen filled with noise
Update: Flashing 154_5 with RSD Success
system downloaded 4.2.7 OTA, and then Download 4.3.6, all works
BUT it blows i had to do all this.....could Bootstrap recovery be blamed??? i have another photon, that was rooted that same way as this but that one had no bootstrap recovery and the OTA went fine
update: http://www.uploadhere.com/UPPUJTGZNO if people need the 154_5 full SBF

same here, update fails. stock rooted

Download it and as soon as it starts to install, press Volume up AND down, it will tell you whats going on, i had to go all the way back to 154_5 to get it going, hard reset did not work
Do you have bootstrap installed and if so, ever restored a backup?

no bootstrap, just rooted

well try pressing volume up and down and lets see what the error is, sometimes it can be resolved.

assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/appaccountandsyncsettings.apk", "96a3dd49051c5b6cf5e31fd080d2f1398157f02c", "485f9b3476f156630d72fcc1564737f2029a40")
E:Error in /cache/Blur_Version.45.2.7.MB855.Sprint.en.US.zip
(status 7)
installation aborted

I also am just 1 click rooted, during the update it starts and soon goes into the exclamation mark. I don't know what the bootstrap is; I just one click rooted. I have tried to update twice now with no luck...

That means that the build.prop has been modified and does not match what the installer is expecting (hash wise). Should be easily fixed by switching in build.prop from the stock sbf.

I forgot to mention that besides having OCR I have the modified webtop dock software to run from an HDMI cable. Would that be my issue in updating? Is there any way to get the original files (it was really dumb but i just went ahead and deleted them and didnt save them elsewhere before)

Download stock sbf of the version you have. Switch in files that fail hash check with adb or root explorer.

After clicking "Download" button process doesn't start visually but if I trying to check update again I get the message "An update is currently being downloaded. You will be notified when the download is complete". Wipe is done. All stock apps are available. Nothing happens, the update is hanging somewhere in the background. What should I do?

update... mine is downloading now. There is a progress bar in notifications now. I guess just wait it out and maybe it will "unstick" for you

hold your horses and wait for the download to finish.

I tried that, I did modify my build.prop and I had backed up my original one, I also did a hard reset and still got the same error, untill i had to RSD flash 154_5. Question though, How do you extract a build.prop file from a sbf, what do you use to do it?

I have waited now for 17 hours , Nothing Happens ,
But its sucking my battery , I have to keep the 3G data on all the time ,
how to cancel it , There's nothing I can do about it , it just really annoys me in the notification bar .,

reboot and see if it helps, or connect to wifi

I also am not able to update to the new OTA.
I receive the following error message:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.apk", "looongstring1", "loongstring2")
I deleted the .apk file to stop Sprint searching for network at the beginning. I guess that is the reason why its not letting me update. Is there anywhere I can find this file from? Does Sprint/Motorola provide it? Am I screwed?

ROOTING is not the Problem, my other photon had the OCR and updated fine, some of the APKs are getting modified, if nothing goes the last resort might be what i had to do.
Anyone can please provide the methods to extract specific files from sbf, that might help, the SBF would have to be from the current file system as your phone.

I agree. Even in my case, I have deleted an apk which is causing this. Need to find a way to get the apk back or else the previous update is going to be my last

[Tutorial][S-OFF] How to Use Official OTA files

NOTE: IF YOU ARE ALREADY ON ICS OF EITHER PROVIDER, YOU CANNOT USE THE OTA FILE AS DIRECTED BELOW, SINCE THE UPDATE PROCESS CHECKS YOUR ANDROID/BOOTLOADER VERSION
Now we all have access to the Telus and T-Mobile OTA ICS files but we can't seem to find a way to install them, we only know how to install the modded files that the devs have supplied us with, well search no more.
I'll give you a step by step way to get it done and use the OTA files without the need of a dev modding it for us.
Requirements:
1. Stock GB of whichever provider you choose to install from be it Telus or T-Mobile
do note that you can only install the ICS OTA file of the exact providers who's stock GB you have installed.
2. The OTA corresponding file, I'll provide links to both below.
3. An SD card.
Procedure:
1. Flash back to stock GB of the provider you want to install be it TMO or Telus, if you're already on complete stock, skip this step and go to step 2.
2. Place the OTA file on the external sd card, you do not have to rename this file.
3. Reboot into bootloader and select recovery, it's gonna show the update icon then show you the icon some of you have been getting with the red triangle and exclamation mark, ignore this.
4. Hold your volume up button and press the power button, it's gonna say "can't open command/cache" then give you the default recovery menu.
5. select install update.zip from external
6. browse using the volume up or down buttons to the OTA file and press the power button to select it.
7. it's gonna ask you once to select reboot on the menu, do this and let it be for a few more minutes.
8. It's gonna reboot when it done, should reboot twice, once to the upgrade screen, second to android.
Voila! You're on official ICS via the ota file!
T-Mobile ICS OTA file here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/V4cIZsvx/OTA_RUBY_ICS_35_S_TMOUS_214531.html
Telus ICS OTA file here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/HTGslOiT/OTA_RUBY_ICS_35_S_TELUS_WWE_21.html
Credits to BoomBoom for the telus file upload.
Note to users, if you're getting an error when you try to select the update file as instructed, simply rename the OTA file to update, then try applying update from sd card, let me know if that works for you instead, so I can edit this tutorial accordingly.
An experimental though added, it's theory, too lazy to test it, but hoping someone else confirms it.
Hi!
It doesnt work for me
3. Reboot into bootloader and select recovery, it's gonna show the update icon then show you the icon some of you have been getting with the red triangle and exclamation mark, ignore this. (I did get the red triangle &exclamation).
4. Hold your volume up button and press the power button, it's gonna say "can't open command/cache" then give you the default recovery menu.
(it shows Android system recovery <3e> in blue at the top of the screen -> not sure if this is the default though?)
5. select install update.zip from external ( I have Apply update from sdcard. If I choose that option I get "invalid operation" shows the red triangle & exclamation and it restarts itself.)
Thanks in advance!

What's your phone info?
Android version, what recovery are you using, are you rooted? Are you unlocked?? I can't work with nothing, gotta have some info.
I'm having the same problem as Scream. My amaze is complete stock, unrooted. Already running the Telus ota but wanted to reflash to try and fix the "time without signal" problem.

There's no reflashing for Telus S-On users, your only option would be to install a custom recovery and restore the nandroid backup I made for telus users to return to stock, do a wipe before restoring, so any buggy files will be cleared.

Sorry, you're quite right!
It's is as close to stock as i seem to be able to get it...
I tried "RUU_Ruby_TELUS_WWE_1.41.661.3_Radio_1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D_release_222694_signed.exe", and relocked my bootloader, then while in fastboot I ran the EXE and it completed just fine.
System presently shows as andriod 2.34, sense 3.0 and software number 1.41.661.3. Baseband is 1.08.550L.19DC_30.66.550L.08D, build is 1.41.661.3 CL185373 release-keys.
I've tried using Hasoon2000;s all in one (V3.1)to flash the kernel and recovery to stock, but its not seeming to work... kernel is now 2.6.35.13-ga21d077 and the recovery screen shows a phone with a red triangle & exclamation with the words Andriod system recovery <3e> and always the same 4 options: reboot, apply from sdcard, factory reset and wipe cache.
(edited>) I'm also locked/unlocked & rooted!
Telus-1.41-Restore-Flasher also claimed to reflashed the recovery and didnt seem to do anything either :/
lo and behold! "There's no reflashing for Telus S-On users, your only option would be to install a custom recovery and restore the nandroid backup I made for telus users to return to stock, do a wipe before restoring, so any buggy files will be cleared."
If thats my oly solution, its no wonder everythings been failing :/ Would the above let me take the OTA? Or do I need some s-off action?
Thanks

Rename the OTA file to update and place it on your external sd card, reboot into recovery, choose the apply update.zip option again and let me know what happens.
Firstly, I really appreciate the quick replies!
copied "OTA_RUBY_ICS_35_S_TELUS_WWE_2.14.661.2-1.41.661.3_release_258801lhwl8053lp8g5hcp.zip" and renamed to update.zip.
Standard "E:Cant open /cache/recovery/command" that ive been seening all day and when i choose update from sdcard it says "invalid operation, sucess rebooting reason code ___ (its a bit too qiuck for me to catch it all!)
What next?
Cheers/thanks

So basically, you can't update via my methods or just normally via the phone, is your bootloader unlocked by chance? If so, please relock it, that's the reason why it won't update if it's unlocked, only s-off users can update with an unlocked bootloader.

Well you're on ICS officially, have fun.
n00b question
First post, and I'm sorry for asking an obvious question and posting in a relatively old thread. I just got an Amaze 4G yesterday, and after many calls and chats with both T-Mobile customer support and HTC support, the consensus is that my phone isn't getting the OTA ICS update because the IMEI block hasn't been activated, yet. Will this method allow me to get it early, while not voiding my warranty, etc? If I stuck with this method, would I still be able to get the usual OTA updates later on?
What I'm trying to ask is, does this method act exactly as if I had gotten it through T-Mobile?
Thanks, everyone! It's much appreciated!
ics ota update videotron on htc amaze from videotron
Hi guys, I was wondering if i was doing doing something wrong trying the method showed up on the frist page , I applied the steps for my videotron amaze 4g with the ota file, and yet i get what everyone seems getting, I get to the point where it cannot find the update file on the sd card. What if I were to put the update file in the internal memeory?. after all, if the OTA gets in via the regular way, wouldn't be placed in the internal memory to start with??
Still , I would require some help from someone who suceeded in upgrading to ICS..
Thanks
1. Sideloading only works with external sd
2. This method only seems to work with s-off devices on gb or a s-on device with a locked bootloader.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Ota update
So i have to S-off the phone them... I wish i didn't have to rely on Jump starting the lock. I do not matter losing the contents od the SD card what I am afraid of is that I do not want to fry the phone ... Looks like i'll have to wait for my provider to send the OTA file by air. Why isnmt there some kind of an OTASP to trigger these OTA pushes? Thanks again.
I did click the button BTW.

Lock your bootloader back if you're on gb and try this method again, do note that you have to have the stock recovery.

[Q] Huawei U8860 Read-only file system

Hello Everyone,
I badly need help on my Huawei Honor U8860 phone. I have recently updated it from 2.3.6 to 4.03 over WIFI and the update went smoothly. So now here is what my phone have:
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-perf-00059-g3a757a2 [email protected] #1
Build Number: U8860IV100R001C00B923SP01
I have not rooted the phone at this time. It was working fine until 2 days ago when I started getting messages on the screen like:
"Unfortunately, 2D Home has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play Music has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Browser has stopped"
And so on, and so forth. It seems that all apps and processes have stopped when I try to use them so I literally can't use the phone. I went through several threads here just trying to restore my phone back to a
working state. I tried to do the following in order but without success:
1.) Factory data reset / erase everything - the phone boots to the recovery menu then it formats the /Data, /Cache and /HWUserData then it reboots. After reboot, the phone is back to where it was before the factory data reset with everything in it including downloaded apps.
2.) Manually uninstalled all downloaded apps. Removed screen lock (just to see if phone behavior changes). Then rebooted the phone but after reboot, all the apps are still installed and the screen lock is back as well.
3.) I tried to Force Update with the following official ROMs: B886, B919 and B923 but I always get the message "Update failed" during the update process.
4.) I downloaded the file "recovery-u8860-en.img" so I can replace the "recovery.img" file . Rebooted the phone w/ the pink screen and connected it to my PC but there is no USB mass storage device mounted.
5.) Finally, I tried to root the phone. I enabled USB debugging. I installed the ADB drivers then I downloaded the U8860 root tools and rootexplorer.apk. When I ran the "root-me.cmd", it tried to copy some files to the phone but it failed. The error was "read-only file system".
So it seems that the problem is because of the "read-only filesystem". I does not permit/allow any changes made to the phone. Can you help me restore my phone?
Please.. Can somebody help me on this?
Thanks, clint2rose

I still did not find any solution for my problem. I read from this thread that all ICS versions can be downgraded.

Is there a way to downgrade from B923 to B919? I think this will solve the problem I'm facing.

try to back-up some of the data form the partitions that are full on your phone and delete them, maybe afterwards the stock-rom-flashing procedure will work again.

what do you mean by flashing your current ROM? Just like any other stock ROM put the dload folder on the sd-card and start the update procedure either from the settings menu or via the boot-key-combination.
Yes the way you discribed is the correct one for flashing those patches, If those patches also don't work, I'm out of ideas, sorry.

Thank you once more for your time. Most of the thread I read regarding these patches often used the phrase" you have to flash the current version of your ROM using the patch"...
And yes I created dload folder, place the UPDATE.APP and put it on the sdcard. I turned off the phone and removed the battery. Then I pressed vol+ vol- and power on/off button. The firmware update went to about 70% installing before displaying update failed.
I guess I will have to bring my phone to a repair center. My only problem is that there is no Huawei service center at my place (I reside here in Saudi Arabia). I got the phone as a free device on a broadband package and the warranty is already expired. I'm a little worried to take the phone to the small mobile repair shops as they might screw up the phone even more. Huawei is not a popular device here unlike iPhone, HTC and Samsung Galaxy.
As I understood that your device is rooted, you should get some custom ROM and try to install it.

No, my device is not rooted. I tried to root it but I get the message "failed to copy file: Read-only file system".

you don't need to be rooted, you only need to have a custom recovery deployed (which you can either do with root permissions, or by using the pink screen method, but some newer stock roms (you said your on 932 or something? last non-locked working is b919) this has been locked and the device will not boot if the kernel or the recovery image has been manipulated.
I think you will have to find some (huawei-certified!) repair-center, small do-it-all phone-shops probably won't be able to take care of this problem for you.. I'm sorry but I don't see any other solution

Ok. I will try to find a repair-center experienced in Huawei devices. I have one last question if you don't mind. Is it possible to erase everything on the phone? As in completely erase or reformat after which there will not be an operating system on the phone. I read in some threads that this is possible w/ custom recovery but I want to know if it is also possible for phones without the custom recovery. I'm hoping there might be some tool or something..

Have you find the solution yet? I have the same problem. Somehow my phone system is "locked". I can't install or uninstall app. Some google apps keep showing not responding. Everything changes i made, keep showing up after the phone rebooted.
This was happen a few days after I upgrade to ICS B932SP01 and rooted my phone (to remove original chinese apps).
Luckily i have friend in huawei indonesia. He gave my u8860 to the technical support. But the result was no good.
They try everything, even install my phone with the original GB and always failed.
The last suggestion is change the phone machine, which is as same as buy a new phone.
I really appreciate is someone can help me here...
Thanks

Did you flash a ROM? In you pictures it appears that you can still get to recovery, is that true? What steps did you take for root? We need more information.

I was trying to flash rom, I was trying to make in international phone so it could work in Europe with out any Verizon build in stuff, just pure Samsung.
I can go do download mode, I was able to go for recovery before. That why there is the 4th picture, in stead of regular recovery a had that "teamwin" screen. Now when I press up menu and power is saying its going to recovery boot but then it resets it self and going back to Samsung unlock icon screen and just stays there...
You hold volume down + power to get to download mode. Then connect to a pc and download the all in one tool found in the development thread. Ignore the messages about having your phone in USB debugging and tell it to flash twrp 2.6.0.0. If it doesn't take In download mode, try rebooting your phone while it tries to flash twrp.
If that doesn't work flash stock with Odin and re-root and unlock the phone.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
I'm having the exact same problems right now. I tried flashing a 4.3 i9505 rom and now I can't get back into recovery and I can't boot into the OS. I can get into download mode and use ODIN, but I don't know what to do from there. I tried using the All-In-One tool to install TWRP, but it just says Device Not Found. I also tried flashing the stock sch-i545 kernel in ODIN, and it completed successfully, rebooted, and its still doing the same thing. Is there some other way that I've missed to return to stock? I'm kinda bummin here.. but thats what comes with the territory I suppose. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Found the factory image thread. Going to follow instructions. Will report back.
it works but not completly
So guys going back to my problem I was trying to do everything like lahma69 was trying too...
in odin was error that device not found, all off that...
but what I did, I look more online and I found this one guy...
and what I did in download mode I use odin, and in PDA selection I use this file stockroms(dot)net/file/GalaxyS4/SCH-i545/VRUAMDK_NoWipe.tar.zip
now boom... its kinda works... I am back with my os, I got the android root.
but some things are not right... my phone is very hot, maybe because its charging its self for the first time in weeks.
more important is Whats is happening right now, in boot menu I get errors, no commands, it was not able to do factory reset until I went into os and did it over there... and I cant do software update from Verizon... it goes to root and its trying but then gets error and going back to os...
and I am worry about that file that I download...
so we got little progress and lahma69 I can at least operate os and I have back stock root...
but until we will not going to make it 100% hold on with what I did...
U cant flash a rom thats not made specifically for the verizon variant (i545). The i9505 is the international version of the phone. Hence your phone not booting. Youre going to have to flash the stock mdk firmware through odin and start over (reroot, etc).

sannek, I actually got it back up and running doing the same thing you did. I flashed the factory image in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
I haven't noticed any problems yet. I'm fixing to reroot and flash my nandroid. I will let you know if I run into any problems.
I know you can't typically flash a i9505 rom on a verizon gs4, but the author of a i9505 4.3 rom gave me some instructions to try in order to get it working. I'm inserting a 4.3 ramdisk into a 4.2 AOSP ktoonsez verizon gs4 kernel, and replacing the boot.img in the 4.3 i9505 rom. I now know that I had accidentally inserted the wrong version kernel, and thats what caused my problems.

lahma69 were u able to do software upgrade on your phone?

My phone seems to be at 100%. I never do software updates through Verizon so I would not know if thats working or not. After I flashed the stock image in ODIN and rerooted my device, I immediately flashed TWRP through Goomanager and reflashed my nandroid (Eclipse TW rom.) Everything is running well and my phone isn't warm. Why are you trying to do a software update? I think there is an update now that can't be rooted, so you definitely don't want to do that...
I tried several things to get the i9505 4.3 rom running on my device. root problem and upgrate
So I did exactly how xda web site was saying about going back to stock and all of that.
It worked, I can run to os and I have original root.
Still have couple of problems,
1.when u in recovery I see error and no command right below android guy. also I see new info in yellow color, below regular blue recovery screen option. (pic1)
2. information in yellow color is follow: (pic 2)
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the csc-code:VZN
successfully applied multi-CSC.
never see in before, don't know what to do..
3. I cant do regular Verizon software update. S4 resets it self and goes to recovery where is trying to do update but ends um saying error and then is going back to os and its saying that update was not that and that there were no changes applied...(pic 3)

Did you see what I said about doing Samsung software updates? The rooting threads for the Verizon GS4 say that the new VRUAME7 OTA update can't be rooted. After flashing the stock image from oden, why don't you reroot your device according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798 and then install Goomanager, click the menu key, click "Install open recovery script" and that will install TWRP recovery. From there, flash a verizon rom of your choice and all should be well, no? I only use TWRP so I can't give you any input on other recoveries. Make sure you didn't somehow get updated to VRUAME7.

Well I am not that good with all of it... I don't know a lot of meanings of all this like TWRP, Eclipse TW rom, or what you said u did on post #7785
so I am just trying to be able to make it run like new, and then if I do that I will try to work on my s3 and practice on that...
I am beginner in it... plus my English abilities are not that great, so I really don't know which root is the best or how to do it with out messing up entire phone. I love to dig into it, and my s4 was just laying broken for past month and I worked on in today with you guys and its almost working... I almost made claim from insurance for new phone but this one starts working today..
and looks like everything is fine with it
except root errors and no commands ,I cant wipe cash because its crashing and restarting and I cant do that software update, and I have that manual multi csc note in recovery system like I mention just on top with pictures...

Do you currently have root? To check, you can run the "SuperUser" app. If you don't have it, download it from the Play store. After installing it, run it, and a box should pop up asking you for superuser permissions. Click "Grant." If a message pops up that says something like "Superuser has been granted superuser permissions," then you have root. If you don't have root, you need to get it. Follow the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798 . After performing those instructions, and verifying you have root, you need to download an application called "Goomanager" from the play store. After installing and opening it, click your "Menu" key (bottom left hand corner of your phone.) A menu will pop up. Click "Install open recovery script." Click Yes or Ok to all the pop up messages. After that completes, you will have TWRP recovery installed. Your recovery is what you boot your phone to in order to flash new roms, kernels, etc. In order to boot into recovery, turn off your phone completely, click and hold your volume up button, and power on your phone (while still holding volume up.) You should see some tiny blue text pop up in the top left hand corner of your screen that saying "Opening recovery" (or something to that effect.) Once you see that text, you can let go of volume up, and you will boot into TWRP. Let me know if you get this far...

And thats the most important part, because if you do you will lose root and your ability to customize your phone. In layman's terms? You will be re-VZ-navigated.
I am having a similar issue. Got the "Samsung Custom" boot screen with no boot to the OS after clean wipe and install of Hyperdrive 7. Since then I have been troubleshooting the issue and have tried many things including the "No-Wipe Factory Image". Once complete I am still getting the Samsung Custom boot screen and no loading of the OS.
Any ideas as to what I can try.
Thanks in advance,
Tony

5.0.2 upgrade ERROR -- PURE STOCK

I'd like to start off by saying that I have NEVER rooted this device and have been 100% stock since day 1.
The only thing I did was enable developer options to unlock the bootloader so I could sideload OTA updates in the event they take too long to hit my device... No custom recoveries, no custom roms, no custom kernels, no exposed framework... NOTHING.. pure stock.
I started getting the 5.0.2 upgrade notification yesterday. Everytime I download and install, about 30% of the way through the installation I get the android icon showing ERROR. When I open the last recovery log it mentions not being able to open /cache/update.zip with a status 7 error. .. All I can do it reboot and return back to 5.0.1
I did some reading and it was recommended to wipe / format the CACHE partition. So I went into the stock recovery and tried this but to no avail.
I REALLY don't want to factory reset (or flash a factor image) and lose all the progress on the various games I have been playing.
Is there anything else I can try ??
you can try sideloading the update, grabbing the factory image and manually flashing the partitions (except userdata). you can try the factory image and just edit the flash-all.bat file to not wipe the device (sometimes the flash all file gave me an issue forcing me to do the partitions manually)
Thanks for the feedback... I can try this but IMO it's more of a workaround than a solution.
What I'm trying to get at is..... How in the heck would Google or HTC expect the average consumer to resolve such an issue.
Needing to have a PC, have special drivers installed, etc.., is understandable for those who want to step away from STOCK but what about the average consumer who just purchased the tablet to use as is, continues to receive a notification that an update is available, but fails every time it is applied ? Surely there is something that can be done so allow the update to take without having to factory reset or RMA the device...

From the sounds of it there is an issue with the OTA file. But I agree you shouldn't be having to do this. I worry about the non xda'ers of the world when this stuff happens
Mine is doing the same crap. Also unmodified Nexus 9. This is nonsense.
Same issue here. Error every time I hit Restart & Install after downloading the update. Have to long press the power bottom to get it to boot back again. Tried a factory reset, didn't work. Still getting same error.
Thanks for sharing that you tried a factory reset. I am trying to avoid this for reasons mentioned in my 1st post.
I have tried numerous times now wiping cache and waiting for the upgrade to reappear but it continues to error out that the same place during the upgrade each time. Fortunately it's not bricking the device but IF this update is required as a stepping stone for subsequent updates then it will be extremely disappointing if Google doesn't address this issue.
I still cannot imagine google / htc not being able to resolve this WITHOUT having to make a user connect to a PC and manually flash imagess (or worse.. RMA the device). Hoping someone on XDA comes up with a magical sequence to allow the OTA to prcess properly.
In addition to wiping cache through recovery I have also ensured that I didn't have any apps / process or services disabled.
This is also being reported in google support forums:
https://productforums.google.com/fo...ter#!category-topic/nexus/nexus-9/MzHmJu4glkQ
I still haven't tried sideloading the OTA but at this point I don't think it would make a difference as the OTA does download properly and says it was verified.

I found this -> http://www.telekom-presse.at/apps/n...sht_update_auf_version_5-1_fehlt.id.33675.htm. There is a comment claiming to have fixed the issue by sideloading the OTA. I have yet to try it myself though.
On a side note,
Google has apparently finally released 5.1.1 for our device so it should be making it's way out soon.. HOPEFULLY we can go straight from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 without having to worry about 5.0.2.

Have you seen any evidence of this unicorn? Just curious...
Reported on the official Google+ page :
https://plus.google.com/+Nexus/posts/2hB9k5r2Z7T
But I can't find any reports of anyone actually receiving it yet. IF 5.0.2 needs to act as a stepping stone then maybe they delayed to get the 5.0.2 issue resolved 1st.. It seems to be getting more and more attention out there now.

FWIW.
I went into recovery, wiped cache and tried to side load the 5.0.2 OTA update manually and got the same error. The error displayed approx. 40% into the upload process from the PC.
I'm getting frustrated I can't get 5.0.2 to install. This is ridiculous
When I get the error, Power/Vol+ switches to the recovery log - there is a warning about (from memory) a partition having been mounted R/W, and a suggestion to re-flash the device first.
All I can remember changing from stock is permitting bootloader-unlock from dev options (never got round to unlocking, so far as I remember).
Not too worried, will hang on for the next major update (or 6.x if there is a preview, maybe) - however, it seems 5.0.2 is a fix to allow 5.1.1 to download (from comments on the G+ thread)
My error is an SHA mismatch on /dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/APP. I have

Given that 5.0.2 is a significant improvement. Why don't you give up on trying to sideload the OTA, and fastboot flash the factory image? You won't get these errors.

Given that 5.0.2 is a significant improvement. Why don't you give up on trying to sideload the OTA, and fastboot flash the factory image? You won't get these errors.

Having trouble installing the 11.0.2.BE88CF Update

I got a notification about a new software update, but no matter how much I try, the installation fails.
Is this normal, since I'm rooted? Or am I missing something?
I've rebooted a bunch of times but I still get a "Couldn't install system update" notification.
If I go to the settings, it says "Couldn't update" with "Installation problem" in red letters.
As the title says, the update version is 11.0.2.BE88CF. I've attached a screenshot for reference.
I'll appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
This also what happened to me.

https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota-api/package/240680600a156993855db4474abfd98e3a9f89a3.zip
That's the link for the 11.0.2 BE88CF zip. It's for TMO devices though. Try performing a local upgrade by downloading that to your phone and moving the zip file to the root directory. Then go back into settings and system updates, press the gear icon on the top right. Click on the 2406...zip file. Hopefully that works.

Thank you for the link. I downloaded the file, but I can't perform the local upgrade because I can't find the gear symbol inside system updates. When I go to system update I still get the screenshot I added earlier.
Also, I still don't know what the problem with the installation is.
Incremental OTA expects stock partitions, so for a rooted phone, you need to follow the OTA survival guide, otherwise update will fail.
Unfortunately there is no local update option for metro, and very limited full ROM availability.

Wow I had no idea metro did that. I knew metro doesn't like unlocked bootloader's and are strict. I will never buy one in my life .

You could try flashing the stock boot.img via fastboot to see if it finishes installing. https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachments/boot-11-0-1-be88cf-img-zip.5399231/
You'll need to reboot to fastboot and then run: fastboot flash boot_a boot-11-0-1-be88cf-img and then fastboot boot_b (img filename). Try rebooting and performing the update then.
Well, quick update on this.
I've given up on updating. Either it's not working or, most likely, I'm doing something wrong which causes the process to fail. Thanks for the help to all who replied, though. I really appreciate it.
Misclicked and did a double post, sorry.

Hey, I'm sorry for the late reply but if you really want to upgrade to 11.0.2 maybe try MSM download tool to restore to OxygenOS 10. This will completely format your device though so backup everything including internal storage. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...l-to-restore-your-device-to-oxygenos.4204445/ Then once you're updated to 11.0.2 you could root again... I normally just unroot my phone update then reroot, but in your case that doesn't seem to be working.

The MSM you provided is for BE86AA and BE89BA, not for BE88CF which is what they need.
As far as I know, no MSM exists for BE88CF: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...8cf-11-0-2-be88cf-rooting-impossible.4367271/
